Hello all, I'm a newly registered user (though I've been lurking for awhile) and must say that I'm very impressed. I only wish the FL threads were still active; could do with some tutorials!

Cheers, and seeya around.

Greetings, everyone! I've been visiting these boards for months now but just recently started an account so I can start posting. As a good citizen, I'll be doing my part to follow the rules, be a good poster, and all that. :)

Hello, another newly registered user here. I've been coming to this site for almost a year now. I never really paid much attention to the forums before, so I decided to check it out. Anyway, I love the site, keep up the great work!

Anyhow, WELCOME, and that goes to everyone! I hope you all have a great time here in the forums. Though I myself am rather new, I have experienced these boards and enjoyed every bit of it *except for those banning incidents but after a while you really just don't care who gets banned anymore*.

Soooo....I've actually already posted a few times, I'm kind of used to things around here. I got hooked on the sight within the first 7 seconds of The Wingless' "All the world in a Girl". I actually have an OC Remix playlist on my iPod. (I listen to it more than all else.) And just to stir the chile just a bit, I liked FF8 better than FF7. *ducks* Anyway, good to be here.

Just watch yourself in GenDisc and UnMod.
Especially UnMod. You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. You must be cautious.

Do not worry! As long as you are yourself and enjoy yourself here, then there is nothing to worry about.
As I have said before "Explore! Post! ENJOY!".
Don't be weary *sp* too much about unmod. It is just like any other portion of the forum, just with porn :)

Okay, here goes nothing. I was first introduced to this site by a friend of mine who I met at boarding school. After getting me sufficiently hooked on OCRemixes, he had me make this account so I could listen to a couple of WIP's he wanted me to download. Shift to the present day. I figure: it's summer, I have this account, I'm bored, and there are other people here, so why not do some posting? I'm very erratic about things like this though, odds are, I'll be obsessed with this for a week or so and then drift off somewhere else, as uneventfully as I arrived.

Hi. My name is Matt. I first came here when somebody I chat with in IRC linked some ReMix. Gothic Sandy, I think it was called. Or something like that. After a few months of looking around, I decided to make an account. I'm hoping that one of these days I can submit a little sumthin' sumthin' here to OCReMix. I think I'll need a sound card that can actually record, first...

Uhm. I guess it's my time to come and post in the 'newbie' section.

I don't really like the term 'newbie' because it's so derogatory in most cases. Anyway, I have been reading the forums for a while, and have been coming to OCRemix for years ... I have one of the shirts, and I downloaded and listened to at least most of the mixes here. Somewhere inbetween 10 and 20 remixes have been played at parties that my friends and I have hosted with dancing and costumes and what not ... everybody loved them, they were great hits.

What brought me to OverClocked Remix? Well, I don't remember quite how I got here, but I enjoy the place a lot. I play all kinds of games online, and I have been playing console since as long as I can remember. You can call me a "Nintendo Fanboy" if you like, since I am first and foremost a fan of their franchises and corporation, but I also have clocked hundreds of hours at 16 man Halo parties and other hundreds of hours on PS1/PS2 games, probably a few thousand hours on SNES games (emulation or at the console) and an unecessary amount of hours on PC games - MMORPGs (City of Heroes, WoW, EQ) Diablo II, MUDs, etc.

Anyway, glad to be on the forums.

Also, be wary of UnMod. It seems to be especially unfriendly towards newer people lately.

I should probably make a signature image and an avatar, just to look more natural.
Before you start making that avatar, note that OCR does not allow custom avatars. You can only choose from those in the gallery.

Hey from the bayou... I'm Anthony, also known as Hornet to my friends (cause I like to talk big, but I get swatted down way too easily.) I'm a 21 year old writer with big goals, and a gamer to boot. I love Mega Man X and all it's spin-offs, Metroid, Sonic the Hedgehog (and I still love it; I'm one of the 12 people who bought Sonic Heroes and still has it...) and there's not a fighting game out there I haven't played and enjoyed (except X-men Next Dimension.)

Music is a big part of my life, and game music has influenced me more than I'd like to admit. From Sonic's techno beats to Metroid's creepy ambience, I love it all and the people who do their best to make it better.

Welcome to all the newbies.

Adopt a Noob (http://www.ocremix.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=60511).
Maybe a brief explanation as to what it is would also be a little helpful

Basically, if you're new to the forums and wish to learn more about proper nettiquete and some forum history (mostly UnMod stuff) and inside jokes, then you put yourself up for adoption in that thread and one of the regulars in UnMod will "adopt" you and teach you the ropes. If you think you can hack it on your own, more power to ya, but if you feel you might need a little helping hand and would like to experience UnMod for yourself, the Adopt-a-Noob thread is a great place to start.

Welcome all to OCR and enjoy your stay.

I am one of the most newb n00blits you will ever have. Look, I even have a signature that I'll get flamed for(some opinions are worth stepping into the fire for, though). I also have a strange urge to give Mahaboo five dollars... odd...

But about myself... 22 w/m married looking for musical lovings anytime, anywhere. I have been a huge fan of OCR for a long time, and the reason I finally joined the forums was to find out what in the world happened to Scott Peoples?? I also wish to do the impossible for a person with relatively no musical past. Remixing. So after reading more about mixing and things of that nature rest assured to find some more newb like questions posted by me in the future. As far as a personal life goes... well that's personal. I'll probably talk a bit more as I warm up to all you folks. Until next time!

