HO HO HO!
this is AWESOME! I've followed this mix on the WIP.
this is one of my fave ReMixes so far.
this mix actually got me interested in this kind o' music.
let's all shake Bisons hand!
the only "bad" thing about this piece is that he had to cut it down

Awesome.
I'm always a fan of tunes that break cliches, and that's pretty much exactly what E-Bison's done here. The entire intro with the clocks is refreshing, not to mention appropriate. The main (and some backup) synths are closer to horns than strings, which is a welcome variation. The bridges with the returning ticking of the clocks and the time-related quotes (and near-subliminal sample of Leene's Bell I missed the first time around) keep the mix interesting throughout, and the ending once again features the hypnotic clocks, signifying that history repeats itself, or something like that. I can't think of anything that E-Bison could have improved upon, so he gets an A in my book.

An excellent take on CT's opening theme, plus "Time Management" being its title was a sweet idea. Very nice job.
E-Bison really really rocks. I've had this song for like 5 months or so (actually I've had the non-ocr/non-cut down version) and it is amazing. I LOVE the use of the clocks. The time management samples are used really well also. I think this may be the most professional sounding mix I've heard coming out of OC. I'm a big fan of E-Bison, including his original work that I think people should check out at www.mp3.com/esb Fantastic stuff.
Now where is Suikostep?

E-Bison FINALLY gets his OCR badge.
For a long time, the regulars here at OCR knew that E-Bison was OCR's best kept secret. Let's hope he releases more quality stuff soon, and it gets posted even sooner.
Download this track: HIGHLY recommended.
Well.. I don't know. It's not anything revolutionary, the clock bit was genius, but everything ELSE was completely standard and not really anything that I would listen to twice.
If he had only taken the clock idea further and developed on it, rather than drowning it in fuzzy techno noise. Ah well.

If there were OC remix forums awards, I believe E-bison would thoroughly deserve the WIP one. Not only has he posted a number of fantastic mixes, but he consistently critiques and attentively helps others improve their remixes. When DJP calls E-bison a "newcomer" (as we know he always does with anyone's first mix) it is purely figurative.
As for 'Time Management': We all know that time is limited. But a day's work has to be accomplished in the same finite 24 hours we each have. Some of us do it. Most do some of it. Some others procrastinate. And some never get around to it.
And one of us, Mr. E-Bison, turns all the clocks back and makes us wonder how he ever got it done.

Love it... enough to drag me out of lurking just to say kudos! I've also got to say I'm enjoying how more and more mixers on this site are including lyrics in their music lately... (or maybe it's my imagination?) Ahhh, but at any rate I can tell I'll be listening to this one for awhile now. Beautiful beautiful. :D

Cool! I wondered for so long why this one wasn't getting accepted. I love it the first time i heard it. I was singing its praises 2 minutes into the song. And it just got better from there on out. I'm so glad this one made it.
Anytime someone says "four on the floor" about anything, its gonna catch my attention. Just cuz I likes those kinda trannys :). But considering I had heard this one a couple months ago, from your FTP, it has been a permanent part of my playlist.
Highly reccomended track!

I thought it was quite funny to hear E-Bison referred to as a "newcomer", seeing as how long he's been here and how long I've had his songs. What can I say? This piece is awesome in every way. High-quality samples, interesting arrangement, numerous added bits and an opening that reminds me of Pink Floyd. Nothing to not like about this song. It puts me in a good mood each time I hear it.
Now we just need more of E-Bison's stuff to get through the judges...

Very fucking cool.
I haven't posted in a while 'cause this site is so "bleh," but this is a great idea. I really like this mix. I'd like to see more creative stuff like this, instead of just the mindless techno Fruityloops default patches (though there are a few mixes on the main page that are excellent as well).
Mad props for the use of the clocks, and the self-help stuff. Most delicious. I hope people like this one and appreciate the creativity. Don't support lack-luster music.
Peace. Keep it real, E-Bison. (and maybe change your name..?)

