It is larry's party and I can cry if I want to.
Anyhow, midnight eh? Cool with me I guess. No callins I am guessing. That's alright. I will still be there :D
EDIT: wait, vgf82 is going to be held the saturday right after vgf81? nig better get some sleep after 81 so he doesn't cut 82 short like 80.

you were on the edge of crying in two scenarios this past couple of months
I now stand corrected. We have a third, apparantly. (http://www.ocremix.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=2289109&highlight=#2289109) ;)

This question still needs to be answered. Is 82 the day or week after 81?

Rexy

VGF82 should be Saturday 10PM EST per the usual, so be sure to be there as we wind the show down.

Quoted for emphasis. :P

Arek the Absolute
03-10-2006, 05:23 PM
because arek is stupid and is driving on no sleep, he shall ask again cause that could mean next saturday or this coming up one and like i said in my post if it is the saturday right after his midnight show that nig better get some god damn sleep so he doesn't cut 82 short lke he did with 80

Rexy
03-10-2006, 06:19 PM
He only cut it short because material's been lacking, as it usually has been these past few weeks or so; no thanks to fewer subs to OCR, VGMix being down, some of the compos not holding enough spice as they used to and so forth.
But yes, I believe that Larry is talking about this saturday coming. He's only doing 81 tonight so he can play catch-up with what he missed last week. ;)

No backup from my side tonight, sorry. I gotta finish this project I'm working at. Also midnight CET is like 6am GMT+1 for me, 2am CET is like 8am.

So yeah... sorry to dissapoint you in terms of support in the last weeks.

And if you can get here, you can booze it during a show, no doubt.

No worries about this week. It's looking like I'll be leaving sometime shortly after the 25th, but I haven't bought my ticket yet (that'll be before the end of this weekend). So I'll be able to say for sure in the next few days.

Sef, don't give up; there's three weeks remaining. Surely you can provide something good enough for the show in that time. I mean look, you finally got some of your original stuff played earlier on this year, so it should make a good (re)starting point.

Believe me, a lot can happen in three weeks O.O

We're closing in on the last hurrah for VGF as we know it. It's time for a new poll to send off larry to places unknown (hopefully there's lysol/antibacterial cleanser there)!

Rexy
03-11-2006, 03:59 PM
Gray, you do realise that most of those things will still remain on him after he leaves Emory? :P

That said, aside from the VGF MP3s and stuff like his contributions to OLR I can't imagine him recording his voice sometime soon, so that gets my vote.

But be prepared, because this lion bites O_o()

Maybe it's because he already played a lot of the Toybox material as it was earlier on in the year (or last year in the case of World's Worst Drum Programmer). I think it happens. O_o

Once again, ever since it didn't get a formal announcement as such in the topic header after putting up the link three pages back, I have VGF70! (http://rexy.herograw.org/music/stuff/Larry%20Oji%20(Liontamer)%20-%20VG%20Frequency%2070.mp3) :P

I'll miss every aspect of you, Larry, except the aspect that acts in the capacity of a judge!

L - O - L! *rimshot*

JKJKJK! I love your judgework; I just had to get in one last one.

I'm sorry to see you go. You've provided an indispensible service to the community for so long now that I've come to take it for granted and, in light of that, you will be more missed than just about anything since McVaffe when you're gone.

Here's hoping to much success and prosperity in your new place of residencey. If it's really in the DC area I'm gonna come and give you a wedgie when you don't expect it, which, realistically, will be ever.

The Place We Knew is because Larry's still waiting on Chrono Symphonic, and Crystal Potion is because he played it before when it was up on VGMix. Does that answer the question?

Rexy
03-12-2006, 12:21 PM
It's hard to remember, but I'm giving it a shot.

VGF81 -
* I came first to discuss my DoD and ORC tracks and discussing the concept behind the Popular Music Replacement Competition that's going on right now with FF6's "Terra", while at the same time still patronising Larry's pubefro and his donning of womens' underwear
* Arek the Absolute gives in more scope to Milkyway Wishes and ideas for his incoming Megaman X 1-3 project. Makes fun out of Larry's pubefro.
* Nineko calls in to mainly talk about his hacking exploit at OLR and why he did it, as well as deciding to start doing some serious work. Shares some Italian with the peers. Makes more fun out of Larry's pubefro.

VGF82 -
* Flik makes a return to the airwaves after so long to discuss what he's been doing all this time. Mainly spends most of his time over his fighting against the Flu recently.
* Joe Cam phonejacks Shael Riley, thinking Larry needs some comfort on the air before the music starts. Guess not?
* A mystery caller tries to imitate Shael. Because of no ID system, no one ever knew who the hell that was...
* Shael Riley comes on to mention the remastering of his Toybox album and how Disk Mastah Smokabitch and Hella-Tight MC Fukkaslut left the OLR remix panel, as well as submitting "What Key Are We In, Cutsman?" to said site.
* Geoffrey Taucer mentions a little about his musics and his turnout at the recent OCR meetups as well as the origins of his name and his irish whistle.
* Kevin "Lorenzo" Sisk comes on to start discussing how his track in the FLMC "The Eleven Day Journey" was established, as well as how he lost nearly 100lbs (!) on a recent weight loss plan.
* I'm too mashed to remember what chthonic and OverCoat had to say. Can someone help me out here?

