  1. Hey fellas, Here is the newest song I've finished up, with a little gameplay video to go along with it. The next phase in my quest to capture a fever dream in the form of a tune. Check it out and give me your thoughts!
  2. A little mix I made to promote my event series, Gamer's Paradise Party. It mixes indie EDM with video game remixes. Hope you like it! Also on Mixcloud if you prefer.
  3. https://groupees.com/dmvvgm Get 39 tracks from 6 different bands local to our nations capitol! Overclocked University, Rare Candy, Steel Samurai, Master Sword, WASD, and Gunblade X! Available starting at just $1, with a portion of proceeds going to VH1's Save the Music Foundation. This bundle runs from today until January 10th! I'm also pretty sure every member of this bundle will be going to MAGFest!
  4. Hey OC Remix folks! We are DrKrake vs Jellyfish. We've been remixing video game music for quite a while (since 2009), but never really felt the itch to submit anything to OC Remix. Instead, we had a short-lived run on Newgrounds and mostly only uploaded our tracks on YouTube on random occasions. For this Christmas, we decided to release all of our stuff in a big free package and did so in the Super Musical Entertainment System! It's a massive collection of 33 tracks spanning various electronic music genres - trance, goa, house, hardstyle, and everything inbetween. You can grab it (for free, of course) on Bandcamp: drkrakevsjellyfish.bandcamp.com Most (but not quite all) tracks are VGM remixes. As a little special for the OC Remix forum, I'd like to list all tracks with their original sources: 147 (Intro) - not a remix, but uses samples from F-Zero X (N64) and Nagano Winter Olympics '98 (N64) Welcome to Marihuana Kart - trancy remix of the Mario/Luigi/Royal Raceway themes from Mario Kart 64 (N64) Voll Auf Stern - short remix of the infamous Starman tune from many many Mario games Fuckin' Party - hardstyle-ish remix based on the Cameroon theme in Super Soccer (SNES) Snowland - trance-ish remix of the Frappe Snowland theme from Mario Kart 64 (N64) Finish Line - trancy remix of the Mario Circuit theme from Super Mario Kart (SNES) Super Club Bros - housy remix of the infamous main theme of Super Mario Bros (NES) Ein Erfolg - short remix of the Level Clear theme from Super Mario Bros (NES) Romanina - trancy remix based on the Romania theme in Super Soccer (SNES), uses Nina's voice sample from Tekken 3 (PSX) Stellungswechsel - short remix of the Change Court theme from Super Tennis (SNES) Tor für Deutschland - football goal theme based on the Ireland (nope, not Germany ) theme in Super Soccer (SNES) Clowns R Funneh - not a VGM remix, but a remix of the Clown College theme from The Simpsons Archives - psytrance-ish remix of the Archives theme from Goldeneye (N64) How High Can You Get? (Level 1) - psychedelic remix of the Level 1 theme from Donkey Kong (Arcade) A - remix of the A theme from Tetris (Gameboy) Halbzeit - short remix of the Half Time theme from Super Soccer (SNES) Viererkette - trancy remix of the Denmark theme from Super Formation Soccer 2 (SNES) Crackman - short remix of the intro theme from Pacman (Arcade) How High Can You Get? (Level 2) - psychedelic remix of the Level 2 theme from Donkey Kong (Arcade) Headin' For Las Vegas - not a VGM remix, original track using samples from the Beavis & Butthead movie Samstag Nacht - not a VGM remix, completely original house track Omnitopia - new beat remix of the Omnitopia theme from Secret Of Evermore (SNES) (no Square Enix samples are being used) Cruisn' Datteln - mostly original house track based on the House Special theme from Cruisn' USA (N64) How High Can You Get? (Level 3) - a... "remix" of the Level 3 theme (yeah, right) from Donkey Kong (Arcade) How High Can You Get? (Level 4) - psychedelic of the Level 4 theme from Donkey Kong (Arcade) Zum Mond - remix of the second moon level theme from Super Mario Land 2 - 6 Golden Coins (Gameboy) Six Golden Coins - remix of the intro level theme from Super Mario Land 2 - 6 Golden Coins (Gameboy) Yoshi! - remix of the scoreboard theme from Super Mario World 2 - Yoshi's Island (SNES) The Party Never Ends - remix of the Belgium theme from Super Soccer (SNES) Maverick - fast trancy remix of the theme from Dr. Wily's Castle in Mega Man 2 (Gameboy) Mouse Maze - short remix of the stage 1 theme from the Mouse Maze minigame in Fun 'N' Games (SNES) Sonic The Nitzhog - nitzho-goa-ish remix of the bonus stage theme in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (Sega Genesis) Endgegner - hardstyle-ish remix of the Bowser battle theme from Super Mario 64 (N64) We hope you enjoy this album and would be happy about any feedback! A very Merry Christmas!
  5. Hey guys, I'm fairly new here and am just getting started on making original compositions for video games! I made a couple of tracks so far but may need an extra ear to see whether I'm heading in the right direction. Castor's theme attempts to exemplify the logical demeanor of "a man of few words", cold and calculating. Miranda, on the other hand, is a serene yet unyielding spirit. She represents a peaceful return from calamity, a gentle affirmation of small victories. In other words, the Kairi to your Sora for KH fans! Lastly, last chance plays when circumstances have turned for the worst and the protagonists must overcome their plight in absolute desperation I would love to hear what you all think! In the meantime, I'll continue making music as always. Thanks! Jescmo
  6. Streets Of Rage 3 Dance Club remixed with chipsounds and vintage sounds Good Listening and give me your opinion Original Track :

  8. POKEMON GO - Walking - Map Theme - Pixelizer Chiptune REMIX Good Listening and give me your opinion Original track :
  9. Hey guys, just wanted to share my new song - trying to indulge in as many video game-esq melodies as possible
  10. Hey OCR I'm looking to get involved in a few projects to help build my skills and confidence as a musician. I normally direct and produce albums with lots of other musicians, but I felt it was about time I started focusing on myself and what I can do. This year I have been contributing vocals to a few tracks on Newgrounds, with a few more still in the works. If you have a project you feel I would be suitable in, please get in touch and let me know what it's all about. I do request that you have a proven track record of completing projects, because my time is important. I won't contribute to something that I don't feel will be completed, and sadly that is all too common (although sometimes beyond peoples control). I also request that your project is non-profit if I am working on it for free. If you plan to license and sell your music, we would need to discuss that in more detail. In return you'll get an enthusiastic, motivated vocalist who is willing to learn and improve. You can also be assured that I take deadlines very seriously and will stay in good communication throughout. Please check out what I have on Newgrounds so far, with more to come! http://darrenkerwin.newgrounds.com/
  11. Hi folks hope you enjoy - all done in Renoise https://soundcloud.com/garth_knight/wolverine-theme-arcade-power-mix-garth-knight
  12. Third finished track of my vgm demo project. This one was written with the image of a tribal, arctic village. Children are running around, the men are fishing and the women are relaxing after lunch's prep and clean up, sunlight glancing off of the snow and water in a dazzling show. It's then coupled with a playful, easygoing sense of camaraderie like two close friends having a toast after a nice catch. Same thing, any critiques or advice are welcome.
  13. Second finished track of my vgm demo project. This one was written to the image of a small hamlet in the forest, still and quiet as a layer of mist and dew covers the ground at dawn, the light dim, just before everyone wakes up to go about the days business. I tried to capture that still feeling that early mornings seem to exude so well and marry it to an almost idyllic atmosphere. Any advice or critiques are completely welcome, always looking to improve myself.

  17. Hello, I use Ableton Live as a DAW for a couple of years. But my question is more general. I would like to know your workflow of doing VGM arrangement. I would guess that I should first find out the chords and melody ; put them into midi. And then get my prefered VSTI and VST to get things moved along to build my arrangement. Would you mind sharing your workflow with me ? Second question, do you do start to finish only one track per time ? or do you work on 5 (or more) tracks !? Thx in advance
  18. Friendly greetings! Rpgmaker.net video game community presents Summoner of Sounds: A Community Journey in Video Game Music! Summoner of Sounds is a series of interactive community events where video game music will be celebrated by the means of craftsmanship and community interaction. Members of video game community with experience in music production will be dared to participate in challenges testing their ability to perform well as a versatile video game composer, while the game developers with other areas of expertise are encouraged to analyze the challenges, and provide the composers with commentary, feedback and constructive criticism. The RPG Maker Network offers an extensive network of gamers and game developers, both hobbyists and professionals. RMN will bring the participants visibility, and the yields of each challenge will be shared on RMN's social media during the course of the events. Summoner of Sounds series will be creating composers a portfolio, but it will also be creating the community a whole lot of great video game music! Everyone may also post ideas of any themes they would like to hear. If the ruleset permits, a composer may very well decide to compose your idea. This event series is designed to help the composers of the game development community come together, challenge their know-how and showcase their creative efforts, and the rest of the community to come in contact with the composers. Will you be able to take on the challenge? Can you become the Summoner of Sounds, or even something more? Check out our first challenge and hop right into the action at the Summoner of Sounds event page!
  19. Aside from 2 Remix WIPS, I have two Original Tracks uploaded to Soundcloud for all to enjoy! Let me know what you all think. I'm still working on the details to mixing with Cubase, but I feel like these are coming along nicely.
  20. Hey everyone I'm currently 26, and been a fan of vgm since I can recall, It all started in the SEGA genesis with sonic themes. I'm in love with video game music because of so may reasons, and mostly with OLD generation consoles, which have really catchy melodies and sounds, things that I don't find in new generation games, because with all the electronic advances, music now is more "real". I'm talking about chiptunes mostly. Aside of that, lets get to the point, I hope you all can enlighten me a little bit. I have always had the "dream" of having a band that plays covers of old themes (NES, SNES, SEGAgen, ps1 and earlier), adding my/our own touch to each song to make it unique and more rich just like the remixes on this site. My question is: is it legal? is it right? is it possible to make profit out of that? Not that I mean to rip-off the artist and their music. What I want is to reach out to more people and make them know there's a whole world of video game music, and of course, do it for fun and if possible, get paid/rewarded for the effort put in. I think the songs could always be offered as free in the social media, internet, etc, to avoid copyright infringement, but, is it ok to get paid to perform on stage on events? to "sell" the band? or how does this work for us that love playing game themes? I saw this guy that does covers of game themes in mariachi style in youtube, and he sells the songs on iTunes, is that legal? can anybody do that? I have been trying to find some information about all of this but have not been succesful and don't know where else to look around. Also, it makes me sad that when this happens: Someone -"hey what type of music do you listen/like?" Me -"almost anything, but I'm really into video game music above all others" Someone -"oh yeah like super mario and that righ? (sings theme) turu tu turu tu" *conversation ends or subject changes* That's why I want to make more people to know the vgm world. This post enden being way longer than I expected, I think the reason is that I feel there will be a lot of people here that will understand me so I thought I would just let it all out. Also English is not my first languaje so sorry for any mistakes. And if you took the time to read all of this, thank you for your time.
  21. I had this issue for sometime, but I never really found a full-proof method to do this consistently. Normally I would use FL Studio and export the file as an OGG file while setting the looping mode to wrap remainder. In some cases the loop works fine and other times there would be clicking sound in the very beginning of the track. Does anyone have any idea on how to approach this? Thanks in advance!
