View Full Version : Sample Request
DISO a high quality symphonic bass drum (soundfont, wav, whatever works). I need a higher quality sample of the drum in this song:
Dominion of the Ghost Pirates (http://uhaweb.hartford.edu/bbennett/dominion%20of%20the%20ghost%20pirates.mp3)
Hear how it sounds really synthetic and metally? thats because I had to lower it more than 1 octave to get the tone I was looking for.

I would like some good distorted guitar samples, all the ones ive found don't sound that great.
OK, this is more of a request on how to sample sounds out of games using emulators, particularly little grunts the character may make when swinging a sword or a spell sound or chime or something. So, how do I sample sounds out of games using an emulator(Zsnes).

I have just checked ZSNES and it doesn't appear to have an option for writing outputed audio to disk. But that's just fine, assuming you're using Windows (because it's what I use).
Go into your Windows volume control window thingy. Go Options -> Properties. Select the radio button called "Recording". Make sure "Wave" (or similar) is checkmarked in the below list. Click OK. Now, under "Wave", make it selected. Now your computer will record all wave output.
Open a program that records sound--sound recorder will work just fine. Start recording. Then just go to zsnes and make whatever sound you need.
The one problem is music... which is more than likely there. I don't know if you can disable music with zsnes, but I don't think you can. Try another emulator maybe?

In search of a vibraphone. Same sound as the one in When It Falls by Zero 7 or Instant Death by Beastie Boys.
*edit* Listening to When It Falls I guess it's not a vibraphone, probably an e-piano. I would still like to have an e-piano like that. And still the vibraphone from Instand Death.

Check one of the many links posted that included soundfonts. I'm sure you won't have trouble finding a good EP (it might be called just a Rhodes)
I have a General purpose sound font called Musica Theoria (it basically replaces the general MIDI instrument library with much better sounding instruments)... it contains (in my opinion) a quite good sounding Rhodes E. Piano.

As a bit of trivia, I believe the E Piano is quite similar in design to the vibraphone. The E Piano strikes metal bars that vibrate too, but the vibrations are picked up by EM pickups and then amplified.

Here's a dry electric guitar sound I found from a Finnish music board. You'll have to add the distortion effects yourself, but if you know what you're doing, it'll definitely sound better than a synth.
Try looking through http://www.buzzmachines.com if you lack of proper distortion effects.
Just to alert everyone searching for decent samples that there is a new release of the Titanic Soundfont, now v1.2. It's slightly larger than the previous, with total unpacked size about 275MB. One of the largest and highest-quality GMGS sets available, this new revision features several reworked orchestral instruments (trumpets, violins, etc) as well as revised pads and synth leads.
The font can be downloaded from http://www.titanicsf.com.

.sfpack is a soundfont compression format. You need to download the sfpack utility to decompress them into .sf2 files. Think of it like zip or rar.
Good piano samples? Search for "1-Giga Piano", that's one of my favorites. NS Piano, by Natural Studios (makers of NSKit, one of the most popular free drum kits) is another good one that's a little softer. You might also consider the steinway grand soundfont I have up at the SoundTempest resource section (http://www.soundtempest.net/).
What's more important than the sample, though, is how you use it. For piano leads, you should try to humanize the velocity or even record the part with a MIDI controller if it's sounding too mechanical. The piano samples I mentioned are also dry, so room/hall reverb is a must. You might even consider applying compression or EQ to further sculpt the sound. It all depends on the context of the piano part.
Anyone have a good techno/trance drum soundfont? I need something like that... or do people use VSTs for techno drums? :?:

We use samples and vstis for techno drums - what kind of techno drums are you looking for? Glitchy, Tribal, funky-techno, Hard?
Iono, interested in a variety of different styles, but at the moment I'm mostly looking for some typical dance drums. Especially trying to find a good strong hi-hat sound, one that how do you say, has some meat on it. A good full sound. Realistic drum soundfonts don't seem to have this, I mean the type heard in dance music.
Also, I'm looking for some asian / Korean sounding instruments. I'm going to remix Ancient Groover (http://members.cox.net/leggiero/20.mp3) from Ragnarok Online and I'm looking for some sort of flute and string instruments reminiscent of the ones used in it.
zircon

Download my drum packs at www.soundtempest.net, in the resources section. Included are all the classic drum sounds. What you want are 808 and 909 drum samples, basically, which are readily available almost anywhere.
Thanks.
As for the korean instruments, I downloaded a shakuhachi font, and it seems like it'll do the job for the korean bamboo flute thing. Trying to find a good silk string instrument sounding thing. I've downloaded a shamisen soundfont, and it sounds alright. http://www.sf2midi.com/index.php?page=sdet&id=3763
But I'm trying to find one that sounds a little more.. metallic I guess. What would be really nice is one where it sounds considerably more twangy and metallic on higher velocities.

The percussive section at http://hammersound.net should be able to get you hooked up with a good set from one of the many drumpacks there.
Otherwise, search http://www.sf2midi.com for triangle. you'll probably get a whole bunch of GM sets. I recommend downloading Cadenza or Merlin if you don't have them already. I'm sure one of those has a decent triangle sound in the percussion. If you find it, you can just cut the instrument out using vienna.

Looking for a shamisen sample, something that sounds dry, preferrably. It's hard to find good ones and the one previously posted in Miku's link isn't good enough. Perhaps someone that has Japanese music would be kind enough to rip a sample?
I need a good, full, loud and obnoxious sounding trumpet and trombone. Think of the kind you would find in a ska song, as that's what I'm making a mix of. Orchestral ones just don't quite cut it.
DM Lee
08-22-2004, 07:09 AM
Play with your eq my friend, youd be surprised what you can do.
Also, the reason for ska sounding so different is the way its played. Ska is meant to sound live. Unless your really recording its gonna be a tough challenge. If you want your brass to sound a little honkier (that obnoxiousness) you may want to try boosting the 250 hz range a bit. At least, thats if i remember right. Also, you can try adding slight flange or chorus or something like that to give it a slightly more human feel. Get used to editing the amp envelopes from note to note. Ska is just waaaay to real to easily recreate digitally. Its like guitar stuff. Its just better to go live.

FL has nothing to do with it. It's probably the way you are using them. Almost no soundfont sounds good by itself; you NEED to use effects, especially reverb, to make them usable. It's absolutely essential.

I used "Ovation" and "ProTrax Classical Guitar" (one is nylon, one is steel) for quite some time as SF2. I'm using other resources for guitars now (sample packs or a real one), but I'm sure you can still find it over at Hammersound. "Ovation" is like 4MB bi (RAR) and ProTrax is like 7,4MB (RAR).
Don't trust the feedback at Hammersound, though. Most of them said "bah... bad recordings", but if you add a bit more presence and "know" how to play, you won't get anything better for free.
DM Lee

I was messing around with ovation the other day and it is very good. all you need is the proper eq, reverb, and velocity adjustments and note placement (i get the feeling most of the bad reviews are from the people who would write a guitar chord with every note hit at once and shit like that lol)
You just have to think about how it would sound if you were actually playing the song on a guitar. how your hand would hit harder on the bass strings on the way down and harder on the high strings (and missing the low strings practically) on the way up.
Strumming... hahaha... good luck, but it can be achieved well enough to fool some people so give it a try. and again, not much your gonna find better for free so listen to compy.

Or no background info how a guitar is build and played. The chords on a guitar may "sound" the same as those on a keyboard. But the keyboard uses less notes at the same time.

