What did you think? Post your opinion of this ReMix.
Ha, knew this would be up fast. :D
You know, the last thing I want to do is inflate Star's ego even more, but this time he deserves it, darn it! Truly exceptional work of a caliber I haven't seen since "Sex Machine." ;) :nicework:

"They call me Gato, I have metal"-- wait a minute, WTF?
Oh, it's that OTHER robot from CT, now with his own song. Gato's got some competition!
I could've found a better use for a track with real vocals, but this ain't bad. It sounds a little cluttered though... I don't think you're giving the vocals enough "room", volume/etc-wise.
Good and original though :)

It's funny that you say it has emotion. But, technically, it doesn't. It's a robot singing. YET, it does have emotion. GREAT stuff. Robo's theme is some of the best tunage on the CT soundtrack (not that CT is lacking in good tunage), and one of my favorte tracks. And this remix does NOT dissapoint.
I visited this site for years, and hardly post, especially in the reviews, but Star definitely got me a-typing this time. Keep up the good work.
I wonder what it's like to only wait like a week to get a remix posted...
Well I really like this ReMix. It would be nice if the vocals were a little bit louder, but it's an excellent job altogether. The lyrics are so cute (and I mean "cute" in a good way; I'm not insulting them).

Wow, that was fast posting! I only saw that song on WIP like a week or two ago! Lucky dog! :)
Well, what can I say about this great song.......
I loved it at the WIP page.
And I still love it at the front page.
Nice going Star, TheIncredibleSingingRobot is an incredible song. :nicework:

DAMN! :nicework:
[anticipates Star's ego] Goddammit, Star, STFU already!
What "Big Shell West Bristol" does for trip-hop, this does for 80s synth-pop. Starblast pulled off a very authentic adaptation to the style. Fellow OC ReMixer Electron, who did an all-80s radio show (The Vault) at my college, would love this track.
So how does someone apparently get to wait only a week to get a mix posted...?
Because HE [points to Star] made THAT [points to "The Incredible Singing Robot"]!

There are some songs that defy their genres. For example, I totally hate most disco (that can be taken more than one way), yet "Stayin' Alive" by the Beegees is completely awesome. Or like how I completely hate Jewel... oh wait... I don't like any of her songs, nevermind...
Anyway, I really like this mix. I enjoyed the concept of this mostly. You took what in any other context would suck and turned it into something really cool. For example, the vocals (if they were outside of this track) would be a joke, but they fit so perfectly. Well done.

bahaha geezus people, enough with the ego bashing. I dont have a big ego! I just dont believe in false modesty :P
No reason to be like "omg i suck" to fish for compliments, right?
Just cuz I really like my own music (who doesnt like their own stuff?), and think I'm a cool person doesnt mean I have a big ego :D It just means I have a lot of confidence. That being said, thanks for the compliments, they help too :D

Just stfu, Star, and be glad that you are awesome ;)
Anyway, copied from the WIP forum because I'm a lazy bastard:
This song is great. And I'm sure all of your future groupies in here will agree. The distorted drums are just perfect (especially the ope hi-hat sound that's always panned to the right) and get your attention at the beginning of the remix while feeling lo-fi and robotic. The panning for the drums is very nice, also, though it seems to get lost in the shuffle when the beef of the mix comes in. But then again, I like it to be beefy as possible.
The mix itself is very synthy - sort of like a high fi enhancement of a vintage .mod file or something. That's good thing, though - the whole old technology theme is something that I really love. The lyrics are astoundingly fitting. Even though they're simple, they're sung with the appropriate amount of emotion yet peppiness like a robot. And, thankfully, you didn't feel the need to flex your badass samples and slap string parts all over the mix - it's much better this way.
Towards the end of the mix - the marcato violins are impressive, but the piano sounds a little dry and staccato for such an epic pop song. It doesn't stick out too much, though.
Overall, there are some clipping problems here and there but it's hardly noticible. Otherwise, this is probably my favorite thing of yours, StarBLaSt. Keep up the good work!

