Dragon Warrior III 'Flight of Destiny' Another soft and melodic yet playful bit of music from our resident electronic orchestra conductor, Russell Cox. It's always fantastically dramatic with this guy, isn't it? A beautiful mix of strings, brass, and wind instruments, topped of with a piano like a cherry on a cream pie. But of course you must have a taste for classical to get anything out of this. Try it just to see. Stunningly beautiful piece of work, Russell Cox.

Friday the 13th 'Panic at Camp Crystal' Creepy! Absolutely perfect for Halloween. The use of orchestral string instruments in this song is amazing. I should have had this playing in a stereo sitting outside my front door just to freak out the kids. And then the whole song turns right around into this goofy electronic bit. Which is really amazingly well done, but what the hell?! I was really getting off on those orchestral strings. I think it would have been nicer as two different full length songs, but ah well. Excellent work Ghetto Lee Lewis. -
Ok... this is... yeah. Ok, really neat. Nothing really "wrong" with the notation or instrumentation here. Just solid work really. The only thing I might have changed was the attack on the strings. A lot of times they seemed to be behind the beat (maybe the intention, though I can't imagine why), especially the strings with slow attack, and then the staccato (not to be confused with pizzicato) strings seemed to be just a tad behind, which might be fixed by simply moving the notes back a fraction of a step. But anyway, other than that and the fact that it didn't seem loud enough (could be my speakers), this was one solid piece of work. Nice mix of orchestral and electronic elements and to be quite honest, it reminded me of the music from "The Saint" a bit. Anyway, don't miss this one. It's a keeper (like one of those wives that you don't want to cheat on... do those exist?). DC -
Super Ghouls'n Ghosts 'Ice Mountain Symphony' Mythical sounding strings and flutes start out this light hearted cover of the Ice Mountain theme. I rather enjoy the ethereal quality of the instruments and theme. They fit together very well. A shame this one is so short, but you can only get so much of a good thing. -
Mega Man 2 'Bubble Man (Electron Mix)' Organ does the main tune as fake guitars, bass etc come in and out playing different parts. More panning should have been done here, but it's still quite acceptable. The drums have a short delay on them which sounds sort of cool, and there's just enough variety to keep you interested. Some of the highs are a little sharp, but it's still ok for the most part. Ok song, but could have been better in the creativity department. -
Sonic 3D Blast (SAT) 'Snow' Well this is something interesting. Somebody should go play this in a mall on the eve of Christmas while everyone’s shopping. That ought to get some heads bobbing in the heat of the Christmas rush, especially with that little interlude at about 1:03. Great work, Jivemaster, keep it up.

NiGHTS into dreams... 'Merry Little Christmas' This is a very light, very Christmassy piece. It’s too bad its late spring, because I’m sure I could give this a much better review on December 24th. But I will say that it does put me in the mood for some eggnog, regardless of what time of year it is. Excellent work, Dale North, keep it up.

Donkey Kong Country 'Christmas Cave' I love what Deimos has done here. A very interesting melody, but don’t think that just because I say melody that it’s boring. This one keeps changing things up, and moves to a new feel, and then back again. Not for those who need high energy techno, or hard core rock to survive, I’ll admit, but calm soothing music has its charm as well. I love this piece, Deimos, great work.

Street Fighter II 'Tatsumakisenputronic' Awesome electronic sounds and it’s just the right length if you’re a fan of techno. I love the mood that is set by the chords and piano in the beginning that carries right into the high energy techno beats. The voice samples add an emphasis of power and strength that reflects the attitude of the game. An excellent mix DJ StarBLaSt, and well worth the download.

EarthBound 'Sound Stone (C Major)' Spekkosaurus with a piano exclusive rendition of EarthBound. Quite realistic sounding, but the bad thing about this is the nasty high-end crackle which appears after the choir sound enters. It sort of ruins it in some way. Still, I really like the effort and bravery that went into this, but it's just a little long and some parts didn't keep my interest for long enough (especially when the bass plays on it's own).

Ultima IV 'Trollbash' I really like the opening. After that it goes nuts, but still remains pretty good. It goes hardcore. Hardcore what? Well not techno, not rock, just hardcore! In order to find out you'll have to listen!

Star Fox 'Clan McCloud' I think right before he made this tune djp must have went to the music store and purchased some new instruments and/or software because the sound quality of his mixes started making leaps and bounds forward with this cool tune. The percussion is particularly good, I think. So are the strings which sound very smooth and clean. In the second half the song quiets down to make room for some cool piano, then gets going again. I thought that was a brilliant touch. Nothing at all bad to say about this ReMix. Well I could probably find something bad if I really wanted to, but I don't want to.

Phantasy Star 'Alis Overture' I really like this mix. I'm not entirely sure, but it might be a remix of the ending theme. Or maybe not. It's hard to say as I really don't hear a lot of Phantasy Star in this mix It's mostly original djp music it seems. Good thing he's a good musician! Regardless, it pays a phantastic tribute tribute to a phenomenal game for a very underlooked system. This game was better than any of the NES Final Fantasy's, IMO. This tune fits the mood of the game.

Phantasy Star III 'Legacy' When there is an arrangement from Phantasy Star 3, this is the track that usually gets the attention. But that's because most people never get past the title screen, which this theme is based on. There is lots of other good music in PS3, don't get me wrong. Anyway djp has taken the title theme and made it sound like it would have if it ever came out for the Sega CD (re: nice and clean). Considering that this is one of djp's early efforts, it does impress. I'd love to see what he could do with this tune on his current hardware/software setup.
