WIP stands for Work In Progress, which either means its exactly that, or it wasn't completely finished when it was put out.

Hello newbies, and welcome to the ocremix forums!
Usually I would go on with this post to say how great the boards are and shill it to hell and back, but with the current influx of new guys comin in, the best thing I can recommend is to lurk for a while and see how the "groove" of the site is before posting.
With a lot of new people coming everyday, a first impression goes a long ways here now.
Do not be nervous though! After feeling how the flow of the site is, I am sure that you all will be accepted in in no time.

Wut up? The name is Chris and now you know what the C in CMG stands for.
I come from the world of DDR/ITG/Stepmania. I am a 2 year step file maker. I've always been a big fan of OC Remix and the stuff the guys make. Recently I've been venturing into the remixing world myself, and have made a few remixes of my own, only a few of them video game related... which I plan on submitting here to become just like the rest :-D
Other then that, not really good with intros so anything you wanna know about me, just PM me or send me an message on AIM or MSN.

Huh. With over 20,000 members, I certainly see why a good introduction goes a long way. xD I'll try not to be tl;dr...
Name's Katie, RTF is my gamertag for Smash Brothers (Melee) which I play religiously with my crew. We travel for tournaments 'cause we're nerds. I play a lot of fighting games, actually, my second most-played genre being music/rhythm, I'd say. I'm an avid beatmania fan (even though I suck at it), and probably suck more at Pop'n Music than I think. I also like to do artstuffs with whatever I can get my hands on- but it's mostly boiled down to photoshop because I'm poor, and, well, I already have it, so it costs me nothing, ha.
Now something maybe you're interested in- musical background! I grew up in a large family of musicians on my father's side. I've been exposed to live music since before I was even born. I grew up with ample access to multiple instruments, but I gravitated towards the piano. I've been playing it for probably sixteen, seventeen years of my life. I'm self-taught, can play things easily by ear, and have not only found great inspiration in classical greats such as Beethoven and Bach, but I'm also moved by the works of Koji Kondo, Yuki Iwai, Bun Bun, Masato Nakamura, blah blah, you don't care. xD
I unashamedly rock out to 8-bit chiptunes and classical music, but I really listen to everything under the sun.
Hope you can find room for me here, I'd love to actually put up a mix some day. :D

I'm JC (that's how that part of my username is pronounced, people have mistaken it for Jake before), and I'm currently studying Computer Games Design at college. I'm also an office worker on weekends to earn a bit of extra money, and on the side of that I'm also a forum administrator at www.goal-kick.com (http://www.goal-kick.com), a Football Manager fansite.
I've been lurking around here for a couple of months so I thought it'd be best to pop in and say Hi and thanks for the music. I'm no music buff by any means, nor do I know how to make it on a computer (aside from software that is a tad expensive for the amount of time I'll probably use it, but I'll pass my opinions on tracks that particularly catch my attention.
Most of the stuff I download from here are tracks that I would be able to recognise by previous experiences of a particular game, I probably wouldn't download a remixed track if I had never heard of the original before, so as I know what's going on and I know what improvements (if any) have been made to the original piece.
So anyway, hi guys, and I'll probably be seeing you around.

Hi. My name's Platinum Azure. I'm new.
I'm taking a Music Through Technology class at my school. I'm hoping it, and some experimentation, will teach me all I need to know to start contributing.
I like to think I have a pretty good ear. Can't make music all that well right now, though, in spite of it.
Woo. Good times.

Hey there, ho there
I'm Mahler, long-time lurker and OCR enthusiast. While my patronage of this wonderful site has been relatively inconsistent throughout the years, I do remember browsing this site waaaay back in like '99-ish: I'm pretty sure OCR was one of the first sites I found after getting the internet (AOL, lol). It was awesome finally getting to meet Liontamer and DJP at MAGfest earlier this month and catch up on what OCR has been up to lately. Now I sit once again at my trusty computer and I figured that after 8 years of inconsistent lurking, I should probably register an account.. so here I be.
I've been a huge fan of much of the talent that emerges from this site and every remix project impresses me more than the last. Much props to everyone who contributes... I can't wait to see what kind of awesome new stuff 2008 has in store.

Hey guys, I used to browse this site a long time ago and recently re discovered it.
I'm very much looking forward to composing/'remixing', and I figured I'd register to get myself known somewhat to the community.
I'm also running a band for anyone's information, and we're going to play some remixes and original compositions as part of our list. The few who I've so far managed to contact for sheet music to some of their work may already know about me(somewhat), and I suppose a number more will hear from me soon enough ;D.

Hey everyone!
I've been browsing this site for the last few months and have been blow away by the quality of the remixes here. Just awesome stuff, I listen to it constantly.
About me: I'm a student Game Designer that's currently directing a game for IGF 2008. I have a soft spot for the Mario and Sonic remixes.
Great site, guys! Keep up the music!
Hello there. Like most people here before me, i'm new to the forum, but a long-time lurker of the site. I first found it years ago and have been visiting it on and off since.
I believe MGS2 and "Metal Gear May Cry" by Jared Hudson first brought me here. I love most of the DKC remixes and the project album from a few years back.
The name i usually use is Wegalo, but i missed the "lo" when i registered :-?

Hi, I'm Splinter of Chaos (or SoC for short), and I'm only really posting here because some forums get itchy if you don't.
I don't really know anything about music except that I can make it, and I made a remixed the original Final Fantasy battle theme song as I learning experience, so I thought I'd join here and see if others like it as much as I do.
Note: I won't be checking here for replies. I HATE introductory threads, but I'm reading enough that I'm not ignorant while posting.

First time member, long time lurker. I finally got on because I really want to start to be an active member of the remixing community (as well as prepare myself a little bit for my music minor next semester). I've been playing the boards for 15 years now, percussionist for 10 (if anyone need any help or suggestions, just PM me).
Want to thank everyone active in the community for keeping this site up!

Hey, the's name is TheSnowStorm. I been around OCRemix giving my ears a delightful treat of musical remixes of my favorite songs from various video games since 2004. I was so blown away by your talents and my mind was open that video game music is actually music.
I have been playing the violin for the last ten years and just got into arranging music from video games a while back. It is my dream to compose and arrange music for video games. And maybe, one day, if my music I composed will be arranged by a fan, or even Video Games Live. One day, feh, I can only dream . . .

I just expect to be a friendly member and a support for anyone who needs it.

Hi everyone,
I go by the game MeleeGurl online, feel free to short form it pretty much any way you like. I don't mind nicknames at all, though mostly I get called Melee.
I have been a fan of OC ReMix for quite some time now. My MP3 player is loaded with tracks from several of the artists here and I am a big fan of the Voices of the Lifestream Album. I myself am a vocalist with a wide range and since I have a deep passion for game music I decided I wanted to get into the act myself. I have done two recordings so far of Final Fantasy songs which you can check out on my Youtube Channel.
http://www.youtube.com/user/MeleeGurl
They go under the titles of "1000 Words" and "Kiss me Goodbye with Vocals". I did both of these songs with the aid of Piano Squall's recordings from his CD GAME.
Though both of those songs have a more contemporary feel to them I can handle many different kinds of music including opera.
My history with game music goes pretty far back to when I could first pick up a controller and play video games. I personally believe that music is the soul of a game and can make or break everything in the game surrounding it. My favorite composers at this time are Nobuo Uematsu and Yoko Shimomura. From these two names I am sure that most of you can figure out that I am a huge Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts. One of my favorite composers from series outside of those two games is Motoi Sakuraba.
Part of my reasons for joining OC Re Mix are three projects that have been floating around in my head. I would like to do the vocals for three different song remixes and yet I do not have the means to remix the actual music. I am wondering if someone would like to do a collaborative piece with myself on either one or all three of these songs.
Here's the list of songs that I would like to work on:
"Why" Final Fantasy VII Crisis Core (An English version of the song)
The song from the Final Fantasy XIII Versus Trailer, it is in latin. I'm sure that most of you know which song it is.
"Sanctuary" from Kingdom Hearts II
If anyone would like to work on one of these peices with me please feel free to message me I will be more then happy to discuss it.
I am also open for collaboration on vocals for almost any remix. I am very willing when it comes to singing and I know pretty much all game music. So if you have a request please drop me a message and I'd love to talk with you about it.