(in the audiance) Hi Martin

Of games I have been addicted, but by now I'm mostly addicted only to their musics and fanfictions.

I'm now working on a jazz version of FF7's World map theme, and I might possibly have finished the partition in a week and the song it in a month.

I think this is a great site, but I'll see if the composers are as great as their composition.

Not that you new kids shouldn't try lurking as well. It can be a very educational experience and give you a feel of how the forums work, thus resulting in less chance of attracting flames. Postwhoring will only lead to trouble. Trust me.

Hello to you madam! Before you continue your stay here, I wish to point out two things to you that will make everyone a bit happier with you and make you happy too!
One: Japan. A sort of subject that is wishy washy in the unmoderated portion of the forums. Don't speak too much about it unless it is spoken about first. At least there anyhow.
Two: Your font size is a bit small. The color is fine, but change your font size to normal. People will love you this way.

Actually, the color tends to attract some unwanted attention. Not so much in General (I haven't seen it, but then again, It's not my main hangout at OCR), but definately in UnMod.

Anyway, seeing as the Adopt-a-Noob thread is pretty much dead as far as attention goes, I'd be more than happy to extend my services to this thread. If you have any questions regarding the forum, feel free to contact me via PM or any of the chat devices listed below and I'll try my best to clear up any confusion there may be. Remember, there's nothing wrong with being a newb, or even a noob for that matter. There's plenty of time to learn and grow out of your young, newb shell. That said, have fun exploring the forum and enjoy your stay.

After a year-and-a-half-or-so of lurking, I finally registered in November, and I'm still only remotely active...

Anyway, I am most impressed by PPR; the discussions there are riveting. My interests are bistromathematics and God. Well, there are a few other things too. I am fascinated by storms, particularly of the thunder variety. I like to read. I don't read much, I'm just saying that when I do, I enjoy it. As far as music goes, I am a sucker for sweeping orchestras and big choral chant power! I'm actually tired at the moment as it's kinda late. I am fond of The West Wing and House, MD. I play the trumpet (sort of--my chops are waning). I'm studying to become a chemical engineer (because I like playing with chemicals).

My favorite posters from the Top Ten Poster list are probably Stan Tuna and The Coop. My favorite judges are ALL OF THEM. My favorite djp is djpretzel, the best djp ever invested with divine banning power (though I kinda miss Firedrake...).

I gotta say, this site is a glistening marlin in a polluted internet sea of decrepit mudfish. Seriously. It's icy-chill like penguins.

As you can see, I am very tired, and it is time for me to recover some brain cells.

I suppose that would make we Unmoddians the pushers and pimps hanging out on the street corner trying to turn the newbies to the dark side? Is that what you are implying???

Well, you'd be mostly right.
That was not the implication, but the analogy still stands as bizarrely accurate.

As far as I know, avatars are restricted to the Avatar Gallery. Go here (http://www.ocremix.org/phpBB2/profile.php?mode=editprofile), to the bottom, and open the avatar gallery.

Hey guys, my "online" name is PlutonIuM, but you can call me Tim, if you want. I'm 16 years old and I live in Greenville, South Carolina. I came here to learn how to Remix my favorite video game songs, while at the same time, listen to other's achievements. Basically, I want to expand what I know allready in music. When it comes to editing music with software on computers.. I get very confused. :( I love to play music.. I have always been into it since I was a little kid. I play the guitar and have been playing for about 3 years now. If I ever learn the basics of Remixing, I'd love to incorporate my guitar playing into it as well. Music is basically my life. Well, enough about me. This seems like a really cool community; Thank you for allowing me to take part. :)

I am up for taking some new guys as well. I could always use some fanboys for my project.

Sup. I, also, am quite teh new at OCR forums. Been a fan of the site for a long time now - I remember when the addy was remix.overclocked.org/. I remember there only being a couple of hundred mixes - I'm pretty certain I have some dodgy illegal contraband now-not-remixes remixes too. I'll hook you all up! (I kid, I kid).

But yah, hi. And help me name that ocr tune with Mariopaint cat and flower-trumpet samples in it (shameless plug for perhaps ill-fated thread in GenDisc).

Hi, I'm Noobix (or as I would like to have been called, NoobixCube... but I lost my activation email for that and now there's a dead name on the forum  ). Anyways, I've been posting for a couple of days (I registered so I could do reviews) and I only just noticed this thread . So, long story short, hi. I'm not much of a musician and I can't be bothered spending money on something like Reason (and I can't be bothered downloading it from a torrent - not that I WOULD do that anyway ), so chances are I won't become a remixer, but I have been a long time listener. I found OC Remix when I read a review on VG Mix that mentioned there were a lot of Lemmings remixes here :P (I love that game!)

'ello 'ello, all! I am ShiroiKuma, called Kuma-sama for short. I hope I enjoy my stay here as much as some people, although my reason is to kill time between remix downloads. I.. lack musical talent and the money to buy everything needed for a good remix. Plus, these genre's of music aren't really popular in my local area. *cough*redneckville.*couch* Here's hoping that I one day aquire musical talent, and the money I need. For now.. here I am. Welcome me. :D

Hello, everybody. I'm AnimeRPGFan (Or more commonly referred to as ARF on GameFAQs), and the Self-Named Thiefy Bastard (But if I get called such enough times I might be able to remove the "self-named" part! :)). I'm borderline obsessed with video games, and I enjoy playing Runescape (Don't hate me for it, okay? Liking something does not make me flamebait, unless it's something offensive or such... Which this isn't).