I used the Ovation and ProTrax guitar in one of my latest WIPs, but please don't ask me to post it as it isn't nearly finished. The feedback from guitarists and non-guitarists however were very positive and almost all of them asked "what samples did you use" as I send them the demo.
You see... those samples can't be that bad. Even if they're smaller than 10MB (RAR packed). It only counts a little bit of patience and "eager to search for things" to it to find really good material. Sometimes I feel the same as DMLee that most of the requesters are too lazy and await "spoon-feeding". Oh well...

Some more drum samples for those interested. Aimed more at the hard trance sound, these kicks are pretty decent. A bit iffy on the snares.

@DJ Zenith:
Try to get "Sonic R" for PC (or at least a Demo), it has some original Sega Samples as *.wav in it. (among them the classical "ring collecting" sound)
Or try to record it via an emulator with the BG switched off - or the soundmenus you can access. The Dreamcast and GameCube games "Sonic Adventure" also have a sound menue who have the same classic Genesis sounds, too. (you can find that at "options").
<_< I could really use a decent bagpipe sound...

Just a question... why does everyone stroke it to Squidfont? I don't see what the fuss is. Case in point? Listen (http://tsg.avalanchestudios.net/music/squidportrait.mp3) to these strings. Am I the only one who thinks that sounds like crap? No effects added to eximplify a point. Oh yeah, the other instruments are missing notes, because the samples don't run the full range of the instrument. Brilliant.

Exactly... you can do a lot with Squid if you know how. Look at some older stuff here at OCR where the Orchestra parts were made with Squid (I guess even Kaijin used that one). Everything sounds a bit flat if it's raw. But right EQed and the right delay/reverb and you're set.
Hell even my EMU Virtuoso (hardware orchestra synth) needs effects layers! Or the EDIROL HQ Orchestra... without Delay (do let it sound more wide) and reverb (to let it sound deep), and best if you stack it to like 4 subgroups, you simply can't expect to get an outstanding effect.
Besides... you can't expect a Viola go into the range of a Cello. Think about how an orchestra is built up, then bitch around again.
And if you want something without effects, get samplepacks for 400+ bucks and upwards! But if you want something for free... live with it and find a way to shape your sound to the desired level. 'nuff said.
EDIT:
And if you still don't like Squid. There're still tons of other "free" SF2s out there in the orchestra section. Use the search function from the board as I mentioned this sometime. We can't spoon-feed everyone. Some little researches are also important.

I've heard this said (re: poor sound quality) said about Reason's samples as well, but with effects and EQing, they can be tweaked well.
Here's a dumb question. Does anyone have guidelines to make these things "sound better"? I confess, I'm still new at this all and I still need to develop my ear, but any knowledge would be more useful than none. This is a slightly (actually, a pretty dramatically) OT question so if it is let me know and I'll start a new thread instead.
Thank you for your attention.

There are tons of resources here at OCR on how to make your stuff 'sound better', just search around and EXPERIMENT. But I'll say this for now: a little reverb goes a long way.

Do researches. Simple and easy.
With this you can understand how an orchestra works, how the ambience is, how everything is set up and stuff.
Most samples are recorded RAW or as clean as possible. Now how does this sound in a concert hall? An orchestra has rules, instruments have rules, different rooms have rules. This is the thing that you want to fake and you have to work on.
I won't spoonfed here as I had to learn this for myself and it worked really well in other productions for understanding what to do and what not. We even had some topics about mixing, EQ, orchestra and stuff here at OCR. You just have to search. And if this doesn't help: books... or go over to "Sound on Sound" online and search in the article archives. (you can find at least 3-5 articles about that there)

I need a woodblock, one that can sound good in about a 2 octave range.
i do believe there were some fonts at hammersound...
It says there's some on the index page but when you click on the link there isn't any on the sub-page. Four pages of google and I couldn't find one that wasn't either a broken link or a proprietary format.
I guess I could use one from a GM soundfont. Recommendations?
DM Lee
10-19-2004, 09:22 AM
are you looking for a woodblock you can pitch up and down?
You'd probably be able to do this if you just find a wav sample of a woodblock and just pitch it how you want.
If you can't find a good sample, then go to hammersound and check through a lot of the drumkits (i dont mean just look for a woodblock drumkit, i mean look at the regular drumkits that may have woodblocks in them) until ou find a good sounding woodblock then make a single strike of the block at like 280 bpm so you can get a short sample (should give a smaller file size this way) and just export it to wav and use it this way. (make sure you have the volume adjusted because the wav sample will be at the volume exported but then when you load the sample the channels volum will be down to 75% or whatever again.