Hello, my name is Ifey, and I just joined as of a couple of minutes ago...
I have to say, hands down, this is one of the best music sites out there, it can give itunes a run for its money, or lack thereof....
I just felt compelled to join because I have downloaded so many remixes from this site, it's not even funny...
As of late, my favorite tracks are "Fading Entity" and "JENOVA Celestial" from the VOTL album, "Above the Rising Falls" from the KH series, and "Master Emerald" from Sonic series. These songs are such awesome ear candy when I play this through my subs in my car...
Pure Awesomeness!

I'm Sivvus, I'm a clarinettist from the UK and I've been listening to Remixes for years... now I'm doing an A-Level music Technology course and I've really got in to doing orchestral arrangements on Cubase, and become much more interested in the process of making them! :) Haven't done any good remixes yet, but that won't stop me talking! ;)

Hello!
I've been a fan for a few years now, and decided I'd really ought to follow the forums better. ;-)
I sing, but really don't have access to a good way to record any vocals (outside of a microphone hooked up to a computer in a mostly empty room), but I could pinch hit in an emergency. :-)

Hello, I'm Godah, I like a lot the remixes I found about games. today I I have decided to register here. I discovered this webpage some years ago, maybe 3, and I think it is one of the most important sources of music I have, really I love a large number of remixes I have seen here. My greetings to everyone. Also, two purposes encouraged me:
1.Training my english, I'm a spanish student of English Phylology and I hope that this forum will entertain and improve my english as well ^^
2.It's obvious! Enjoying the remixes that great remixers do. I have been discovering without pause remixes and remixes which have won a little space in my heart :P And to meet "in person" the remixers ..wow that is amazing haha
Phttp://forums.thasauce.net/images/smiles/ts_ohnoes.gif And please understand that it will be normal if I don't speak perfect english, I have a lot to improve!! haha

hello you wonderful people,
Im new to this place, so i would just like to introduce myself:
My name is Christopher Carvalho and i am a Sound Design student @ the Uni of Hertfordshire, UK.
My involvement in music started when i was 15, dicking around with various software programs,
i have since studied music tech and started learning electric guitar,
my strong points are sampling and synthesis, but i am trying to broaden my knowledge with conventional approaches to music compositon/production.
I would love to discuss all that is musical with musicians of any kind,
thank you for this wonderful place,

Hey Everyone,
I've been lurking around the OCR forums off and on since 2002. I've had a few account names over the years, due to not remembering who I was or what my pass was, but none were ever important. Anyways I joined up this time in hopes of working with some people on remixing some songs. I figure there's gotta be at least one person around here who can lay down some funky beats and wants a little sax lovin' too. I play "professionally" (as professinal as one can get in a boring, cultureless, small town) so I can definitely hold my own. I'm not very music software savvy, but I figure with the youtube and all the intarwebz guides, I can learn. I have some gear, but I don't know if it works well for what I want to do here or not. Well, that's it for me. Later.
Hi, I'm a new member of these forums, but I've been getting music of here for ages.. even downloaded three of the torrents.
I decided to join the forums as part of a plan to eventually geet some guys over to a project I'm helping with.... but that's later.

Hey guys, just dropping in to say "Hi".
I'm currently working on a Katamari Damacy track and a Pokemon Red/Blue track too.
Hopefully I will finish them soon and get them up on here, so I thought I might as well register on the forum first to see if I can get any ideas for more tracks or get people interested in a collaboration for something.

Hello everyone.
I'm João Filipe de Carvalho, 21. My artist name is the same as my nickname here - Nodachi.
I've known OC for a long time. Even if you ask me, I have no idea why I never registered and posted musics here before.
I'm from Lisbon, Portugal. I've been making music since my 12, I started taking it seriously, and recognized it as my dream not too long ago. Currently, I'm majoring in Music Production and Eletronic Music at ESART, Portugal.
There's some things I love it about here. When you visit production forums, all you see is:
"Yeah I got the new Megasynth 3000 plus with 50 Gb's libraries ahahaha!!! I have it and you don't!!!"
...
Honestly, im sick of all that talk, in every single forum. Here, from what I've read so far,
people cheer for each other, recognize each other's talents, and thats something I find cool.
Ive hearded some really good things, some of them with amazing production quality.
I hope I can learn from all of you, and teach a thing or two when possible.
I have two songs I remixed especially for the site just a couple days ago. I'll send them to evaluation today.
About gaming: I'm a big, big retro fan. Streets of Rage, Revenge of Shinobi, Super Hang-on... man, im having goosebumps XD
Currently I'm playing some MMO's and Devil May Cry 4 as well as Chrono Trigger (again XD).
Thank you for your attention, I'll post sometime soon.
Greetings,
Nodachi

As for your songs, I'd highly recommend posting them in the WIP Forums (http://www.ocremix.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=16) to give people a chance to give you some constructive feedback before submitting it to the judges. It may save you a lot of time waiting for a decision in case it's not up to site standards.

So... Im Sérgio Fonseca, from Portugal. I would describe myself as an idealist . A dreamer. I played my first videogame at age 12. Altered Beast, for Genesis. My first real game, however (although Altered Beast was not that bad) was Sonic the Hedgehog. A few years later I got miself a psx and a copy of FF VII, and, well, same old story... A few Final Fantasys later, I found miself fed up with all that intensity. Must all games be that dramatic to be good? Where was this industry going? Where was the light-hearted magic of the classics (like...Sonic)? So, i went to the videogame store, and what did I found? Ratchet & Clank!!! Of course, i've played all sorts of games, but these two franchises were the ones that left their mark on me. And this is my videogame experience. Thanks for reading...

Yo, I'm Jon Edwards.
A friend showed me OCR in high school and I've been using the site as a music and geek-related news source ever since.
I realized recently that said introduction happened five years ago this past March, and coupled with the donation thread, I figured it was about time I actually put up an account.

I honestly can't remember how long I've been skimming over this site listening to stuff, but it's been a while. That considered, you can blame the likes of Ailsean and Ashane for my showing up here. Buddy o' mine linked me to some tracks, and after a few marathon sessions coding Terra in Black and Cessation of Mammon into Guitar Hero 2, I think it's safe to say I'm hooked. Hopefully I can get some sort of setup going here soon that'll let me see what I can contribute to this fine repository of schtuff. I gots me a couple gee-tars and some brass in desparate need of noisemaking, so here's hoping.

Hiya OCRdians (OCRnites perhaps?). Anyhow, like many others posting in this introductory thread, I'm a long time listener / lurker / fan of the site, and I finally figured I would engage myself in this community a bit more, so here I am :P
My name is Scott, age 26, and I've been a gamer pretty much my entire life. I grew up playing Hunt The Wumpus on my Texas Instruments TI-99 at the age of 2, and have gone through pretty much every console since then. I have an affinity for Mega Man 2 remixes and egg salad.
I play guitar, albeit not at the level of the artists around here, but I do enjoy coming up with my own renditions of various video game songs in my spare time. I would like to develop my skills and perhaps look into remixing at some point in the future, however I suffer from acute symptoms of laziness. If I do ever get around to actually learning everything that I need to however, I hope to submit a Destiny of an Emperor montage, seeing as how the game has gotten no love it seems.
Anyhow, I guess that's all for now. Thanks :>

Well, hello everyone! My name is AJ, and I go on the internet as PianoCat. I've been listening to OCRemix for a long time now, and I recently submitted my first attempt at a Chrono Trigger remix. I'm looking forward to hopefully being part of this awesome music community!

Hello! I'm Tsukimoon! Yes, my name is what you will say.
I'm an aspiring musician, and have already stolen SOOO many DKC remixes from here it may be unreal. I also generally like to keep my typing grammatically correct, at least, as much as I can.
I'd like to say that I am a few months into learning piano, and I have FruityLoops but most things are confusing. Expect to see me in the help section for that! ^^
That's it for my introduction. Thanks for your time!

Hello everyone!
I've been a long time listener to this site and I've finally decided to join in the fun of forums and chat it up!
I love music as whole, more so game music and while I can't make my own remixes (I haven't really tried, I'll admit), I do love hearing people's other interpretations and creativity of their own.
It's really nice to meet you all and I hope to enjoy more great remixes from the lot of you!