I also have a habit of occasionally overusing Parantheses, and I type with perfect literacy (save for the occasional typo or mocking something with AOL-speak), regardless of the circumstance.

...I think that's about all. Time to get to work on an Avatar and Sig to use. =3

SoloGamer

Excellent. The forum will love you for it. Many a noob have been flamed for improper spelling and grammar, especially in UnMod.
And before you get to work on that avatar, just be aware that OCR doesn't allow custom avatars. You're stuck with the ones in the gallery. Sigs are, obviously, okay.

Welcome and enjoy your stay.

Weclome, Pumahawk.
Just to give you fair warning, proper spelling and grammar go a long ways around here. Like I said in my post above, people get flamed whenever they post with bad spelling and grammar. Of course, a few typos are bound to happen. Those are no big deal. Just try to avoid using AIM/leet speak and don't forget to use that shift key and you'll do fine.
Again, welcome to the forums. Enjoy your stay.

Yep. One of the things people tend to forget is that it's a forum, not a chatroom. You've got plenty of time to come up with a response and type it out correctly, it's never a matter of seconds.

Exactly. Nobody expects you to type with perfect grammar, but at least stop using abbreviations and substitutes for words, like 4 instead of for, r instead of are. You get the idea.

Been here almost a year and still have horrible grammar, although my posting habits have improved over the last little bit.

So what they are saying to all you newblets is that there are some people in this forum who are very anal about posting. Now this is a toughie considering if you post to little of words your just postwhoring and are too dumb to respond intelligently. If you make a long assed post they also bitch because you wrote a novel and they are too lazy to read it. My advice is to not be annoying and yet still be yourself, you will win the respect of many people in here if you do just that.

Oh and one more thing sarcasm is a pretty overused thing around these parts especially in UnMod, so beware if you cannot handle that sort of thing.

Went on a tangent and I forgot to say welcome to all of you and I hope you enjoy your stay in OCR, feel free to PM me if you are in need of assistance. :D

Greetings fellow gamers and artists,

How ignorant was I, I just found out about this site a few hours ago and been browsing it ever since. I congratulate everyone for this effort, it must be one of the best for what it has to offer.

I always loved experimental remixes of original songs and melodies I love, and I don't think them as easy solutions for an artist to get fame and glory and their mixes as songs that give a bad name to their originals, as many people do. On the contrary, I love to hear different versions of a melody that once accompanied me to my journeys, metaphorically of course. And games are a good example. Even among my first mp3 downloads, about 6 years ago, there were tetris and pacman trance remixes and so on. Glad to find a community such as yours.

I am ... what am I? Well, everyone chooses a unique way to describe himself. Typically, I am a 22 year old Greek student that lives in Athens and studies Digital Systems in the University of Pireaus. But a job, a study, does not define you as a person. So I leave all further character info for future posts.

I'm in similar 'business' (but pleasure) myself, I have founded and run a movies community in greece and recently (around 5 months ago) we created our website. It's mostly about movies, but we try to cover all art areas (games, music, books etc.). An art is subjective and it touches and amazes us differently. An art is an expression of ourselves. Such are the ideas we try to promote. All texts for now are in greek, but I'd love to see some members from abroad, since the english language is always welcome.

Take care folks,
hope I'm here to stay,
Crus

hullo.

i'm visiting from vgmix having been alerted to rexy's dragon quest project.

i spent about a decade tracking starting with modedit in 1991 (four massive channels bulging with 8khz crystal clear samples), moved on to scream tracker, then impulse tracker, took a few years off, now i'm tampering with cubase, VSTis, and live instruments (guitar, bass, chapman stick, keyboard/synth, drumkit from hell superior, etc).

i blame my renewed interest in remixing vgmusic on dwelling of duels entirely. good stuff that.

nice to meet ya'll.

Oh my god, I've been browsing this site for some endless days now, doing much nothing else, I hope this never ends!
But I'll hold my thoughts and reviews for now, I'm not so familiar with the technical jargon, I'm into more psycho/philosophical things myself and when I first hear a new remix, its what emotions you get that matters, not how technically perfect it is.

I look forward to once again participating in threads, and as a matter of fact I'm off now to post a technical question.

See you!

Good day/evening to you all. :3 I sort of found my way onto this site by a friend who let me read a few of the threads and posts here. This community seems like a good place to share ideas. :3

First off I'd like to say hello to everyone. *Waves* I'm more of a instant messaging person myself and I've never really tried a message board before. I've been reading the "How to's" and "Facts" threads and they're very useful. I'm still getting used to the idea of threads, posts, and all that jazz.