Amazing.
I never knew this sound could be made into something like this, something so sothing and upbeat at the same time. The song sounds a bit like Trance but I like it. Takes this song to a new level that wont be matched by anyone anytime soon.
Hope to see more from ya man! This is freakin awesome!!!

I loved it. Hope to hear more from you soon E-bison. This stuff is A++ this song in particular put me in a state of weird mind for some odd reason. It put me in a different world. It's good to hear good music like this. And I hope you continue to stay in this genre. Heh.

I really dig this track, I downloaded it earlier in the morning (I guess about a day ago now) and only got to listen to it a few times, but now that i'm up again and doing the music/chill thing I've checked it out a few more times. Of course, like everyone else, I really like the clocks, ALOT! They are very well done, and 6 different samples, none the less! By the time the the intro is done with, I dont know where my brain is.
I think actually my favorite part which (i dont beleive has) has yet to be mentioned, is a couple parts where you can hear the Epoch dissapear through time. It's always been a staple of the CT remix, but in this one is sounds particularly cool to me.
The one i'm referring to is at - 4:23
Anyway, great job E-Bison. Keep it up! 8)

O WOW!! i must admit that i was completely taken aback by this mix. I really dont follow most of the WIP's, mostly because i recently started posting and listening more actively to this site, but knowing that this song was available to listen to well before it was posted causes me to kick myself several times over. The clocks in the beginning were absolute genoius, i felt like they were all around me! Usage of the self help quotes were great, along with the game sounds. A++ work there Bison, I look forward to listening to mre you ur stuff

I think everyone here has pretty much put the phrase "wow, I made a kick ass remix. These guys like me!" in your head :P
But allow me to say...
this track oughta be played at some big huge event...like um... a 4th of July laser show??
...wait, there's more to this track? SEND IT MY WAY!
ive been following this since E-Bison's WIP and i must say i love it.
The clocks, the Epoch, the self-help: all the samples were great

Yes, yes, yes! Very well done. It's nice to hear a high energy CT mix, especially one that's done so well, with marvelous game and voice samples. Bravo.
And am I the only one that's reminded of Back to the Future by the clocks at the beginning?
First off I will say that I haven't heard the extended version, and I hear that it's better than the cut down version hosted here.
Elsewise it's a good piece. The clock idea was novel, although like someone said before it could of been used more in the song. The track does drag on quite a bit however. This I hear is better in the extended version, and I will have to track down it in order to judge that. The inclusion of the "time management" quotes was brilliant though, and I really liked that part of the track.

Nice beat and great sounding.. It's really nicely done.. The voices add the concept of 'time management' as others have said which puts it higher in my books.. I would say that is a great remix and that you would probably like it, techno fan or not..

doody doo. haven't heard the extended version. but these piece... doesn't do well the last 2 minutes in my book.
at
4:21, when the epoch shoots off into time i think would've been the perfect ending.
the following 2 minutes is all stuff that was repeated. would love to get a hold of that extended version though.
though, while that version maybe superior
this version, its just too damn long.
up to that 4:21 moment, a masterpiece though. Love the voice samples. love the clocks. extremely high quality, definitely get multiple listens, but will prolly cut it down myself before it makes it to a cd. ^^;
Kudos to Bison.

Hey Guys! Thanks for the Great Reviews! I'm glad most of you enjoyed the track. All your kind words make me want to do more VG stuff.
For those who didnt like the track. Im sorry. If it's to long / repetitive or whatever. The structure made sense when I put it together the first time.
Thanks again.
Keep your eye out for my FF1 Trance Stuff. I hope to do some interesting stuff with those themes, now that the game has been re released.
From the start I knew this was gonna be awsome. The clicking sounds are cool and the way you enter it is just true form of trance madness. Then you enter the main melodie very happily. meloing down, with voice sample, then bringing the beat back altering the melodie just a tad to match the trance style your using and to make it a little more interesting. Ah, breaking it down again with those ticking sounds then bringing it back heavyer with a counter melodie and such. Nice sound as well. I knew you were gonna end with those clickin' sounds...thats what I would have done. Well AWSOME job, this is a keeper for me.
It also makes me want to start remixing again, in this gender in particular.
Peace out.

