  1. This is a labor of love. With each track I try to capture some of what I perceived to be the intent of the original tracks. From the militaristic-bureaucratic bustle of UNATCO, to the windy quiet of Liberty Island, to the blast of chopping wind as a helicopter takes JC to his destination. The goal is to stay as true to the original as possible, but with some modern flair where technology is more capable now. Long way to go, but some of the tracks so far: UNATCO Theme: https://soundcloud.com/atrin-assa/unatco-orchestral-prominent-root?in=atrin-assa/sets/deus-ex-definitive-orchestral Liberty Island Ambience: https://soundcloud.com/atrin-assa/liberty-island-definitive-orchestral?in=atrin-assa/sets/deus-ex-definitive-orchestral Battery Park Chopper Ride: https://soundcloud.com/atrin-assa/battery-park-chopper-ride?in=atrin-assa/sets/deus-ex-definitive-orchestral
  2. REQUEST: please listen to at least 30 seconds of the track to increase the play counter. This way I can tell someone has actually listened to it, rather than being left wondering why this post has so many views that doesn't result in more plays. I've been working on a new remix for some time and think its about ready for a first feedback round. I've created an alternative version of Aquatic Ambience (Donkey Kong Country) to go with the polluted version of the underwater stage. It includes bits from Kremlantis Submerged from Donkey Kong Land and I wrote an original ending to it. I went for a more dark and dramatic mood in the harmony while retaining most of the original melodies and sound FX. The whole thing kind of happened by accident when I was playing around with chords after trying to figure out what David Wise did with the original to make it so awesome sounding. I'm quite happy with it, but this time I want to go beyond where I usually give up, so I'm asking for feedback on these specific areas: * Overall mixing levels (any problematic areas?) * Transitions (do they work well enough?) Feel free to remark on any other important areas that I missed. I've spent a lot more time learning about and mixing and EQ-ing and stuff, but I'm still finding the whole thing difficult Anyway, here it is: https://soundcloud.com/bloominglatemusic/polluted-paradise-aquatic-ambience-from-dkc-cover Enjoy! 3. I submitted this track back in October 2019 and the judges asked me to resubmit due to hot mixing and some realism issues with the orchestra section of this track. So far I remixed all the instruments and reamped the bass to be less overbearing. But the main worry I've had is that, while the judges heard clipping and pumping, I did not hear any clipping or pumping on my end during playback. But still, I dropped all my levels and adjusted the limiter on the master track. I'm told no more than -4db of attenuation is recommended so I've adjusted for that. But that also makes the track quieter than I'd like and probably below standard in terms of volume. Now I can lower the threshold more and get maybe -6.5db attenuation and I still wouldn't hear any pumping or clipping but the judges probably might and I'm not sure why they would if no clipping is even showing on the meters in my PT session. So instead of trying to be a shining knight in the loudness war I'm willing to sacrifice a few dB of loudness for the sake of dynamics and a cleaner mix. As for the orchestra section, I'm in the process of replacing EWQLSO with Hollywood Orchestra and getting the right accents in line is gonna take time. But I at least wanted feedback in terms of mix in general. So, here it is. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1fV77OXJS5ePgVAc6ZlB4RO2ZYJd1dRsd/view?usp=sharing
  4. Had some extra time for the past few months due to COVID-19, so took a crack at a new remix. It's Dire Dire Docks from Super Mario 64. I'm not looking for any mod feedback. Just wanted to share for anyone willing to listen. Thank you for listening! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=72OwNmhbVpk Source OST: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GBPbJyxqHV0
  5. Hi all, Thought I'd drop this here for some honest feedback. Its based on an older version that I uploaded to the site like 2-3 years ago and its changed pretty drastically since then. However, it's still very much a work in progress at this stage due to the change in direction. Thought I'd also drop a few musical references from other tracks in the OST...so think of it like a game trying to spot them I guess Cheers in advance for anyone who spares the time to have a listen!
  6. So this is something I just started. It's made using Caustic, an Android app on my phone. This is just the beginning of it. The sound of it is a little inspired by Raiden's Mortal Kombat theme, so I made a cheeky name up for the tune. Thanks for the listen! 7. The prodigal son has returned after a long decade hiatus! I just found out that Toontrack is releasing a Latin Library called Latin Breeze by June https://www.toontrack.com/latin/ And this would be a great opportunity to remake the remix I did back in 2009 but got it posted by 2011 now that I upgraded from an old octa core Amd fx to a core i9 9900k! Whis me luck and please stay safe! - DJ AKX Nǝmǝsis
  8. This is something I put together during breaks at work. I have a toddler, so time for doing anything musical is pretty much nonexistent. It was made using an app called Caustic on my cell phone. It's a redo of something I have posted on the forums before under a different name. When I first heard the app, I immediately thought of the sound of mod music on an Amiga computer, so I went with it. I used every machine the app has to try them all out, instead of just using the ones I think work/sound better. Tell me what you think:) https://drive.google.com/file/d/12maAZAic9CGEE7uxC204r5BkOk9omcGu/view?usp=drivesdk
  9. Hi there, I've been working on some remixes and have picked up music again after a long time due to life/health reasons etc. and I'm enjoying myself so far I'd like to get some feedback on this remix I've prepared, and I've got a couple more ideas as well so I'm hoping I can have some luck with getting some of my mixes accepted. Source Friends Area Oceanic It's a very atmospheric and minimal take as the source material is not particularly melodic or complex, and as it stands I'm not sure how the arrangement stands in terms of OCRemix standards, but my idea was to create an atmospheric soundscape that reflects the physical environment/theme of the area. Though I'm quite happy in terms of the progress I've made with sound design and creating cool sounds and that I've been able to create from the things that have inspired me Some things I'm aware of and would like to work on: The mixing was honestly a mess and this and other mixes were made in a way I wouldn't do now. However, I'm determined to salvage it because I quite like the overall idea. minimal references to source material - I can easily find space to insert more of the main motifs from the source, they were mostly left out due to muddiness and to create a clean aesthetic, I didnt want to overwhelm the general synth ideas I had (that water-sounding granular pad) as I wanted to give it room to breathe. bass - I think I'll replace the bass as atm it's a basic sine sub. I couldn't get it to fit very well at all. I took the volume down because it was drowning out, but now it's too quiet. punchy snare - I kind of went with this snare so its sitting, but it sort of fits for me, so I've kind of left it. Like I said I'm mostly trying to salvage the ideas here so I don't know how much I'm going to rework things. drum variation - this can be fixed easily with a little work, but I'd like to see if i'm going in the right direction first! That's all for now, I'm worried it might be a little "light" for OCRemix as I wasn't really creating it with anything in mind other than something that sounded good, but I think it has a sort of relaxed ambient kind of vibe that sounds quite nice, as that is the kind of music that most influences me, please let me know what you think!