Forget it to find an outstanding Kodo (Taiko) for free. There is one from Roland with around 100k (I guess it was from the SR88), but this is a synthetic one. One of the best Kodo samples I've ever heard were in the "Heart of Asia" AKAI CD pack for like 300bucks, that is also included as "light version" in the (I gues it were the) Spectrasonics Packs (the CDs for like 50-100bucks each) with only one layer though.
But I at least know for sure that Hammersound and sf2midi has some really good asian samples (handpercussion, strings, flutes and stuff). So check out those pages too.

Ever since SMW Ghost was released I've been inspired to start learning to sequence brass with midi. I'll start by requesting some soundfonts that are close to the very high quality that Nixdorux uses. So does anyone have any suggestions for free high quality brass and sax soundfonts? I'd like to use something different besides what's on Darkesword's page for saxaphones. I'll create my own thread (http://www.ocremix.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=1227635#1227635) asking others how to sequence brass using midi.

Finally! I've been always looking for ethnic instrument samples (especially those from a Chinese orchestra), though to little avail. I have an Erhu and a Di at home, but can't really play it well enough to sample my own. (In the case of the "Di", it's a rare occurance for me to even make a sound :P). Unfortunately, the Erhu seems to be the only non-percussion instrument they have a soundfont, but it has so many articulations that I'm well satisfied for the day (they even have some sfxes that can made w/ the Erhu). Thanks a lot, man!
I'm looking for some drum samples that sound kinda.. iono.. industrial, dirty, something like that. Something like in SGX's Kick Your A (http://www.ocremix.org/detailmix.php?mixid=OCR01156) and Beatdrop's Strip Mine (http://www.ocremix.org/detailmix.php?mixid=OCR01214). That and/or pointers on how to get that sort of sound with processing and whatnot.
Speaking of which, what exactly is drum layering? I hear that all the time but I'm not sure what it is. Is it what it sounds like it means, i.e. different drum samples playing in unison?
EDIT: Zircon answered that question in another thread. I was right in my assumption, hooray.
=X nobody?
Just a link to a site where I can get drum samples in general would help too. Preferrably not soundfonts, but if I have to I'm sure there are programs for extracting individual samples from soundfonts.

A website with some drum samples/loops
Doru Malaia has some great one-shot drum samples (as well as loops, though they may or may not be drumloops); they are WAVs which can come packaged either in ZIPs or ReFills (for all the Reason users out there). Check it out:
http://www.dorumalaia.com/freerefillswavsamples.htm
Also, BreakBeat Paradise (www.breakbeat-paradise.com) has a fairly large sample library, which sports both drumloops and drumkits (available as compressed WAVs), among other samples one might find handy. Don't let the name fool you; they have samples useful for many genres, such as Trance, DnB, RnB, House, Hip Hop, etc.
As for me, I'm looking for drum samples to use in Industrial music. Anybody know where I can get some for free? If industrial is too broad of a term, I have in mind stuff like DarkeSword's "Stranger In the Desert" (release available at VGMix) or the Phazon Mines BGM from Metroid Prime, though anything you would consider industrial is welcome.
[EDIT: I PMed DarkeSword about his samples; they're available at www.soundfonts.darkesword.com as a soundfont. Now I need to find a way to extract samples from soundfonts.. help please?]