I'm a big fan of video games and I usually spend my time in the dark cavern of my room being the little hermit I am. I spend hours of my day speed running through my platformers and leveling up to 100 in various RPGs. I also play Table Top Role Playing games and currently I'm storytelling for a group at my school. I love to expand on my imagination and try new things. Art is an expression of a deep rooted dream in our hearts... Or so I'd like to think. ^.^; I'm not a huge fan of card base gaimming, but I know it's a huge thing these days. I've played my share of munchkin, Pokemon ((Yes, and I admit they are d*** cute)), Neopets ((Again, the cute got to me)), and the like, but I'm still not addicted -Yet-

I'm working on getting a degree in Computer Graphics Design so I can move up to video game creation. I'm going to specialize in terrain design and the map matrix. I want to be the one making the backgrounds that go 'Boom' Hopfully, one day a company will find me and ask if I can create for them a new universe ((Or at the very least a world)) Odd World Inhabitants and Insomniac are my two rolemodel game companies for sheer origionality of their universes in both the Mudokin relms and the Ratchet universe. ((After that is Naughty Dog)):3
I suppose that's all the important and interesting things about me... *Waves once more* How do you all do? ^.^;

Well, it would seem this is the place for self-introductions, so here I go: Hello everyone, primarily those who bother to read this thread, I'm SpacePirateCaine, just another aspiring composer who's finally worked up the courage to join up here and see if he's good enough to get a ReMix or two on OCR. I'll admit, the level of quality is a bit intimidating.

Nevertheless, here I am. Ideally, I'll be around for a while. A little bit about me; I'm actually more of an artist than a musician (which is to say, I draw more often than fiddle with Reason), and work on amateur game design quite a bit (Primarily Adventures along the bent of the old Sierra/Lucasarts games).

So... Pleased to meetcha, for what it's worth.

Or even worse, UnMod. Those poor souls are rarely ever heard from again. Now let us bow our heads, for a moment of silence and remember what's his face, that one guy, and self-pic chick.

Seriously though, UnMod can be fun, if you lurk around a bit and get an understanding of how things work down there. Believe me, it's totally different from any other part of the forum. Some quotes that'll help explain what I mean:

Think of Unmod as a bar full of hard-ass bikers. There's stuff going on there that wouldn't fly in other places, but if you bust in through the door yelling something stupid, you're going to get your ass handed to you.

And a more harsh one:

Here in UnMod, you are fucktarded until proven otherwise.

So welcome, new people, and remember it's all about fun.

oh well...

Hi!

I'm new here. Well, to the forums anyway. I've used OC ReMix for a while now, mostly to download DOOM tracks (speaking of which I downloaded The Dark Side of Phobos today, and wow...amazing).

So, I hope the forums are as cool as the Remixes!

Ay!

Well, welcome to the OCR forums, and be careful when disagreements form... they seem to cluster around here, lol.

Im 15 years old.
Interests is: Girls (omg, theyre cute), games, manga/anime (nerd! X3), remixing and other stuff.
I have an upcoming remix, that I probably will post the first version of tomorrow. (omg, it is PSO!!! X3333)

You're 15? I'm the same age, but I'm going to be 16 on 10/15. (Can't wait to get my hands on that steering wheel!http://www.ocremix.org/phpBB2/images/smiles/icon_wink.gif

Well, since I finally got round to signing up, I better introduce myself.

My name is Stuart, I'm 21 and I'm posting from over here in rain drenched Scotland. I've been surfing and downloading from this site for about 6 months now but I've never got round to registering till now. I know I should've done it earlier but something kept me from doing so. The topic sizes.

I mean, this topic alone is about 64 pages long and I've seen a few at 100+ pages! There's even one in General that's 150+ pages long, which is just plain scary.

Anyway, I have overcame that fear and am here now. I'm not a remixer yet but I'm slowly learning about it. As a guitarist music is a big part of my life and I plan on doing some mixing at some point, but for now I'm just enjoying the amazing (and I mean amazing) arrangements that this site has to offer. There are so many equisite, professional and original pieces here that sometimes I feel like I should be paying someone some money for this.
It's the amount of variety though, (I remember the first time I used Ormgas, I was a while into it and was getting slightly bored after the third drawn-out-orchestral-piece-from-an-RPG-I've-never-played in a row and then Shael Riley's 'The Music of my Groin' came on and I laughed my arse off) that keeps me coming back.

Just to give whoever's reading this an idea on what my tastes in music are like, I'll post my top 5 OCRemixes that I've heard so far.
In no particular order:

Wanta Phanta ~ analoq
Fight On! ~ CarboHydroM
Ocarina Boogie ~ The Black Lodge
Deserted Industry ~ Beatdrop
Brinstar(DreamsinRed) ~ Children of the Monkey Machine, Beatdrop, K. Praslowicz

Ok, well I feel like I've said enough for now so I'll leave it at that. I hope the length of this post doesn't keep people from reading it, but I guess it's a piece of cake for 165 page topic veterans.

Paying someone? Seriously?

I haven't posted my stuff yet, but I'm prepearing it, and to let you know, I am very much a multi-talented person when it comes to music; who else makes a rap remix of Beethoven, or even more specific, a rap/salsa/classical compilation of his music?

Basically, I have raw skill, since I'm self-taught, and study all music, even types I dislike, such as country, but yet and still, I can compose anything I set my mind to.

Well, you've found a friend @ OCR, and enjoy the ride. :D

Welcome StuMan, Vaughn, Hanpusu-kun, and all the other newcomers.
Don't be afraid of big topics. Most of it is dated, irrelevent stuff anyways. Just skim a few pages, then read the last page or so of the thread and you'll be fine.

