MnP ARCHIVE  - made by Trism ;)

Submit your remix Here when completed.
**If you have technical difficulty with account activation at ThaSauce, please contact me via PM and I will submit your track and will also tally your vote**

MISSION STATEMENT
The goal of Compo:MnP is to promote that "meat and potatoes" conservative approach to remixing: this includes the mood and composition of source tunes. It is up to the remixer to create their own personalization, or to simply give it a sound upgrade. Moreover, the compo is a great opportunity to hone your remixing skills and give video game music the respect that is due. SOME reinterpretation is recommended, but not required.

MnP Instructions/Guidelines
1. Covers and Sound Upgrades are permitted.
2. Most or all of the source notes must be present (but not necessarily in the exact same order), secondly the mood (energy, pacing, feelings being conveyed etc) should also be retained. For example, a source tune that is fast-paced and energetic that's remixed into a mellow/chill-out theme would be a hard sell.
3. If you decide to do a genre swap (i.e. symphonic to techno), make sure that the conditions of #2 are met.
4. Submissions must be at a maximum of 20mb (keeping in step with ThaSauce's file size max).
5. Only 1 entry per participant. Previous winner cannot participate but can submit a BONUS entry.
6. All competitors and voters must adhere to the rules stated within: Competition Code and Conduct

MISC/TIPS
- When picking a source tune, make sure it has a MIDI to make ppl's lives easier.
- In-game sound FX are permitted, so long as they don't comprise the whole track (i.e. replacing entire MIDI tracks with just sfx)

Man, I haven't played Bomberman in years. I fondly remember playing multiplayer mode at a friend's house during sleepovers. I also remember trying to figure out all the different moves you could do with the bombs, kicking and growing them, it was a lot of fun.

Got lots of good memories of bomberman 64 too :D - had a wicked single player mode too, surprisingly.

Hmm, maybe I should try it out sometime. As I was telling you a couple of weeks ago, I grew up with an Amiga and a PC and only played video games at my friends' houses, until I bought a Wii when I was 16. It was actually at that point that my interest in music really spiked. Video game music, as well as film score, has been an incredible inspiration to me. Now to bring this back on track, this track is a great example of that inspiration. I can form a picture in my head of what the music is representing, and that's something I've really liked doing.

In addition, the track sounded very familiar to me, and I know it couldn't have been from Bomberman because I never played the single player mode. However, while I was listening to it on YouTube, I was scrolling through the comments, and lo and behold, a few users mentioned it being used in the great mod Super Mario Star Road, and this is where I heard it from. :-D

I'm experimenting with the MIDI file right now, and there are two paths that I think I could take on it. I was initially going to do an orchestral cover, but I like the idea of a more jazzy arrangement. But that could be because I had that urge from the last round. :-P

Quite an interesting tale and yes I do recall that conversation - keep that inspirational fire going, dood.  Looking forward to seeing your entry :P

Oh wow, time has flown. I have something, but it's still a bit unpolished. I didn't realize the deadline was coming so soon. >_>

I hope you're able to get it uploaded in time. I submitted mine a moment ago, and I can't wait to hear your take on it. Did you play the game at all?

I'm about to submit mine. Going to be more unpolished than I'd like it to be, but it's not terrible or anything. Pretty straightforward upgrade in instrumentation.

EDIT: Song is up now.

Ack, this ended on Nov. 30th, not Dec. 2nd. Wanted to do something with it - the Super Bomber Man theme that plays throughout the baseline was something I wanted to play around with.

I mean, technically I still CAN, but I'm lazy and don't have a drive without a compo to play too.

Ah well, I can still vote. :P

Don't feel too bad, I BARELY made the deadline. Some reason I thought it was the 2nd as well. Frantically put mine together at the last minute. Lol

Not a huge round, but certainly not a bad one.  Man this compo has gone quite long now :nicework:

Good job Zorakh!

Did you mean for me to pick the topic? I thought the winner gets to pick?

You, too, Starphoenix! I really like your sound choices. What did you use for the lead at 1:00?

Also: who's picking the source track? :-P

I fucked up - shoulda waited later to do the tally, cuz I had just got back from work and was (still am) dead tired.  I mixed up the names and placements.  Sorry guys!  So yeah, Starpohenix, you're the winner >.<
