OCR00966 - Zelda 64 'Lullaby Proximitus' (http://remix.overclocked.org/detailmix.php?mixid=OCR00966)

Good stuff Wintermute. It's short, but definately sweet. I really like it when the main melody comes in; very groovy percussion work in this track. 1:28 is definately my favorite part, with the offbeat melody crazy bass synth. Very cool.

Very tight stuff. Your drums are really fresh and exciting. I can't believe the judges were "split" on the vote! Jeeze. The harshness of this is freakin cool. Wah wah. Guess the judges can't take much different from the norm. I love it. Awesome work. Keep on using messed up sounds like that. They're sweet.

Well, the chord progression and tonality have clearly been changed, but it was certainly for a reason; Wintermute has made a very interesting and unique interpretation of Zelda's Lullaby. I like it.

Pretty groovy- as the judges noted, some clipping and the ending is a bit of letdown (although I don't have a clue what the "off notes" criticism was about), but overall this is a very smooth little number.

I thought it was pretty good, I only wish it was a lot longer.

Like some have already said, pretty good but short.

Very nice. It captures the essence of the song you were mixing and gives it a really somber, yet upbeat take on it. Definately a job well done.

I liked the piano intro and the the drums. It does sound a bit rough at some parts though, and felt a bit short.

What is with all these ".... it is okay.... kinda strange some times.... It is an alright remix" posts?

Anyways, I like this Remix mainly because it is from a Zelda game!!

Well, I think the drums you have in this go along great with the piano and such.

Most everything sounds crisp, and clear.

I do think you could have sanded the edges on this song just alittle more, becuase there are many parts that just don't seem, perfect.

Close enough for me though.

Keep up the great work.

Very, I guess the word I'm looking for is "clever" to take a lullaby and make it a rockin, almost industrial mix. I love it how the beat drives this song. And when the piano chords playing quarters notes comes in near the end, it's aural bliss. I likes it.

"aural bliss." Thanks man, that's the best compliment ever. Thanks all for your comments. :)

Hrm. Pretty good stuff. Rather short though - a bit right near the end where the off-beat notes are used for that rough-distorty-gurgly-whatevery sound, which I can see would not appeal to some people

(By that I mean, if you take one sound and give it unconventional sound AND arrangement into the larger piece, people will typically not like it if they are orderly musically.)

Nevertheless I think it would be a worthy song of putting on my CDs somewhere IF it were a good bit longer. This song stops just as it gets going :(

really awsome mix, its a theme befitting of a fighting Zelda, such as in SSBM and Wind Waker, this is a Zelda who dosen't put up with crap...

3/10-Really, really good in the begginning, really, really bad by the end. Whatever sample you used for the actual melody completely ruined the remix. I would have given you a six if you used a flute instead.

GIMME MORE!

There. That's as informal as I'll get for a while.

This is a very interesting piece. Perfectly to my tastes. I've never played Ocarina of Time, and therefore know nothing of the original piece. But I have to say that, even without extensive knowledge of the original, this is pretty much ear candy.

The unique blending of synths and piano was fun, to say the least. The drums (perhaps the most entertaining part) were right on. The layering was nice and the gradual working-in of the various tracks was pure ecstacy as far as musical theory was concerned. And it's not everyday that such things as what I refer to as machinegun-drums fit in with musical theory.

Nice work, Wintermute. I look forward to hearing more of your material.

Zelda is the man

No, she isn't.

Anyway, I like this mix a lot; it does some very interesting things, and does them well. I'm pretty sure it will be ending up in my playlist.

I really liked this one, it's very different from most Zelda ReMixes. The first thing that comes to mind when I listen to this is Linkin Park. Yes, Linkin Park. This mix is done in a style that would match their "Breaking The Habbit" very well. Seeing as how that song is just plain beautiful, that's a compliment in my eyes.

Great job! :D I hope to see more of this offbeat electronic mixing style in the future.

A little on the short side, but I really dig this. I wish this was longer. Really cool drumwork. I'm glad this somehow made it to OC. It deserves to be here. The judges are getting frighteningly conservative. :? Great work on the leads too. I look forward to your next mix.

Cool! :D I really like this ReMix. The piano is indeed deceptive... Very hard, and quite dark, especially considering the original... and very, very good. :D

Wow... eerie at first, then starts to get a little too electronic, but still good. It is amazing in it's own way, but different than I imagine the theme when I first hear it. really good, though! 8/10

I've never played Ocarina of Time.
:O Wow. I don't think I've ever met anyone gamer like that. But, I guess that makes the compliments you gave even better. I hear an awesome song and an intense feeling of nostalgia that adds to the awesomness. You just get the former. So any praise from you counts for extra! :p

As for the actual song, aural bliss definently describes it.

I'm going against popular opinion it seems, but I kinda liked the end. After :52 it picked up with some bad static sampling, but I thought it was pretty good overall otherwise.

I would have to agree with the majority that it was really really well done at the beginning and it should have been longer a tad. I also really liked the piano melodies throughout the song.

I don't know if this is off-topic but what remixing software did you use?

This has to be one of the best remixes I have heard on the site, I love how the song starts out in a calm dark manner, and just explodes into an amazing rendition of Zelda's Lullabuy. It's amazing how you took such a simple theme, and turned it into this, it puts it into a completely different perspective, I think that this song is the defintion of what a good remix should be.
Please Make More! :D

no thanks. :-(
Some things should be electronic, and other things shouldn't.
This mix belongs in the latter category.

Always been a favorite of mine, just a great feel and chord progression. If I had to be picky though, I'd say that the repeating piano chords towards the end were a little cheesy, along with the fadeout ending. I definitely agree that it could've used some extra length/development. Still, what's there is excellent. :)

Some interesting sound choices, some of which i think are great, and others that I really wasn't feeling, mainly due to mixing. :/

I thought the percussion was very good, and I really enjoyed the feel of the patterns, but the velocities are crazy static in just about every instrument, making it feel a bit weaker than it should have. I think a bit more development would have been really nice as well, because there were a lot of places this could have gone.

Mixing was a mixed bag, with the melody a bit buried (and a not-awesome synth used for it) and muddy overtones throughout, but the sounds overall gelled pretty well.

I'm being nitpicky about this one because there really is a lot to like, but the execution fell a little short. I wish I could hear some more recent tracks by WinterMute, because there is a distinct ear for good stuff at work here. Still worth a listen, i'd say.

The first thing that comes to mind when I listen to this is Linkin Park.
Heh, same with me! This and CrystallineCaverns are the two most Linkin Park-y sounding remixes on OCRemix. And that's what I like about them.