Also, as usual, be wary of UnMod. It's a little different from the rest of the forum and definately not for everyone. Lurk there for a while to get used to how it's like down there, else you might make a fool of yourself and be flamed to a crisp.

Anyway, welcome all and enjoy your stay. And remember, it's all about having fun.

hi!

i'm not really a newbie but i've been away for a really long long time. amazing how much has changed here! i still remember when this website was all orange and had a big pretzel on top so i guess that makes me pretty old now. (but most surprisingly, i still remember my login and pass, so i guess that means my memory is o.k.)

i was a lot less mature back when i used to hang around these boards so if any of you guys still remember me, i want to apologize for so mercilessly winning all those arguements back then.

i was thinking about all those weekends i spent downloading remixes on my 56K and, feeling a little nostalgic, i decided to pay a visit to the old neighborhood and, boy, its good to be back!

Hi! I found this site about 8 months ago, and I have to say it is a dream come true. I am just over halfway done sorting through all of the music (Yeah, I grabbed all three general torrents right away) to see what I want to keep. I absolutely love vg music, and hope that someday I can contribute to this site. I have some ideas, but I'm still not very good at mixing, plus I don't have good software/hardware.

Anyway, I'm 18, freshman in college, and am thrilled to be a new member of OCRemix!

Well, it seems like you've got a decent grasp of grammar and general...communication skills. It's a nice change from a lot of the people we get here.
Word of advice, stick around GenDisc for awhile before trying to tread into Unmod. In fact, if you're planning on becoming an Unmodder, LURK, for the love of god, LURK before you start posting.
This is for your benefit, trust me.
Anyways, welcome.

I haven't introduced myself properly,
so I thought I'd come and do so.

I have been posting on this site for like 3 months, but I can still introduce myself.

Hi, I´m Bummerdude, I live in Sweden, studying natural science in senior high school, and overall trying to be funny. I play some piano on my freetime, maybe on my several occasions I´ll learn something new, but that never happen. I like to draw stuff when I´m bored, can vary from flowers to bunnies, aliens and sandwiches.

And of course, I´m a big fan of OCRemix, otherwise I wouldn´t be here. I try to listen to most of the genres and styles, everything goes in music, and my favorite games are Final Fantasy, Zelda, Rayman, and other games that are just funny to play.

And for all the newbies, WELCOME.

I'm the Milquetoast Thug. Nice to meet you.

I've been playing the piano for about a year, but I only own a tremendously outdated casio keyboard from circa 1991, which also has a B-Falt that doesn't work. (which sucks.) I play chess (mostly because my father's trying to live vicariously through me, but that's for another time)and I enjoy naturalistic science fiction (Think Firefly, Planetes, and the new Battlestar galactica, and you'd be on the right track) I write and draw comics, but don't own photoshop (which also sucks, but which is ultimately not a big deal.) I enjoy attempting to beat Resident Evil games with nothing but the knife (Vincent Merkin Forever!) and play in and occasionally run Dungeons and Dragons campaigns. That's most of it...[/i]

I am Jake. Jake the Mushroom. It is through the delicate tendrils of my mind that I am typing this post to you, for you see, I have no arms. Though I am somewhat lacking in size and physique, I am hoping this will not be a problem.

I've been watching you guys for awhile, and I never thought about joining because I thought this just for, like, remixers. I mean, given the chance I would do something musical, but I don't. I started reading and I realized that ANYONE could join (this is the part where I banged my head on the desk). So, here I am.

Welcome, Tom and Jake (you wouldn't happen to be Mycon, eh Jake?)

Just keep up the good spelling and sensible posts, and you guys will do fine.

Make sure to heed Gaea's advice and stay away from Unmod. At the very least, lurk (that is, visit the forum and read the threads without posting anything). The people there can be quite friendly, but you have to have a high tolerance for eccentricity and outlandish behavior. Plus a strong stomach (they love to use shocking images).

Stan Tuna
11-09-2005, 03:41 PM
Hey! I'm Stan, and I just joined in the last four years. I like video games and music, especially that which is theatrical (such as, say, the Shenmue 2 soundtrack, or many of the SNES RPGs as Live a Live, Tales of Phantasia, Lufia 2, etc etc). One of my goals is to become a director, maybe working in the gaming industry as games are becoming more cinematic every generation. I'll probably be staying a while, so it's nice to meet you all!

11-11-2005, 01:57 AM
Hello all, I am Fillerman, and though my name is excessively insane, I can assure you I am not.

I am a long-time fan of OCR, just begining to make my way into the forum community. I'll be around, here, there, anywhere.

I'm concidering making remixes as well (my ambitions are rather high, are they not?) and will maybe slowly be around in that scene as well. To all my fellow Newbies, good luck, have fun and always bring your popcorn to movie night.

RandomDragoonKain

Hey, kids! I'm RandomDragoonKain, but I'm fine just being called Random, Kain, or RDK. Anything works, just don't call me late for dinner, or I'll cut you. D=

I've been going to the site for a few years now, and I just now decided to stop being lazy and sign up for the forums. I can't promise that I'll be active, but I'll sure try. Yep...sure...try...

