Hey Hoboka ! I'm happy the topic about the eval process brought in some interesting discussion and you didn't get hammered as expected :). Hope you feel better.  On the topic of MnP, here's the source I choose, it has no remix on OCR but it's a great track, even though it's a bit short and loops quite fast, i think we could be creative and try to add sequences to it. Anyway here we go...

-Shid0

Deadline: November 21 Tues @ 1PM

Vote Ends: November 23 Thurs @ 11PM

Submit your remix Here when completed.

MnP ARCHIVE  made by Trism ;)

MISSION STATEMENT
The goal of Compo:MnP is to promote that "meat and potatoes" conservative approach to remixing: this includes the mood and composition of source tunes. It is up to the remixer to create their own personalization, or to simply give it a sound upgrade. Moreover, the compo is a great opportunity to hone your remixing skills and give video game music the respect that is due. SOME reinterpretation is recommended, but not required.

MnP Instructions/Guidelines

  1. Covers and Sound Upgrades are permitted.
  2. Most or all of the source notes must be present (but not necessarily in the exact same order), secondly the mood (energy, pacing, feelings being conveyed etc) should also be retained. For example, a source tune that is fast-paced and energetic that's remixed into a mellow/chill-out theme would be a hard sell.
  3. If you decide to do a genre swap (i.e. symphonic to techno), make sure that the conditions of #2 are met.
  4. Submissions must be at a maximum of 20mb (keeping in step with ThaSauce's file size max).
  5. Only 1 entry per participant. Previous winner cannot participate but can submit a BONUS entry.
  6. Please don't make any comments about people's entries - including your own - until the Voting process is concluded.  BONUS entries are exempt of this rule.
  7. All competitors and voters must adhere to the rules stated within: Competition Code and Conduct

MISC/TIPS
- When picking a source tune, make sure it has a MIDI to make ppl's lives easier.
- In-game sound FX are permitted, so long as they don't comprise the whole track (i.e. replacing entire MIDI tracks with just sfx)

Oh crap didn't see it was covered already, sorry about this

Edit: I got something planned for this one at least even if it's just a bonus mix :) (will try to participate both MnP and PRC this week anyway since i've got time)

Come to think of it, the source tune is mildly spooky too.  More funky though lmao.  Funk-spook?

Updated?

I've used versions 5, 9 and 11. I guess this song was done in 11 but I'm not sure. Since I don't have much time I don't do much with it, just using the standard tools. This year I only did one song. If time let's me I'll do more but that's often a problem.

i actually killed my macbook that way. spilled a tiny amount of water in my bag and  SIX MONTHS later it died and voided the warranty.

how does tiny water damage kill a Macbook?  Maybe it's just built-in obsolescence?  Mac has gotten worse for that, with firmware updates up your chimney hole and just yuck business sense that rivals *edit* Sony, yeah...feelin more like Sony is the bad boy comparison for my stupid blanket statement of DoooOooOoom ...and DINNER :D

Okay, I'm done waxing my insecurities and bitter memories.  Time to focus on the one thing at OCR that I am proud of.  I also especially thank all of you who continually participate and put up with my preambles, rants and meandering thoughts :D

yea, i mean everyone screws their customers these days. i think the water just got under the keys and corroded the board. the price for smaller and more complex chips is that theyre more fragile i guess.

If the midi file had multiple tracks, I would do an entry.

Found the best one possible at VGmusic. Sorry about overlooking that hiccup.  This one has multiple tracks.  Also put proper MIDI link on the OP.
