Please recommend an MP3 player

I was thinking about how I was going to find a cheap player that could hold my library of 20 gigs and I came up with the idea of buying a very cheap player and storing all my audio on a micro SD card.  So I bought a Kubik Evo.  But when I got it, the player can only search the content on the SD card by file name.  Not by title, artist, or album.  If I put it on random, it will only play 3 songs before turning off.  If I skip down partway through the list, it will start at the beginning after a couple songs.  It can only recognize 2024 songs despite there being more on it.

 

I am looking for a cheap player that has the capabilities of compiling the audio on the external SD card like it would on the regular internal drive.  Does anyone have a recommendation?

My dad used to buy a certain model of Sansa mp3 players which are basically the greatest MP3 player ever created. The sad thing is that now, that particular model is rare and so valuable that you might get stuck paying a lot for one. They have newer models, like on Amazon, and some of them aren't TOO pricy. I don't know if they take Micro SD though. Only thing I know that takes micro SD and plays mp3 is smartphone.

Brandon's right. An Android smartphone with the n7player app is the best combination. But you may want to talk with your provider about portable smart card options.

Yeah, I actually have a Sansa Sandisk, and although I broke it somehow, I heard it can hold a 32 GB micro SD card.

It is able to do this on the external drive like it does for the internal HD?  And yes, I am using a 32gig micro SD.

 

 

I am kind of against using my phone as an mp3 player because I will use my music for when I workout and I would hate for it to get damaged.  Also, I want to preserve the battery integrity for as long as I can on this phone and I'm afraid that if I use it all the time for music, it will only be able to hold a charge for 12 hrs at a time after a little while.

Well, it has a USB port so you can plug it into your computer and drag music into it like a regular folder, and the 32 is in addition to the harddrive space it comes with. It charges via USB. You can't play music while it's plugged in, though I don't think that's a big deal.

 

I have a slightly older model (circular buttons, otherwise the same), but mine is about 1.25" x 2" x 0.25", more or less. I'm also kind of LOLing at the claimed dimensions; 5" x 5" rectangle? Wha-? xD