I'm a Nintendo fanboy-girl at heart, though I also enjoy Sega and Squeenix. My favorite consoles are the NES, SNES, and Sega Genisis. I've played flute since I was ten, though I'm still not very good at it. I really want to remix something. I always get ideas, but I have no means by which to figure out the notes or produce it. So blah. There's my boring introduction, time to start tearing up OCRemix with my posts of awesomeness...or something like that.

Ten Flames
11-12-2005, 07:46 AM
Hello I am the Ten Flames. I think that the remixes on this site are awesome. I like how there are variations of music because I hate close minded people who only listin to one type of music or play only one type or game. I have been collecting and playing games all of my life I even have my NES hooked up still and still play it like once a week. I play all variations of games and listin to most variations of music. Some of my favorite games are Metal Gear Solid, Legend Of Zelda, Fatal Frame, Mega Man X, Shenmue, Mario Kart, and etc...
I live in New York, and I am currently applied to the NYC Museum School. In my free time I like to practice drawing when ever i not playing a game or listining to music. I have posted in UnMod before and thought that i should introduce myself here. This is a great site and I'll try and post as much as I can.

At least, in my opinion, lol.

Sup all.

I'm a bassoonist!! I love vidjo g4m3 music. I've been cajoling some of my profs to give up movie music for vidjo g4m3 music. But, not working out too well.

PM me if you want to see some of the stuff I've done/aspiring for. I'm mostly into arranging for live groups for live performances. I've worked with fruityloops a bit, but not pro with the software.

If anybody needs a bassoonist or a bassoon lick recorded, let me know!

If anybody wants to loose some money playing Super Smash bros melee, lemme know and I'll be glad to take a $10 off you ;).

Welcome back.
If you don't think your works are up to the OCR or VGMix snuff, then the fine folks at OverLooked ReMiX (www.olremix.org) would be happy to hear your shit. Their submission guidelines (http://www.olremix.org/about/) are pretty lax as far as quality is concerned.

The thing is...I recorded some of my music from Megaman6 that I played on the guitar and I have an awesome way of adding others and stuff...I mean all this stuff in my head but can't put it into context without failing miserably.....unfortunately in those six months I was out my PC crashed once more and lost all that. but I'll try since I play sax and Guitar but I am better with the sax than the guitar....I want to meld them but can't cuz I only had the trial version of fruity loops.(can't save)

it's been a long while since I last logged in...so I had to reactivate my account...I was on a 6 month hiatus....until now......I've tried making remixes but they are all severe failures  but there is good news...........I just saved a bunch of money on my car insurance by switching to geico.......no seriously it's great to be back I wonder if all my past aquaintances are still here....so um yeah.......hi all
Welcome back.

Try checking out the ReMixing forum (http://www.ocremix.org/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=7). You may be able to get some good information there.

The same goes out to anyone interested in submitting remixes. The people there are friendly and helpful (or so I've heard). Just make sure to be polite and courteous.

Hi there I'm not exactly a total newbie as I've been posting for a couple of weeks but I only just realised that this topic existed so here it is: My name's Diego Varese, I live in Montevideo, Uruguay ( that's a small country next to Argentina) and I just wanted to say hi and properly enter this growing community of awesome music and musicians :D

Wow! I did not really know that this site had forums and such! I think that I will enjoy being a member of this site! I can't wait to contribute something, but that may take a while till I get a new computer and other things like time. I am trying to get things together for college and the like, so I don't even have the time for a lot of my art stuff. I also love games! That is why I got a job at gamestop, but the hours are coming slowly. So far I work, like, four hours a week, and I have car payments too make. . .
But hey, I am going to try to learn how to make some remixes, and, who knows, maybe I can be good at it sometime. I am 17, a senior in high school, an artist, an member of www.limerockcafe.net (Kaisui Tatsu), www.minitokyo.net (Kaisui1tatsu), www.xanga.com( kaisui1tatsu), www.livejournal.com (animegigglebox, and that is it so far. I also plan to attend Lindsey Wilson College for a year, then transfer over to Savannah College of Art and Design.

I'm EVP. My friend sent me the URL to this site so I thought I would register.

I make electronic music under the name Electronic Voice Phenomenon.

You can listen to stuff I made here http://www.electronic-voice-phenomenon.com

I don't remix game sounds or anyone elses sounds, I create stuff by hand or on the several machines I own. Some of it is video game sounding and I am very influenced by 8bit sounds. Please check it out if you have a minute.

Also, please check it out if you are on drugs. It might sound better to you or more intriguing.

If you make similar stuff please let me know. I'd like to check it out.

If you make stuff using circuit bent instruments please let me know, again I'd like to check it out.

If you are in Norway let me know let me know.

If you regularly talk to the dead, let me know.

Ok, happening listening.

