Brad Derrick works for Mythic on the Warhammer MMO. He composes demos on his 1 hour drive to work, using a MIDI controller and laptop hooked up to his car stereo. Then he creates a glorified demo to ultimately be used for a live orchestra, with the exception of percussion as he reveals that most of it these days is in fact not real.

Great watch; good insight to how music is really composed for games these days. Now I know what to do on my commute to work...
...though I don't want to die, so maybe I'll stick with my lunch break.

Great, this dipshit is going to kill a van full of babies so he can save an hour at work everyday. Somebody fire his ass so he'll get the hell off the road with his damn keyboard.
recording in the car.. thats crazeee. especially when he has to set it up and click the record buttons and all that

Composing while driving in a car is as awesome as it is ridiculous. Recording some of the instruments in a big garage was a pretty cool idea though, and the bowed cymbal thing was neat.

Wouldn't it be pretty sweet if we can see Matt Uelman(who did the soundtracks for Diablo 1&2) writing the score for Diablo 3.
I've always admired his work. It fits right with the dark, gloomy atmosphere in Diablo, wasn't just another background music.
His music sounds ethereal with some 'Portishead' thrown in it.. I don't know it just sounds so dreamy..

Not enough $100+ trips to Taco Bell. Or Dr. Claw.
Pretty nuts though.
