  1. I saw tons of posts about FNaF on Tumblr and was interested. Turns out it actually is one of the most unsettling games of all time. @_@ As a result, I'm gonna... I'm just gonna put this here...
  2. I wish I could say my career goals were to become a successful producer/DJ, as that's what I really want to do, but it's unlikely at this point, so my goal now is to get a job in Optics/Optical Physics to fund my producing/DJing/YouTube hobbies.
  3. I'm excited for Shadow but I'm sure that he won't be as interesting a character as he was in Sonic Adventure 2. Shadow has always been a character with way more potential than Sonic Team has explored. He was essentially made from the ground up to be a weapon. Does he have emotions? A comprehensive sense of morality? Hopes and dreams that even he with his immense strength struggles to reach? These could be interestingly complex themes to explore that Sonic Team never will because the writing has gotten so kiddy. ^^;;; I guess Sonic Boom won't be that kind of franchise. Still hoping the TV show will be fun. ^^
  4. A PC port of Sonic 3 and Knuckles was the first real game I ever played, but I couldn't get past Hydrocity Zone Act 2 for years and ESPECIALLY couldn't figure out that barrel in Carnival Night Zone for many more, like a lot of people. ...and it's still one of my favorite games of all time. Also, I guess I've never finished Metroid Prime even though I've had it for two years. Huh. I guess that's what happens when I'm distracted and busy.
  5. ProJared played the games at E3 and felt they were stupid. They didn't look that great, either - a little bit too much beat 'em up for a Sonic game. I'd like for it to be good, but 13+ years of being a Sonic fan have taught me not to get my hopes up... Regardless, happy birthday, Sonic!
  6. I come mostly from the Sonic fandom, and I have to say I already like sticks - she's adorable. ^^ As a show for kids, the whole project looks promising. As for the game, I liked the speed segments a lot, but the bulk of the game is wandering into generic beat-em-up territory and I'm starting to get wary. Nearly 15 years of being a Sonic fan has taught me not to get my hopes up when it comes to this, but I will be pleasantly surprised if the Sonic Boom team can come up with a quality game.
  7. Awesome! A fellow Sonic the Hedgehog EDM ReMixer! This one is a really solid dance track that has an arrangement that stays fresh throughout the entire four-and-a-half-minute run of the track. The only thing I felt could've helped this track was a little more mixing work to clean up some of the muddier areas, and in particular, I thought that the song was a little too "top-heavy" at the 0:21 mark (not enough bass or low-midrange, even for the pre-drop part of the track) and the kick drum at that time marker sounded a little too much like a weak slap and could've had a little more punch to it (the same could sorta be said for most of the drums here, too). I only say this because it's an issue I'm trying to fix in my own Sonic EDM mixes, and it really is pretty nitpicky overall, because I love this track! ^^ Keep going, Paul John! I really like your debut, and I'm looking forward to seeing what else you can do.
  8. My favorite runs of AGDQ 2014 were blindfolded runs of and I won't tell you exactly how well each of them do, but rest assured, each of them certainly "go the distance"; far better than most can hope to do with their eyes on such difficult games, let alone blindfolded.
  9. I can't believe I missed out on this one. ^^;;; Oh well, I hope there's another competition next year! In the meantime, I'm going to enjoy all of the wonderful tracks that everyone else has made!
  10. I don't know if anyone mentioned this, but my brother and I agreed that we'd really like to see some kind of create-a-custom-character feature in Smash 4. That way, you could have something akin to putting in whatever character you want into the game without having to use a ROM-hack or something. I feel that custom movesets like those that Sakurai announced could be super cool, and I would hope that they would take this concept to the next level by making entire characters customizable. What does everyone think about this?
  11. Hi everyone! My name is Christopher Hoef, but I produce electronic dance music under the name Mesmerist. For the past year and a half, I have been producing Sonic the Hedgehog remixes, mainly sharing them with The Sonic Stadium community at sonicstadium.org . I was mainly hoping to use the OC remix community as an resource for learning how to add a greater level of quality to my remixes. I look up to other EDM remixers like Ben Briggs, RobKTA, Rexy, and DJ EAR when it comes to this kind of production, and I hope to reach their quality level someday, ideally sooner as opposed to later. I use FL Studio as my DAW and consider drum loops and sound synthesis to be my greatest strengths. The area of production in which I need to most improve in undoubtedly mixing an mastering, and would appreciate as much help as possible when it comes to that. At the same time, I want to use proper etiquette when using the OC remix forums. I want to provide at least as much feedback as I leave, and I hope to use these forums fairly frequently. If anyone wants to direct me to certain addresses on this website that would be helpful for a newbie Sonic EDM remixer like myself to expand, I would appreciate that very, very, very much! I hope to have a great experience here on these forums, and I'm looking forward to communicating with all of you. ^^ Thanks, -Mesmerist P.S. You can find most of my Sonic Remixes here: https://soundcloud.com/mesmerist-the-cat ...and most of my other tracks here: https://soundcloud.com/mesmerist