Truly a mark of brillance in the realm of trance. It could easily be fit into one of Oakenfold's or Sasha's mix CDs. The vocals in the background remind me of the one's found in Hooverphonic's Autoharp, and add nicely to the mix.

I liked the use of clocks in this mix, very well done - top-notch samples, I must say. The voice samples were cool too, cute and appropriate. And the use of other CT sounds just brought a big grin to my face. All around a fun, great to listen to mix that makes us CT fans smile. :D

Before I start ranting and raving, I just want to make clear that I like this mix. It's neat, the fact that he managed to make real clock sounds into percussion is neat, and the quotes are neat, and all of it fits with the music.
However, in the ENTIRE 6 and a half minutes of the song, you left out the best part of the song, indeed the best part of the entire CT soundtrack. In fact, it's the best part of human musical achievement! Six and a half minutes of the song and you left THAT out! AAAAAARRRRGGHGHHBLBLHBHLBERGBLE!!
I've been searching, through MIDIs, and this site, for YEARS to find a remix that does the end of chrono's theme justice, and I was sure this would have been it, if you had included it at ALL. It seems the original rgm is still the best rendition out there
(yes, I've heard the chrono cross theme with the neato violin thing and all. I still like the CT version better.)

The clocks at the beginning, are in my opinion the greatest element of this song. They keep a constant rhythm throughout the entire song. I really like songs that start out slow and speed up as the song goes on. This starts out just that way. I really love the first 1:18 of the song. I love playing it at a high volume.
The voice clips are very decent and go along with the song quite well. Someone wondered what the first clip said, and I think I can make out some of it. I think it says:
"All those dreams of the past, those dreams of falling and flying, of the constant (something) into the world of astral travel."
I think I hear "rememberance" in there somewhere, but I'm not sure. The second one is easy to understand. I really like the sword sound after it, around 4:21. All in all, this is a very well made song. It's one of my favorites, and I'm glad to make it my first review.
The song slows down perfectly, going in reverse to how it started, with each clock stopping.
Great job E-Bison!

I think DJ pretzel summed it all up. The mixing of the clocks in and out at the beginning and exit of the song was a great touch, the theme of time management (Self-help tapes) was a nice flair too. Dropping in the heavy bass at the beginning was a great touch, right into the make-you-wanna-breakdance section. All and all, everything was done nicely to keep it consistently interesting. I've never seen so much work go into a techno song. Kudos to you, Bison-sama.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say this is my favorite remix on the entire site. It's got a flavor and intensity that I haven't found in any other song.
There are two things that really make this song for me--
1. The clocks (of course). Fitting with Time Management and the entire Chrono Trigger bit, using clocks (at least in some sections) as the base for the beat was a little bit more than just "clever" in my opinion. The sampling and reworking of the clocks shows, and I never imagined that the right combination of clocks and such could work out to such a kickin' beat.
2. The Dot-Matrix printer thing. For some reason, whenever someone says "Time Management" now I think of this song, and the main three notes the dot-matrix thing does throughout the song. It really adds the heart to this song which, I must confess, would just be a bunch of technoish stuff to me if it weren't there.
Admittedly, there are a few things I don't *love* about the song, but they're pretty minor. The synth whatever that is going on tends to wear on the listener a bit when it isn't accompanied by the... printer sound.
Unlike others, I don't find the song "too short" at all. I really couldn't see any other way to put this song together in the way it's constructed. It seems complete and balanced to me... But again, I really like this song so I'm a little partial.
The "Dreams of the past" quote is just damn cool too and fits perfectly in with the music. I'm a fan of voice clips and such worked into technoish stuff.
Really nice work on this. Again, I'm gonna go out on a limb and say it's my favorite mix on the entire site.