Hi to all !
I am George aka ElDoRado1239, I make games with Game Maker, I listen to music ( almost whole time spent at computer ) and most of the music I listen to are remixes, and most of them are, of course, from here. :)
I love Quake 1 and I think it's the best FPS around, and I love even much more Final Fantasy series ( FFIX is my favourite ) and remixes of its music. I think that Aeris was a bit annoying and that Cloud should fall in love with Tifa instead. I haven't played FFX and above, because when I got PS2, it was gone in two months and it is still lying in the service... I am looking forward to Final Fantasy XII and I dream about making an old school Final Fantasy like RPG ( I am actually working on it right now ).
Yeah, I am from Czech Republic, which most of you probably never heard about. But it's in the centre of Europe and our hockey players won the World Cup a few times. I am almost 17 years old, I go to a college and I want to make games, probably RPGs with cool music :)
I joined a little while ago, but I already downloaded everything from here ( what was available with torrents to go easy on your bandwidth and then the rest one by one  ) and I am starting to know everything too, or so it seems to be when I try to play some random remix. :)
Now, I really have to thank a lot to all the remixers here, GREAT work ! I hope you will continue it :D

Btw, I have a question. As I already said, I am working on a Final Fantasy like game ( similar to FFs I-VI, because I have a hard time drawing tiles, making models and pre-rendered backgrounds would kill me 8O ) and I really want to use your music. Would that be possible ? Of course all the songs' remixers would go into credits, along with original song creator and a link to this great site. I wouldn't charge money for that game ( maybe because noone'd buy it :D, no I just want to fullfil my dream ). So ...?

Phew, now you know more that you ever wanted to know about me, that's for sure. Hope you weren't bored while reading this and best regards,

ElDoRado1239

It is usually best to contact the mixer to ask for persmission to use their mixes. Though you aren't obligated to do so, it's the courteous thing to do.

Yoooo... I'm a hardcore techno producer from Finland. I run a small Finnish HC community @ www.kovaydin.net with lots of quality free tracks .
My favorite game series are Final Fantasy, Silent Hill, Metal Gear and Resident Evil... there are too many other games as well to mention.
Besides gaming there's anime, manga, going to hardcore parties, lucid dreams...
I also like IDM, ambient, psytrance, conscious/hardcore/underground hiphop, reggae and other styles...
I make hardcore with my own flavour. I want to keep it original, so there will be no basic partycore crap. It can be darkcore, speedcore, terror, breakcore, trancecore... sometimes I like adding some harsh noise or ambient as well :). If the melody is happy, the beat is furious, so you can't expect no happy hardcore, freeform or whatever from me. I don't really make game remixes, but the tracks are a mirror to my life so of course the influence in games and anime can be heard.
You can see this influence in some older tracks I've made as well:

(gonna remake some of them)

Audity
12-18-2005, 03:16 AM
Hi. I am Audity, formerly known as Oddity, formerly known as World of Ruin, dating back almost half a dozen years. What can I say? It's been awhile since I first visited this site back in the day. My way of posting you will find does not bode well with people as it seems too wordy or conflicted (EITHER THAT OR I PERFORM ONE WRONG ACTION AND THERE IS NO MERCY FOR HOURS AS A RESULT), but hopefully people can come to get used to it or even possibly enjoy it! Enough of that.

Here's an OCR history post of mine I saved from a long time ago.

---------------------------------

First time I started getting into music must have been when my mom got a Weird Al cassette dealing with all his songs with spoofs about food. In my drunken stupor of laughing in the car with a bunch of family members, I remember liking just about every song. All the time before, I never listened to the radio much, being raised in a super Christian household. Plus, both my parents dislike modern music (but somehow joke modern music is fun to listen to) so I never even really knew about it.

Some amount of time passed, and we thought of getting another cassette of his music. I'm sure at about this time, I was given a walkman, complete with mini speakers and headphones. I listened to that thing a lot. One day I switched off the cassette and turned on the radio to FM. Embarrasing as it is to say this, a song by Aqua called Candyman was on about the second song through, and I was really diggin' it (I wouldn't want to hear that song ever again nowadays). I kept listening but nothing really reached the "greatness" that was Candyman.

My older brother, involved in this Weird Al and walkman stuff at the same time, turned out to be one step ahead of me by being on the internet and downloading songs. Eventually, he showed me this "new mp3 format" which makes music audible and is ultra condensed in size. He was searching for random sites and somehow came across a site with the address: http://www.oth.net/

It was a short time before he and I searched for video game mixes (he seemed to be getting into techno 'n' stuff one step ahead of me). One of the first things I remember hearing in this genre was that Final Fantasy Prelude mix by "Disco Diablo". Music was so much more interesting back then when I had no sense of rhythm or of how songs worked IN ANY WAY. After giving up my search for more songs by Disco Diablo, more time was spent finding songs like djp's, whom I didn't know it was by at the time, Hyrulian mix ("Keith, you should look for mixes of Zelda").

It was time to upgrade from oth.net to Napster. It took some time, but eventually I searched for "Video Game Music Remixes". A list came up of songs with all them somewhere having "OVERCLOCED" (unexistant "K" and it being caps is the way it was). Somewhere the words Chrono Trigger caught my eye. Two of my favorite video game songs I remember were Frog's and Magus's themes. Not knowing from where the original of a song titled Revival Day Impoetus came from, I gave it a listen. The strings started up, and I was in awe of how they struck me with thoughts I don't even remember but are very nostalgic to me now anyhow. I just kept on listening. It must have been the best song I had ever heard from the duration of my birth to that moment. I listened to more songs that were still, even after hearing that, very pleasant to my ears.