Ok...I just heard the Gato track for the first time this evening, I don't know HOW the hell I missed it, but I'm glad it was mentioned in the review...that said...
Um...
This is unbelieveably cool. I haven't been so jazzed about a mix like this since Game Over's stellar Punch Out! piece. I listen to a lot of songs off the site...a lot. And I love many of them, but there are only a few that I just click with like this.
Excellent work man, love the vocal tweaking ("ThouGH I am MADE from TItAnIUM" ) and the slightly-dopey voice...very nice stuff. I'm laughing out loud, and loving this as a piece of music at the same time...I keep missing sections of the lyrics though, because I start focusing on the fun music (Robo's theme one of the best in the game) and miss them.
Will definately check out your other stuff (dunno how the heck I missed that either, must have slipped in during the period when I was new to Japan and not checking this site every day. (No 8 MPS ADSL and no OCR make the wombat go something something...)
Edit: Have realized I've got some of your other stuff sitting on the ole' MP3 player...just didn't realize it was you:0)

It sounds very nice, and from the little I played of Chrono Trigger, that was my fave tune in it. The lyrics are a great idea for this tune/concept, but I really can't hear them enough to work out what's going on. Real nice mix other than that, but because of that trouble I was a bit 'meh'. What I actually wanted to say though was the piano and strings part that the song finishes with is beautiful. That small part of the song is so nice I just keep playing the whole thing again. Love the piano hehe.

This was a beautiful and completely original remix. I enjoy the rhythm, along with the warped voice wrapped gently around the harsh-sounding percussion. It kind of gives it a quality of finely-crafted scissors in a coating of bubble wrap. I also enjoyed toward the end and in the middle where it gives orchestral breaks, and at the end the drums end leaving you with the piano, strings and other great classical instruments. And to top it all off, you get Robo's storyline in the lyrics along with the music. A perfect work, all hail the Star Salzman!

im not even a star groupie and i love this shizzy. heh, it kinda reminds me of that band "Eiffel 69" with the synth pop and the robotic voice. the lyrics are damn good too, and the ending which goes away from the synth and into the piano is beautiful and a perfect transmission. keep pumping out good songs, bitch!

I very rarely post to congratulate a remixer on his or her work, but I think this really deserves it. One of the best pieces of work I've heard on this site, and that's saying something. :)

My only gripe is nearly the whole thing is overdriven such that it's rather difficult to understand the lyrics.

I think the key thing about this song is how it invokes nostalgia. You can't help but laugh and think of those classic CT moments you had while listening to this song. So just as OCR is relegated to a select few insiders, I feel this song has the same purpose.
Damn it couldn't you have waited a week or two before putting this song in the WIP forum? I've been jamming to this song ever since I first heard it, and hence have had the damn thing in my head for EVERY DAMN FINAL I have taken at school!!! I had a song by Sadorf (Ecco 2 Medusa Mix) from the WIP forum in my head last time I took finals as well! Ahh well. 'Tis a pleasant thing really. Good work on this song by the way, if I can have a song in my head for like a week and not be disgruntled about it--then I know the song truly rules.
Thanks for sharing your musical wealth,
Joseph Collins

First off, I have to say "wow" at the speed at which this song was posted. I guess Mr. Lloyd does make sure we don't miss out on the best. :)
This song is very well done, and is insanely addicting. The music and lyrics all blend together wonderfully. Definately your best work so far. I can't give enough praise for this song. Awesome work! :D

I felt like Robo was more than just a robot... emotion in a robot...though...robots don't feel emotion...except robo! muharharhar :D

hey let me get the bad out first. now this is just my personal preference ;).. I cant stand 80's euro techno blah. did someone say it was making a comeback? please say it aint so.. (then again disco did make a comeback before.. didnt it?) So, regretably, this is the first saltymans remix i wont have on my playlist.. :(
having gotten my opinions out of the way ;), this remix is both poeticlly, and professionally done. You cannot argue the fact of the composition itself almost imaculate and the processing, samples, ..everything.., just sounds near perfection (minus various distortioness which COULD be intended cuz its damn 80's crap). And it's true, it is a very emotional piece of work. Very well, you'd expect no less from salty salzman.keke.
I also have to mention this, but it's strange to me that some of his mixes have a little hint of j-pop in them.. MUST be just me... cuz i get into way too much japanese music, women, food, films, anime, soaps, women.. oh god i think im turning japanese.. yea.. its just me.. disregard this paragraph (unless its true ;)
Honestly though, if i'd had to change anything, i would have added a minor touch of vocoder to the vocals just for the hell of pimpin da 80's to da fullest! ya nah mean? holla!
80's... Notice how, "That 80's Show", was quickly canceled off FOX. Not surprising at all!! :)

I said it all in the WIP forum. This song kicks so much ass its not funny. Although I don't know why the rap mix isn't up. Anyways, the singing, samples, everything, its all perfect. I love this song!!!