Also, if you're looking for a program to reverse it in, check out GoldWave (PC only, www.goldwave.com should do the trick). Hope that helps.
I used goldwave before but I didn't really like it that much. Thanks anyway.

Does anybody remember the free Maestro series of soundfonts? I can't seem to find them anymore  and I am in dire need of a realistic clarinet soundfont because the ones I have just don't do the trick.
If anybody could locate or perhaps send me the Maestro Clarinet soundfont, I would be very very grateful.

Yes, unfortunately the Maestro site (http://exce.ath.cx/~route909/listen.html) is down at the moment. And I haven't been able to find any mirrors. So you'll just have to wait, I guess.

I'm looking for one big soundfont or NN-19/XT refill for Reason which includes all instruments.
String, Percussion, Brass, Woodwind, Synths, SFX, Choirs, and maybe ethnic instruments.
Basically I'm looking for something like the setzer's SNES soundfont except a bit higher quality... as in not the restrictions of the SNES. Something that is basically what an old midi keyboard would come with or what any cheap midi program would have. It would be as if I was trying to make midi-sounding music without using a midi program (like Reason).
Anyone know of anything like this? Is there any way to use default midi soundfonts?

I'm presuming that you want a General MIDI set in a soundfont?
Try:
http://www.personalcopy.com/
I've never used it for actually making music, but I used the PC51 soundfont to try to improve the quality of my General MIDI playback through my SB Live!.

I'm not sure what your problem is, Argitoth. Are you saying you can't find the default MIDI soundfont or that you don't know how to use it in Reason.
If you wanted to know where you could find the default soundfont, I can't really help you, but if you have it and now just need to know how to use it, you're in luck; I was having the same problem not all too long ago.. NNXT can play sf2 files. Load it up as you would a normal sample.
Also, Redrum can load up sf2 files as well. Load the sounds individually like they were wav files you wanted to insert into a kit.

Yeah... I'm human by myself and need help too.
You see, there's this nifty Roland XV5080 synthesizer that I can't afford at the moment (1200 bucks is still a lot of money) and I fell in love with the oldschool sounds. So much for the intro.
I'm not only looking for a VSTi with similar sounds (will post that in the specific thread too, so don't worry) but I'm also looking for samples from some specific drumsets. Especially the acoustic kit, the RUST Kit (boy how do I love this) and all other HipHop Kits in that device.
I already tried the Roland XV5080 Refill for Reason but this is basicly the acoustic only (and I don't want to rewire Reason just for this specific term). I've also searched at the most known SF2 pages but couldn't find a fitting drumset for my needs.
If you know a page where to get the samples, or you have a XV5080 and can sample for me the RUST Kit from it, this would really help. If you can't find anything, don't bother - I'm sure I'll find a solution (wit heavy compression and saturation). It's just that I'm lazy at the moment. ;)
Thanks in advance.
I'm looking for the vocals of Cancao do povo from Grandia II. I've tried to find them on the original game disks and googled around a bit, but can't seem to find them. Can someone help me?

haha i think you should stick with the WST25FStein, it's a good soundfont. It only needs a little EQ'ing love to make it sound brighter. Heck, i used it in my KiC mix.

Ok, I'm looking for a whole bunch of stuff.
Some good quality, acoustic, clean electric and distorted guitar sounds. Some good hats and cymbals and some good tom drums. A lot of crash cymbal and tom sound samples lack a lot of depth, and not the kind of depth that you can repair with acoustic modelling.
Also, any brass and string ensemble fonts would rule (ones where it sounds like you got 10-20 violinists for instance). I often have this problem with squidfonts where alot of them tend to come in *after the beat*.
Any help greatly appreciated.

I know that song really well... do you mean the staccato square ostinato that plays throughout the song? That just sounds like a short square note being played with delay.
As for my request, I've been messing around with 3xOsc for a while and I haven't come up with a good Hoover sound. Does anyone have any presets/soundfonts to make this sound?

