Chrono Trigger 'Green Amnesia'
I appear to be the only review mod up so I'll just cover this one quickly and say a few words 'bout it. I'm really not sure what came over me with this one. I may have been sick or something. In fact, I don't really remember writing this...
OH THAT WAS A CLEVER PLAY ON THE TITLE! HAR HAR HAR!
Ok, but um... yeah, for those of you that have heard "Downtime," this isn't all THAT new, but with a Chrono Trigger flavor to it. And um... yeah. Well I'll let other people say stuff. I feel kind of dirty talking about my own stuff like this.

This is by far my new favorite CT remix! It's so beautiful! It's new and yet somehow retains that Chrono feel to it... I dunno how to explain it. Download this one as soon as possible!

Pretty good mix, dan, but I'd have preferred accoustic drums over the "new-age R&B" set you're using or something.
The ones after the wind "break" are better, but still, some kind of accoustic jazz set would be much better - they actually might be the same... I can't really tell.
Love the double-time at 4'32. ;) The drums work here.
Ew. Not a fan of the ending.
Besides some drum sample gripes (which are just personal preference - the sequencing was actually done very well) this song is definitely awesome. :)

Hmm, much of like any of Mazedude's remixes, I've always appreciated pieces that fly in the face of convention in some way. I happen to like the "new age r&b" flavor it gives the remix. When I first downloaded it, I thought "geez, 6 and half minutes?" as some remixes of that length to get a little self indulgent and repetitive, but this one is very well paced and styled. I really like this a lot...in case you couldn't tell already. :) Dan, excellent job in creating a standout remix for a game saturated with remixes.

Now see? This is exactly why those "Not another chrono trigger remix~!"
posts are not always grounded. Yeah, we've heard this theme a million
times over, but this is just a damn good arrangement. It's a wonderful little
theme, and this just exploits the melody wonderfully. I really enjoyed this
one Dan. It's nice to see someone bring a fresh look to a tired and
overworked theme.
Also, I thought the ending had a nice finality to it. Cool stuffs.

I really like this one. Especially the way its arranged to be smooth and relaxing for this popular tune. I love the synths used, as usual from Disco. Its got some very good ear candy.
on a side note, i always think im gunna download a disco-ish remix when i see it done by Disco Dan. :)- Great job Disco!

I have probably never been this drawn into a remix before. This is the first song I have ever heard that I have ever heard that makes me feel the way it does.
It's perfect, in my book. It's one of the few professionally sounding remixes. This one is staying in my play list for a very, very long time.
Good job! :P

This remix gave me the shivers. An improvement to an already great song. This is definately going in my "Favorites" folder.
The high piano notes and the lovely flute at 4 '34 were icing on the cake.
Excellent work.

Dan does it again! This remix is nice. Definitely staying in my playlist for a while. This remix is so good my mom even commented on it (she overheard it playing).

Btw Dan, Mel was kinda pissed that she didn't get mentioned in DJP's little review ;).. Accordin to her you were supposed to tell DJP to say that it was dedicated to her :P

This is a MUST HAVE for any fan of Chrono Trigger music. I thought this would be an upbeat romp but the spacious feel worked just as well, or if not better than what I was expecting. Love the piano melody and everything just seems to flow. Kudos, great work.

oh man
this is great. damnit. it's about time man.
downtime was an awesome song, and you took that greatness and applied it to chrono trigger.
I LOVE YOU MAN!
there is nothing to complain about in this mix. it is damn near audio perfection. i don't see how anything could have been done differently.
no missed notes. no clipping. nothing. volumes are just right. exact amounts of reverb...
dan surely knows what he is doing.

Disco Dan once again justifies my blind adoration of his work. :)
I'd have to say this is one of the best thought out and executed remixes I've heard in a long time.
As others have said, it remains true to the original theme and expands upon it in ways previously unimagined. Everything is placed and timed just so. The whole work flows effortlessly. Dan, if you don't have a music production job, GET ONE.
I thought the ending was very appropriate. I think some found it objectionable because the piece seemed like it could have gone on forever (it's a good thing :D ). It reminded me a bit of the closing strains of "Neptune, the Mystic" from Holst's "The Planets". Or possibly the closing theme from "Contact".
I am eagerly awiting further musical exploration by Disco Dan ~ :)
Hmmm. I like. All the samples are nice n smooth. The wind sounds work well, and I like the drums that come in right after. The ending is great; it makes it sound epic and leaves a great impression. Only thing I don't like is the muted trumpet. Super good job!

