Hello djpretzel,

This one's a dramatic, SSBM-style orchestral medley of a couple Donkey Kong 64 tunes -- namely, Frantic Factory and Hideout Helm. This piece was the winner of the "New SSBM Stage" contest at the VGMusic.com forums, so it can't be all bad. Enjoy!

This has some good parts, and although a couple of transitions were less than smooth, overall this is a yes. Don't really like the smash bros samples though.

This is cool except...

The drums are as simple as they can get.

THe orchestration and arrangement is ace, but I have to hear the original.

The intro totally puts me off; makes me feel like I'm playing the game rather than listening to music. More importantly, if I'm not mistaken, the majority (maybe all) of these sounds are sampled directly from DK64, which does not impress me. Besides this lack of discretion, the background hiss is rather annoying, and the orchestral arrangement seems haphazard and hurried. Not sure how it could be salvaged.

Mehhhhhhhhhh..... i dunno..
Those drums just don't feel right against the rest of the arrangement...
If there were a heavier techno/electronica element to the track it'd be
cool, but as it stands the lack of an 'orchestral' snare bothers me.
I'm hearing some clipping, i believe, in there also that bugs me.

The arrangement itself is neat indeed, but the samples sort of drag it
down...

A style like this is one that if you are going to do you need to do it well.
While definatly not as 'unsalvagable' as Coma is calling it, I still don't think
it's reall up to par for this style of music. Definatly not bad, but I think
with some higher quality samples, and a different approach on the
percussion it would be much more enjoyable.

i dont like the use of SSBM voice samples. just doesnt work. choppy.

the thumping low string gets on my nerves it is too throbbing.

i'm also turned off by the fuzz on the samples, and the general hissing.

could use some cleaning up.

So, uh, is this a DK64 remix or an SSBM remix?

The drums are super dull. Not only are they weak, they also lack variety. Spice things up with some FILLS or something... Also, the arrangement seems to be very similar to the original (aside from the fact that it's two different songs blended together, of course). The big huge kick hit thingy throughout is a bit over-powering, too. All in all, this just seems pretty boring and non-attention-grabbing. Some of the samples don't seem to really fit, either, like the vibes.

Lastly, why do we hear Fox McCloud at the end? Just doesn't seem to... make much sense...

This has potential, but as it is, it's not a whole lot of fun.
