Searching for some not-so-realistic sounds

Hi everyone.

I'm working on a song for a rpg game with pixel art style.

I'm almost done with the song but I'm afraid it might not fit the game as well as I wanted because I'm using libraries of actual recordings of real instruments (you know, those ultra realistic Orchestra libraries..).

Basically I wanted to know if there's anything out there that I can use for this type of music that's not so realistic, kinda like the zelda franchise OSTs.

Any recommendations?

One thing you might want to try is to compose everything just as you always have then pick up something like the Korg legacy collection and use an M-1 or Wavestation in place of your other samples. A lot of PC games that came out in the 90's used retro synths such as that to emulate the playing of real strings.  It's mildly ironic now that we have samples at our finger tips and yet people still want that 90's fake orchestral sound.

I happen to love the solo string patches used in Myst.  For some reason. :P