Heya guys, I'm Synius, formerly known as Arcsynth or Lythe, if you by some random chance have met me elsewhere a long time ago. =P I've been doing music for about 3 years now, and I can't get enough of it. I've only really attempted a video game remix once, and, well, let me just say that was long ago. XD I've experimented with many electronic genres, but it seems like Trance (specifically, Melodic/Dark and Progressive) is my forte. If you're interested in what I sound like, you can check out my sites in my signature.
If you want to talk, feel free to send me an IM via AIM. =D

I am also a Nintendo, Final Fantasy VI, and a Sonic fan. If you want to collaborate or talk to me just message/reply to me and I'll get back to you!
I'm Mio. :-P I guess I'm not the only one who decided to join OC Remix some 6 or 7 years later.
I love you all! Keep remixin' 8-)

Welcome to OCR. Since you've got some music you're planning on submitting, I'd recommend you first drop by the WIP Board (http://www.ocremix.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=16) and post your songs there to get some intial feedback. Then folks can let you know if they need any refinement before submitting.
Enjoy your stay :)

Yep, it's the Cap'n!
I've been remixing only since around October of '07... I dun think I'm half bad for a newb, but I'll let you guys be the judge of that...
I use the demo of FL studio 7. It's only the demo, but it gets the job done.
I'm afraid my remixes may be denied, though, 'cause they're pretty much MIDI rips...
But they don't sound like it!
And yes, I'ma put 'em in the WIP Forum!

Hey everyone! First off, I'm sure it's said constantly, but I love the work everyone does here. All the remixes and collaberations are awesome. So, in hopes of learning something new in music creation and remixing, and music in general, I thought it'd be a great idea to join these forums.
I'm a pretty big amature, with only a bit of experience with a keyboard and vocals. I've played with FL Studio and decided that I wanted to upgrade to something a little more in-depth. So currently, I'm using Reason 4.0 which is pretty awesome. However, I am still far from having learned much at all. And I'm still learning to play the keyboard and use it with Reason. I've done vocals very few times, but I don't suck at it, so I'm better with that.
Aside from that, I'm a student at ITT Tech and a CSR at Blockbuster. I live in Jacksonville Beach, and love where I live. I don't think it needs to be said, but I love video games, and have since I was a wee lad :p Anime is pretty sweet, too.
So, that's it guys! If i seem like a cool guy and you'd like to get to know me, please don't hesitate to pm me. I'm always up for meeting people.

A fine how do you do to everyone.
I have signed up on these forums to accomplish 3 things. Firstly to review every track in my collection (1530 and counting I deleted some) in a more formal review format. Secondly I wish to learn how to remix and play the new keyboards I have access to now; it will probably take a couple years to learn enough to post stuff I imagine. My third mission is to request remixes for games such as Vectorman and Mortal Kombat. Either they have none or someone mixed up the movie theme for MK and I want some stuff for the games up there.
I tune Pipe Organs for a living but illegal immigrants have stolen most of the business so I wont be doing that for much longer. If any one cares you can contact me anytime you wish, I don't mind at all.

Hello....Im Mygames....And I would like to remix some game music. I am new though, So I'm still figuring out Fruityloops...
BTW: I do art too.... I'll upload some of those..eventualy. :P
I also am A fan of the OLD sonic games (new ones suck...except SRA)
If you want to hear my first remix...um...Ask. it's called Donkey Kong Country: Mood Swings. :D
Anyhow, Hi. I would like help making some remixed music because I know what sounds good and have some fresh ideas;but I'm only just figuring out fruity loops. I've got the music finding down, the piano Roll a little...thats about it.
So before I keep rambling on and repeating myself...

Welcome to OCR, dood!
Find some hosting and post your stuff in the Works in Progress forum (http://www.ocremix.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=16), there's probably a few people willing to give you some critiques on your music, to help you improve and whatnot.
Rozovian
04-28-2008, 06:10 AM
Tindeck.com for hosting.
Welcome to ocr, and like OverCoat said, come post your works in the WIP forum (http://www.ocremix.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=16).
Hang around and listen to other ppl's works and read the feedback they get, you might learn something that way too. Don't be afraid to post your stuff, there are a lot of people with very different musical background and skill level there.
Then there's the ocr FL subforum (http://www.ocremix.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=28), for FL-specific questions; and the guides (http://www.ocremix.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=29). I especially recommend zircon's compendium on remixing (http://www.ocremix.org/forums/showthread.php?t=3314).
And don't worry if you're just not getting it. Just try to learn something every time you read something or do something with FL.

Hey gang! :-P Thanks for all the sleepless nights! lol I just stumbled across the site about a week ago and, wow, just wow. Incredible music, insightful reviews, friendly community...where have you guys been all my life?
As far as myself, I'm taking my first tottering steps into the whole MIDI camp.

Right now, I'm just window shopping software. (Looking at the FL demo currently. Looks nice, but where are my hard-coded hex values?) I just wanted to pop in and wave, and toss kudos out to everyone. Other than that, I guess I'll just ease my way in, and hopefully I'll have something spiffy to put up here in a bit. :-o
(Wait...are those actual music notes? Like...real ones?)

Been hanging around with OCR for about three years now, but I haven't really thought of joining as an actual member until recently when I started looking through the WIP forum (for about the last few months). So hello to everyone here and whatnot!
Just a little background on myself... I've been playing the clarinet for nearly five years with a marching band season included in there. I have 0 experience with any music programs, so I never use any of that technical jargon that I don't understand - instead, I just use the music language I've been taught with dynamics, balance and whatever I can babble on about. Odds are, I won't really make any music around here as I'm still heavily in the learning process. However, I will stick around and give as much insight and feedback to WIPs and whoever else requires help... and while I'm at it, of course, get to know everyone better and vice versa.
Probably an obvious one, but anyhow, thank ye all for your dedication to working with music in creative and helpful ways and kudos to everyone!
Fyi, just call me Wind rather than my full username, which is essentially just there to differentiate me from anyone else that may go by "Wind." Or because it's cool..-ish...
EDIT: Also, hi and welcome, Sick16, to community! And by actual music notes... well, far as I know, you're using synthesized sounds and not live instruments. But the notes themselves are real. The sounds are created to be as close to the actual instruments themselves (I hope they are... because I know there's some bad ones out there). Hope that clears up your inquery.
Hello, all. I'm new.
Well... new-ish.
See, you can tell by my join date that I'm not really new at all. In fact, I've been hanging around OCR for what seems like half my life. Left a review here and there, but never really got into the community aspect of it. But now, all that is changing, as I am... *gasp* beginning to aspire to my own musical ambitions.
I can't play a damn single instrument. I can't even read notes. But I can sing, and I have recently discovered that I have some degree of absolute pitch (which explains how I've been in something like 5 different choirs and never learned how to read music. @_@).
My offering to the community is something that I hope is unique: I'm a lyricist. Give me a tune, and I'll happily put words to it. Want it to rhyme? Fine by me. Don't care? All the more freedom. I love writing lyrics and experimenting with music in my head, so until I can afford my own musical mixing equipment / software, I'll be happy to help others who need it.

Hi everyone, I joined recently and am very happy to have done so.
The name's Viktor or just call me Xeno, whatever suits your fancy.
I love game music, it's heavily the reason why I get to play some games (for the sole reason of having a kick ass music) and IMHO Overclocked Remix has also played an important part of this with its top notch remixes AND remixers.
I've recently uploaded my first submission in the WIP's & Releases sub forum, the thread's title is "Let's go trance" should you want to check out what I'm into.
I'm somewhat a very curious guy, and like to get involved deeply in things that interest me. Thanks to you guys, remixing is now part of who I am, and I'm very interested in improving and making the best out of this experience. Hope to talk to ya soon, and eager to hear from you, Viktor 'Xenocrates' Luna. :)

Hey, all! I've been coming to this place for good music ever since a friend showed me my first remix. I've been hooked ever since!
I don't own any consoles, although the PC is usually enough to work with. I discovered the depth of soundtrack music after that first remix, and have been collecting remixes and originals since, taking up several gigs (to the distress of my family!)
I've also experimented with composing using first tracking, and now FL for many years, and have even attempted to make soundtracks for a couple of indie games (which, unfortunately, never got much farther than planning stage). I decided I'd finally join up, though, so I can give and receive feedback on some of my favorite songs.
So, I'll see ya around, and I look forward to hanging out here!

Would you remove your Kirby sig if some folks gave you shit for having it?

Oh, I know the goofy commentary that gets unleashed by some folks. But, the inability of those folks to keep to themselves over the mere mentioning of a game character shouldn't be a deciding sig factor here. Sure, some will do it just to be a smart ass since bashing the game's reached meme-like levels, but a part of me would like to think that the majority of folks here have gotten past the "OMFGROFL U LIEK Ff7!" foolishness by now.

