After reading the guidelines of a submission I am aware that my ID3v1 tag
barely falls short of what you prefer in your tags.

As I had never even heard of OverClocked.org when I began my music, I
created my own ID3v1 tag format and have remained consistant with it in all
my music (as you would expect from a professional in any field).

If I could copy the file to another site and change the tag format there, I
would, but I can’t. The fact is I don’t even have access to my own site as
it is on a restricted server.
My music has to be passed through the network administrator and sent through
him for security reasons.

That is the song (NO DUH!!) and the ID3v1 tag would need the following
modifications to meet your criteria exactly: Title should be “Donkey Kong
Country™ 2: Diddy’s Kong Quest, Mines, OC ReMix” and the year would be 2002.

Also the link to your site, of course.
I submit this to several places so it is not practical for me to change the
information every time.

The song is credited to me, L. Spiro.

What you can expect by listening to it: Ambient digitech, screaming guitars,
a dance piano, and choir pads. It sets a soothing atmosphere with a heavy
beat.

Sequenced and programmed entirely in Cakewalk. MIDI playback device:
Yamaha® MOTIF 7.

This sounds very nice indeed (well he's using a Motif!)

However, the eq is questionable - IMHO, the piano is too bright, and the drums need to be brightened up. The mix itself was also quite repetitive and got boring after a while.

Ah, dkc2, the brightspot in a sea of .... brightspots... in the game music world.

This really impresses in the high sound quality area.

Love the original. Nothing wrong with this so far.

Lovely!

well it doesn't really go far from the original... but the sounds ARE nice, and the drums are funky enough. ... Damn, I'm kind of torn. I don't want to say yes based solely on the sounds, but they DO sound nice. Now I know how Luke felt when he was tempted to join the Dark Side.

Ah well, it's really not too different from the original except for the sounds used. So...

NO

Well, I'm not familiar with the original, so any link to an SPC to show me
otherwise would be appreciated, but this sounds pretty solid to me.

It's really nice to hear a ReMix of this track of which I've always loved. One of my definite favorites from the game. The thing about this mix is that it does the original so much justice. It's very well done and well worth the listen.

FYI, I was going to override this one and just post it, so I'm interested in what the final vote is.

Post it if you want, but it's my opinion that this deserves nothing else but a NO. I am very familiar with the game and its music, and I am not hesitant in saying that this is hardly any different from the original except for a transplant in instrumentation sampling; the arrangement is the same, the progression is the same, the sequencing is the same, and the kicker: the drumline is the same. Couldn't you have at least given a boost to the simplistic drum pattern that's common to games of this generation? "Thwomp-ah, Thwomp-ah, Thwomp-ah." That doesn't cut it for me.

I'd have liked to see some original improv, fresh ideas, an improved drumline, and an actual ending.

Nope, I go with the judges, esp. when you've taken the time to compare more closely with the original.

I'd recommend to the ReMixer that the sound quality was certainly there, but to either revise the mix to make it more "your own" or to do so with your next submission.