I searched for OVERCLOCED on the web and got who cares what. Realizing my stupidity, I added the K in there and clicked on a reasonable result. It was the base OC Web site. I looked around the front page for awhile, not seeing anything about remixing (I don't think I even knew about control F at this point in life). I even read some comics found in that one section, and left the area even more confused after reading them. I couldn't find what I wanted...for just a day's passing, thankfully. I found its orangeness, lived through its moments, wondering how I would ever download all these mixes, saw its first downfall due to bandwidth or something, downloaded 90% of its mixes on a mirror which included a depressing gray background (no, not VGmix1.0), and witnessed the duel of the fates (OCR+VGM split). I downloaded all the mixes I could, finding, at one point, myself struggling between deleting things that were so horrifically bad sounding, and, at another point, I felt I had to have a complete set/mirror of everything including the ones I didn't care about. What can I say? The site just made me all warm and fuzzy during the latter. Many effects of excitement have worn off this site now, fallen victim to every day involvement and knowledge about anything and everything (hustle and bustle).

As an extra, when I joined the forums, I read some posts and eventually saw some posts from Spram. From then on I decided his way of posting seemed useful for me to mimic. I don't remember what my first post was.

----------------------------

Unfortunately since then, I've gone the way of permanent deletion in that I have made my own official OCR playlist without regard to random life passers-by's musical tastes.

ENOUGH OF THE PAST! I now play Beatmania IIDX as a rhythm game of the ultimately superior kind (other games in the back of my mind yet always there, awaiting to come out again), listen to VGRemixes via playlists, finally decided my career as a Computer & Information Sciences major, am willing to talk to people who talk to me, and, as always, am way too nice at times and help people out in a long-timed fashion. Recently quit Wal-mart and am going to school next semester full-time+3 with no job as a result of finally figuring out my career.

I hope to learn piano one day, along with some other interesting instruments. I've already started lessons. I just need to practice more, which I haven't been doing (much) for a year+. I also hope to be knowledgeable about all things AUDio, aka remixing equipment etc. yay impossible fun.

Currently enrolled in my parents' house, I hope to retire with my own home, where my new life will be born. I will gain much more independency, and therefore not want to waste so much time. But at heart I feel I will always be as I have always been (and am now obviously), which is lazy and willing to seemingly waste time on the internet talking with very limited people (each of them close friends), ranging from nonsensical matters to the improvement of the mind in many nuances of life. Basically, if you talk to me a lot, you will end up being a close friend. If you aren't, it will start out okay but then you will run away screaming, either publically or privately. However, these may be generalizations.

Read them, study them, memorize them...nah just screwing with ya, but seriously if you don't want to look like a total noob and be casted away like a piece of garbage...spending ample time reading them and trying to follow what they say is a must. Other than that you could also try PMing some people in OCR...obviously the ones who've been around for quite a bit of time, they'll help you out if they are feeling generous I am sure. That is all if you don't wish to be flamed constantly and treated as an outcast. Good luck btw... :)

Really depends on how much you already know.
If you're new to forums in general (like I was when I first started posting here), Gorveg's posting tutorial (http://www.ocremix.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=51135) and endblink's image and sig tutorial (http://www.ocremix.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=11654) are a must. The Quirks thread (http://www.ocremix.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=12142) is another highly recommended read (almost mandatory if you wish to stick around UnMod and actually understand what the hell is going on).

Have fun, and as Gaea said, don't be afraid to PM any of the older members if you need any help on getting around or anything.

Whew, I guess I finally joined in to this wonder OCremix site. Hi everyone, my name's Jackson. I can't wait to chat with some of the veteran or new remixers on this site. I hope to hang around here more often, instead of just wandering about the site of countless songs. Boy, are some of these fellas good at revitilizing old game music, though not all games appear to be too old. Thank you for devoting some much time for remixing your favorite VG songs.

Look at all the members, it looks like I'm at the bottom of the list. I feel so low. Well, at least I know most of us here if not all, find game music to be "the cooliest."

'lo there all : )

Just found this site yesterday and have been downloading music like there's No Tomorrow.

I've loved just about everything I've come across, so hopefully I'll soon figure out how this board works enough to go lavish praises on the awesome remixers.

I actually don't know a Thing about remixing... games... or technology... (*runs*) ... but! I do love listening to music like this, so thanks a million to djpretzel and co. for putting this together. (I do a lot of writing and often need "inspirational" music, and having found oc remixes through a friend a couple of months ago, though not knowing it came from a site like this, I have to say... y'all have inspired probably 100 pages of writing for me.)

So apologies in advance for being the Ultimate Newb, and thanks again! : )

Hello. I am new but have known about this site dince like last year but just thought I should join to see what the lowdown is on all of this stuff. I used to think it was weird to like music from video games, but I guess not. I like Sonic the Hedgehog a lot. Also, can't wait for Chrono Symphonia.

Hey, hello there!

So I registered a few months ago, posted in this topic, then promptly disappeared. But I'm back and I'll hopefully post in a few other topics this time.

Still loving the remixes here, and tell Rayza and Aurora that their postcasts are great!

Hello all. I'm Goten X, new to the remixing scene. I'm currently working on some songs for submission, and I can't wait for oyu all to critique them! I've been coming to the site for about 2 years, and I've listened to alot of different remixes. I hope I'll enjoy it here, as well as learn alot from the established remixers.

I've been lurking in OCRemix forums for about a year and a half now, and just wanted to come in and say hi :)