Yes, it's true I am a BIG FFVII fan and yes, I'm a HUGE fan of Sephiroth. If people feel the need to shout random and meaningless anti-FFVII/anti-Sephy banter at me then that just shows how immature they really are and can't keep their own opinions in a decent manner. That said, I dont care if they do that. Just to clarify, I am a girl too XD. And Sorry about my mini-sig below my posts. That was force of habit too but if it's too much I'll stop and not do it anymore. Again, thanks for telling me though ^_^.

Hey everyone. I've posted in a few other places, but I'm still pretty much new to the forums. I'm DJMetal, and I co-host a VGM radio show out of PSU in Portland, Oregon. I've been coming to OCR for about 4 years now, and I've listed to every remix on the site at least once (I know because my iTunes keeps track for me =D), and I'm here to try to get involved in the community. I'm doing this for two reasons: First, I think I've been missing out on some awesome people by not doing the forum thing, and Second: I figured spreading the word about our radio show can't hurt. Especially considering you guys all probably like video game music to begin with.
So...yeah! Here I am. Favorite games include: Metal Gear Solid, GTA: Vice City, Fire Emblem, Advanced Wars, and Xenosaga Ep. 1. Pleasure to be here!

Hi. Victor 'Xenocrates' Luna here.
I've been a fan of OcR for long, VGM represents a large part of my playlists and I've enjoyed a lot of games because of the music rather than the game itself.
I'm down with the creative stuff, like drawing and composing and the like. Though I'm not that much of an expert and remixing, I'm up with self-improvement and will post one or two ideas that I expect you enjoy and help me refine. Thanks and if you need something (like someone to chat with, an opinion or just goof around), think Xenocrates ;D

Morning all. My name's currently RockmanNeo, but that might be subject to change; I'm usually called Rockman or McFadden. I'm 16, from the sunny UK (thanks, global warming!), and while being a long time fan of OCRemix and its remixers, I've only recently gotten into remixing myself, and decided to join the community. A major reason I'm posting now is because I'm near completion of an animation I've been working on for some time. I was going to ask if someone was interested in creating the music for it, but I'm afraid if I do that people would get mad or something. That, and I don't know where to post a thread like that. If you could help me out, please do! Thanks.
Hey, I'd like to submit a few traxx to your project. Granted I don't have anything posted up... and I'm not the most accomplished remixer in here. But I'd love to help. I have a myspace page if you want to hear some of my work even though I do more music production than anything. I figure it may be a good opprotunity to broaden my horizons a bit. My url is myspace.com/tharadikal. Peace mayn..

What's good O.C... I've been a fan of this site for years myself and finally I get to submit some of my own remixes.. Word. So, I tried to upload one this morning, but it says my user id on the forums is required.... So yea, here's the newbie qustion. Where is it, cause I either don't see it or recognize it?... or maybe it's just not there.:| So yea... Bless me with some knowlege great ones. Thanks for having me here too!
Hm. An introductory thread. Ok, I'll give this a shot...
So, hi. I basically joined because I fell in love with some of the remixes in the Thieves of Fate thing. (Of note, I am new, therefore I don't know whether the album is called Thieves of Fate, or Radical Dreamers. If someone could explain it to me, I'd be grateful.)
I'm a fledgeling musician and I figured this would be a good learning experience. I've been playing guitar (bass, acoustic & electric) for two and half years now, played trumpet a long time ago, and have some mild theory knowledge. I also love video games and their music. I particularly enjoy battle music and the soft songs of videogames. My favourite videogame song of all time (at the moment, since I'm fairly oblivious) is Together We Ride from Fire Emblem.
Basically, at the moment, I have to many questions to put in one mere reply, and I don't want to clutter this topic, so if an experienced member would be willing to, for lack of a better word, teach me about the site, remixing and such, I'd appreciate it.
Anyway, I hope to be of use to you guys in the near future.

Well, I'm a long-time listener, first-time caller - er, forum-goer.
I've always loved video game music since I was young. Once I found OCRemix, it was like a godsend. Recently, I've found myself with a moderate amount of free time and a renewed interest in OCR. So, I decided to join the forums.
You can call me Meyichi, or Meyo if you're lazy (that's with an "e," mind you). Some of my favourite series are Mana, Chrono, Final Fantasy, Zelda, and Metal Gear Solid. (A girl that likes MGS?! No way!) I'm about to graduate from high school (another week!) and will be spending a year working before heading off to college. I began playing flute when I was eleven, and switched to oboe a year afterwards. I've been playing oboe since then, but have recently found myself without an instrument! Also play axillary percussion and keyboards as a necessity for marching season at school. So, now the only instrument I have is my voice. :/
So I guess this is where I whore myself out. I would love to do any voice colabs. I can write lyrics, read music, hold a pitch decently enough, etc. I'd really like to get into this. I'll see if I can't try out the remixing side of it later.
So, glad to be here, and nice to meet you. :3
EDIT: Which forum would be the appropriate one for seeking collaborations? I know that there's a section that addresses it in the profile, but I'm not sure where to post a "classified" of sorts. Can anyone help me on this?

Hiya, been listening to OC remix for a long time, but never thought to make a forum account til recently. I'll probably wind up lurking a lot (I have a nasty habit of doing that, I tend to be shy  ), but at least now I can post when I feel like it too ^-^

Hi all!
Ill keep this short cause im lazy :p
I'm a 2nd year uni student in Australia. As well as being a passionate gamer, i enjoy listening to game music and have been doing so for quite some time. Play a bit of piano/ keyboard, particularly enjoy playing pieces by Nobuo Uematsu and Joe Hisaishi.
Look forward to posting here.

Hi everyone, I'm new to the forums too. :)
Truthfully I've been listening to music from OCR since 2001.... That's seven years of being a fan... ^-^;; I kind of feel like I got to watch it grow. But I never joined in the forums since I'm not a musician by any means. I just love video game music. And this is where it is most appreciated. Like Meyichi said, OCR is really a godsend.
So... I guess I'm joining now to celebrate the end of high school? *cheers*
See you guys around. :)

Hey, I'm Gilleece. I have actually been on the forums for a few days [I joined because of interest in the CMC competition and wanted to participate]. I never saw this thread until now though :P.
I am a composer and play Electric bass and bagpipes.I compose in any given style and I am starting to study music full time in college this year. You can check out my pieces at: www.myspace.com/seangilleece . I try to keep my songs on my myspace as varied as possible but seeing as I can only upload 6 I do not have anywhere near all my styles in it.
Hopefully I can be of some benefit to OC Remix in the future.

Hi :)
I've been downloading from this site for a while, and I finally decided to get an account. I'm Ruby, and I play a great number of instruments. I'm best at the cello, but I'm pretty good with the piano, and the penny whistle when the need arises. I'm a decent singer I suppose.
I've been a gamer since I was 2. Zelda was my first passion, and still is my biggest love. I'm not sure what else I should say, so have at it. :)

Hello all:)
Long time listener (5 years or so now? Can't quite remember) and I've decided to take the plunge and join this crazy group of folks. I am a friendly enough person, so feel free to chat me up!
I was a Nintendo diehard my entire life, until a little system called the X-Box 360 came out...and I've since sold and/or given away all other consoles. Fav games include the Burnout series, Psychonauts, and the Metroid Prime Trilogy among many others. Apart from gaming, I love sports (Particularily soccer, badminton and golf) and am a voracious reader. I'm also entering my first year of computer science in University. Oh, and I've no musical talent whatsoever, so sadly, I am restricted to listening to the amazing pieces here. And with that, I will shut up now:razz:
Hope to get to know you all!

Hello to the great people here on OC Remix, I've been a long time lurker and have been listening to the great music on here for several years. There isn't much to say about me, except I like any kind of music except almost all rap/hip-hop. My favorite games are Final Fantasy Tactics advance, Monster Hunter Freedom 2, Star Ocean 3, and Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones. It's doubtful I'll ever post anything else, but I'm glad to be here all the same. Oh, and my favorite OC Remix album is probably Project Chaos.

Hi, everyone! I've been a listener for quite a while now, occasionally browsing the forums now and then as well. I finally decided to make an account here, as I've been wanting to get into making some arrangements myself. I don't have a whole lot of experience under my belt, so I thought the WIP forums seemed like a great way to get some feedback for whatever projects I might be working on. I'm a hip-hop musician, so most of the music I post will probably have that sort of vibe to it. Anyhow, I hope to get to know the community in time, so I'll see you all around!

Hi all!
Since long time I'm listen to musics of this site (like lots of people), it's time to speak with the OCRemix's community, right?
So... I'm called Loyi or Guile, mostly Zarmakuizz. It is true that it is a strange name...
I am 18, I live in Antibes... Yes, I am french. Antibes is in south of France.
I'm bad in english, of course. So, never speak me in french, I need to use english easily. However, if anyone want a training in french, I accept to speak french just in private (msn, private messages...)
The last remix I love is made by Darkesword, for a music of Metroid Prime 3. I don't have the game, but it's wonderful. I have listen to many musics of Darkesword, so I think that it's quite normal.
Recently I saw that there are only two musics for Pokémon, it's few... I would like to make a remix, but it's more a dream than anything else... why not? I can try...
I write like a quiche? Thanks to tell me what is false!
See ya!
PS: I use Google Translator for just 5 words... It's true! Next time, I hope I don't need it.

Hey, I have listened to a few of the remixes and they are realy good. :) I play a decent amount of video games but am not addicted to them like some. I do play the piano but have never realy got ahold of composing at all yet. I thought that this was a good spot to start "composing," even though it is just revising another's work it is almost the same thing. I thought I might just introduce myself here before I just jumped out and started doing things. I am mainly a sony and nintendo player since I don't have an Xbox or 360. So ya. : )

Hi! I've been listening to the song here for a while and figured I'd join the forums. I listened to a lot of the works in progress, and there's some pretty good stuff down there. I'm a big fan of Megaman games, as well as Sonic and Kirby. That's pretty much it for now!

Hi everyone, long time OCR visitor and listener here, I've been keeping tabs on most submissions for about 4-5 years now, I never really got around to signing up online until this point 8-O
Thankfully that's all changed and I'm ready to become a productive member of society!
I have no remixing practice and no immediate plans to get involved in making my own submissions, but it is a distinct possibility in the future. Some of my favourite soundtracks stem from the first major system I owned, the NES.
Some of my favourite classic game soundtracks would be Final Fantasy (most games up to 11, generally most Uematsu tracks), Super Mario 2, most of the original Bun Bun megaman soundtracks, and Mechwarrior 2, TIE Fighter, and various other pc games.
I look forward to getting involved in threads in the future rather than just reading the discussions!

Hi everyone. You've probably heard the story before, a friend showed me the website, I listened to the remixes everyone else was doing, and decided to try it out myself. Whatever.
I'm a big tactics game fan, so games like ffta and fire emblem. I like metroid games, and castlevania, starcraft, a lot of final fantasy games, in the groove, UT 2004, soul calibur... the list goes on.
I have played the piano since i was little, and i took up trumpet in grade school. i haven't done much for composing, but i've done enough to get started. So that's what i'll do.

Hey there everyone! I'm a long time fan of OCR, but I only recently figured I'd join the forums. I can't say for sure how much I'll be around, but I figured I'd at least register and have a looksie around.
Anyway, as you can probably guess I'm a big gamer. I'd classify myself as something like a Nintendo fanboy/RPG enthusiast who also likes Mega Man and other various bits of this and that.
Although I have plenty of ideas as far as games/tracks that should be remixed, I don't actually have the musical talent or equipment to actually remix myself (plus I'm a total cheapskate, so it'd be hard to justify buying anything like that), so I can't help anyone out on that account.
As for other stuff about me, I'm 18 and will be going to college in a month or so, so age-wise I think I'll fit in just fine. I live in Wisconsin and geographically that's all I'm saying in the interest of privacy. I'm typically pretty laid back and easy-going and I hate drama and conflict (civil debate is okay, but I tend to shy away from controversy typically), so it's doubtful I'll be starting any flame wars or anything of that sort.
Anyway, I think that's it for the time being. I'll ask around if I have any other questions, and feel free to ask me anything you want to know about me.

Hey OC Community,
Nice to finally be a registered member after considering it for a while! I've been a regular visitor for a few years and I'm interested in working on my own stuff and with other artists.
I've just finished a degree at university in Media Studies and Music (Sonic Arts) and am also an international-level barbershop singer (if you know what that is ;) )
Anyway, haven't figured out how to do everything yet so i'd better get back to it.
Great to be a part of the community,

Hey guys, I'm new to the forums here though I've been visiting ocremix for a few years now. Recently I discovered the streaming radio ormgas and it has resparked my love for vg music.
I spent a good 20 minutes searching the forum for the answer to this question but unfortunately I couldn't find it. I'm sure this is a very old and tired question but why the 6 mb limit?
Could someone point me to a thread that's explained this or perhaps rehash it for me?
Thanks!

its basically just a matter of the hosting as far as i know
if there was a larger limit or no limit hosting could get pretty ridiculous
also they dont want songs to be tooooooo long
remixers are also free to release higher bitrate versions or loseless versions of their mixes in whatever matter they see fit, it just wont get hosted on this site

Hey folks! I've decided to finally join into the forum of OCR, as I've been going to this place for about a year, maybe two or three. I'm not sure, although i can tell you right now my computer has about 3 to 4 gigs of OCR (I am that bad. Don't worry, I do listen to non-video game music as well).
Although i don't do any form of music myself, I do hope to lend some criticism and support, and perhaps explore other possibilities, that could be helpful or just fun XD.

Salutations, I'm pitseleh. I'm from Minnesota, USA. I've been playing piano for about 10 years and guitar for 4 now, as well as playing around and knowing the basics and a little more on various other instruments. I've been writing music for about 5-6 years now, and I've never really given much thought to remixing anything before, but I've been listening to the work hosted here and it has sparked my interest. For software I generally use Sonar Cakewalk, but am slowly working on familiarizing myself with Reason better. I hope to make some great contributions to the site, and I look forward to getting to know you all around the boards.

Hi OCR folks:
My name is Paulie and I have been part of a very interesting project for the last 4 yrs. called The AC Thundertones. It is an INTERNET ONLY band where my brother and I wanted to see how far we could go with the band and it's music on the internet ONLY. (No live gigs, etc.)
The results have been amazing. We've sold over 14,000 downloads of our signature tune called MISSIN YOU and have won a ton of awards at garageband.com and more recently placed first in Blues for the month of June at Ourstage.com which is fast becoming our favorite site.
Anyway, we wanted to say hi and let you guys know what we're about and who we are and that we welcome any suggestions or feedback. If you want to check us out go to Ourstage.com and type our band name into the searchbar OR go to our main band site at: http://www.freewebs.com/thealbanycountythundertones/
Thanks and have a great day.

I too use SONAR but I'm using the Producer Edition 5. Great software there as it has the tremendous convolution reverb which is a brilliant way to use reverb and effects. Not simply adding an effect to an existing sound, but actually putting your existing sound into a SPACE" which is very cool. You can even put your say, Guitar sound into another instrument like a cymbal. Then it takes the cymbal and guitar's matching sound data and throws that out the window. THEN it takes the cybal and guitar's Non-matching data, combines the two and the result is a guitar playing inside the SPACE of a cymbal!! One can come up with some very cool, wierd but totally NEW effects this way. Plus the 5th SONAR Producer edition runs in 64 bit sound engine and has these cool new folders that automatically take say, ALL your drum tracks. I usually have 10-12 tracks for my drum set to have each cymbal and drum track independently of one another. This way I can do great separation and panning, efffects, etc. The new folders automatically recognize the drums and puts them ALL inside this neat little folder called "Drums" and it saves tons of desktop space AND CPU space, as the folders operate as ONE track even though they hold 12 separate one's when opened.
Alas, technology being fast as it is they've already come up with version 6 and 7!! My brother bought version 6. Get this!! You can quantize ANALOG with this version. No more having to replay, or depend on recording MIDI ONLY analog instruments like guiatrs, basses, etc. You can play and record to your hearts content not having to worry about the in human nature of midi quantization wrecking your solos. NOW, if you goof on say some notes in your guitar or sax solo you can quantize it in analog mode! Very cool.
I still use my OLD WAVELAB 4 for all Mastering work though. I know, there's tons of newer programs but the WAVELAB 4 version is the most easy to use mastering software I've ever use AND it has pretty much ANYTHING one would want in mastering. The only thing I Do want to upgrade on is some newer vst effects and sfz files. Other than that, I'm staying with this version. We've used SONAR 5 and Wavelab 4 for ALL The AC Thundertones music and the results have given us a farily signature "sound" that we've been looking for.
Well my friend, thanks for your reply and I humbly ask anyone here at OCR for any help or tips for game music writing as I am going to try and get into this soon. I appreciate any help anyone can give and if I can I will help anyone as well if I can with recording or music writing etc.
Later on OCR and thanks for your time.

Hello all!
I've been an aspiring remixer since I first got onto the site in the latter part of 2000. I stumbled upon it looking for original video game music...only I discovered something so much better. I don't know why it has taken me so long to register on this site, but I finally have. I have referred and introduced well over 100 people to the site during high school with various club functions that provided music for. Many people enjoy my taste in music, so I, of course, have introduced them to OCR (one of the staples of my playlists). I was on ormgas and their chats and forums for quite some time before my dad had his heart attack, at which point I completely dropped out. I'll probably be pretty active on these forums now, so expect to see a lot more of me!
Peace,

By the way, my old monikers on the site include predator4149 and predator4147. I made those long ago. And yes, as Liontamer once told me on ormgas, my current moniker is really lame but...I still like it. I have more original ones but...this is just me now. I've been using it for various things for years...and I like it...so yea.

I've been lurking here and listening to the ormgas stream on and off for a few years, but I've never taken the time to register. I mostly have been trying to catch up on listening to the original game tracks posted on zophar and snesmusic before moving on to the remixes. Of the 45000+ original game tracks I have cued up in Winamp (leaving the nsf/nsfe files non-expanded and with many other console games' music in one file per game), I'm up to 40508 tracks listened to over the last handful of years. Then again, I've not updated my list with new rips in the last 2 1/2 years, so I'll have a bit more catching up to do after I finally finish listening to what I have.
Anyway, I digress. I listen to the ormgas stream when I'm bored with hearing the original songs once in a while (especially the more obscure 8-bit ones). Don't get me wrong - I dig a lot of 8-bit tracks that hit my nostalgic button, but most 8-bit music pales even in comparison to the 16-bit era, ie the awesome SNES.
Err, sidetracked again. What I really wanted to get out is that I finally registered after hearing a track that struck me enough to finally think of a good comment to post. Be seeing ya all.

Hey everyone. New to the forums.
Found this site via TV Tropes, and am quite glad I did.
Considering doing some remixing, however I was wondering if Rosegarden for Linux would be an aright program ta use for the Remixing(Linux User). That, and i have to factor in College life.
Otherwise I love the music here, most particular the Sonic the hedgehog remixes.
Hope everyone's havin' an interesting day (Much like myself, tho I hope it ends soon 0_0 )

Greetings to all.
Well, unfortunately, I'm not much of a remixer myself. I'm more of an original composer, but I'm pretty slow at the moment as I can't work technology... I have a copy of FL Studio 8, GPO and no idea on how to make it work. All the tutorials out there just confuse me. Erk.
Anyway, my musical journey has been quite a varied one. I've always found popular stuff to be a bit boring, and I've also found traditional classical to be more boring. So I didn't really listen to music, but then I came across this game. It was TimeSplitters4- don't ask why this one, because even I don't know- and as I was playing through some of the levels, I thought, "Hmm, there's some pretty good music in here". From then on, well, I started to pay more attention to the soundtracks of games and movies that I saw. Now I'm hooked.
Someday I'd like to be a great composer for video games. My dream is to score a load of anime shows. It's some ambition.
Thanks and great to be here,
Andy

Well, that was confusing. Never seen a forum before that puts newest posts on the first page and later posts on the last.
Hello all. Name's Sparafucile (not really), just registered here obviously, but my first experience with OC Remix goes way back... back when I was still pretty new to downloading mp3s, I was looking for Chrono Trigger stuff when I downloaded one called Revival Day Impoetus by some bloke named djpretzel. Can't say I fell in love. In fact, I was kind of annoyed since I was looking for CT stuff and this song I downloaded sounded next to nothing like something from the game. But I never deleted the song, and it's grown on me over the years. Over that time till now I managed to snag a few more songs from the site through file sharing programs but never actually visited the site.
Anyways, so I randomly visited a few days ago and looked for some Radical Dreamers (which is pretty much the best song ever IMO) from Chrono Cross remixes... heard pixie's version... went 8O... then downloaded her and zircon's Kindred... went :shock:...
it's then that I realized how much talent people could have without being a big part of the recording industry.
Not much to say about me. Musically, I've played piano for quite a while, on and off for the past 10-15 years. Guitar extremely casual for 5 or 6 years. I was a band geek in high school, where played the euphonium, and three-valved trombone in my jazz band. I like games. Super Metroid, Chrono Cross, Xenogears, Metal Gear Solids, Final Fantasy, Harvest Moon, Mario... I'm not particularly picky when it comes to games.
So hey. *salutes*

*poke* Hi guys! I'm actually a long time lurker, but decided to register over here now that VGMix isn't getting a lot of attention from it's coders anymore, or so it seems. The name's Michael, but almost everywhere on the net I'm known as BorgMan.
I'm a decent Star Trek fan (no Klingon greetings, Vulcan mindfucks or Romulan Ale from me). I do, however, specialise in making it's ships, and ocasionally I read fanfics. I'm a longtime OCR listener, trying to get others hooked up to it as well. This, however, has resulted more than once in a shoe against the back of my head ;) I usually stick to the likes of Sonic, Zelda and that sort games, but sometimes I stroll off my path because a song cought my attention; FZero has been one such lately. I don't really play games (save for a RA2 game here and there), and plan on getting a Wii when I get the oppurtunity to get one (poor student, food > Wii).
Soooooo... Where's the closest beer? ^_^

Greetings from the Rocky Mountains of Colorado.
Been a lurker here for a while as well, and finally felt the urge sign up and join in. I love most things music, but lean towards the breaks n' bass n' goodies side of things when it comes to electronic stuff. Trying to produce my own music but it's hard, and I'm a perfectionist far too much to a fault.
Looking forward to good times, sharing some tuneage, and maybe attending the occasional all-night virtual keg party.
Cheers,
-SC

I've been a lurker here for quite a while. I just came back here for "Broken mirror reflection", again.
I simply love this site. I keep coming back again and again, whenever a calamity falls on my pc and I lose some songs. This happens quite regularly. I download these songs again and again and some more which I didn't download last time. Now I don't know how many copies of the same songs I have.
I've a suggestion, if you don't mind. A yearly compilation of best of oc remixes would be great. 10 or 12 songs published in the same year.
And a best of all time album.
I suggest "Broken mirror reflection" for the all time best album.
Ciao! Until the next time!

It seems odd to me that all these introductions are saved for a single thread that likely nobody reads, however I will comply.
I have been listening to Overclocked Remix for I'd say 2 years give or take. I joined the forums in order to share my songs and get feedback, and talk about nerdy things pertaining to video games and music production. I've been playing piano for about two years, self taught. I'm not that great, nor do I have delusions of grandeur, but I try. I hope to get some of my arrangements posted on OCR some day.
In any case, nice to meet you all.

Hi all!
I've been a lurker on OCR for several years now. The first song I downloaded was "Mega Man 3 BlueLightning" by Disco Dan, and I've been checking it out periodically ever since. I was never an active member of the community, but now for some reason I feel like it's finally the time to join up.
I've tried my hand at a couple of remixing projects in the past, but they've never really turned out well. In fact, they were pretty terrible. But I still love listening to the good ones, which thankfully are plentiful on OCR.
I'm currently a co-host on a video game podcast called "Gamers Only Older" or "Welcome to the Goo."
I'm definitely an RPG junkie, especially Final Fantasy and the Chronos.

Hey ppl !
Names Shane, (Shano) from Australia, Sydney. 22 years of age.
Just joined not long ago, my mate told me about this site and how it was related to remixing game music.
ATM i just focus on final fantasy stuff, and do ambient chillout / instrumental remixes using cubase, fruity and currently learning logic.
Im studying tech sound production & engineering (advanced diploma). I also enjoy my part time DJing and writing music. Spending time with mates & getting my drink on.
You can find more about me here: www.myspace.com/garyafterlife (http://www.myspace.com/garyafterlife) for my trance and chillout, and my hardcore productions are here: www.myspace.com/electrixsounds (http://www.myspace.com/electrixsounds)
I'll be uploading some mixes soon,

Hey there, My name's Mark. I'm 20 years old and live in Dallas, Texas. A few years ago, a friend from highschool showed me this site and I've been in love with it ever since. I've always wanted to try my hand at making a mix, and it seems like I finally have the money/time to start. I've been playing piano for years, lessons at first but now I just teach myself. I'll be purchasing a keyboard and some software really soon, though I'm not quite sure what to get.
If you name a videogame, I've probably beaten it several times. Moreover, if you hum the first three notes to any videogame song I could tell you what it was. I love videogame music so much it feels like a crime that I haven't tried to mix anything yet.
I don't really know what I'm doing, but I'm tired of saying "I'll do it eventually." I just hope someday I can join the ranks of OCRemixers.
Thanks for all the music,
Mark Casper

Hey all. Wasn't sure exactly where I should post this, but I wanted to say hello to everyone, and let folks know that I would love to work with people on their remixes! I'm a male singer, so if anyone ever needs some singing done, I'd really like to start getting involved in this community! (been listening for a long time, and just started doing stuff on the board - forums scare me usually)
Anyways, for some samples of how my voice sounds, I have a (dreaded) Myspace account with my singing on it.

I'm not much of a forum person, as you can tell from my low post count, but I'm just letting all you doods know that I'm still supporting this site 100% (and have been for the past 8 years or so). Every e-mail I've gotten concerning new remix projects (such as the new one, Doom II: Delta Q Delta), I have done everything it said to promote it as much as possible. I don't frequent the site too often to download new remixes because I'm a torrent guy and I just wait till a new torrent comes about. I've bought two shirts from the site as well and I where them whenever they're clean (heh heh...). Just explaining my absence (even though no one here even knows who I am, XP). Keep up the good work remixer doods! I always look forward to new stuff. ^_^

Hey everyone. My name is Jason. Finally registered for the site seeing as I can finally start posting some things. as this semester I've begun classes in MIDI technology and music theory. (last year I was a marine biology major, go figure)
Been listening to OCRemix for some time and it actually helped me choose my current major at college! But all that aside, I am excited to meet you all and welcome any tips and support you might have.
Feel free to contact me on AIM-jayhenry1211 or msn. (same thing @hotmail ((jayhenry1211@hotmail.com)) )

Hello everyone.
My name's Jordan. I'm from Ontario, Canada, and I've had an increasing interest in music and video games over the years. I'm 18 years old and currently returning to high school for a semester, but I hope to go to university for writing, both English and Music.
I've had FL Studio for a long while, as well as Guitar Pro 5. I've been randomly writing things every now and then, and I even throw in a remix of game music here and there. I'm definitely not a pro. Not even close. But I'm not a complete beginner, either. It's my dream to one day be a composer, whether it be my own solo music, symphonic music, or video game music. I'm really leaning towards video game music, though.
Anyways, that's my introduction. I hope to learn some cool new things here, and maybe make something of my own to submit one day.
*EDIT - Oh, I suppose I can list some of my favourite games that act as an influence to me.
Basically, it's as follows:
- Sonic the Hedgehog games
- Mega Man games
- Mario games
- Zelda games
Sonic and Mega Man are probably my main influence.

About five years ago I heard Bladiator's "Oh, Say Can Yoshi" mix on The Mushroom Kingdom online radio. After a bit of research, I found OCR and decided to tune in. I guess I finally signed up in the hopes of submitting a remix or two. Maybe in the near future...
Anyway, this site is great. I think I listen to OC remixes more than "real" music... is that weird? Keep up the good work, djpretzel, et al.

I... I'm just a guy. I'd like to say that I'm majoring in musical awesome, or that I just got some spiffed out mixing program... or that I'm just a sweet deal, but all these things would be fabrications. And according to Baltasar Gracian, "A single lie destroys a whole reputation for integrity." ...okay, okay, I just googled a quote about lies trying to make it sound like I was a sweet deal.
No luck eh? Oh well.
I joined because I've been listening to OCR ReMixes for the past 4 years about, and I started checking for ReMixes every couple of days and stuff, so I decided I might as well make a profile and post a message in the noob zone.
I just got Audiosurf a bit ago, and with all these awesome VG arrangements at my fingertips Audiosurf has become the never ending game. You could play a new song everyday for over 4 straight years!!! Free of charge! (minus the cost of the game, your electric bill, your ISP fees, ect.) If that's not a sweet deal, what is? (Ignore the last set of parenthesis and all within it's unholy walls) So yeah. My moniker on Audiosurf is Gunstarhero... as well as in all games on Steam. XD. If anybody ousts me from one of my high score (or more likely, low score) spots, and is a member of this site, send me a message :D.
P.S. All spelling and grammatical errors were intentional... ummmm... yeah.

Well, I've listened to some of the OCRemix library for years, I'm particularly fond of "Bowzer is Pissed" by PriZm, but I have also listened to a variety of tracks from the library, mostly from back in the 16bit era consoles.
I may be new to this forum, but I'm not actually new to forums, I've been a member of Emuv2 (Now 3Roms) for a couple of years now, yes its an emulation site, but I dont pirate games myself, I just enjoy the community there.
I'm a gamer at heart, owning all of the sony consoles, excluding pocketstation, and before that, being a dedicated sega fanboy despite only owning a Genesis (Megadrive, here where I'm from)
I'm not a Mixist, or musician myself, but I'm willing to learn, however I do get frustrated quickly, and blunt criticizm may cause me to reply in an unfriendly fashion.
I am what I call a casual graphical artist, in that I know photoshop skills, and if I put my mind to it, I can make something half decent, but I dont have the time nor patience to make anything big, in the end, all it will amount to is nice looking signature pictures.
So, I may hang around, but then again, I am particular to flights of fancy, so I may end up forgetting. Here's hoping I dont though.

Sup all. I'm a new Mixer. Submitted a song. Not to sure if it'll make the cut... compared to most of the works on here mine may as well be mince meat.
Hopefully DJPretzel and the rest can give good advice on how I can step up my game. Basically my dream is to become a Game Dev... in any area I possibley can. Music, programming, scripting, moddeling... and yes even Mo capping.
as of now I'm training in my ability to create music. Working on remastering other's works, and making my own.
To listen to what i have done thus far, check out my Freewebs website. There are a few songs that I'd like to keep to myself, and not have a publication on it.

I play a lot of games, not so many new ones, but I'm working on that.
Gradually making the effort to play the x360 that had been laying around for the past year and a half.
I won't argue about anything. It's not that I am afraid to lose or anything, losing is ultimately inevitable. Just the fact that this is the internet and I don't care for boosting some kids ego for the "lulz."
Aight, that is a decent introduction, considering.
Oh, and I like making me some music.
I range from anything I can do with Reason or FL to *rarely* playing drums or bass for fun.
Though I should probably do one of those more. ;x

I found out about this site years ago, but only came on off and on to see new remixes every couple of months (I'd get distracted with other things XD).
Anyways, I just recently registered myself on the forums basically to get to know people who have the same interests I do: video games, music, and the combination of the two. I've been playing video games since I discovered Sonic the Hedgehog back when I was 5 and have been into music almost as long. I started playing piano when I was 6 years old and I can still play somewhat (I haven't been practicing ^_^"), but I'm better at clarinet which I started to play when I was 11 or so. I've got a good grasp of theory as well as some orchestration though I'm still learning.
I don't have access to any programs or equipment to record or remix anything currently, but I would like to look into it eventually. If you need any clarinet in your remix (very rare I'm sure), I'm more than willing to throw something in. I do play the instrument proficiently :P. That's about it for me. I'll be around.

10-10-2008, 08:01 PM
Hey all, I'm Phayre. I've been a fan of the remixes here for quite some time and am interested in learnng how to mix up my own, given my affection for more obscure games and their music (Tales of Destiny, especially . . . ah, so sad). I also play a good deal of more well-known games, and listen to tons of video game music in addition to the metal, JROCK, dance, and other oddness that takes up more of my hard drive than I care to admit. Favorites include Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow, various Final Fantasy games, Fire Emblem, Soul Calibur, Jackal, and the original Genesis Sonic games. I'm 19 and I'm a photography student, hoping to get into either advertising or journalism. I'm also interested in anime, manga, RPG Maker, and video games, but it's not a huge obsession anymore (unless we're talking about X, in which case all bets are off). Musically, I took piano lessons for a year, but got really bored with it because I prefer playing by ear to reading sheet music. This probably makes me a poser. Feel free to PM me or whatever; I'm pretty friendly.

