  1. I finished my new original song "Virtual Quest 1". It's kind of futuristic theme, composed with video games, movies and animations in mind. This is my first release where I use synth and orchestral elements together. Here is the song: How did you feel about this song? I'm very interested to hear your thoughts about where you would hear this kind of music.
  2. Finished my new 8-track album! VGM inspired Electronica. A bit atmospheric and melancholic, but I enjoyed working on it. https://audiocolor.bandcamp.com/album/diamond-in-the-rough
  3. I couldn't find any real recreations of this on the internet, so I remade the entire track from by ear. https://soundcloud.com/map3music/agent-xzx-spectrum-remix original: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JOZ8rbmlWrk
  4. I've been doing a side project over the past few years called 1000 Mice. Kind of lo-fi electronic rock / instrumental combo ("lo-fi" sonically and production wise, not chill hip-hop). Heavy emphasis on keeping it simple and utilizing some of my old school keyboards. Made to have almost a warm nostalgic 8-track sound, while still implementing some modern elements. Spaceship Moon is my most recent release and figured I would drop it here, cause why not:) Also, our label, Lo-Fi Solutions, has a lot of random stuff to offer; much unconventional rambling to be had here. Ranging from improvised hand-recorded jams to experimental hiphop and screamo. https://lofisolutions.bandcamp.com/
  5. Hello, I've made a remix of a song by Alphadeus (https://soundcloud.com/alphadeus), a composer who makes lots of videogame-inspired music in various styles. This is my favourite of his tracks, I had fun remixing it. You can hear the original track here:
  6. Hello everyone! First time submitting here, I've been working on a trance remix of the water level music from Wario Land 1. The arrangement is nearly complete and I'd like some feedback on it before I start the mixing/mastering phase. EDIT: The track is finished now and the link updated
  7. Hey guys, I haven't posted anything in a while but I wanted to get some feedback on this remix of mine. I was inspired after hearing the original song and wanted to create a synth version of it. I think it turned out pretty well but I feel like it might be missing the 'epic feel' of the original. Obviously the production quality for League of Legends in much higher but either way I wanted all of your opinions on how I could improve the piece. Thank you so much for listening! The Original song is here:
  8. I remixed this theme because of how darn catchy it is. I wanted to do more with it so I added a little bit of a melody at the end. 9. Greetings everyone, this is a short original I am working on experimenting with synths and a live recording of the bass and percussion (Except the drums). The mixing may be a little muddy or too piercing. I would like to get some feedback on what hurts to hear or what could be changed. To be honest I only play bass guitar and will generally work on tracks from other composers. That said, I am always open for collaborators to jump in and throw out the digital doos. Let me know you think and thank you for listening! Draft 1 [9.28.2017]
  10. A song inspired by classic 90s anime openings. I've been working on this track for a while. the mix is almost finalized, I'm only waiting on finding a saxophonist who'd be willing to record the saxophone parts. For now, the DVS VST will have to suffice. Please feel free to leave any feedback. All constructive criticism is welcome and encouraged, thanks.
  11. So I have a rather deep love for the compositions from ZUN and the touhou series, and of course, I really like the chip-sounds he had created with the PC-98 stuff, which in the past year or two I've tried recreate in some way or form but nothing really gets close enough. As for technical info, that system used the Yamaha YM2608 chip, the big brother of the Sega Genesis's sound-chip, the YM2612 (I happen to own a VST that's based off of that chip, can't remember the name right off the top of my head). Here's an example from Touhou Mystic Sqaure: So my question is, what's out there that can get me close to this? Maybe that shiny new VST that OCR has out?
  12. Hey, this is the first time I've posted anything here! I'm a big fan of what goes on here, so now I'm trying to get involved. I'm a big fan of the NES Mega Man soundtracks, and battle music in general really. This track here is my favorite boss battle theme from the Mega Man series. Arrangement-wise I'm mostly happy with things. Though I've played music for a long time, there's still a ton I don't know about audio production, but I think this one is sounding pretty good so far. Original: Mine:
  13. The soundcloud one has better sound quality. The youtube one shows a screen capture of the track in FL Studio.
  14. Have a couple songs I've been working on that may go on an EP next year. The include original content and covers of classic Christmas Carols including: White Christmas, Oh Holy Night, Oh Come, Oh Come, Emanuel and Carol of bells. All feedback is welcome and appreciated! Thanks!
  15. I was thinking about Phoenix Wright music the other day so I wanted to just go at one and see what I came up with. I don't plan to add anything to it or do anything else to it but if you have any critiques they would still be appreciated for future reference.
  16. I have been working on music since about 2006 I think. Never had anyone teach me or was in band or anything. Just enjoy doing it and did it for years just to listen to myself. I seem to be unable to really purposely make anything of any specific genre. I kind of just do what I wish and something comes out. Anyways what are your opinions on this track? I think it might be too loud (I always worry because my hearing is bad and I don't have any monitors) but another thing, how can I get a cleaner sound? I have included a youtube and a soundcloud link as I know soundcloud has the ability to download and better sound quality. Some people prefer youtube though.
  17. My latest project. This one was fun and really up beat. All critique is welcomed and appreciated. Thanks
  18. A piece I threw together and recorded at my house, I'm just looking for feedback on the composition more than the recording standards itself, But pointers on how to record are well taken as I don't really do Mixes. It was recorded in audacity too make it that much more disgusting. But thank you to everyone who listens too this, it's probably the first video game thing I have recorded properly in a while, and yes All parts bar the drums are real instruments, recorded one over the other.
  19. Here's a synthpop-ish track I made for my mini album/compilation called "Set Sail". Title: CrimsonGenre: SynthpopBPM: 100
  20. Anyone interested in a new T&C Surf Designs remix? I made a music video for it as well.
  21. Not entirely sure about what I'm going to do with this song, but this is my latest song I've been working on. I may be adding it to the album I'm currently producing, still not sure. I would love to hear (or read) thoughts about this. Maybe some improvements or what you overall liked? Thanks
  22. Hello, I am creating my very first song. It's a remix of Chozo ruins with some Nightmare thrown in there. I was thinking of putting the "Metroid Prime Bell" As I like to call it, into the song. The sound I'm talking about can be prominently heard at the beginning of the Parasite queen boss battle at 0:07 to 0:08.https://youtu.be/6DCcCBOmOo0?t=6. This sound really interests me as I remember it being used in other prime tracks. I think the bell would fit my remix rather well but I have had trouble reverse engineering it. I do know the basics of synthesis but I haven't been making music as long as most of you guys have so I thought I would ask for some tips in recreating this sound. I'm working on a strict budget as I have no income at the moment and I can't spare money on super expensive VSTs. I have FL studio producer edition so anything that comes with it, I have.
  23. I'm new at this but I've been playing around with various free synth VSTs for hours now trying to replicate this synth sound at 0:59: I just can't get it quite right. Can anyone give any tips?
  24. Greetings all, So I had recently released an EP, and I totally forgot that I can share my original work here with you guys...which is awesome because this site and the community are awesome. I would love to hear what you guys and gals think. Constructive criticism, opinions and judgements are all welcome. https://soundcloud.com/michaelisel/the-town-of-smiling-machines