I'll say what I said when this was in the WIP forum:
This song is perfect. Absolute perfectness.
Any CT fan should get this, and perhaps SING to it. And have a good time doing so. Cuz I sure did.

Yes!!
This guy knows how to produce music. I'm not very fond of this genre, but this is a great mix and he REALLY has sensitivity about voiceings and choice of sounds. It makes me wanna write lyrics for some NES melody and record it too..
There are only one thing that annoys me a tiny little bit and it is the overuse of stereo-width-plugs on the drums (or is it autopan on everything?? my computers sound system are not very good).
But besides that; this is one of the best I've heard on overclocked..

I doubt I'd ever be charged with being a Star-groupie...I've read some of his posts, but don't think I've ever posted in response.
Just wanted to say that after having listening to this one a few more times, Star...I'm afraid I have to add you to my list of people I'm going to behead so I can absorb their power.
Nothing personal.

This mix beats CastleMania, Rabbit Joint Cover, and Ocarina boogie for catchiest mix. Its superb, and I like it even though I'm not a fan of 80's. But there will be a whole bunch of people saying Daft Punk did it.

This song makes me happy in ways I can't even describe. I know now that I've been waiting for this Robo mix ever since I found this site. This is what I've been looking for.
I mean, I can't stop smiling. When it mentions Fiona, I swear ta god I laughed out loud. Dear god, this song shouldn't make me this happy. But it does! It DOES!
I commend you.

Allow me, if I may, to throw in a few words that could be seen as negative.
To begin, I enjoy this mix a great deal. It's professional and put together quite well. The lyrics make sense and work well for the sound and feel of this song. The lyrics themselves are not goofy at all, which is an admirable feat for this kind of piece.
That said, I can't help but feel slighly embarrassed when I listen to this. Embarrassed in the same way I am when I listen to "Eight Bit Eighties" or "Relax". While it works well as a tribute to both Robo and a particular style of music it doesn't hold up too well on it's own, I'm afraid.
That said, I am enjoying this. Against my better judgement. But it won't be going on my CDs for work. It probably won't even find it's way onto a playlist. It's great for what it is, and the work put into it is admirable, but overall it's nothing amazing. A great tribute, but not much else.
Of course this is just one man's opinion, the opinon of a man who has no idea about how to even go about making something like this. So don't take it too hard, Star. You have shown your talent once again, even if it isn't in my particular tastes. And for that you deserve my admiration.

05-22-2003, 09:56 AM
Admittedly I am a fan of the 80's
But still.
While this may not be my absolute favorite mix on the site, it is definitely close.
And even if this isn't my favorite, of the ones I have heard, this is quite possibly the definite BEST.
Everything about it is perfectly executed, from the synths chosen, to the lyrics, to the distortion of the voice, to the flow of the song from one section to another, to the excellent solo piano at the end. I could not find a single thing that I would change about this mix, and I rarely say that about ANY piece of music, be it some teenybopper crap off the radio, or a renowned piece such as Barber's Adagio for Strings.
Musicially and technically, this mix is great stuff. Keep the high standards for yourself, you have a serious future in music, if you have not realized that future by now already.
I visited this site for years, and hardly post, especially in the reviews, but Star definitely got me a-typing this time. Keep up the good work.
I second that word for word.

Being the lurker that I am, I've decided to make one of my few postings here.
Star, I just wanna say "Thank You" up front for doing such a favorite OSV song in such a fun and original manner. I have to admit, the lyrics are kinda corny, but hell, it put a great big smile on my face and made me smile today. Its hard to create a mood altering piece, but this did it.
The only bad thing I have to say is that I think the base beat in the very beginning was a tad heavy, but other than that, it was a really spiff mix.
I may not be a groupie, but if he keeps this up, I may have to join the fan club. :P

Hey man, great job. I really respect those who implament lyrics into their works. Good singing with it, and nice use of "flangers" in your voice. I believe that's a "tremolo" flanger no? Great music to boot, awesome midsection break with the synths. It gives me so many ideas for remixing, very inspiring, really. I look forward to more remixes with vocals from you.

Uh huh...was my first thought on this song, its a tad plucky, but good all around. The lyrics fit perfectly in with the beat, but I must admit, they are slightly goofy (i.e. wont you pick, me instead of that frog, I can do healing to). It sounds like he really liked the robot that lena fixed. Goofy lyrics aside, this remix is extremely up lifting and a good choice to listen to, if your down.

