This was my first round mix for the Final Fantasy Crystal Clash and I finally decided to submit it because I doubt myself when I first release stuff and then people tell me it's cool and I start to believe them and then I sub it and subsequently write horrible run on sentences. Regardless, I got pretty crazy with my Neapolitan 6ths in the Orchestral sections. :P

This was a lot of fun to make, and I want to really thank Brandon Strader for holding the compo. It was a lot of fun, and I hear the guy who took first place is a real babe. <3

Interesting concept, I like the chippy bits added in the first orchestral section.  Nice pizzicato.  Writing (leads and backing) is a little all-over-the-place.  The guitar lead sounds very good when it enters at 1:21.  I'm hearing quite a few dissonant notes, for example at 1:36.

At 1:47, what happened with the drumming, it sounds like the drummer is drumming to another song.  The backing guitar at this section seems quite random in writing.  The orchestral portions of the track are quite nice although the strings sound stiff.  At 2:38 again the drummer seems to be drumming independently of this track.  I hear that same dissonant note at several parts in this track.

Hhhhm.  This is a nice track, good concept, good mixing of sources.  I like the lead guitar performances the best.  Most of the mixing issues aren't a huge problem, but I think that drumming needs to be corrected, at a minimum.  I'm not really sure what to say about the randomness of the overall writing, it's a bit messy.

I thought the pizz strings were too stiff and exposed the sample, even though they were serviceable. But the real WTF was...

Hahaha, yeah, both the tone and timing of the drums there don't fit at all. Unfuck 1:47-2:12 & 2:36-3:28 and you have a winner.
