  1. I was wondering if anyone would be interested in making a soothing, ethereal variation on Aerith's theme, which feels like the lifestream is singing her theme, welcoming here back to the planet? A few years ago, I tried making this, but I have zero musical ability. If anyone decides to give this a shot, this is a really interesting variation on the theme. I figure it might give inspiration
  2. You might recognize a few of pieces in this from Dev and Reuben Kee. I wish Reuben was still with us so I could share this project with him. btw, if you havent heard of these stories, they're set between the events of FF7 and Advent Children, focusing on each of the characters. This is Nanaki's part. 3. This is the best FF7 LP out there IMO Great Ni No Kuni one Really relaxing Journey LP
  4. Im not sure what kind of feeling you're going for with the score. I worked on a similar audio only production and went mostly for piano arrangements of FF7 tunes, which complimented the types stories I was telling. Certainly songs like "holding my thoughts in my heart", "that day 5 years ago", "aerith's theme", "tifa's theme" would work really well as simplified arrangements, maybe played on piano at a lower tempo with room for original arrangement. Just throwing tracks from VotL at it wouldn't work, since alot of the tracks vary in genre and wouldnt feel unified in it. You also have to deal with the fact you have spoken dialogue rather than text, so some music wont lend itself to scenes. The reason I chose to use mostly piano music was because it gives a timeless feel, and its easier to transition from scene to scene. Might not be the the approach you go for, but I figured I'd give something to think about.
  5. Hi, I dont know if anyone would be interested in this, but I figured its worth posting. It is an album called Final Fantasy VII - Pulse of Life, featuring piano arangements by HypochondriacPiano, used in an audiobook series ive been working on. Anyway, it can be downloaded here if you are interested. Cheers http://thelifestream.net/final-fantasy-vii/11142/ffvii-pulse-of-life-music-from-the-tls-audiobooks/
  6. Congratulations to all of the remixers involved in this. Its been a long time coming, but it was well worth it. Its great to have some pokemon stuff on the site, hopefully it will inspire more pokemon remixes. I wish I could have been involved from the start to work on more artwork, but im glad its done and dusted now.
  7. Hi, I was watching this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y2dmfCnHMno&feature=related I think it would be amazing to have a sort of comunity project like this, and create a beautiful, ethereal version of Aerith's. I tried creating something with samples ages ago, which had quite a nice sound, but I think in the hands of someone with musical tallent, it could be incredible. I think Aerith's theme lends itself well to this, and is fitting given the character it represents
  8. Hey there, the last 9 months or so I've been working of a series of audiobooks for TheLifestream.net, based on a series of novellas called On the Way to a Smile, written by Kazushige Nojima, and The Maiden Who Travels The Planet by Benny Matsuyama. They are narrated and voiced by an amazing cast, and feature original arrangents of music from the game, as well as completely original music. If you want to get an idea of what this series is, listen to Case of Tifa first, but I have arranged them in the order they should be listened to. The Maiden Who Travels The Planet Length – 1hr 14mins Tells the story of Aerith's journey in the lifestream after her death http://thelifestream.net/final-fantasy-vii/6329/tls-presents-the-maiden-who-travels-the-planet-audiobook/ On the Way to a Smile: Case of Lifestream Length – 12 mins Split into 6 sections, it bridges the gap between the events at the end of FF7 and Advent Children, alternating between Sephiroth and Aerith's POV http://thelifestream.net/final-fantasy-vii/6377/tls-presents-%E2%80%9Cthe-case-of-lifestream%E2%80%9D-audiobook/ On the Way to a Smile: Case of Tifa Length - 50 mins Centred around Tifa and Cloud after the events of in the original game. It explores Tifa's feelings of regret and her relationship with Cloud http://thelifestream.net/final-fantasy-vii/6955/tls-presents-%E2%80%9Ccase-of-tifa%E2%80%9D-audiobook/ On the Way to a Smile: Case of Denzel Coming Soon On the Way to a Smile: Case of Barret Coming Soon On the Way to a Smile: Case of Yuffie Coming Soon On the Way to a Smile: Case of Nanaki Coming Soon On the Way to a Smile: Case of Shinra Coming Soon I hope you enjoy these and keep an eye out for new installments soon
  9. I love Reuben's music. Assention to cosmo canyon is a true work of art. I dont know if many of you have heard his Lifestream Overture. Look it up if you havent, its really great. I actually used a part of it in an FF7 audiobook with a dedication to Reuben at the end. http://thelifestream.net/final-fantasy-vii/6377/tls-presents-%E2%80%9Cthe-case-of-lifestream%E2%80%9D-audiobook/ I just wish i got to know him. When I read about him here or the mugen community, his talent and generosity always shine through.