Hmmmm. where to begin. This is magnificent. Its extremly well done and one of the funniest remixes I've ever heard.
The percusiion is excellent. The bass in the intro is nice, though my only problem with this song, a very small one is in the intro. I would have liked to hear a bit more of thr treble. I have to really listen to hear it. But the bass is good so it makes up for that.
The lyrics are grerat. I like the technique done with the voices. They're real nostalgic. The make perfect sense. I always liked seeing just how much struff like that a person can work into a song or poem. This does an excellent job of that. And suddenly i'm motivated to do a singing remix (I've done a lot of lyrics thingsa like this. never got around to making the actual music though).
Well done star. This is grerat, and i expect to hear well over 100 times this afternoon.

I absolutely love this! It's now permanently stuck in my head and i can't stop singing it! No word of a lie.
At first glance, as in at just the title, I was expecting it to be Gato's song, but then i clicked for the info and just had to hear it for myself. The lyrics, silly as they are, fit in perfectly and the curt choppiness of them? Makes them sound like a real robot talking, er, singing. Sweet and upbeat, I only have one teensy-weensy little disappointment---it slightly disses Kaeru/Frog, who is my personal favorite. "Won't you pick me instead of that frog?" I've only got one question---what's wrong with Frog?
Seeing it as how you did such a kick-ass job on this, how about something like this using Frog's theme? It's just a suggestion....

I've heard this song develop as Starblast worked on it, and ever since the very first version of this song, I have LOVED it, absolutely adored it. I even talk to him myself for a while about it, because I was so anxious to learn more about the song. This is fabulous work, there is nothing more that I can say other than the fact that I worship the song, and that I'll be looking forward to more of his work such as this.
Holy crap.. I didn't realize I made that typo Starblast, sorry!! ^^;

Incredible.
Absolutely incredible. I have been cruising this site forever... and listening to everything on it. I've even scouted the forums before, but not until I heard this did I finally get motivated to register, just to say WOW! Like someone else said earlier, no mix has snapped me to attention quite this much since Little Mac's Confession. Outstanding, sickeningly addictive stuff StarBlast. Keep it up!

Well, this mix was definitely original, but for some reasons it sounded too muddled.. First off, I think it's GREAT that an OCR remix finally has a song throughout instead of random, short vocals.
But throughout the vocal parts, there's too many instruments that are actually louder than the vocal and that helps make the tunes sound muddled and confusing. I think it would've been better if all those other sounds were in the INTERLUDES and not in the vocals themselves..
Otherwise, this is a very fun mix... but it sorta gave me a headache because those other instruments were so muddled with the vocals...
Words can't describe how much I love this song. It's so damn happy and fun...I've been singing it to myself all day. The lyrics are rather well written...they brought a smile to my face. Love the voice effects and the instrumentation too. This song has to be one my favorites here. I love it.

GOOD WORK!
You should do a song for each of the characters. Although, Crono's would have to be lyrical (ha, get it? He doesn't talk in the game, therefore no lyrics to his song! Ha! I kill me...). But in all seriousness, a lyrical for each of the characters would be awesome! Assuming they're done well. I'd make one, but I have no musical (writing) ability.

Extremely well done. Easily one of the best songs on here, and DEFINITELY the most creative remix on the entire sight. Star Salzman is a genious, turning the lyric-less track into a song with lyrics that fit, and the mood of the song is upbeat and cheerful. Unordinarily great, and greatly unordinary. 10/10.

Definitely a very creative mix. The music has a very realistic 80's effect and the the lyrics are quite good. Unfortunately I can't see myself listening to this song very much. It's mostly because lyrics have to be integrated really well into a song for me to enjoy it. But I have to give props to Star for such a creative remix. I really like the ending too.

Hey, I just wanted to say you did good work. I also think you should post your song Iced Tea in the originals forum, because that was tight. Or anyone can check it out on your site.
There are alot of people complaining because it's cheesy. That's just because they don't like the genre. The vocals were well done, and the music was tight.

There is a CD called "Sign" that was put out by Nobukazu Takemura, who did a lot of 8-bit NES music back in the day. I don't have the CD myself, but there is one track on it (it comes with a CD movie music video) that has some of the same vocoded lyrics and synthy instruments arranged in a similar bouncy and nostalgic fashion.
This composition instantly reminded me of it quite a bit, although I definitely like "Incredible Singing Robot" better. I know that this is just a remix, and not an original composition, but I would still say that Star has got some pretty strong kung fu.