after learning this song on the piano, I've really respected the original song alot, and I really didn't think that this one provided the right kind of intro...it's just really messy, and chaotic. once the intro is over, the good stuff happens, and that when it does the song complete justice. Much more claming now, and alot better organization. Maybe this sequence was done deliberately portraying that 'time' is all messed up at the beginning and then things clear up and start making sense, then the next sequence of the song isn't so much chaotic, but more complicated.....I love those vocal clips, and I really like the ending.

Six clocks? Couldnīt have been six bells, thatīs more beautiful. Well, itīs Bisons remix, I should not complain.
Groovy trance mix dude, and the clocks really did melt together, especially at the end where it ends with the same clock rhytm as the beginning, the remix starts over again and you dont even know it. Smart. 8)
But as for the rest of it, I donīt really know if I like it or not, although this is a time management, I didnīt really like that newsreader voice. But this song had all it all that the other trance remixes on this site has, so this ainīt bad, those who like trance, listen to it and youīre stuck.
By the way, I thought I had heard that clock around 4:04 before, and now I know: Itīs from the beginning of the game.
I will keep an eye out for your FF1 stuff.
Nice work Bison.

This mix has really withstood the test of time for me. When I first heard it I was hooked. I have since listened to it many, many times and shared it with others and it still takes me for a ride every time.
The clocks and time management clips really ground this mix with the source game (it's all about time, after all) and the ethereal/other-worldly quality of the mix is enhanced nicely by the astral projection clip.
The clock sample beats are a real cool effect and tie the piece together very well.
The samples sound great and make this mix a wonderful trance-fest. A longer mix (perhaps live?) would be great for coding. This mix is by no means boring, though, with its samples and effects moving throughout the piece in the ways of the truly great trance mixes.
The samples from the game are also a very nice touch, reminding me of the hours I spent in high school, sitting in front of my friend's SNES, playing through all of the endings in this great game.
Did I mention that I love this mix? :-)

I haven't shown my face around here in a long time. Glad to see that people are still enjoying my work years after I left OCR.
I came back because I produced a Videogame Themed Ska album with my Band www.tentoomany.com
I thought you guys would get a kick out of the concept art as well as the subject matter.
You can check out "Princess Mario" at our Myspace:
www.myspace.com/tentoomany
A track about a guy who falls in love with princess Toadstool.
There is another Epic Ska anthem for nerds, all about MMOs Link Here Check it out. If you've ever been told you play too many games, this one is for you.

I'm still composing and producing a lot. Nothing that would do well on the OCR boards, even if it sometimes is related to videogames.
The Album is called "Multiplyer Madness" One look at this picture and you'll see why we got our name and where we got our title.

If Ten Too Many did an actual video game music arrangement, I'm pretty sure it'd go over well, Eliot.
As for this original stuff inspired by a love for games, I'd post a link to it in Works: Other forum and see if anyone bites. No need to be pessimistic about it. I listened to "Princess Mario" off TTM's MySpace, and it's a well put together track. I loved "Mullet Man" in particular.

But my band does a lot of videogame covers live. Fans love it and we love playing it. I even got on national television talking about videogame cover bands and our new album.
For legal reasons we opted to not to record any of them in the studio. On our last album we got the rights to a Duran Duran track and it was a big pain. I can't imagine how crazy it would be to secure the rights to the Tetris theme or something else like it.
Has anybody on here ever tried to get performance rights for this stuff? Recording rights?

