I am confused how people can complain about the FF6 project being elitist or snubbing them without actually knowing anything about the project other than the fact it exists.

With some OCR projects there's sort of a common theme for the sake of cohesiveness, rather than it being a bunch of different songs in outrageously different styles, because if it were, what was the point of making it into an *album*? For all one knows there could be a common theme in the FF6 project. Maybe it leans more towards melodic orchestra rather than death metal and screaming. In which case the latter would be inappropriate. In projects it's not always a matter of what's good vs. what's bad. It's just a matter of what fits.

Yes, but this line of thinking would involve not jumping to insane conclusions in bad faith, and we can't have that.

you can't typecast me foo!

Wasn't intending to typecast, just using it as an example. As a reverse techno or orchestra would possibly be out of place in a metal album project, depending on the direction the director is taking. It wouldn't be elitism there, it'd just be about using what fits.

Ever heard of Symphonic Death Metal ?

I think you're missing the point.

We know there's a FF6 project. We don't know anything beyond it - the whos and whys and the direction of the project. Could be Mongolian Throat Singing or opera for all we know. Point being it's silly to label it elitist without knowing *anything* about it.

@Bahamut: Ah, I was considering accepting WIPs privately...but I was under the impression it's best to link them on the thread so that they can be publicly evaluated?

Nah, don't do that - get some private forums and have mixers post the WIPs there or something. Don't post them publicly though, they spoil the songs and the mixers probably rather have finished products public not WIPs.