The hoover sound would probally work best, hope you finish creating the sound
also for the pads, the closest one i found is on a korg triton midi keyboard with the instrument named "theatrical pad"

(Off-topic) You can also just select the soundfont on the tree, and drag it into an empty spot on the step sequencer(or overtop an exsisting sample/soundfont).
(on-topic) I probably missed it, but I went through the first 10 pages looking for an organ and didn't see one. Preferably a set of organs so I can pick what I want to use, if anyone knows of any.
(semi-on-and-off-topic) Anyone want to help me go through and catalog all of the links in the thread and then maybe we can talk to someone about getting them put in a single post so people don't have to search through the whole thread to find something? We can divide it up into like sections of 5 pages if we get enough people, and this would really help reduce duplicate requests.

Do you mean free or do you have a budget. Most good piano samples are around $200. There's several very good piano soundfonts out there for free.

I recommend the Clavinova v1 or 2. With proper playing, processing and mastering it can sound amazing. That's if you want a softer more intimate sound.
If you want a sharper, jazzier/pop sound http://www.naturalstudio.co.uk/ns_piano.html this one's pretty good also.
These are significant upgrades to what you used on your submission, so...Have fun. :)

Also, I'm looking for a nice slow bar chimes sound. Not like a single chromatic bell but the kind that percussionists have with their drum kits that sound like wind chimes. The slower the better. Do you mean belltrees? I might have a free one I could share. I would need to look for it first before I can tell for sure. But unfortunately most of them are indeed fast strokes. You would need to either pitch shift it or timewarp it to get the intended effect you're looking for.

Small world. That would be a plain ole windchime, in this case I used Reason's default Orkester with heavy processing (a bit of pitch shift down, time shift to slow it down further, a little bit of delay and double reverb of space warp, and then a hall with finally automated stereo delay + panning).
I think I have a free wav of something similar. I'll need to find it when I have time. I'll pm you about it tomorrow.

I'm looking for soundfonts/samples of some ochestral percussion. I don't know what to call it, but you can hear something similar in the Final Fantasy X OST ("17. Aeon Battle" on the 4th disc). It's the loud and epic percussion throughout the song.
Sorry I couldn't describe it clearly enough (not really musically inclined), so here's a 100kb sample.

Thanks.

The percussion sounds like Timpani drums and cymbals. Orchestral is not exactly my forte so I can't be too specific but there are some decent timpanis in the Squidfont Orchestral soundfont on Darkesword's soundfont site (http://soundfonts.darkesword.com/). Those drums are common enough that you can probably find some good free ones in the percussive or drumkit section of Hammersound (http://www.hammersound.net/) also.

Looking for a theremin sample. I have a VST so far that does the job, but it doesn't sound authentic enough. I think it's probably the best I'll get, but I'm just wondering if somebody knows where something better might be located.

Cool. I already had squidfont, just didn't realise it had what I wanted. Roland Orchestral Rhythm is quite good as well.

Yeah, belltrees. Hopefully I wouldn't have to slow it down too much. I just rememebred where I heard a really great one on OCR and coincidentally its GrayLightning's Return of the Pheonix (http://www.ocremix.org/detailmix.php?mixid=OCR01309) mix. Right at the beginning are some beautiful chimes. A free sample would be great but I'd be willing to pay for one if I could be pointed in a good direction.
Sorry it took a while, I've been busy. I've uploaded the first version now in 256kbps mp3 and wav format. ChimesA.mp3 (http://www.geocities.com/thegraylightning/ChimesA.mp3)
Edit: Geocities keeps invalidating the wav format. If you really need the wav format I could send it to you directly. The high encoding of the mp3 sounds good though. ;)
I'll try to put up more free chime variations or kinds when I get the time.

Thanks Gray, the .mp3 sounds great and should work just fine. For anyone else interested, there are some nice windchimes in the Roland Orchestral Percussion soundfont on the site that Gray posted a while ago: guraydere.com (http://www.guraydere.com/soundfonts/sfdetails.aspx?kat=4). They sound good but they are already preprocessed with some reverb and panning.

