Hey Pretzel, I'm back with something new! I made my new track in about 18

hours after I submitted my last mix, and it turned out a lot better than

might be expected.

Track: Another Winter

Game: Seiken Densetsu 3

Remix name: Another Eternal Winter

Track location:

Style: Orcestral Mix

I took the time to get an MP3.com account for more reliable uploads. Damn

Geoshitties and their awful bandwidth rules >_> If my last track didn't

download right, it's uploaded at the site as well.

While we're talking about Seiken Densetsu games, there's fault in a couple

of submissions.

Seiken_Densetsu_3_Electric_Fields_OC_ReMix = Not from Seiken Densetsu 3.

This is most definitely from Seiken Densetsu 2/Secret of Mana instead...

Forest track... and Elinee the witch's track in one...

Secret_of_Mana_FearOfTheHeavensFlow_OC_ReMix = Original song with simple

percussion on top. To quote the submission guide - (under "3. What are the

general guidelines for what / how to ReMix??")

"In other words, don't just take the original and drop a few drum loops on

top."

Eh, I'm not trying to be nitpicky, it just pisses me off to see people who

try to get away with such things. The first track is just misplaced, so it

simply needs to be moved. Now, to find a spark of inspiration for my next

track... hrrrmm...

Mmm, this gets me in the spirit of Christmas for some reason. Sure, it's not Christmasy, but it's Wintery ^^ The problem I have is the lack off fall-off (I always forget the technical term for this) on that main instrumenty thingy. Listen at 1:57 and 2:09. :) Not very pleasing to me. That happens at several other places, too. Some vibrato or something spicy like that would be nice. It sounds like to me that this mix pretty much repeats itself over a time. It gets repetitive to me, and the over-reverbed conditions of this mix with the annoying lack of fall-off on that instrument just kills me. Listen to the original. This version hardly adds anything to it besides reverb and some semi-fancy samples.

BTW,

Those submission guidelines were implemented at a much later time then when this mix was posted. To blame this mix that it didn't meet the guidelines, that'd be totally uncostitutional (think ex post facto) for it did indeed meet the guidelines at the time it was submitted.

ah, Exactly! Its what Im pushin to stop around here. Unfortunately no one really seems to have any interest in rejecting those 10 minute midi/drumloop rips as long as they 'sound nice' so whatever.

ANYWAY,

downloadign at 1kbps.....

too slow, gonna finish and review later

back,

Pro:

Love the lead flutes!

Great feel.

Love that background ... uh... harp? whatever it is.

Cons:

That low chanting doesnt ever stop.

Im jewish. er, j/k

It repeats, not much happens.

weak ending.

I am sorry to fail this song, but it just repeats. It really should try to expand and do something interesting.

btw, please dont leave http://www.mp3.com/ in the tag. If its possible, change it to http://remix.overclocked.com/

Sounding pretty nifty so far, no real problems with it. Okay, so uh.. it should start doing some new stuff soon right? Hmm. Okay, so it doesn't really go anywhere, and I don't believe it expands on the original much (I'm relying on memory here, so I could be wrong). It does sound really good, and I like it, in fact, I think I'll keep it. But.. my personal likings shall not hold sway upon my judgement. Sorry, just not OC quality.

Vote: No

I thought we've gone through this before... but at any rate, that's beside the point here because it's not a current remix. Back in the early days of OCR, such remixes were acceptable.

Anyway... sounds like the original with samples changed around. Maybe not exactly, but pretty close.

Maybe if it did something beyond what the original did.....

Edit: oops, forgot to vote.... NO
