Instrumental & Vocal Skills (Other)

  1. I did H’aanit’s Theme in a big band-style arrangement. It was a tough one with the amount of live instruments, but I’m curious to know what people think. Enjoy!
  2. Despite being a massive fan of Zelda music (OoT and MM's are one of my favorites), I had somehow never heard of this track. It's a simple farm/country style track from Majora's Mask; I remade it and added a few things to make it unique. Hope you give it a listen if you haven't heard the original before! -Juke
  3. Me and my good friend Vincent Moretto made this cover of Otherworld from Final Fantasy X by Nobuo Uematsu. I'm really happy with how it turned out and any constructive thoughts would be appreciated!
  4. **Re-uploaded to fix title card typo** You can also DL it here if you prefer. https://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/1072649
  5. When the Sega Genesis port of Fatal Fury 2 was released by Takara in 1994, I got a copy as quickly as I could, and spent many hours (too many lol) playing the game, honing my skills with Mai But the Sega Genesis port of Fatal Fury 2 was good for more than allowing me time at home to practice before going to the arcade. the Sega Genesis port of Fatal Fury 2 not only features some of the best music arrangements on the Genesis hardware, but arguably features a better soundtrack than it's SNES counterpart, especially when it comes to Mai Shiranui's stage theme, "Enryuujin" aka "Flame Dragon God" While the SNES version is to be appreciated for offering a funky bass groove, and instrumentation that closely matches the Neo Geo MVS version of the theme, the Sega Genesis take on Mai's theme has a fat, driving bass line, a punchy snare drum, and SO MANY shamisen arpeggios!! The polyphony of the Sega Genesis version of "Enryuujin" is so impressive that I feel it rivals Yuzo Koshiro's work on Streets of Rage 2, which is no small feat My arrangement draws many cues from the Sega Genesis version of Mai's theme, chiefly the bass line and use of arpeggios for polyphony, but differs in how the arpeggios are played, the inclusion of an entirely new drum pattern, and the addition of wood block percussion and a taiko drum. Also of note about my arrangement is the rhodes piano harmony I played over the bass line. Oh, and for those curious about the title of my remix, "Kagerōnomai" is a Japanese phrase that roughly translates to "Dance of Heat Haze," and comes from one of Mai's most famous super moves. I had a lot of fun creating this remix, so I hope you all have even more fun listening to it Kagerōnomai Source
  6. Source: Woah Newgrounds Front-Paged it! Nice https://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/1066067
  7. A chilled out mellow tune by David Wise. Took me a while longer to do this one, wasn't happy with how it was turning out, so I wanted to give it a bit of extra TLC.
  8. Pretty much a 1:1 cover, with some changes to the percussion, instruments and a little outtro fanfare. Gave it an 80's synth-rock vibe with the power of Omnisphere 2. Enjoy!
  9. Hello there! As I'm between projects, I'm just working on keeping my YouTube channel going lol. I been working on this for a week and I think it had some nice ideas going for it. I wrote some more details in the description but basically, I wanted to do some FFIX stuff in honor of a vtuber I like watching LOL. Anyway, I hope you find something enjoyable about it. It was fun to work on.
  10. A Redditor requested this, so I thought eh what the hell, I'll do a request for once. So here it is.
  11. The snow theme for DKC 3 If Eveline Fischer had a modern DAW but with an 80s twist this time.
  12. It has been a while since I have worked on a remix (or any piece of music). I had told my brother that I really wanted to remix this tune sometime. So, I did. This is based on stalker.mid from Duke Nukem 3D as found in the MSDOS version of the game. The structure of this remix does not stray too far from the original. I did so purposely as I was not trying to change the genre of the song. Rather, I wanted to honor the original and improve it in my own way. The improvements include the obvious and the not-so-obvious. Among the improvements are instrumentation, sound quality, pacing, a new section, increased energy, and an actual ending (the original looped). I did change some of the notes. I do not know whether I made enough changes to be an appropriate OCR submission. Please take a listen and let me know. Also, I would greatly appreciate any and all feedback (both positive and negative). Also, I am aware of very slight distortion at the loudest moments of the song. In the FLAC rendition this does not exist. In the MP4 render (which uses WAV) it is present. I tried for quite a while to get rid of it but I could only greatly reduce it. I wonder what the problem was? Most people probably will not notice and I even have a hard time noticing it. Thank you!
  13. Remix on Soundcloud, with download option: (Edit: I updated the version on Soundcloud with some changes so the old link/embed no longer works. Here is a direct link to the version I originally posted in this thread, hosted elsewhere: http://cjdevsite.com/misc/music/Frozen-Moonlight-remix-WIP-4.mp3. Or see my post below for the updated Soundcloud link.) Original track on YouTube: *quick note about the source material: like many PC-98 games, "Valkyrie: The Power Beauties" has NSFW/adult content, so be warned before you go Googling this one on the family computer About this remix I've been wanting to cover/remix this song for a while. I'm a sucker for many PC-98 soundtracks with their octave-jumping FM basslines and their warbling lead synths. This track has all of that, plus plenty of energy. With this remix, I didn't want to significantly change the feel from the original track, but instead expand on it with new variations on the melody and phrasing (and of course moving beyond the capabilities of the YM2608 sound chip). Instrumentation: The overall sound is rock/metal, with drums, bass, lead guitar, rhythm guitar, and 2x keyboard. But I also didn't hold back on some very "synthy" sounds for the keys, as is immediately clear with the arpeggio pattern in the intro. Structure: in the source track, there is a brief intro followed by a repeating loop (first loop at about 1:09) I expanded the intro so that the instruments and overall intensity can build up incrementally at first I stick fairly close to the original, with the lead guitar carrying the melody the second time around, I drop the lead guitar and add a keyboard solo (organ) the third time, I lengthen and shorten a few sections and play around with the melody a bit more About me I'm a long-time lurker on OCRemix, and I've always enjoyed making music as a hobby. Mostly I make little half-completed songs to amuse myself or short compositions for game jams (e.g. https://soundcloud.com/docjekyll/harriets-hasty-harvest-bgm). For this remix, I wanted to post it and see if others think it is ready to submit to OCRemix or not. Any feedback is welcome!
  14. A fun forest tune by Eveline Fischer brought to life with modern instrumentation and software!