Brilliant track, represents Robo's Theme in a way that, as far as I'm concerned, deserves a medal. I love the drums, and the ending is particularly great. Not everyone will like it though, but it's better to have a song thats hated by 50% of the public and loved by 50% of the public than a song which everyone thinks is "OK".

I have nothing else to say but...
Woo. Very Woo.
Great stuff, I seem to love every Star Salzman piece that I hear...
Nice. Probably one of the best ReMixes on the site. People who shun it can go suck a sage.
You should do a lyrical one to Lucca's Theme (how does one pronounce 'Lucca' anyways?).
Also, even if Mitsuda DID listen to this song, he wouldn't be able to understandit -- he's said so himself that he isn't very good at English -- but the song is still cool, even if you couldn't understand it.
Trés Cool, 9/10. My only problem is, the song isn't long enough, and the voice wasn't "robotic" enough, oh yeah, the vocals are sort of faded. o
Although, Crono's would have to be lyrical (ha, get it? He doesn't talk in the game, therefore no lyrics to his song! Ha! I kill me...). You mean instrumental?
Whatever, same thing. Sort of. Well, not really. In fact, not at all. Still, it would be cool to hear lyricals to all the characters. I've always been a OCR lyrical fan. Erm... wait, ReMix ReViews forum, right. This song is... cool... or whatever.
<~~ Tears, mang. Tears of joy. And I didn't even like this game so much. I'll buy j00 some Mad Dog or Shiner Bock the next time I'm in Austin. For originality alone, my new #1.

It was AWESOME! The voice was awesome, the music was awesome, the lyrics were awesome, it was AWESOME!!!!!! There's NO way anyone could make a better mix then that! I listen to it all the time, when I'm working on my story, when I'm in the car, when I'm in the plane, well. . . that's the only time that I'm ever close to a cd player or computer. But do you get my drift? I love that song! I sing that song alot, too, but not enough to be upsessed with it. I think you should keep doing songs like that, with lyrics, either a techno or kinda 80'sish tune, and all thet stuff. Well, keep ReMixing. Sorry if I embarrassed you  Star salzman RULES!! I love this song. the only thing wrong with it is that people are gonna put up fewer Robo's theme remixes cuz its so great. And if you DO make another one, star, then Frogs song should definetly be very orchestral.
INCREDIBLY strong and nostalgic finish.
Well, it strikes me as kinda goofy, but I still can't help but like it. As corny as the lyrics are, it does sound like it could really be Robo, it sounds like stuff Robo would say. I can almost imagine it really is him singing the song. So even though one can't take it completely seriously, I can't help but feel some love for the big ol metal dude. Besides, there's nothing wrong with something light hearted once in a while.
Also, nice job on the instrumentation. The clangy industrial sounds rock, and makes a good counter-balance to the lighthearted parts of the song.

I'd just like to say that, even several months after the fact, this remix remains one of the few in recent memory to have that certain explosive, energetic, and (ironically enough) emotional feel to it that so many new remixes are missing these days. So few remixes rarely have this much heart and soul poured into a mix, and I sorely wish more remixers went to greater lengths to make their final product that much greater. (This is why I dislike ambient tracks, although I understand that a good deal of work goes into them as well.)
Any idiot can throw together a drum loop and a few synths together and call it a remix, but it takes a true passion and love for the art to truly do the songs justice.
I don't think I have anything else to say that hasn't already been said (I only skimmed up to page four and skipped the rest) besides the obvious "10/10 A++++ would obsessively listen to again." So there you go.

This ReMix seems to have gotten it's share of reviewage... oh well, I'll throw my kindling on the fire to keep it burning!
This is the first thing that I downloaded on the site, and it didn't disappoint.
Really, there's nothing to complain about on this one. Right length, nothing gets old, and all that.
What stands out? Quite obviously the lyrics. Wonderfully crafted, written, applied to the song, and sung. Expect for the bridge and after the final verse, I really don't see much ReArrangement from the original tune. That's not a complaint; I very much approve. I really dig the piano at the end.
There's really not much else to say. This remix rocks. Rest assured it's not everyone's thing, though.

