The People's Remix Competition 110
PRCv5-6
Hello everyone and welcome to the People's Remix Competition! (www.doulifee.com/prc/PrcSong/PRCcommercial.wmv) Though promising at first, last PRC's Duck Tales related contest resulted with a very meek response in both remixing and voting. But through all this, OneUp managed to scoop a win under his belt.
He's pretty much like me wishing for PRC to end up being as bustling as it was during the previous three seasons. So it's by no surprise that he rooted for a very popular game series and the second Nintendo DS source tune to boot. Altogether now: Juese Belmont, dadadada daa doo-doo dada...

I chose (this song), mostly because I've hummed it countless times when I've spent many hours of grinding bad guys in this excellent DS game. The lead melody really stucks and I really hope this will bring PRC back to it's glory days. Plz people, make me happy!
Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow - Pitch Black Intrusion
MIDI (http://compo.thasauce.net/files/materials/PRC110_pitchblack.mid) | MP3 (http://compo.thasauce.net/files/materials/PRC110_pitchblack.mp3)
I haven't explored much of the Castlevania series as a sequence of games, but as far as the music goes, it actually makes me want to look beyond just Circle of the Moon. This better get a good response, otherwise this kitten will be shedding tears tonight.

That's OneUp's work, not mine. :p Anyway...
GOOD LUCK!

Hmm.... I have an idea for this one.
EDIT: Oh, and if I win again this time, I promise not to pick something from the Star Fox series.

If you like the Star Fox series music, then pick something from the Star Fox Series (should you win).
Chick, he was referring to the fact that the Starfox Command PRC didn't get much of a fluent reception. Maybe he didn't want to go down that route in the future.

And I'm saying that I don't think that the source had a lot to do with the fact that the competition didn't have a lot of entries. I think it had more to do with its timing. This being prime break time for most people, I think we're going to see more entries, regardless of source.
Oh well, I suppose I'll try and get something done for this one.

10 hours left, people. Get those mixes finished so we don't have to extend this round! I did my part. :3
Sadly, that's what we're gonna have to do.

Mmmrgh.
Well, thasauce hasn't been adjusted for the extension yet. Just pointing out.
That's because ThaSauce's login servers are currently down. :\ If it gets sorted out before 5AM EST tomorrow they will be adjusted, otherwise you'll need to host any additional mixes yourself in the thread.

At least someone actually submitted a song before the initial deadline, instead of after it.

Gah, unfortunately I couldn't come up with any good idea's in reasonable time, and I'm really too caught up in other projects, so I'll have to pass. Sorry ;(
Well no one's still submitted much, so it's got another extension. If we don't get another mix by tomorrow at this time, then Ben will win by default.

Well, stomach flu made me miss the original due date, but I suppose I have an entry now.

Agchk. A lot of people around here have been getting that lately, too. I assume you're better, then?
Well, that stomach flu is no match for Chickenwarlord and his competition-entering skills.
The mixing stage is over. Now we go onto voting! To vote, you go to the competition page (http://compo.thasauce.net/rounds/view/PRC110) and fill out the form at the bottom - state which of the two mixes you prefer, with a reasoning attached to them. Contestants don't need to do this as it'll just cancel their vote out. You have until Thursday, January 3rd 2008, 4:59PM EST to make your vote. The winner gets to choose the source tune for PRC111!

Lately this compo has been the world vs. Chickenwarlord in bi-weekly installments. And I keep on losing :(.

You did win the Paper Mario round.
What if you collab'd with the world? What program(s) do you use?
We need to figure out a way to attract more people. Everyone, brainstorm. I need some lemonade and a lawn chair.
EDIT: What if we put topics on vgmix or something?

And OLRemix, they got a topic here... but maybe they're all here allready. They got like 9 contributions on the last compo (including me).

I use Garageband mostly, with the assistance of Anvil Studios occasionally.
It's not a popular setup, but it's completely free.
Time up!
The voting stage is officially over. Now let's see who escaped from Dracula's castle alive and who went one step further in winning a duel against said vampire.
Total number of mixes - 2
Total number of votes - 4 (awww :()
Hightest possible score - 8
It can barely be seen as much of a contest though...
The winner of PRC111 is Hylian Lemon with 7 points!
Well done again Ben! I think we've got all fit in mind that it DOES kind of sound like Chickenwarlord vs the world, but I'm sure we can find some means to fix that. In the meantine, you know the score - PM me your source tune and we'll use that for PRC111.
With that in mind, I'll see you all tomorrow if we've got something ready.

Wait, there were only three votes. o.O
At this point, I think we desperately need some more advertising. I can copy the next topic onto vgmix if nobody else wants to (would we need to get permission from anyone there?).
@chickenwarlord:
Can Garageband import midis? I'm sure we could work something out in the future if you'd like. I assume I'm not allowed to collab with anyone this week, though.
Well, OneUp (the previous winner) voted, and his vote counts twice. Hence, 1x2=2. :p
Still, you are right in that PRC needs more advertising. And since it's unlikely that djp would do much for that, an attempt to hijack VGMix could be a good direction. But with the way things are going, I don't think I'd be the one to do it o_O

Alrighty, I'll ask one of the admins there.
EDIT: They don't even have a PM system. And why can't I find virt here? Isn't he a member? o.o
I guess I could just post it and then run away really fast. With an explanation for the raid, of course... I would feel dumb making a whole topic asking for permission.
You could try VGMix's IRC channel (irc.vgmix.com, same ports that the ETG servers have). virt seemed to hang out there a little more frequently now that VGMix X is up.
Whichever, I'm ready to unleash PRC111 to the world. Are you ready?