  22. Hey all, As I hone my skills and work towards getting arrangements together that will meet the criteria of you fabulous contributors, I'd like to share a very small sampling of some of the work I've done so far, as well as offer my assistance in any collaborative effort you may find yourself needing help with As a disclaimer, I should state now that the following tracks being linked may contain language that is NSFW. Listen at your own discretion. Growing up, I was really into hip hop (I'd rather not talk about the state of the genre today), so I experimented early with sequencing and drum machines. My other passion, naturally, was video games, which you'll see have a strong presence in almost everything I've done thus far. It'll be quite clear to the good people at OC Remix that these works are not fit for submission as unique arrangements - most of the instrumentals featured are meant to have lyrics placed on top and, as such, don't change up terribly often. At any rate, I did want to share them with you all so you can A) get a good idea of what I'm about as a lyricist and see how I've used a video-game-centric childhood to drive my personal flavor of hip hop. Without further Ado: The Empire Strikes Back - A Musical Emergency *LOW QUALITY WARNING* In a very NSFW track, I play Han Solo, frustrated by his love scene being interrupted by C-3P0 Sound Cloud - Buster's Word: https://soundcloud.com/busters-word Tetris - Instrumental Hip Hop beat using Music C from NES Tetris Chrono Trigger - Instrumental, up-beat hip hop instrumental using Gato's Theme from Chrono Trigger Mercury [NSFW] - Full Hip Hop Track (Beat + Lyrics) utilizing a sample from the second Pirates of the Caribbean movie Of the Giants [NSFW] - Full Hip Hop Track (Beat + Lyrics) utilizing a sample from Kingdom Hearts (Destati) (can you point out all of the videogame references??) Ship Hold [NSFW] - Full Hip Hop Track (Beat + Lyrics) utilizing sample from the "Ship Hold" from the DKC2 OST (David Wise is my hero). Let me know what your thoughts are, and if I could be of help on any upcoming projects! And, stay tuned for more OC-Remix-centric work coming in the future. Can't wait to work with some of you! Cheers, -Taylor
  23. Hey everyone! My name is Josh Barron and I am not sure if some of you have heard of me but I used to have Kingdom Hearts piano collection project a few years ago. I have come back into the industry with a labor of love that has been going on for quite some time. I have assembled a group of string musicians to perform arrangements from various game titles. I will be making an album and this album will be called The ETHEReal String Project. Here is the tracklist: 1. Fang’s Theme for String Orchestra (from FINAL FANTASY XIII) Two Nordic Folk Songs for Piano and String Quintet (from ELDER SCROLLS V: SKYRIM) 2. Song I: Secunda 3. Song II: Ancient Stones 4. Trisection for String Orchestra (from FINAL FANTASY TACTICS) 5. Eruyt Village for Piano and String Quintet (from FINAL FANTASY XII) 6. I Was Lost Without You for Piano and String Quintet (from MASS EFFECT 3) 7. And Thus Fate Becomes Cruel for String Orchestra (from HEROES OF MANA) 8. Eternity ~ Memories of Light and Waves for Piano and String Orchestra (from FINAL FANTASY X-2) 9. Honor, Sacrifice, Glory: Variations on Themes from Halo 2 for String Orchestra (from HALO 2) 10. Still Alive for String Orchestra (from MIRROR’S EDGE) 11. Tactical Espionage Suite for String Orchestra (from METAL GEAR SOLID 2: SONS OF LIBERTY) 12. Forest of Awakening (Original Composition) 13. Sulyya Springs for Viola and Piano (FINAL FANTASY XIII) The release date will be July 28th. I am posting this to generate awareness of this project in the hopes that many of you will enjoy this music I have worked so hard to create. Feel free to check out the samples and complete tracks that I have provided on my SoundCloud page which can be found here: https://soundcloud.com/josh-barron/sets/etherealstringproject Enjoy and please offer feedback as I always look to improve . Keep in mind the recordings aren't final versions so the sound may or may not be different in the final release.
  24. Hey OCR! It's Mykah here again! Thought I'd share my drum & bass remix of the galaxy map music from Mass Effect. As Shepherd would say "I'm Commander Shepherd and this is my favourite track in Mass Effect!" https://soundcloud.com/mykah/massively-effective-mass-effect Feedback, thoughts, comments are most welcome! - M
  25. Hey OCR! It's been a while since I last posted here. So thought I'd share one of my VGM remixes and see what everyone thinks: https://soundcloud.com/mykah/its-super-effective-pokemon-red-blue?in=mykah/sets/super-remix-2-turbo-knuckles This is a remix of the trainer battle music from Pokemon Red and Blue that I made using a combination of sampled drums and the excellent Plogue's Chipsounds VST. Feedback is much appreciated! - Mykah