Initially I didn't give this song any credit. My big mistake. The beginning really gave me the impression that the whole thing was going to be nasty quality music. Much to my amazement, when I actually sat down and listened to the whole thing through, my jaw just about hit the floor. Like someone else said earlier in this review, it does remind me of Daft Punk's Digital Love. Amazing remix. Very nice.

I don't know what to say about this one. The parts with no lyrics are sheer brilliance: THAT is how robo's theme was meant to sound. However, it clips so badly with the singing that it makes my ears bleed. Do you have a non-clipping version?

I have to admit, when I first saw the review for this reMix, I said to myself "Vocals >.>.." My expirences with OCR with vocals hasnt been good. I finally gave it a shot and found myself listening to this song 24-7. Its soo easy to imagine Robo actually singing this, which is what really makes this song a true classic at OCR ^__^. I am not a hardcore RPG gamer, but the I have developed a very strong
emotional connection to the Chrono series, thanks to the incredible
music by Yasunori Mitsuda.
The Robo theme was one of my favorite tunes from the CT soundtrack
and Star brings it to life with lyrics in the best way possible.
Even though I am not fond of the distorted drums in this piece, I would
still rate it as the most imaginitive CT remix ever. The lyrics fit the
mood of the track perfectly and offer a good insight into Robo's
complex character.
For those of you who haven't downloaded this remix yet, put it as
the top priority on your "to do" list. This track is a must-have.

The title says it all. Incredible. I love 80s music, so naturally this song appeals to me. The lyrics are creative, great and almost give Robo real emotions. The music is addictive and will always stick in my head. My favorite CT remix. 10/10

05-05-2004, 09:22 AM
Made me laugh, made me cry, made me turn the volume down. I didn't think that a remix could bring such emotion, never mind one featuring a compressed and vocoded singing robot. It's faults are mostly obvious: a few instruments (and sometimes that awesome voice) get lost underneath the otherwise very worthy drums. Overlooking the mixing and mastering, the arrangement is one of the most listenable among the remixes, although that isn't saying much, it is a good arrangement.
Robo can kick Gonzales/Gato's metal-jointed posterior any day in a singing contest.

I am amazed. This song is DEFINITELY worth downloading. Robo's theme is not a song that lends itself well to any kind of lyrics - believe me, I've tried - yet it sounds excellent. The lyrics are well written, the remix music itself is great, the drums are a bit heavy , but otherwise almost perfect. The only thing about this song is the fact that the volume is insane, so none of the cool Plenoptic graphics on Windows Media look good with it. This is another unequivocal remix from Star Salzman. I give 9.9/10, marked down for volume.

I was greatly amused by this song as it had excellent lyrics (which is appreciated more if you own a copy of Chrono Trigger) and a real neat 80's style melody. I enjoyed this song on many levels and the melody goes along perfectly with both the words and the voice used for the piece. Robo was always a cool character and the music was fantastic by all means for snes. With in depth lyrics and beautiful harmony between voice and music, i give this mix a 9/10.

I can't explain it but.. this song has such emotion in it! Robo Robo Robo! I loved the main theme so it must have been residual with me but I think this adds something else somehow with the lyrics. (Robo was in my final party with Crono and Lucca.. I only played through it once, he was definitely something special).

Not only does this song have a great beat and sound incredible, but it's funny!
Just listen to the lyrics and you'll see: "Won't you pick me instead of that frog? I can do healing too!"
This is truly great stuff!

Out of every remix I have ever heard on OCRemix... Star... You have made one of the best I have possibly ever heard. I mean, seriously now, this song exited me, saddened me, and gave me joy. The lyrics are truley touching and comical at the same time. This is one of the best, so keep the masterful work up!

Star...this remix has woken me up unexpectedly so many times. It's far louder than most mixes in my VG music playlist. But each time I don't reach for the remote to turn the volume down so I may return to my slumber...nay...I listen and smile. I listen til' it's through and then fall back into cozy sleep and dream good things.

I say you should enter the next American Idol. You'd have my vote! this song enough is proof!
Every time I listen to this, it brings a smile to my face. Vocal tracks are always some of the best remixes on the site, and this one shows why.