Hey E-bison. Just a quick comment before I begin: when I came on these forums and read that there was an extended version of the song, I immediately went out a searched for it. The site I found it on is currently down (I think it was VGmix) but there's an alternate link at http://www.rpgamer.com/games/chrono/ct/sounds/mp3/TimeManagement(E-Bison).mp3 if anyone's interested. The intro is a bit more repetitive in the longer version, but overall the song is much enhanced by the added length. For instance, there's an entire electric guitar solo right after the second speaking segment ("Those who get things done and do them well know the right way, and that is time management") that was omitted for the OCRemix edition.
The song itself is genius. It is without a doubt my #1 favorite track on the entire site. It takes the main melody and adds a personal spin on it without making it completely unrecognizeable. I really don't know exactly why I like it so much, but I end up playing it all the time because it's so awesome. 8 minutes of pure bliss. Basically, I agree with everything paperCrane said a few posts up, and then some. As with AboveTheDust, I too love the "dot matrix printer" effect, and the part that features nothing but that sound is actually one of my favorite segments of the song.
Once again, great job, and awesome track. Truly a track that will be on my playlist for years to come.

I usually don't like Chrono's theme mixes but this.. Ahahaa.. I love it! In particular, 2:59-3:03 When it has the sound of the Epoch charging up and changing time periods, then the tick tick tick of the clock. like it's flying through the time stream. wicked sounding! The other part i really liked was with the 3:57-4:24 with everything fading out but the bell and the beat, like they made a stop over the millenial fair, then flew off to another time at the end, the epoch warp sound again. <3 excellent mix!

MARVELOUS! I love this remix in so many ways that it's hard to keep one train of thought on one aspect going before I think of something else I want to say about it.
To pack it all into a little rectangle of words,
Excellent song concept,
Excellent song title,
Excellent mixing,
Excellent excellence!
I would have to give massive humungous props to the "clock solo" at 3:04 to 3:32. That heavy kick and slamming clock beat was simply one of the most amazing combinations of sounds I have ever heard.
Vocals are beautifully done and are actually quite inspiring in some senses.
E-Bison be rockin' the house!

This is one outstanding mix. I love the beginning with the clock and the self help tape message. I would like to know what the tape says though. First time I heard, I fell in love with it.

Man, this song's been on my playlist forever. I never seem to get tired of it. Yeah, there are plenty of chrono trigger mixes around, but this easily one of my favorite. I'm not always a fan of 4 on the floor, but E-Bison pulls it off in a fashion that doesn't grate on me.
Combination of solid production and constantly evolving arrangement really makes this song shine out. Creative use of voice clips here too - another thing I normally don't care for, but pulled off great here. Only bummer to me is the low bitrate due to the length of the mix. I'd really love to hear a higher-quality version.
Overall, well done, this is one song on OCR that's aged extremely well. Looking forward to more of your stuff *cough* xenogears project *cough
EDIT:

Self help lyrics as best I can hear them:
We all know that time is limited
That a day's worth has to be accomplished in the same finite 24 hours that we have
Some of us do it
Most do some of it
Some others procrastinate
And some never get around to it
Those that get things done and do them well know the right way
And that's time management
I like this mix so much because it does something so strange and wonderful. It elevates clocks/clockwork/time to a near mystical level in the same fashion that Lewis Carol did to playing cards and chess pieces. I also like the tape samples; they add a very distinct flavor to this mix and contribute further to the overall mysticalness of time theme of this song.
This truly is an amazing mix that no one should miss.
Some of the higher end frequencies were a bit harsh, but the arrangement was pretty cool, with a lot of personality. Almost 7 min is a long time for a mix, but it was kept interesting with a lot of cool ideas.
Good stuff

Glad you like it! I can't believe how much I used to love melodic trance! This really takes me back.
You are right about the harsh upper mids. Nothing I can do about it now though.
Thanks!

OCR featured this track on its Facebook page today and a few people were wondering about this fabled "extended version." The link was buried a few posts back, but here it is again for anyone still looking!
Unfortunately it's only 128kbps but hey, better than nothing!

EDIT: Forgot to mention, this has long been one of my favorite OCR tracks. Thanks E-Bison for making MANY of my workouts much more enjoyable! :D
