  1. A long song, but it keeps me smiling the whole way through. I don't have much to say here, since I don't think I've ever sat down and beliberately listened to lounge music before. Shades of SimCity and the Sims jumped out at me at first, but that passed pretty quickly. It's something different, that's for certain. 8 out of 10 for being original and keeping it interesting.
  2. Heh. Listening to this the first time brought to mind a weird combination of Myst and Deus Ex... JC shooting up Atrus's library, anyone? That said, I rather like this one. Lots of rich patterns here, hard to predict where it's heading next, in a good way. The voice sample works, sorta. It's too loud, I'd rather listen to the piano. It really jumps out at you. But it doesn't take too much away from the rest of the mix, which is above average and definately worth a listen. I'd give it, oh... 6.5, bordering towards 7, out of 10.
  3. Can't say I like this one. I do like the uncertain drums and the bells, but the main melody just irks me, both in terms of sounds chosen and composure. Icky. Furthermore, this just doesn't feel spacey to me... It feels wet or misty or airy or some other terrestrial based phenomenon. I don't have the terminology or the teaching to fully describe how this mix seems to me, so I'll just let a 4 out of 10 score stand it its stead. I like most've GrayLightning's other stuff though. This one just didn't appeal to me.
  4. 6.5 / 10 Dark, moody and quiet, this song was made for people (Like me! ) who try to invent stories to go along with the song. If you just want something to listen to, I'd say pass, but if you're willing to give this song a couple chances to spark your imagination, go for it.
  5. 7 / 10 Nice, quite nice. The instruments are very reminiscent of the actual game. The jittery bits sound great in headphones, also. This remix grinds along, but it doesn't feel like it's going anywhere, to be frank. It's missing a high point, or a climax, so when the song finishes I feel a little unfulfilled, but I think it's still a keeper.
  6. 8.5 / 10 What a... soothing song! I really like most of this. It makes me think of looking out over the ocean on a clear, moonless night, watching the stars and the water. When the song opens-up, to borrow someone else's phrase, to become vast, it makes you feel so...alone. I really like it, but the downside is that the bits between the parts where it "expands" are mediocre. Not bad, but overshadowed by the rest of the song. But I suppose that in order to have mountains, you have to have valleys. Very good.
  7. 8 / 10 The first time I listened to this remix, it actually made my eyes water. The overlapping melodies made me think of a collage of the adventures of all the Links, rolled up into one song, and when it simplifies a bit, I can see Link standing at the edge of a river, on an overcast night, Epona a little distance away, and playing his Ocarina in the rain, thinking of Zelda. Sadly, since I've listened to it a few times, that first rush of feeling has faded and it now has more of a lullaby tang. Still, quite good, and worth the download.
  8. 10 / 10 I'm with all the other posters on this one - does it get any better than this? As befitting a Megaman remix, this feels like it has a very robotic vibe. Not like a robot, I mean, but more like a conveyor belt or a factory or something. The quick blips of static that set the beat (or are those the timpanis a few others have complained about?) make me feel all tingly inside. This has great ambience and feel, even if I can't exactly tell you what part of it makes it great. Highly recommended.
  9. 7 / 10 (With an exception.) On the whole, this is just an above average remix to me, but one part of this song just... well, there's no other word for it, I suppose. It rocks. From 1:58 to 2:43, this thing gets a ten out of ten. I've heard this particular melody (path to Kraid's hangout, as another poster mentioned) remixed in at least five other places, and this little section of an otherwise fair 'mix blows them all away.