Good song, though I'll agree with it being sufficiantly louder than most of the other tracks I have (the two main exceptions being Rize's Rude Awakening and AmIEvil's Samus Strut (but that's mainly because I have a giant woofer.)) Great lyrics as well. My favorite part of the whole song, though, is the end, with the piano-y part of the theme. It's a ton less loud, and really nice, actually. Calming, if you will. The rest of the song is surprisingly well orchestrated behind the lyrics. A bunch of the songs I've listened to with lyrics not in the original song aren't orchestrated this well, ([sucks up]Pillar of Salt being an especially noteworthy exception[/sucks up])
So, yeah. Nice song.

This is such an amazing ReMix, Star Salzman. I applaud you. Absolutely incredible, this is such an amazing song, truly. There's something there, that many people should understand. I do see what everyone means by this song lacking multiple instruments, but sometimes more isn't better. It's what the few included instruments can do, not just how many you can fit in one song. This song definitely conveys so much emotion. It opens up right with a retro-SNES sounding drum beat that's both nostalgic yet sounds so crisp and fresh. I do agree that the voice is occasionally lower than its surrounding instruments, but I don't have a problem with it whatsoever. It makes the voice seem so...comforting. It's not the focus for once, it's in the background, like a beautifully flowing lullaby or something, I don't know. That's just what is truly commendable; this is a robot singing, a machine. And yet it seems so alive and full of emotion. And I love how, around 1:04, 1:39 and a few other times, there's that impeccable echo. It makes Gato's voice so soothing, so saddening in some way too. I also noticed the perfect inclusion of Robo's static whirring/beeping in the song at 1:46. The story that Gato tells, is really enjoyable...it's accurate and memorable. I do see perhaps how some could say the lyrics feel stretched, but I don't agree that it sounds bad at all. If anything it makes it seem so much more enjoyable and genuine, almost as if Gato is right there in front of me at the fair, holding his mic, with speakers behind him playing the little drums and techno rhythms. I am so happy with this song, even though it runs nearly 4 minutes in length, it doesn't get old. There are MANY songs here that sound absolutely terrific, but something makes me sometimes go "nah, not right now" after about a minute and skip to a new song. All the way to the very end; a small piano solo closing; it goes out with such a pervasive bang. If anyone has second thoughts about downloading this, think no further. [I mean, I was going to post this review right after finishing it, until I decided to hit "Preview", and then I saw how massive of a review this really is. That should really show you how amazing it really is.] Give Star Salzman the credit I truly believe he deserves, whether or not you enjoyed this ReMix, it's creative, inspiring, and unique. Thank you for such a great contribution. 10/10

This song is damn good. The original tune was already great, and this song takes everything good from the original and adds on to it. This song is very weird and kind of overly flamboyant, if you know what I mean. But if you can get past that, it's an awesome tune. Good for the ears.
Edit: I listened to this song again (about 5 times really), and I have to say its one of the best I've heard on Overclocked. Thanks, Star Salzman. I hope you do more remixes with your vocals and original lyrics. They are the best.

I figure that with pages and pages of review already, this doesn't need any more, but I couldn't help but comment.
This is a fascinating "remix", if you want to call it that. It is just as original if not more so than Pillar of Salt, and I can hear similarity to it however simply in the sheer depth of sound created. I really enjoy the opening rhythm.
Excellent work!

Oooh, I love this remix so much! ^^ I mean, first of all, I love the sound of it, the 80s vibe and all...but my favorite part is the lyrics. They're so great, part beautiful, party funny, and all-around a great representation of my favorite character from Chrono Trigger. Keep up the good work, Star, 'cause this is one of my most favorite remixes I've downloaded.

This song is simply good enough to join the forums for! It's wonderful, and every time it plays I remember most everything I did with Robo in Chrono Trigger. Especially when he reads Melchoir backwards in Frog's house... *nostalgia*
Anyway, before I actually looked up the lyrics, I always thought they said "Won't you pick me instead of that brat? I can do healing too!" and therefore thought he was talking about Marle. Did anybody else hear this, or am I just insane? :?

This is without a doubt one of the best remixes on the site I've come across so far (currently going through the torrents).
Now, I've never even played Chrono Trigger (or even heard of it before visiting this site), so I think it stands very well as a piece in it's own right.
The melody is just so expressive and the singing lends itself to it so well. It's gonna be a while before I can get this one outta my head - excellent job Star Salzman.

