Soothing. Mysterious. Kalm. ;)

It has a nice flow created by the harp and the deep strings, almost hypnotic. I would have taken more advantage of that part, meaning I would have extended it. But it works perfectly as it is, you just want to listen to it again.

:nicework:

Agreeage. Calm, and whatnot. Mysterious and whatnot. Wonderful and whatnot. ;)

Nicely blended all the way around. Perfect dynamics. I think thats what makes it so immersive: The fact that its so well done. I find no fault whatsoever.

The mp3 encoder gets pissed off from the soaring strings, but thats not Russell's fault. Otherwise,

Bravo.

Final Fantasy VII is my favorite game of all time for many reasons.
One of those reasons, is this song, and the story it represents.
How 7 years ago ShinRa Energy and Power sent a troop of soldiers to the town of Nibelhiem to inspect the Makou reactor. This is the song that plays as Barrett, Tifa, Red XIII, and Aeris sit around listening to Cloud tell his story up in the hotel of calm. Russell Cox could not have picked a better, more emotional, more meaningful song to remix, and he couldn't have done a better job of arranging it if he was Uematsu himself.
Russell Cox. Man. Musician. Genius.

I start believing in my abilities as a mixer... and then I hear this... I realise that I have no chance at ever attaining that level of mastery over music...

This carries emotions fare beyond words... you actually feel the sadness, nostalgia, and sacrifice behind this song...

OMG! This was beautiful. Very cinematic if I must say and moved me to the point of tears, but instead I smilled: Should have been at the end of FFVII. Very nice, Rusell!

Simply breathtaking. This is exactly what I want my new album to sound like. Epic. Wow. All I have to say is Wow.

Man, I just wanted to say this is a great arrangement. I love the instruments and the overall quality. I really don't have any complaints with this one, but I LOVE the harp parts, and the occasional Horn parts and I think you should have incorperated more of those, because they were very nice to listen to.

I've had this on my computer for awhile now, and I still listen to it. It was originally on VGMix. I get as many of Russell Cox's ReMixes as I can!! He has an ingenious way of ReMixing these songs.

I always have felt that if anyone was to make a live-action film of Final Fantasy VII (or Ninja Gaiden -- the other ReMix that he has) I would hope that they would hire him to do the score soundtrack.

Always excellent work, and I hope very much to hear more.

I agree that its overall "sound" is very nice, and it is moving, although this piece doesn't seem like a remix. It's more like an add-on or beefer-upper.

T'was good, but I would have liked to hear more!

 *sniff* man, I feel like my brother just died or something. Or like someone with a really long sword just wiped out my village and walked off. Oh wait, wait, I think I know why! This is from Lord of the Rings right? no? Well it kicks ass all the same. I mean, this song wasn't even all that good in the game. Sometimes, the most beautiful things come in tacky, poorly wrapped wrapping paper. But as soon as you smash the package and burn the paper, you get a rash. Or something... :?

Wow.....just....wow.

Russell, I must commend you for taking such wonderful music from a game and making it 100 times better.

Thanks a lot for the comments guys, I really mean it.

While I'm not sure this is a good addition to my "ouvre," as I have no idea what that is, I would like to think this is a good addition to my "oeuvre." Question is, will David pop in here to tell me what an "ouvre" is?

This music....I have no words for, for this song is intriguing...you have taken a horrible object and wrapped it up and changed it into a beautiful thing. Very nice...

Agreed.
I like symphony and orchestra, but not with the classical feel to it - not efficient enough, or something. This is good, very good. My favorite Russel Cox.

At 2:41 (though my player is often off with it's time keeper) those strings (I think) change chords, and become almost dissonant what with that sharp-sounding bit. But it still sounds right, it just brings out emotion, like the people playing the instruments are trying not to cry. Waah! ;)

actually i think that's also part of the original to some extent, although i've got this so "confused" with the original(mostly due to the fact that i dont listen to it anymore, because this is better).

anyway, nice! and i resurrect the star system with giving this one....fifteen stars.

I have only one word to describe this piece...-whoa-...I mean, honestly, you can tell this had a lot of feeling put into it. I am not much into classical (although I am known to listen to it from time to time) but this piece would probably even move a rock -n- roll die hard fan (considering if "he/she" was a FF fan mind you) to emotion...

Awesome job, Russell! :D

Very relaxing. To me, it just sounds like an orchestral version of the original song, which isn't a bad thing. It rekindles memories of those terrible, heartbreaking times in FF7. Very emotional and very epic.

Wow, this song brings back memories. Russel did an EXCELLENT job remixing this baby. It's pure, in emotion, power, and majesty.

It really captures Cloud's exposition, in crystal clear musical form. I just cannot imagine a better job than what Russel has already done with this. It's breath-taking, and awe-inspiring.

Oh man - this is one of the best songs in the whole game. Russell Cox makes a perfect background part for the best story in all of video games - excellent! The man is incredible.

This is by far one of the most touching and beautiful pieces of music I've listened to. The consistent, quiet background parts aren't overpowering the melody, and the harmony of the main part with the background is wonderfully done. There's just enough variety to keep one interested, and everything is so well planned out. A plethora of instrument types work very well here, too. And that single sickening chord toward the end is enough to keep anyone awake for a good hour at a time. Orchestral music with this many parts isn't by any means easy to work with, but this is dead-on to my ears.

Personally, I think you nailed this one. Amazing job.

Extremely touching and musically well done. The emotion and flavour of this piece grabs the soul and trancends ordinary words.

Technically, there is seems to be glaring error at approximately 1:28 to 1:31 where a looped sample seems to be re-played. The oboe comes back in after a cymbal buildup very quietly and unexpectedly and it seems out of place. This may only be my copy that has this error, so if you don't hear it, blame my ears.

awsome remix. It keeps the familiar feeling you get from FF7 and it makes it grow inside you into an exciting new love for the game.

This is a superb remix that really captures that weird nervous feeling you get in Midgar. Or maybe that's just me. :D I did think that Russell could've done a little more by the way of melody, but this is still a great song.

Forgot to look at the remixer name when I downloaded this, so when I read pretzeldudeīs review, then Russel shows up, and I jumpes of surprise. Cox has always been good at orchestrics, this is no exception, this piece is great. Strings that indicates fear and sorrow, and a horn that gives this remix some more power to it, and the HARP, that is just DUDE. Itīs calm, comforting, and most of all beautiful. RC has really catched the mood of this song and made into a mix for everybody to see, thanks fer that Russeldude, thank you.

Wow can't believe I missed this one. This really brings me back to FFVII. Excellente. This has got me even more excited about the FFVII proj.

Def one Mr. Cox's best. Tons of emotion and variation, this piece really hits you from all angles and keeps things fresh.

This is a great orchestral piece, rich in harmonies, full of emotion, great use of each section of the orchestra, and it never ceases to maintain the dark yet beautiful setting of FFVII. Keep these coming, Russel!

I had this piece playing when someone who doesn't know much about video games walked in the room. They asked what movie this was from so they could buy the soundtrack. :D

I have a short playlist of particularly beautiful and meaningful OCReMixes, and this was one of the first on the list. Very well done!

This is beautiful. Simply beautiful.
The work of a master, nothing less.

I didn't notice at first, but the second time I listened to this I heard the flow into the Main Theme of Final Fantasy VII and I absolutely loved it!

10/10

brass started out weak, but the harp sounded rockin, so all is forgiven. The chord at 2:42 really threw me off though, and the colors didn't match at all. It resolved fine, and the modulation beyond that was solid, but it was really sudden and not really great, IMO.

Otherwise a very good arrangement, the treatment was very nice. Just a few blemishes on this one.