  10. Hey guys, im making these audiobooks based on the "On The Way To A Smile" series of novellas. There are 8 books altogether, each centred around a different character. Each will be about 1 hour long. What I need is incidental music with an FF7 flavour. Ive posted a 10 minute preview of Tifa's book to give you an idea of the overall tone. I think minimalist piano arrangements would work really well, maybe with ambient strings, and hinting at FF7 themesnothing too distracting. Any help would be amazing, even if its just ideas or recommendations. Just to be clear, even though im aiming for professional quality, this is just a fan project, so there is no money involved. I just hope that people see the quality and want to be involved in something realy special. Thanks
  11. I dont know what the rules are on advertising... i didnt see any:tomatoface: , or an appropriate section. Hope this is ok. Ive just finished redesigning www.thelifestream.net , and figured I would see if any FF7 fans here would be interested in checking it out. We've been around for about 6 months and we're still growing. We recently did a complete overhaul of the site's visuals and content, and are trying to take a fresh approach to fansites. We have some interesting content and a friendly community. Hope you check it out www.thelifestream.net Im probably sounding like a complete noob lol. If anyone likes the visuals of the site, im also working on some of the design for the Missingno tracks... dont know why im writing that, i guess so you know im not just some random noob... though i am really
  12. I was thinking about how you were saying about hiding little easter eggs within the site. I thought the black could be fun to have unowns appear if you roll over them. I have no idea how to do that, but im pretty sure its relatively simple html.
  13. That's what she said. Anyway, I was thinking of this as the cover art, but a longer shot. Thats supposed to be a pokemon in the background btw. And it should be a pokemon near the beginning, so its like the start of the journey. And the back cover could be a shot of the shore of cinabar island, like Poinko sketched. Also I posted this on the forums just before they went down. Its just a basic idea for a website http://pixel.finalfantasyxiii.net/ Hope the forums are back up soon
  14. Any idea when the forums will be back up? No rush... I just need to get opinions on a few things before I can crack on with stuff.
  15. Sorry, didnt mean to step on anyones toes there. There just didnt seem to be much happening with the artwork... well, from what i could see here anyway. You should let cobaltstar continue with what he's doing, and ill step aside. i guess i can chip in ideas in this thread. Feel free to delete the account over there. And dont worry, you can trust me not to distribute anything.
  16. Awesome, I love your style, especially the colouring you've used in the soggy socks piece. Have you regisered here yet? http://poke.prxbx.com/forums/index.php Id love to talk more about what exactly we need. Things have gone a little cold on the artwork side, so its great to see more enthusiasm. And maybe it'll spur on the remixers
  17. Messing around in photoshop, figured id try to make something to pitch to you
  18. Do you have a list of available tracks? Im not very experienced, but i can give something a go. Also, im somewhat of a pixel artist, so if i can help with any little pieces of pixelart, id be honoured. There are some examples in my sig, and here http://pixeljoint.com/pixelart/35566.htm#c204901 http://pixeljoint.com/pixelart/35567.htm#c201459 http://pixeljoint.com/pixelart/35583.htm and http://www.ff-xiii.net/boards/showthread.php?t=3927
  19. Wow, i just found this by accident when looking for pokemon remixes. Im a wee bit late to even attempt a remix. But i was wondering, does Poinko have the artwork done and dusted already? As soon as i saw this thread, i had a few ideas i could pitch, maybe some sketches... that is if the designs havent been finalised yet, which id imagine they are. Anyway, cant wait to see the final result. Good luck.
  20. wow ive never seen this project before. I definitely would have tried out for a few roles from the start. I was wondering, could i audition by sending an email of a few clips in an mp3. Ive tried Ventrilo and programs like it for podcasts and commentaries, and the quality isnt the best. Also, ill probably be working during the audition times. btw, do you have any examples of what's been done so far, like a video clip with voices dubbed, just to see what is in store for us. And could drum up support, and participation. Also, if you're looking for some FF comunities to advertise/audition from, try www.FF-XIII.net and www.thelifestream.net . They're nice and friendly
  21. Man, that guy is annoying. I hate that obnoxious style of presenting. Anyway, great interview... well, great interviewee
  22. Gah, this brings back memories of my frustrations with FFXII. I love the overall feel. The celtic influences definitely speak to me as an irish person. But i was a little thrown by what sounded like caribbean steel drums(?). It just kinda took me out of the soothing feel that the celtic instrumentation gave. Maybe it will grow on me. Id love to be able to make a celtic piece with Uilleann Pipe, tin whistle, flute. They make such a beautiful sound. But i have neither the skills, nor the resources, so its great to hear celtic influences in others works.
  23. Thats for next week. Heres the summary for next weeks show: With games like Castle Wolfenstein 3-D and Doom, video games grew from their primitive 2-D roots into richly detailed 3-D worlds. These groundbreaking 3-D games led the industry down new paths, both thrilling and troubling. Designers now had the technology to create games that accurately simulated the real world. For the first time, game designers had to grapple with a difficult question — how long before a game was nearly indistinguishable from reality? For all the controversy surrounding the first-person shooter genre in video games, its popularity was undeniable. And in the wake of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, the same government that fought to regulate video games quickly designed their own as a recruiting tool for the Army. America's Army was born and an even more sensitive debate arose as to the morality of recruiting young men for real war through the fun of a video game. Were games desensitizing us to the very real pain of violence and war? And more importantly, were video games leading us on a march towards virtual war? Some people interviewed in this episode include Colonel Casey Wardynski (director and project originator of America's Army) and Asi Burak (producer of Peacemaker — a computer game simulation of the Israeli-Arab conflict).
  24. Does anyone know where I could get a soundfont for Uilleann Pipes? Its an Irish wind instrument with a very distinctive sound. Ive been looking around for ages and can only find it on EWQLSO. Which I wouldnt be able to buy. Any help would be greatly appreciated You can here a sample here http://www.celticpiper.net/instrumnt.htm
  25. Ok, uploaded to Tindeck. Thanks for your help. Click here to listen!
