  1. Hello everyone. Long time OC remix appreciator, occasional poster, and overall easy going guy Today I'd like to share with all you lovely people at OC remix something of my own idea.... even though the concept may already be similar to what some other youtubers have done, however with my own unique flare on things! So the purpose of this thread, is obviously to get some constructive feedback, on ways I can improve it, or thoughts, if you love the series, well that's awesome, I'm doing something right aren't I? Essentially I play a game picked at random by a spinner designed by my wife, graphics work done by me, and then I play that game for approximately 10 mins, using Shotcut as my video editor and Audacity as my audio recording software, edit the video, then add my commentary in after doing the edits. However I try and leave in as many stuff ups, screwups and deaths as possible to make the game more real, I tend to just remove loading screens, dialog, or anything that takes away from the actual gameplay itself. The reason I do that? Well I believe it creates a more realistic feel to the video that way. Initially I thought of an idea, and was going to call it throwback thursdays... then was told that this idea was tried TOO often, or too mainstream / wouldn't work, I have a small following on twitter, so I put out a vote on a new series name, and the name Casual couch gaming won. So here ladies and gentlemen, is a link to my Youtube series of Casual Couch gaming, which I update weekly with new videos. Now this isn't just a shameless self promotion, I also wanted to talk about the concept of a spinner, no I'm not talking about fidget spinners.... get out of here with that nonsense... I already have the spinner designed and have used it as seen in the series, I've since done a visual overhaul to the spinner slices, and had my wife whom is a coding goddess make some major changes to it visually. Do you think an informational video showing the first version, and now the polished final product would be interesting or nah? I really want to share my story, or at least be proud of my work, like yes my wife did the coding, but I had to do the leg work of sourcing the images, and logos, using GIMP photo editor to create each slice individually, was an arduous task, and I rushed it initially... but I wasn't happy with it, so I redid the pieces all over again, with better quality and more patience than the original spinner. Anyway I don't want to make this post TLDR. Would love to hear your thoughts and opinions! From your casual gamer Magnus_Tsunami
  2. Figured I ought to share my stuff here. Lots of different things, mostly stuff made from my eclectic collection of virtual instruments (Kontakt etc.), weird old analog synths and the like. I prefer to go for mood/storytelling than whether or not you can dance to it. Lots of horror/ambience in here. playlists: https://soundcloud.com/tymime/sets
  3. Going back to my original roots and trying my hand at house music again. This time i thought should give some love to one of the must overlooked Sonic games of all time, Sonic CD! So who is the real hedgehog here?
  4. Hi everyone! Here my remix of Rutela's Theme. I use retro electronic sounds and vintage beatbox. Enjoy! Original :

  6. Hey guys, I recently finished up this new little tune in the style of a retro video game. I'd love to hear any thoughts on it.
  7. For those moments in life when you need that last little drive to win, recover from a lose, or conquer your rival. Now get stacking you lazy sack of bolts.

      Hey there!

If you want, you could post your first submission on the WIP boards on here - that way you'll have some idea of how it'll fare on the panel without waiting the rather lengthy period of time it takes for us to respond.

Just throwing that out there as a suggestion. Also, a hearty welcome to OCR to you! ;)

Hey I wouldn't mind trying that :) I already submitted it, should I still post on the WIP boards?

Thanks for the welcome :D I have been following OCR for a few years now.. just had to finally join

Sure - post it on the WIP boards and you'll have some idea as to how the panel will receive it. It's hard to tell how long it'll take to get from the submission inbox to the panel (according to the 'Currently in the Judging Process' thread, it looks like it's about in the 'August' area, so it's  a few months behind!), so it's better for you to get some idea prior to that. It's no fun to wait 6 months, then receive a letter with information... that would've been helpful for you 6 months ago.

I mean, we're working on catching the panel up to the inbox, but it's all volunteer work, and it's done by hand. You could understand why there's often some backlogging in the process.

  9. I am not sure what genre this would be to be completely honest but screw it. One of my least favorite Sonic levels of all time...Carnival *******Night Zone. The music is cool but that STUPID BARREL I SWEAR TO GOD..... sorry. Just remember ...UP and DOWN....UP and Down.

  12. I don't write much 8 bit type music, so this is actually a little out of my comfort zone. Anyway, I spent between 1 and 2 hours on this, so please, bear that in mind when giving feedback
  13. Hi,here's the track : https://soundcloud.com/xouman/snare-and-groove What do you think?
  14. Hello, first time posting something original here but I'm quite happy with this one, though the military drums at the beginning still sound kinda shit. It's an 80s new retro wave inspired generally upbeat track with voice samples from Harry S Truman, George Bush, Lawrence Krauss, Jeanine Pirro and of course Donald Trump, to bring in a very happy new year to civilization. https://soundcloud.com/fraser-jennison/ad2016
  15. Hi everyone, my name's Jack, I'm new to OC Remix so I thought I'd introduce myself by showing off my latest album, the soundtrack to PONCHO, a platformer a friend and I have been working on for the past few years. http://soundcloud.com/saltyjack/sets/poncho-original-soundtrack It'd be awesome to hear what you guys think. Cheers.
  16. So, if you watched the November 12th, 2015 Nintendo Direct, they dropped some serious bombs for 2016. Stuff like Cloud from FF7 in Smash Bros, and, oh, something about MOTHERFUCKING POKEMON RED AND BLUE AND YELLOW ON 3DS!! Not remakes, but the actual old Game Boy games, on the Virtual Console. It will be out world-wide for February 27, 2016, which is the 20th anniversary of the release date for the firs Pokémon game back in 1996! The VC versions will keep the game identical to the originals, but will use the 3DS wireless system to allow for battling and trading. That means you should still be able to get 99 Rare Candies and then go catch Missingno.
  17. Hey, so I kinda don't post here very often, and I'm a total dweeb lurker usually! Way back last year I started working on an album of like 90s RPG-type music or whatnot, first real big personal project, and I released the whole thing this past June. I'd really love to get some feedback on it - I'd been working on it so long that it's painful trying to go back and re-appraise it. ^-^; I originally wrote a lot of the music using samples from authentic SNES games, but chickened out and recorded/bitcrushed my own instead, so I'm totally worried that I did badly trying to rework them to use the newer samples. Also really -really- bothered by the post-production and mixing, but again - I'd been working on it for a year straight, and I'm kinda tunnel-visioned by it still, so I'm not sure if it's just me after working on it for so long. Everyone I know kinda just goes "Woah, sounds rad" or whatever, so it wasn't very helpful in the weeks right before release, haha... ;>-> Sorry if I'm coming off a bit candid - I'm kinda always like this. I just don't feel comfortable just showing off my stuff while keeping my own thoughts to myself, is all. <-<; Long story short: I made a thing over the course of year, I'm not sure if it's any good (or ever was...), and some input or critique would be great. https://mairujyat.bandcamp.com/album/shadow-of-the-lich Thanks in advance, hope you all enjoy it! And if you don't: be honest and let me know what I should work on next time, alright? ^-^
  18. Well, my friends and I are huge fans of the original XCOM (as well as the new one) so I decided to do a cover of the main theme! https://soundcloud.com/matthew-matriciano/xcom-ufo-defense-theme-metal-remix don't be afraid for critique, this is my first official cover and feed back would be appreciated! Matt
  19. Greetings all, So I had recently released an EP, and I totally forgot that I can share my original work here with you guys...which is awesome because this site and the community are awesome.
