DCI: Drum Corp international championships

Today Was the championships for DCI. It was a long day but the corps performed extremely well. Blue Devils got first. Anybody else go or follow this event?

My band director went to it, wish I coulda gone. I went to the competition at Stanford last weekend and the Cadets got first in that one, even though I thought BD was better, but whatever. I didn't like the Mandarins' show mainly because I've had to conduct to the one song that was part of their show, but other then that I loved all of the shows.

I don't really like the type of show the Cadets were doing. But for that type they did a good job. The Cavaliers didn't match up to last years.

The Scouts were so miserably bad that the Academy beat them in there first year as a D1 corps.

I'm impressed at the way corps like Phantom and Blue Coats are starting to jump back into the game in recent years.

its last years Cavaliers show. There is very little up yet for this year. Then again you can watch it all on september 5 on ESPN 2, but they hack out the openers.

I haven't kept up with DCI for the past two years.

I typically like the shows that use material that I'm already familiar with (like the 2005? Cavies 007 show). But I usually fall asleep during a lot of the original shows (like the 2004? Cavies show that was about a fire or something).

Cavs 2006 performance was pretty awesome. Some may say it's not the best, but even if it isn't, those are some extremely epic formations and choreography.
