  1. There's a bunch of sections that sound like they were directly ripped from Borodin's Polovetsian Dances. This is cool, I guess, but I wish it wasn't so jarring since they are so blatant.
  2. All I can say is "wow." This is one of the most interesting remixes I have heard. It is one of the remixes that just makes you stop doing everything and just listen to it. It would be great in the new Dance Dance Revolution with Mario game. I would love to dance to this!
  3. The source material is probably one of my favorite songs from a videogame ever. Needless to say, I was extremely happy when I heard this - I first thought it was the DKC2 swamp theme but then it turned into the awesome first area theme "Rigging". I am too excited to post an actual review with substance but rest assured that you've made me very satisfied by covering this song.
  4. I don't know what to say, except download it now. This is the best new remix in a LONG time.
  5. Eh, it's above average, but there are just way too many remixes of this song.
  6. OK, wow, this pretty much sucks. Violin is horribly horribly out of tune and there's very little actual rearrangement. It's also painfully obvious that the violinist is rather mediocre. The parts where it's just the violin and the guitar playing the same notes over and over gets quite boring after a while - how about something interesting and new? When the cello gets in its a bit better, and sounds very "spooky", but a few seconds of something interesting doesn't save almost 4 minutes of crap. The ending is awful as well. Sorry to Select Start, but try (a lot) harder next time. One good thing: their site is sort of cool. *deletes song*
  7. I completely forgot I had this song until it came up on random playlist. This sounds perfect and professional; absolutely beautiful work. This is a definite "get up and dance" song if there ever was one. Just listening to it again makes me smile. I particularly loved the SMRPG intro part. Keep up the incredible work!
  8. Another fine addition to the cadre of incredible piano arrangements. I love it.
  9. I basically hate rap in all forms, but this isn't so bad. The "I'm yo nigga" chorus is amusing and catchy, and reading the lyrics while listening to the song made me laugh more than once. I like how the song isn't about bling-bling or smacking bitches or killing people (well sort of, but it's funny) or anything. I love the first stanza (mongoli-ON!) and various different lines ("bleed out of various places" made me chuckle). The only technical problem is that near the end, the singers get distractingly out of sync. Otherwise, I like this song. I'm probably not putting it on my playlist since the language is a bit strong for my family but overall a great remix. Now I just have to play this game.
  10. The only things I don't like about this piece are the dissonances (which are everywhere) and the seeming randomness of the notes. These are only obvious on the first listen and become unnoticeable after a few good listens, so it's OK. The song really picks up as it moves on... like past the one minute mark. Overall, it sounds fantastic. Some random thoughts: -I disagree with whoever's comment that the ending didn't provide enough closure; on the contrary, that sort of rushed-sounding ending perfectly fits a wild and vibrant piece like this. -It's definitely not something I want to have on in the background while browsing message boards or doing homework or whatever. This is a great example of music you need to actively listen to. I just can't get over how incredibly rich this remix is. -Good song choice. I've always felt that FF9 music has that sort of hokey quality to it (not in a bad way) that would make most of its songs good for piano arrangements. The rambling note structure in this remix very well fits the time the song is used. The hunting contest in FF9 always has this frantic feeling to it (gotta kill one more bear or Vivi wins!), which is nicely represented in this piece. It wouldn't make sense if you did, say, the Treno or Cleyra music in this manner, but the hunting contest works well.
  11. To tell the truth, I didn't like it very much. Yes, I realize the phrasing, the style, and the transitions are quite good, and the actual arrangement is top-notch. However, the way it sounds so obviously synthesized is annoying. It's hard for me to listen to it without being distracted by the synth tones. I like the arrangement, but I don't like the way it's presented.
  12. This is the second remix that i've heard from Protricity. It's awesome. He really knows how to remix.
  13. This is one GREAT Song ! I mean, i'm a real big fan of the original of this track (Starlight Zone). it sounds more rock than game now. I love it. Crap it! But, as I try to make a Sonic remix it won't work ( )See yaz later!