Free ethnic samples, especially ones as uncommon as those, are not easy to come by, if they even exist. I recommend slapping some dough down and purchasing some.

I wondered if anyone who has a Yamaha P200 (or possibly 250) keyboard, could make a soundfont of the Grand Piano 1 and EGP 3 (I think it's 1 & 7) put together, or of just the EGP 3. (7). Or, if someone has a soundfont that sounds like that combination, maybe could point me to it. thanks!
Could anyone reccomend a good magazine that comes with sample CD's? I know of a few, but subscriptions to these are expensive, so If I could get any reccomendations, it would be appreciated. To me, the content of the magazine would be just as important as the quality of samples usually included.
I just figured I'd post in this thread because my request is mainly focused on the samples.
Thanks for any reccomendations.

Not really a samples request, but I figure some of you might know.
Does anyone know how I can unpack sfpack files on Mac OS X?
Apparently, the sfpack author has mysteriously disappeared as well, so a lot of people are concerned about the sfpack format. In any case I found a program for "sfark", but no sfpack files.
In the meantime I will fire up my old PC to unpack the files but if anyone knows an easier way I'd be ecstatic to hear about it. Thanks!

Also, can anyone make or does anyone have soundfonts that sounds like these two keyboards?

oh sorry mb  :?
I REALLY need..
Strings (violin mainly) that sound good and don't have a long attack time. I have some decent sounding soundfonts for strings, but none of them can do anything faster than a quarter note without being cut off entirely because of the attack time.
Clean sounding trombone/trumpet/french horn/any orchestral brass. I have a few, but of course, they just don't fit what I want. I have squidfont but those don't do much for me. I have that 'joshua melodic trumpet' but I can't seem to get that to produce the sound I want, no matter how much I change the equalizer or add effects.
The sound I'm going for is something for an orchestral piece.
That's all for now. Thank you for whatever you may so graciously give me.

Papelmedia has some nice strings with a fast attack (papelmedia.de). There's also a nice wide string ensemble at sf2midi.com called "Strings2.sf2".
For brass, visit projectsam.com. They offer great brass demos.
Hope that helps.

Thanks

I have a few crowd samples (http://www.wam.umd.edu/%7Eblbush/Crowd.zip)from a soundfont that I found somewhere that are ok. You'll have to loop them because they are relatively short. I could send the soundfont which alreay has the looping also if that would be better. I would also check findsounds.com (http://www.findsounds.com/). Sometimes they have just what I'm looking for.

Thanks Harmony...but that's not quite what I was looking for. The samples I found on findsounds.com seem to be more of the applause persuasion. I want something more like, the sound of an army yelling as it charges.
I appreciate the help though, thanks.

I'm currently in the planning stage of my first remix, and for the first part I need a few sound effects. I'm looking for them myself ATM through Google, but a nudge in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.
The sounds I need: Various chainsaw noises
Walking/running on grass
Panting and heavy breathing as if someone's running
Male voice shouting "Oh God help me!" or similar
Blood splattering or suitable surrogate
Ripping through flesh
Any help, as said, would be greatly appreciated.

I'm looking for a nice distorted guitar sound, but wet distortion. Very ambient, and relaxing kind of distortion, not metal. I tried changing around the FL Slayer samples but they're not really what I'm looking for. A guitar with wet distortion which will work well in ambience

Hmmm... I'm on vacation right now, but when I get back in a few days, I could try and dig some up, or maybe even record some on my PC at home. Not promising anything though. You could check www.findsounds.com. That's always a good site for samples.
Oh, and I'm still searching for mags. Anyone?

I'm a fan of Campbell's harpsichord soundfont. (hammersound) You could also try the one in Titanic SF, which is pretty good if I remember.