  10. Actually a mix of two songs from the game. Will extend it later. Originals: Remix: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ijOT_Q3yC45wIcYVFtxgQ0C3gdmQZvbU/view?usp=sharing
  11. I've been working on a guitar-heavy cover/remix of some Castlevania stages. I'm still working on the composition. This is a very early draft. It still has some timing problems and I'm not totally happy with the arrangement. I'm going for a "rock" sound with some "blues rock" feel. I'm generally happy with the section from 1:20-2:20. I'm thinking about expanding on those ideas and cutting some of the other sections. Does anyone have any other suggestions to improve the arrangement? All guitars and bass were recorded live. The guitars are using various fuzz pedals (hence the track name "Fuzzy Belmont") with a little delay/reverb. The drums are simple MIDI loops with a few fills. I'm still learning MIDI so I'm hoping I can make it sound better in the future. Thanks! -Rob
  12. Hmmm... https://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/927197 Should I mix it up like a full OC ReMix rearrangement, but keep the sound on the SEGA Genesis sound chip? I'm thinking yes.
  13. I wanted to do a ska version of the mako reactor from ff7. I have the a midi version finished, but now I am working on adding instruments into the slots. Any and all suggestions and critiques are welcome.
  14. This is really more of a shitpoast than a serious remix https://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/925412 Enjoy!

  16. https://soundcloud.com/andrethexlr8r/dangerwork-in-progress-snes-tropics-remix Hey islanders and mainlanders! I'm nearing completion of SNESTropics (A StarTropics Super Nintendo Remix Album). Set for release end of this month April or worst case early May. Currently working on mixes. Wondering if anyone has tips for this mix. Flatness, stereo spread, EQ, compression, etc. How far should I pan some of the instruments? My main approach usually is to have two different melody instruments voicing, panned 10L and 10R (Sometimes up to 30L and 30R) and then other instruments in the center. I'd appreciate any feedback at all. I'm using SNES soundfonts along with Super Audio Cart. Effects-wise for this track I'm using Valhalla vintage verb and Delay. Other tracks I use SNESverb. Composed in Logic Pro X. Original: Thanks!
  17. Here is the beginning of my remix for Estate Betrayal...I'll need to work on the drums next. I need to also get the attack right on the strings so that they swell more!
  18. Current link: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1qJrci747-KNq6ZZEX7NmBzr8KqszVA8G Just kind of a doodle for now, but I might develop this into a more complete mix further down the road. What think y'all?
  19. Hello! Brand new to the VGM remixing scene. I started this song forever ago and stalled out. Finally got around to finishing a rough cut (thank you, social distancing) and would welcome some feedback on how to make it more interesting. I'm also kinda bad at telling what needs EQing, so I welcome feedback on that as well. Thanks for listening! https://drive.google.com/file/d/1aG6KfJAQRH25GYhUJvGKUKgXMqBUx5Ql/view?usp=sharing
  20. Made this for MnP111 https://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/920748 I'm thinking of doing more, since it's 100% source material with added 808 bass and percussion. So, just barely not a MIDI rip.
  21. This is different than what I have tried before:) It's supposed to be a rock band playing the tune. I don't know guitar worth a damn, but I tried adding some automation to some guitar parts to make them sound more "human", but I didn't want to overdo it. Remix then original are posted. Thanks for feedback!:) Remix Original Remix https://drive.google.com/file/d/18_SHAPTKIAORVq0P6YcpNAGUcVwHPwlo/view?usp=sharing
  22. I've always wanted to do an arrangement of this tune, which plays as you and your partner tuck in for the night after completing a mission. A few days ago, inspiration struck, and I developed a swingy lo-fi hip-hop rendition with a more cheerful chord progression. I'm pretty happy with the sound and mix currently, and have a friend working on a saxophone solo for the middle rep where the lead drops out around 1:22, but I'd like to have some extra ears on it before I call it cooked. https://clyp.it/xvmn2ain
  23. This is a sketch I made a couple of years ago but seemingly never posted here for some reason. Is it anything I should consider finishing? Thoughts/critique/suggestions welcome! Note that this is the intro from Belmont's revenge for the Gameboy, not Simon's quest for the NES. Original:
  24. Long time since I stopped by here. The pandemic at least allows for some studio time... Here is a metal version of "Epic war" from the first ever RTS, Dune 2 by Westwood. Not sure who wrote the original, but Frank Klepacki was involved even back then so lets say this is one of his. I think it sounds evil enough. Thoughts are welcome. Is the arrangement metal enough? Is the mix in the ballpark? Is it too short? Are vocals kosher around here? Other opinions? Original:
