Australia continues to get the short end of the stick. (http://www.smh.com.au/news/wireless--broadband/the-great-price-byte/2007/07/23/1185043035992.html)
In Paris, $50 buys a 24 Mb/s connection with unlimited downloads and unlimited VoIP. Japanese customers pay $45 a month for more than 50 Mb/s with unlimited downloads. Telstra Bigpond's $49.95 ADSL plan is a 1.5 Mb/s connection with a mere 400 MB of downloads. (Prices in AUD)
Hardly seems fair to me. How much do you guys pay and what do you get for your money?

Comcast, $33/mo for 6 Mb/s, bundled with $33 digital cable TV. Rates will go up to $50-55 after 12 months. America is not much better :/

look at how many people there are per square mile in each area and look at fixed costs then ask whether or not it's fair.

Fastest I can even get is 768 Kbps. Where I used to live, there was only dial-up.

At my house, we pay around $46 USD a month for 6mbps from AT&T.
It is yumz.

$40 for a measly 3 megs. Of course, our infrastructure is beyond fucked.

Our current FCC commissioner is not helping. Leave it to Bush to nominate someone pro-special interests.

"wah wah 1.5mbps" this, "boohoo 768kbps" that.

Shut your bleeding traps. When you're stuck living in the middle of the god damn sticks and the best you've got is 50.6kbps, and that's on a good day, THEN you can bitch about your internets. But until then, die in a righteous fire.

:-( :<

Move. You're like a desert nomad complaining about a lack of water.

I get 24Mbps for roughly $44 (but it's really just 8 because of the distance to the "phone station").

a mere 400 MB of downloadsThat company wouldn't get a single subscriber in Sweden. What use is broadband if you use up your monthly quota within the hour? Afaik there's no limit on any of the Swedish isp's. I think my brother downloaded 8 gigs of stuff just yesterday.

Yeah, both my grandparents and a friend of mine have a 400Mb dl limit. Sucks to be them.
I have 1.5mbit and 15Gb dl limit. It's the best available in my area- dad picked it cos it bundles internet, landline and mobile phone bills into one... so I'm not sure about the pricing but he allegedly gets a 'discount'.

Verizon
-At work so I'll edit this message when I get home with the speed info... I do remember though I'm just paying around $29.99 with unlimited download (seriously torrenting about 15gbs as of now nonstop :P)

I'm happy though as I'm able to torrent while playing EVE or FEAR Combat with no slowdowns.

I also like to give a big FUCK YOU to Comcast for providing shitty services. :)!!

To avoid any possible flame war on IPs emerging from here, I just didn't like Comcast after a few months with them; lets leave it at that.

I used to have comcast's ridiculously expensive premium cable which was like 8Mb down, 512k up or something. It served me well enough, since I didn't have to pay for it.

Currently:
Stealing wireless from someone within the apartment complex. Pretty fast. More importantly I live directly across the street from my university and their internet is ridiculous. yay for stealing!
