The mixing stage is over! Finally, we got a PRC working on time!

So, here is what we're going to do. You are going to visit the PRC page (http://compo.thasauce.net/rounds/view/PRC111) and cast your vote from there. Out of the five entries, you pick three and file them from first to third with a reasoning attached to them. Contestants are encouraged to do this as this will also grant them a first place vote if they do so. The vote of PRC110's winner (Hylian Lemon) counts twice. You have until Tuesday, January 15th at 4:59AM EST to cast your vote. The winner gets to choose the source material for PRC112!

The People's Remix Competition 111
PRCv5-7
Hello everyone and welcome to the People's Remix Competition! (www.doulifee.com/prc/PrcSong/PRCcommercial.wmv) For two weeks in a row we faced a promising response, but last time's Castlevania related contest once again whipped out a minimum response in which resulted in another episode of "Chickenwarlord versus the World". And amidst that, Hylian Lemon took another win up his sleeve.

We have another first on our hand for this PRC season, and it's in this competition that I am proud to bring you our first Wii source tune! Pack your remotes, nunchuks and power suits everyone, because we're fighting space pirates!

PRC is seriously lacking in Metroidage. We'll have to fix that.

When I landed on Bryyo in Metroid Prime 3, it felt like what Metroid should be. Ancient civilizations, alien plantage, no pesky federation troopers getting in the way. The music really helped the mood; it felt like I was going back down into Kraid.

You people WILL enter this time, or I will use my grapple beam as a taser.

Alas, no MIDI this time. :\ Still, everyone has the capabilities to pick up stuff by ear, right?

GOOD LUCK!

Yes, Tensei-San. If you want to, anyway. ;)

Oh, and Rexy? I just noticed the rules say your "image" is required to be 6MB or less.

THANKS!:D

I don't know if I'll be able to come up with anything this time either, source doesn't really bring any obvious arrangement ideas for me.

I'm not feeling this at all, sorry. Might get something done, but probably not.

Bah, copy-paste can be for the lose. I'll fix that O.o

Oh... no midi. With this source and no midi I'm probably out.
Have no idea have to do those chords, not even that piano melody.

I'd hoped to enter every contest for a while now, but sorry, not this one.

Oh come on! It's not like it's difficult to figure out! The choir melody is so easy! Just write a waltz or something. D:

I think I'll shoot at this one. How long does it have to be? Right now, I'm thinking I have around 2 minutes worth in my head. Is that enough?

Rexy

Yes, a track around 2 minutes long should do good. Welcome to PRC, BTW. :)

If I can find a time when my house is quiet enough to record, I have an idea for this.

Seriously, I suck at that, I don't even know how to properly make a chord. If someone writes it down for me, I might give it a shot.

Started up on a track for this one. Kinda makes me wish I'd played the series past Super Metroid (which I rented and didn't even get very far in, lol)

Hylian Lemon
01-10-2008, 08:20 PM
If Rexy and Mewtation enter (unlikely, but he said he'd at least try), we'd have four entries this week. :D

And to think it started out so disappointingly. I'm not going to bother checking if that's a word.

Regardless of response, I already promised that I'd chip in to the first PRC of the New Year so I hope that kind of helps things move along.

But either way though, there will be an announcement between the results for PRC111 and the beginning of PRC112. This will of course relate to PRC's future, so fingers crossed.

I can now say that I've uploaded my first game remix ever. :D

It's really not that good, I only spent a couple hours on it--but hey, I wanted to contribute SOMETHING to this community at least!

Hylian Lemon

Four entries already...one more promised...another possibly possible...this is shaping up to be a pretty awesome round.

And hey, welcome, Flexstyle! New remixers are always awesome. X3

Now Rexy's got me all excited about the announcement...

Bad news people, I now have no computer on which to mix for next PRC. I also cannot listen to the entries added after mine, at the moment. I hope that all goes well during the voting stage.

Voted. Get voting if you haven't yet, guys. One more day left.

Now we'll get to see if a round can survive without the warlord :). Hope you can get the comp access back soon.

By the way, Rexy, have you changed your mind or would you like me to continue posting the vgmix topics?

If you want you can keep doing it. You'll understand why when I bring the results up.