If Webster were to make a new, updated dictionary, he'd definetly put the title of this mix under the word "awesome". That's just the only way to describe it. If it's possible for a man to fall in love with a song, I've done it. The transitions are smooth and great, and the music is just...wow. Not too sure about the ending, but it does the job. I mean, if I had a choice of getting a billion dollars, winning the Super Bowl, and having Britney Spears as my personal b!t(h slave, or listening to this song, I think I'd choose listening to this song. It's that good.

An absolutely gorgeous remix. It draws you in completely, layers you in soft harmonics, and then steps up the tempo in a series of brilliant transitions, and truly takes you for a long, melodic ride.
I personally recommend to turn the volume way up at the beginning of this song and let that low, smooth bass that comes in at 1:15 just run through you. *shivers*
Beautiful.

Stunning.... I love this song. It's such a beautiful melody.
Two tiny things I don't like with this remix...
The trumpet thing in the intro. Great idea, but... it sounds fake.
And sometimes, I think the piano has slightly too much delay. You know... I would have liked the melody to be even more distinct.
But that's just my opinions... I still adore this piece of music.

A wonderful Christmas Present from Disco Dan. And of course, the best part is it's orignal and unexpected. It's quite a shift from all the fast paced Mega Man Remixes he does.
Very very beautiful. I love the pads and the minimul break in the 3-4 minute section. The piano melody sounds very nice, a favorite instrument of mine.
Keep up the good work, Dan the Man, Merry Christmas, Happy Hunaka, and yeah!
Shutting up now.

Smooth, relaxing, and nostalgic.
The beginning is great -- slow and teasing. You don't know what you're gonna get. :) The rest of the song is just amazing -- I don't want to spoil it for those who haven't heard it yet but the piano is fantastic!
A must have to any fan of Chrono Trigger or music in general...

Wow. This is some great stuff. It's so good, it could be in the next Chrono game. It completely has the same emotion that's displayed in the game, but with a different style. . . I really don't know how to explain this mix. If you already havn't, you'll just have to hear it for yourself. . . well, what are you waiting for!?

One among a short list of remixes that successfully, rather than take the song in a new direction, recreates it in a way that it sounds like it SHOULD have been the one on the game cartridge :) Beautiful, mellow, and very likeable, I doubt anyone would have any objections in this song - except, maybe, that "boop" sound when it goes up four notes and repeats.

Okay, Disco Dan is a remixing god; we all know that. Now, here comes an incredible arrangement of the "Memories of Green" song. I swear, Disco Dan should be the arranger for Chrono Break. I'm going to indulge myself a bit here: Dan the Man in the Can with the Plan had done it aGAN!
Very cool, relaxing, and beautiful throughout. Good wrok, keep it up.
i have usually been pretty neutral about Dan's stuff. i can obviously recognize his talent and ability, but he hadnt done anything that reeally struck a chord with me.
I was blown away by this mix. First of all, the production is ablsolutely top-notch. the samples are all great. but more importantly, it's arranged so effectively and beautifully that it really conveys emotion, as well as musical goodness. I like the minor 9 that is used in the beginning and end. nice.
Definately a keeper.

not much to say other than its good at the begining at great around 4:39 and beyond...even though its more syth orinerted it still seems to sound better than or piece. I think this is one of my favorite songs with no exagguration. creates a atmosphere thats very hard to come across.

I do not like the trumpets at the beginning. Personal preference. That said....
HOLY GOD THIS REMIX IS F-IN' AMAZING! I listened to this remix for about 3 hours straight when I first downloaded it. It's very chill, very smooth, very very very very high quality, and pretty as all hell. The bass fits, and the melody is wonderfully changed up, and the double-time is perfectly timed and fits seamlessly, SEAMLESSLY in with the rest of the mix.
Whoever you are Disco Dan, may you be blessed with all the good things in life for blessing us with this remix.
greatest. piece. ever.
~weed
Excellent. Beautifull.
Before I downloaded this mix I was really opposed to hearing anymore remixes of the Chrono Trigger main theme. I love it, but there had allready been so many remixes of it done, I didn't think any new remixes of it, no matter how good, could really do enough new with the exhausted scource material to warrant yet another mix of the same song.
Well, this song sure proved me wrong. This song proves, no matter how many different remixes of the same song you allready have, if someone makes another really good one, it will still be a worth the download.
By the way, it's nice to see Disco Dan departing from his style a bit, and covering non-megaman stuff. I'm eager to hear more.

Possibly one of my favorite mixes of the CT Main Theme I have ever heard. It simply has a warm sound to it that brings me back to the days where I was first playing the game... (I have beaten the game over 1K times, so I am quite sick of the original songs now.) I would have liked it if it stayed on the piano as the focus for the whole song. I didn't like 'Instrument X' thrown in there. But oh my gosh, I am obsessed with the main theme of CT. Thanks for the Mix, Disco Dan. A classic.

The bass fits perfectly with the other instruments. It has a wonderfully smooth quality about it. Everything fits together flawlessly. Beautiful.

A VERY well done song and extremely solid in every respect, this song is one of my favorite "chill out" songs found on the site.
The song is split into two sections, one having the main "Guardia Forest" theme with a light main theme done in piano, and the second with a more upbeat and faster Chrono Main Theme with some synth flute or something (shakuhachi?) of that sort.
There's not much that challenges the listener in this song, which is nice and what really makes up the line between the techno/dance stuff and the relaxing stuff for me. I don't feel a need to dance, to sing, or to do much other than relax in the musical flow.
Speaking of the flow, this song makes great ambiance music to a room. I live in a dorm right now and I like to keep some nice background music flowing to keep it relaxed. This song gets quite a bit of playtime for me...
Excellent job.

What? A DD remix without any sample/tune/melody/touch of disco? OK, WHATīS GOING ON HERE?!! :x
Ok, Iīm more calm now, seems like Dan also can do some stylechanges. As for the remix, very smoothing and soothing, has a relaxing mood and a slight touch of some jazzy tunes in the beginning. First after a minute the melody gets on rolling with some real good piano, thatīs the way it should and always be.
Very impressive of you Dandude, but please donīt abandon your discostyle, thatīs your best thing to do yaīknow?

I agree wholeheartedly. Aside from the sound quality (which is eventually going to become outdated with any electronic piece anyway) there is not a single section of this piece that I can criticize. At no point does this become repetitive, nor does it use any gimmicks. It's fantastic.

It feels like im floating in the air...especially the last seconds where they key transcends [for want of a better word] and the bg instuments fades. xlnt ambience...simply brilliant.

This defines mellow. Three years later and it hasn't gotten stale or lost its five-star rating in my iTunes collection. While I've never been totally sold on the harmon mute intro, I can focus my attention on the meditative bass line and super-chill melody that take over at 1:14. Ah... bliss. Wow. When that piano starts, you can just tell. This mix is super quality. Such a great moment. I rarely get chills, and frankly find it quite cliche, but that moment was as close as I get.
The true impressiveness in this for me comes from the fact that this tune has been wrung totally dry over the years and interests me nil. Lucky I don't judge a mix by its source, otherwise I would have missed out on an original, slow-burning beacon of hope for the music of CT. If someone can squeeze this much blood out of the CT stone, then it is an exciting prospect for all music sources. Beautiful choices in arrangement, the fleeting piano tangents to the more subtle variations. It's exactly how to treat such a well-known, strong melody.
Disco Dan may not be reknowned for this sort of music, but he damn well should be. Excellent job.

I have to quote the above. Where are you, Disco Dan? This is one of my most prized OCRemixes that I have on my computer. It goes from Chill to UltraChill.
Its splendid. A near perfect mix that takes a source theme and layers a soundscape the likes of which most of us only dream to attain at some point. This mix isn't repetitive at all (it could be), and brings a unique feeling every time you listen to it.
Fantastic Job, wherever you are, Disco Dan! :nicework:

Right from the start I thought this was gonna burst out into a rendition of The Final Countdown, but thankfully Dan decided to go with a different approach :<
The opening strings are really breezy, and I couldn't think of a better instrument combo to follow up on that intro with than piano, guitar, and the mellowest drums EVER! :-D I can totally chill out to this!
Just when this could have ended with a synth outro, but instead things picked up again with a more fluid drumline that carried the tune nicely for a while before eventually breaking out into trance-mode... kinda :-P I'm writing this stream of consciousness style and honestly I can't pigeonhole this onto one particular genre. That's the beauty of Disco Dan's music - it's multifaceted, hard to pin down, but always AWESOME :-D
This is my first time listening to this and I'm really floored by the sounds employed here. Nice, nice work!

Wow, I am new to this site, and I am not a remix guru, just a big fan of Chrono Trigger and Square in general, and I am blown away by this track. It brought back special memories for me. This was my favorite music piece in the game, and I find myself replaying it in my head often. Disco Dan, somehow you dove into the souls of the people that truly loved this game and applied the passion that they felt to your mix. I am a new fan of yours. Can't wait to check out what else this site has to offer. This is definitely going on my IPod! Keep up the good work.
Thank You,

Nice lush opening with some semi noodley brass, and then some amazing piano and synth goodness. This is really beauty in simplicity, and has a great source with a really tasteful arrangement and expansion. Very nice stuff, and not surprisingly, from Disco Dan! :-D
