  1. Hey, guys! Been a while since I posted anything here. Here's my take on a remix of the Lumania track theme from Extreme-G 2. If you haven't played any of those games, they're a lot of fun, if grossly imbalanced. I tried to do a heavier DnB take on the course theme, imagining how it might have been done if the game had come out just this year. Original source track: Lumania My remix: Lumania remix Let me know what you guys think! There's still probably a good 3 minutes I'd like to explore with this track.
  2. Hi, OC ReMix! This year, Lara Croft celebrates her 20th Birthday and, since the franchise only has one remix on OCR (the great 'Adventure Is in the Air' by EmptyMy), I thought it could be nice to offer the lady a second one just for the occasion. I actually started a piano arrangement of Peter Connelly's 'Theme' (from 'Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation') and was wondering if you guys could give me feedbacks so I can try to make it OCR worthy (if it is possible to ^^'). Bare in mind that the song was not humanized yet -- I'd like to have the whole composition right before I eventually start recording a real-life piano play. Original Version: Remix: I wouldn't mind collaborate with any of you if you think this WIP could actually fit another genre better -- like a rock ballad or somehting -- and would like to help with the transposition Thanks in advance and Happy New Year to you all!
  3. Hi, I sampled the first few bars from Final Fantasy X-2 Theme Song Wind Crest The Three Tails (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VQm2dO0qI5g) with FL Studio. Was aiming for a new soul sound with epiano and bass. Near the end of the song it kind of gets away from it because the song transition felt like it need something slightly different so added a some synthesizers. I don't think it sounds too bad but good criticism is welcome. I would like some feed back. Enjoy. Thanks for listening.
  4. Hi, Sampled the score March of the Dreadnoughts https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hV4lbn29T_c from Final Fantasy XIII. Easily the worst Final Fantasy game but has some good music scores. I wasn't really going for anything the music kind of arranged itself. Has a poppy and clubby beat. Doesn't sound too bad but of course feedback and criticism are always welcome. I think I would like to optimize the sound I have so any suggestions will be considered. Enjoy. Thanks for listening.
  5. Still got some work to do on this, but what do ya think of it so far? Mix: https://soundcloud.com/audiocolor/tetris-type-c-wip da.. Sauce:
  6. Amateur hour. I'm really not sure how to approach the mixing of this track. It's an attempt at performing Another Termina as a sort of acoustic ensemble, mainly using guitar, melodica, and penny whistle. There are most certainly more problems than the mixing, but right now that feels like the most frustrating part. To my ear, the melody doesn't seem to fit into the mix and feels "subdued". I've also listened to this too much, so I may just be crazy. In any case, I'm not sure how to handle that; I've tried carving some more space using EQ, but my initial attempts have gotten messy pretty quickly. Does anyone have any guidance on that? I think this track is comprised of the most recorded instruments I've ever tried to work with, and I think that's making it a bit tougher for me since the mix is "crowded". Anyway, any other thoughts, advice, or help is appreciated. I apologize in advance for trying to play the penny whistle! Thanks! https://soundcloud.com/0x000000ff/termina-5a
  7. I tried to expand on the original a little, giving it some energy while playing around with the melody. Not quite sure how well I did with this one, much more used to writing originals. Any feedback would be appreciated
  8. Hi all, I'm new to OCR, decided to join since I've been working on some game remixes on my own time for a few months. I'd like to get some opinions on one of my remixes based on Xenoblade Chronicle's "Xanthe". I'm a big fan of surf rock and so far, every single one of my remixes have been along the vein of heavy surf rock. I'm mainly concerned about production so if anyone has some pointers based on my recording, I'd like to hear them, I want to eventually start submitting stuff to the judges. Thanks! Original
  9. Hi. So this was my contribution the Mega Man 9 Concrete Man Remix Album, which I tried out for OCR. It didn't get accepted unfortunately. Here's the version on the album: Update 2: http://www.box.com/s/b8m6ecan65clrpas36u4 LATEST UPDATE: https://app.box.com/s/uslv4x4h12i0e72hrcozfmaya8y25o6m Read latest post for details. here's the source gosh i want to get rid of these youtube boxes
  10. Hi remixers! I'd like to post my first remix. This is from the Final Fantasy I track called "Scary Dungeon." This is a work-in-progress project. I'm still trying to figure out the ending. Let me know what you think and I hope to improve it over time. Thanks! Original: Remix: http://soundcloud.com/celestialsonata/scary-dungeon-60-222sec
  11. So a skeleton goes driving on a highway and turns on his radio... who is he listening to? I don't suppose it's not too crowded for more Undertale? Because here's an 80s-style remix. Sources: I feel like this might be a bit too close to the source because I think I'm too fond of the main melody to try and mess with the arrangement too much. I mean that game's soundtrack though, right? I also think some parts on the synth are clashing but I'm having difficulty spreading them out without proper headphones(they got ripped ). Anyway, I don't think I'm going to change the arrangement but I'm very open to ideas. What do you guys think? I'd love to hear some feedback. Bonus(bone'us ha!) points for an answer to the skeleton joke.