Aight, so...I've been lurking around this site since about 2003-2004 or so. I guess I'm "new" in that no one here knows me, but I'm not entirely new to how stuff works, etc. I figured, since I'm a huge fan of the music, and would one day love to contribute myself, I should probably get an account since...y'know, that would make sense.
Quick facts:
- I currently live in Tampa, Florida, although I'm originally from around Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
- I moved to Tampa in Fall 2007 to attend the University of South Florida for Computer Science and Physics (yes, it sounds like it hurts, and sometimes it does).
- I have professional experience in web design, graphic design, programming, various IT things, and soccer refereeing (yeah, odd, I know).
- My DAW of choice is FL Studio...bought it way back when FL4 came out and am currently running FL8 on XP Pro running through VirtualBox on my Ubuntu laptop (8.10 comes out in 5 days!! wooo!!)
- When I started making music, I preferred trance as my main style...although I've grown rather bored of making it (though it's still fun to listen to it!). Now, I'd say I'm working towards a weird rock/electronica hybrid style.
- I do not, in my opinion, "play an instrument", although I am vaguely familiar with the piano, ocarina, violin, and guitar...my proficiency dwindling as you reach the end of that list.
- My favorite tracks typically come from games that had an impact on my childhood. Kirby Superstar's soundtrack, for example, is unforgettable because I played that game to death. However, I also enjoy tracks that I think are exceptionally creative. The Okami soundtrack has quite a few examples.
And...I think that should be it. If anyone needs me, I should be lurking around the ReMix section looking for samples and guidance. You can also contact me via AIM (sneachtuil) or email (alsandair [at] sneachtuil [dot] com).
See you around!

Hey. I'm new to OCR. Just discovered it semi-recently... Well, only started really browsing it semi-recently.
Anyways, I have a remix I will be submitting soon, as well as one in-progress, but other than that, I don't really do remixing haha.
I'm glad to find this place, there's a lot of awesome material here. I hope to get more or less active soon, this place has a lot to take in, especially for someone wanting to submit something =O

Hello people of OCR. I really enjoy video game music, especially remixes. Been on Ormgas a lot lately(up to 100h since september), and I've started remixing a bit myself. I can't say I'm even close to any remixers like The Wingless, djpretzel and the like, but I think the remix I just done is decent.
Anyway, glad to be part of this geeky community as another proud geek. =P

Hey, guys, I'm Spoons. All my life, I've been a great admirer of video game music and those who write it, but until the day I discovered the Internet, I didn't know I wasn't the only one who felt that way. My first encounter with remixed videogame music was VGmusic, which I still visit from time to time. It blew my mind that there were people out there who felt the same way. Then, a friend told me about OverClocked Remix. It was like discovering VGmusic all over again, and let me tell you, it was great.
I've been a fan of the fine people at OCR for a few years now. It never really occured to me to join the forums, until I registered for MAGFest VII and decided it might be a good idea to get in touch with some fellow enthusiasts and maybe get to know some of the remixers I admire so much.
Glad to be here, finally, and hoping to get to know you all soon.

Hello, I am The_Mighty_KELP. I've been lurking around OCR for years, without ever bothering to create an account or do any forum posting. I've always been incredibly interested in the remixes on the site, though, and I've been noticing that many of the non-djpretzel reviews don't really say anything much. They might just say "I liked it", but they often don't go into any detail. I have created my account so that I may give some more detailed feedback from my position as a prominent musician and music-lover. Thanks!

Hey, OCR. I've been a long-time lurker (since late '04 or early '05) and registered in '06 under the name Artemis Winter. I just recently did a collaboration with Xaleph over at AnimeRemix and decided to pay a visit back to my roots; so I made a new account under the standard name I go by and release under.
I'm a vocalist rather than a remixer, happy to work with anyone with good ideas, and looking forward to lurking a little less lurk-tastically these days. :P
Duokun
11-01-2008, 04:48 PM
Hey everyone. I'm Duokun (I would prefer the alias Duo, but it's taken or too short). My real name is Alex(ander) Ku. I've been lurking OCR ever since I knew what video games were (so I obviously haven't been around for that long).
OCR really helps me relive the awesome memories I've had with all the video games that I've played and have been remixed here. It's absolutely beautiful how good all the remixers are (props guys!)
I recently picked up FL studio and plan on learning it over summer 2009, and I hope to pick up some OCR worthy skills in remixing about a year or two afterwards. There are so many songs out there I want to see remixed that are probably in the process right now, but I would just love to see them done (this ain't the thread to be asking for 'em though).
If I were to live off of only two things I've learned so far, those two things would be "Want something? Well then go get it yourself!" and "Losing is the first step to winning." Hopefully that will be able to apply to my rise to the status of "OCR Remixer" one day.
But until then, peace!
P.S. djpretzel, those vocals you did for that Lunar song were AMAZING. :)

Hi, a friend of mine that I take music classes with told me about this site so I thought I'd check it out. This seems like a really cool place with a lot of friendly people. Here's some music I've made if you're interested in listening:

http://www.myspace.com/ivolterock
http://www.myspace.com/shwabangs

I think one of my favorite video game compositions are many of the works from Secret of Mana. Oh, and bomberman (64) was very catchy also. I think this is where I really was drawn into electronic music. I feel like a kid again going back to my roots.
Hiya! You can call me Yuna.
I'm a long time lurker who decided to sign up a few weeks ago. I'm kinda shy though so I probably won't be posting much.
OCR has redefined my taste in music and video games in general. I love it so much. I want to do a remix one day though who knows if that'll ever happen.
Later!

I am sad to most of the posters that post in this thread not migrate to the other portions of the forums :(
They are like one hit wonders. One post and they disappear.
This trend must end!

Hello, I’m new here. Well, kind of. I’ve been appreciating this site remixes for a long time, and I’m going to add my input on the remixes from now on. Please check my Paper Mario request, it is a great game without a single remix to represent. Thanks for all the remixers for their fabulous work.

Hello, people.
Greetings.
Obviously, I'm new here. Not so obviously, I've been listening to game remixes for a long time, from ocremix, remix.kwed.org, and others. I've been in the music arena for a long time, both with original compositions and remixes, but I haven't considered making a living from it; I'd rather not starve. That said, I probably spend too much time doing music and sound engineering in general.
I've heard some fantastic remixes on the site, so I'm hoping that my contributions will be of the same calibre. Contributions, however, will not be all the frequent given that I tend to spread myself a little thin with multiple projects. My own fault, I know, but variety is the spice of life, and I like having my finger in various pies, cakes, puddings, and even the occasional profiterole.
Anyway, my debut on the site is a submission of an oldie, and frankly one that I'm very surprised hasn't featured on the site yet: Galaga. Let's hope the judging panel like it.
Ooroo.

Hi, my name's David, and I'm an alcoholic. Wait, am I in the right place?
BTW you old folks are creepy in a grandma/endearing sort of way... keep you at arm's length to avoid pinching or any other nonsense.
Hi.
I'm new-ish here, but I'm a longtime fan of ocremix.
I've always liked video game soundtracks in general,
but one day I just happened to trip over this site a couple of years ago and am just now participating in the forums.

Hi there everyone! Just thought i'd stick my $0.02 in for the introduction thread! :D
I prefer to go by Tsukasa, so if you would like to call me that instead of 'the scar in the twilight' :D then yeah, have at it.
Anywho, one of your members on the OC community (Theory of Nonexistence , AKA ToN) introduced me to the site and I'm gonna see what I can contribute! Anyway, I'll see you all on the IRC channel soon enough! Happy remixing!

How y'all doin'? Just wanted to say hello. New to the site, just registered as I found the Conceptual Music competition and it seems right up my alley. I am a producer, composer, IT nerd. Not so much into the games, although I do quite fancy a round of Gran Turismo Prologue on my PS3 from time to time. I frequent a couple of other sites, DJMC and A4U mainly.
Look forward to hearing some great tunes from this place and hopfully submitting a track for the next CMC. :)

Hay guise!
I'm not technically new here, as I joined a few years back, but I haven't been on the forums or done much of anything involving OCR since then, so I've decided to reintroduce myself.
When I originally came here I was writing music in Anvil Studio, and was a silly 14 year old. Now I'm a pro 16 year old using Fruity Loops Studio, heh. Definitely.
Anyways, hay etc., and I was wondering if there is anywhere I could post non-ReMixes to get legitimate feedback on them (Most probably outside of OC). I haven't worked up to writing any ReMixes yet, or at least anything I would want anybody to hear. As everyone here probably has many times more experience than me, I would like to wait a bit before attempting anything, and I would like to know where I am at. Thanks.
And hay again.

Wow, 2 more ontarians! :)
Andruith - There's a few places around for that... you could try www.djmixcontest.com (http://www.djmixcontest.com), or acapellas4u.co.uk, they are really remix sites but lots of folk on there are into producing and composing.

Hi, hello, and how do you do? I'm Ushikuma, a first time poster but long time gamer. I've always enjoyed the themes composed for games and after finishing any title, if anything, its the musical score that I remember most fondly. I don't have much experience in remixing but would like to learn more about it and any helpful tools/programs applicable.