This so totally hilarious! Those who haven´t read the lyrics below djpretzel´s review really, NO, MUST read them! The experience of this becomes much better.
Thanks Salzman, you are the first of the pioneers leading the way to friendship between robots and mankind, in a funny way. The last lines was the best.
But the music is good to, I thought I would download this only because of the great piano at the end. Great that someone took the step to give Robo´s theme a makeover, but we didn´t expect somethin´ like this!
Thanks again Star!**********

I adore this song! Kudos to Star for another job well done. love the whole concept, beginning to end.
You should do a song for each of the characters. Although, Crono's would have to be lyrical (ha, get it? He doesn't talk in the game, therefore no lyrics to his song! Ha! I kill me...).
Actually, he has one line, at the end of the Ultimate Slideshow... so his song would have to have at least one line

This song rules. I'm suprised there aren't more robo remixes like this one but this one does it great justice. Great job with the lyrics too, I think it's a good take on robo's character. I think his girlfriend should have been mentioned in the song though, or like there should be a song about robo losing that pink robot (he he emo robo)... No where was I? Oh right, sweet remix a total 10 outta 10.

After stumbling onto Pillar of Salt, I wanted to hear more Star's stuff. Nothing like Pillar of Salt, but I love it just as much. This is what Robo's theme should have been. Incredible stuff.

Excellent. I think it needed the reference to the girlfriend, but other than that it covered robo's story EXTREMELY well. Also, the insult to Frog at the end was unnecessary. Take them both. I'm sure they have some awesome triple tech together. I wouldn't know. I dropped Robo for Magus. The Masamune just stomped to much trash to leave behind.

This is probably my fave mix on the site. Definitely the only one I've listened to for a half-hour straight...
You really feel for the metal guy...
SPECTACULAR! Robo was always may favorite from the theme to his screwyness to, to the deadly light show. And this song is definately the Tribute he desrves ^_^
p.s Chrono Robo and Frog have great a triple tech :D
I just gotta say, this is one of the my favorite songs I've ever had the luck to listen to from this sweet site. Thanks again for all the hard work!

Hehe, this song is pretty darned good. Although I think that my friends would question my sexuality if they heard me play this in my car lol, oh well, but damn, it sorta sounds like something of a mix of Daft Punk, Orbital and Chrono Trigger meshed together.

Oh wow. This is one of the earliest ReMixes I downloaded, and it's still a favorite. It makes me laugh, dance, and sing along at the same time, and now I can't even imagine hearing the source. The lyrics are great, and I love to randomly sing them because nobody else I know even knows what Chrono Trigger is, and it stumps them.

My first post :-P
I went through all the Chrono Trigger remixes not too long ago since my wife and I just finished the game. I came across this tune and loved it. It has a great beat and the lyrics fit the character. The melody is expressed really well too, both in the lyrical sections and instrumental sections. But, as I believe djpretzel said in his review, this mix has that sort of 80's new wave sound down pat and could, in my opinion, stand toe to toe with Mr. Roboto any day.
My only complaint is that, at least on my speakers, the lyrics don't seem loud enough compared to everything else and seem a bit drowned out
I listen to this on the train and its awesome

I absolutely love this track. I'm not usually a fan of remixes that add lyrics, but these just work so well - from the words to the type of voice used, this IS Robo singing. Every time this pops up on my randomized playlist I can't help but smile and sing along. Very fun take on a great theme from the game. And I love how you worked in just a little bit of Robo's in-game "speaking" sound effect.

This is epic, i can not stop listening this.
One of my favorites- the section at 2:15 is beautiful with that rocking arpeggio, and the rest is pretty solid too. The RMS is a bit high, but that just seems to be how Star rolls.
A great creative endeavor, and one Stars best.

How have I never heard this before? 8-O Star has proven himself time and time again to be a pure genius, so it almost makes me wonder why I haven't taken the time to listen to his whole remix catalog before.
This captures the essence of 80's pop with some appropriate vocal filtering that fits the concept of the song nicely :-P Star is a master of this kind of loud, punchy music that's full of a ton of intricacies that are impossible to fully comprehend on the first listen.
For, like, the 2 of you out there that haven't heard this yet, check it out! It's a really fun romp through a nice theme, what more can you ask for?

This remix is such a classic. Every time I hear it, I can't help but smile, and it fills me with much nostalgia both for the game and for the 80's ^_^ The lyrics are so perfect and the vocals are what makes the remix so memorable. I believe this remix embodies the spirit of what OC ReMix is all about, taking an existing VGM track and totally reinterpreting it in a way that honors the original, while expressing new ideas and much creativity from the remixer as well, creating an entirely unique piece.