Rexy

It's here, fokes. You asked for it - it's the PRC results! And according to the Stats, we've got the most active round this season so far, so well done everyone!

Now, let's get down to the results, shall we?

Total number of mixes - 5
Total number of votes - 8
Highest possible score - 24

Alex Smith receives the last place wooden spoon with 3 points.

Chickenwarlord sneaks into fourth place with 5 points.

Flexstyle begun his time in the compo via a third place finish with 11 points.

Nutrtious gets blasted into second place with 20 points.

And the winner of PRC111 is Rexy with 21 points!

Attention, ma'am. You need to send a source tune to myself in the next 72 hours or you'll get a slit in the throat.

...

Eh, yeah. I need to talk to myself less. o_O

Still, whichever the results are, I need to come out with the all important news that I left you guys hanging on. And to be frank, it's actually a little grim.

Now that I'm slowly having to start to phase into the real world a bit, it has meant that I haven't been visiting OCR as often as I should do. In fact, only PRC has been keeping me hanging on a thread, and someday I have to let go of that as well. There's also the fact that I still need someone to take over the Dragon Warrior project as well ever since I've had no time to consult anyone with that in recent times either.

That said, I'm accepting a screening process for both - one person to take over the project, and another to be my PRC successor. I don't know whether to call it quits by PRC117 (which will mark me spending two years running this thing) or PRC130 (the fifth anniversary) but it all depends on how fast I end up finally settling into a job and a new routine in the real world. Regardless, I hope by then I will be able to find someone willing enough to take over when I'm done with this for good.

Is anyone interested in either placement? If so, hook me up with a PM. We'll discuss more in the following week from the message concerning the project, and concerning PRC I'll take you through the first part of the screening process during the next compo's voting stage.

That said, thank you for your time. You can now take it easy for a while until Friday, so see you next mission.

It's good to announce it now, so we have time to find someone.
Hopefully someone can take it the PRC over. If not, I can do it (I have done a FLMC Round and it was fun).
But I'm sure someone else will (It's just in case there's absolutely nobody for the PRC). This contest should continue.

Bunde, you would be a good choice for the job. You've voted in pretty much every round and have showed interest in the continuation of this competition.

Rexy
01-15-2008, 03:58 PM
That's a very good point, Chick. But that's only a couple of points out of several that the successful candidate should be able to understand by the time the takeover is done.

Thanks for the support.

But yes, someone else might be a better choice. It is better if a good remixer can do it, so he or she will be able to submit something if it's needed or vote. There are many guys around who can handle it. And 1 + 1 = 2, do you understand....
But I would like to see PRC stay in this form.
It's just that if nobody has the time..... I have enough time in a week to set up and organize the contest.

Also, it's a good idea to post at Vgmix as well, I don't know if that's the reason for the better turnout, but every single remix or vote that can be won is good.

Hylian Lemon

I don't think I have enough determination to keep a competition going. I think Bundeslang and Chickenwarlord have proven themselves worthy candidates, but yeah. What Rexy said.

PRC without Rexy... D:

Rexy

I know what it'll be like, but the fact remains is that I'd have had a good run.
Heck, having been there since the middle of Kamoh's run I've seen people that felt the same way for the days when founder reelmojo ran the contest (and he too seemed to be getting life straight as well). Caleb did a great job in building the foundations together, and I hold him in high regard for that.

Resigning from the host post won't mean that I won't be completely gone from the scene, more like I won't be there as often as I usually would. I'm sure everything will be fine under the hands of the successful candidate, and I will make sure that I have 100% trust in them before passing the torch.

Thank you for being such an outstanding host Bev! Ever since I entered my first PRC (PRC 69 - Tommahawk man!) I have always admired your dedication and positive attitude. You've worked so hard on this competition and I wish you nothing but the best of luck in your future endeavors.

I participated in the very first PRC and honestly I never thought it would make it this far -- a lot of compos come and go on these forums but PRC has managed to outlast them all. This achievement was possible in no small part thanks to you, Rexy.

I know it's not time to say goodbye yet, but since others were chiming in with their appreciation for your commitment I thought I'd throw mine in as well.

Best of British, Bev
cheers.