  12. I'm trying to work on a Trance remix of Metalman's theme from Megaman 2, but this is all I have so far. I'm hoping for some insight on what could possibly be done next or even some critique. https://www.dropbox.com/s/s1at8b1xwjx2z4i/TranceBass1.mp3?dl=0
  13. Hello all! Working on a doom/death metal remix of Golbez's theme and Cry In Sorrow from Final Fantasy IV. Remix: Deepest Night: Golbez: Cry In Sorrow:
  14. Source: Original Remix: Rhythm Of My Soul Updated Mix (as of 1/3/16): https://soundcloud.com/katallen-12/redux-rhythm-of-my-soul It originally started as a bonus track for a MNP compo, but I think I got a little too ambitious and it's gone beyond that now. I knew from the start that I was going to do an orchestral, but it changed directions slightly and went from a brass-heavy booming orchestral to more of a soulful string-filled song. I did aim to keep quite a bit of the "boom" in it, though. I'm particularly proud of the solo sections, something I've always struggled with. Although I'll still be touching it up and adjusting things, I consider the arrangement itself to be finished. As always, comments and critique are helpful(and much appreciated/needed!), and I hope it's an enjoyable piece.
  15. Hey everyone. I'm back with one of my newer mixes. This one is from Hotline Miami (a game I've never played). I heard the soundtrack before I even knew it was a game. I love Electric Dreams, so I figured I'd try to remix it. I've only been working on it for a few hours, so it's still rough, but I'm interested in hearing your thoughts about it. Original song: Thanks!!!!!
  16. Hello OCRemix world. It's been quite some time since my last mix. I found this half-finished Storm Owl remix buried among my other files, so I cleaned it up and figured I'd get some feedback. Really appreciate any thoughts you have! https://www.dropbox.com/s/mjzabxucqi91ppe/mrjoshuamclean_mmx4_stormowl.ogg?dl=0
  17. Hello folks! Been stalking OCR for years now, listening to the glorious tracks that people have made in this community, and it inspired me to get into music years ago. Figured I'd give a remix of something a shot. Granted there's been a million and one remixes of the Corneria theme, but it was one of the few songs I could play well on a piano so I figured I'd give it a shot. Bit of a newbie with FL12, so I know the mixing is godawful as it stands, par for the course with anybody new, but I'm trying my best to learn. Big thing I was going for with the mix was the sense of adrenaline you'd get when playing any high-speed/intensity games and get that perfect streak. Going for a heavy-hitting, glitchy drum mix with strong basslines and orchestral elements. I know the piano could use some work but I'm not sure how to best go about this. Big questions I'm asking are the best things to do to balance out the mix, as well as bring out the original themes elements more strongly without taking away from the aggressive nature of the mix. Have been trying to record guitar Sixto style for the track, but haven't been able to get it to sound right in the mix. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Download link on soundcloud is lossless .wav. 60 megs. https://soundcloud.com/isaac-doud/iked-bandits-inbound-sfcorneria-remix-wip Many thanks in advance!
  18. https://soundcloud.com/ninelines/hmrmxpmastepostr/s-1dKkB Been working on this for quite some time now. Using all stock effects and a saturation unit that I purchased. Any feedback on sound quality or production/mixing/mastering would be appreciated. I'll make sure I check out everyone else's music, too. Thanks in advance!
  19. This started as a MNP entry, but changed the mood quite a bit more than I'd originally intended. I'm throwing it here in hopes of getting some feedback on what could be improved and where I could take the track from here. https://soundcloud.com/katallen-12/f-zero-sapphire-smash
  20. I'm making a remix of Castlevania's "Poison Mind" the boss theme, heard here: I'm trying to make it as creepy as I can, and give it sort of a "I'm in Dracula's pitch-dark basement and something is down here with me. It's not human..." feeling. Here ya go: https://app.box.com/s/z7lf3myxln6trhblnotahta7cvopcc3z That "arp" is actually a piano with heavy processing To achieve the "creepiness" I used heavy effects and played with the tempo as well. Not finished yet though. I may do another keychange drop with an even slower tempo, recalling what Dragon Warrior 1 did with its dungeons. may add a subtle wind effect too. Update: Updated, I still want to add some stuff, but this is the basic mix. Update 2: Slightly updated, changed the piano for some distorted pizz. later then it goes back to the piano Update 3: Replaced the synth bell with a real bell, and added a cymbal swell, as well as other level adjustments. no idea how I'm gonna make the organ I want sound like a real organ, but I'm going to work on doing that. Update 4: My last update was 10/30/11, so the FLP file did suffer some synthrot, as in what the FLP expected was in the wrong places, and I had to find replacements for some elements, but I'm working on this again. New stuff: New choir, new organ from the Fluid soundfont but I made it sound as powerful as I could. new string patch. I need to find my cymbal swell I used. need to add a melody to the second and third parts so it's not too repetative. Update 4.1: Just found a new patch for the organ! Sounds even more like it could be located in an eerie castle now.
  21. Hi all, My first remix has recently been rejected by the judges panel, but luckily it maybe has a chance of passing if I resubmit after making changes. So, the tips they gave were mostly on MIDI-massaging and using different samples. In the time between submitting the original and receiving the feedback (a year) I have learned some new tricks and have bought a few new samples so I spent a few hours replacing instruments and also re-arranging stuff. I'd like to know how many fake-ness is still distracting in this updated version, and of course other tips are welcome as well =) . Cheers! Edit: working link =P : https://soundcloud.com/timdeman/an-oath-fulfilled
  22. Hi OCR ppl! I'd like some pointers on my newest WIP and, I give you a choice in which way to go on this. I'm in the process of remixing FF7's Anxious Hearts, but I can't really make a choice between two versions, so I thought I'd let you guys decide! Please let me know which version has the best approach. or It's still in it's early stages, so I can change mostly everything. Thanks in advance. NeoS
  23. Ganymede Cactus This is my entry for the WCRG 2013 Round 3, arranging the following sources: Duck Tales [The Moon] Any and all feedback is appreciated ._.
  24. Hey guys, here is a remix that I arranged for the SFRG Competition. It is pretty much finished, just want to get some feedback before I submit to ocremix.