I hope this kind of helps O.o

Well if the plan doesn't change, next show is planned to be the long overdue "Chrono Symphonic" special. I just hope I have most of the stuff for the SE done till then, which would mean "exclusive footage".

Up to Larry however.

Ah, thanks. That's my fault for only getting 30 minutes of sleep or some crud that night. :P

Anyway, that topic lead on from our discussion behind the FFXI soundtrack (the game which spawned the source material for the Peoples Remix Competition 61), where most people were speculating great things. I actually read a few reviews on the soundtrack and they were thinking it weren't the same from Uematsu's style, of whom did a handful of tracks out of the entire score. Then most of the people in the chat started hating on him, which lead to Larry starting to hate on Terra, which lead us both to relieve on that track getting "substituted" in said compo and thinking of the possibilities that would come out of it. We both think stuff like Time Circuits and Ice Cap and stuff like that would be candidates for sources in the future; for us the possiblities were endless.

Ahaha, I think I rambled too much

Compyfox
03-18-2006, 02:51 AM
Larry postponed it (alsodue to my request) a couple of times. He still wants to do it before he moves again and (finally?) stops doing shows.

And last week he mentioned something to me via AIM and IRC - even to do a show within the week. Since then... silence.

Rexy
03-18-2006, 09:59 AM
All I know is that he would do a CS special mid-week sometime (which now has to be between this Saturday's show and next Saturday's finale with the way we see it).

Also, if Larry sees this, TCK wants to call this week, so be sure to be on the lookout for a British number that isn't mine ;)

I plan on doing a simple CS show on Sunday sometime shortly after VGF83 on Saturday night, so gimme the stuff. And if it's not then, it'll have to be VGF83 itself (as there's not much music out this week) or after next week's show with no calls. That's about all I have time for until I'm done.

Rexy
03-18-2006, 10:59 AM
Roland doesn't actually want it to be VGF83 with what I'm hearing. He's worried if he won't have the special edition stuff done on time. O.o

Liontamer
03-18-2006, 11:55 AM
I've had to put that show off since New Year's/VGF75, more than enough time for at least some SE stuff to be done. I'd like to get this show done before I leave, and it's not a big deal to just use the RE material. Roland or anyone else involved needs to let me know what SE material is available and get it to me before VGF83 as teaser material for SE's eventual release. Because I have my own more pressing and inflexible deadlines to think about, that's pretty much how I'd prefer to do it at this point. I can hold off for next week if it's really really necessary, but I'd likely hold the same format as the Kong in Concert & Hedgehog Heaven shows, where I play regular stuff first, then spotlight the album during the rest of the show.

Compyfox
03-18-2006, 04:10 PM
Well I thought you do a "dedicated show", like you did with "Kong in Concert" and "Doom", but it's okay. I can hook you up before midnight (my place) with some exclusive bonus material. Unless you really wanna do the show on Sunday (I just need a definite date and time)

Did you reach Claado now? I think he's entitled to call in too, as he is the project leader and a bit more important than I am - I'm just the engineer (and coordinator of the SE, but still under control by Claado).

Like I said, the KiC show was a like a regular show followed by the second half dedicated to the album, so it's still a dedicated show. I never did a DSoP show as that came out during the summer. Hook me up with any SE material you want me to play ASAP. As far as definite date & time, it's either tonight or next Saturday; take your pick and tell me ASAP on that as well.

In terms of reaching Andrew, AFAIK from the Summoning of Sprits thread, he's been MIA for a little while so I wouldn't necessarily bank on him being around tonight. I honestly don't know what his availability is, but I hope to do right by him with the CS show nonetheless.

Rexy
03-18-2006, 04:47 PM
I think Claado's too busy to call :(

Alright, well, I definitely jumped the gun. I thought I would have more time...or more inspiration...but I don't. With 5-7 day work weeks of 12 hours each, I don't have the energy to work on any music. I'm sorry to say, but the Navy is kicking my ass time-wise. Those 2 days off are the only time I have to not go crazy, and I can't afford to utilize them making music.

Again, sorry. I really hope you find someone else to take the song, as it's fun and all to listen to, but the premise of remixing it is a little havy considering my workload. I'll see you all again when the project is released.

~.C.S.~

Even Kyle and Usa wanted him to maintain contact on their own projects. See how they must be feeling too.

[EDIT: Well I be a monkey's aunt; Larry beat me to it. UK connections to OCR suck.]

I forgot about WWE Saturday Night's Main Event (http://www.wwe.com/shows/snme/) tonight on NBC at 8PM. No way I'm gonna make tonight's VGF now, but there's actually not enough new material from the community this week to actually do something this week. So I hope to be able to spend the extra time getting some appropriate additional material I may have missed in order to provide at least a 2-hour show. It's tentatively scheduled at 6PM Sunday night, but may be earlier or later depending on when I can get to the studio and finish up some editing of older episodes.

You do not mock me on the way out!

Aight, so some (NON-WWE) crud came up requiring me to not do a show tonight either. It looks like I'll have to do it on Monday or later in the week. Not really a big deal when as I have the actual playlist ready.

In other news, VGF84 on 3/25 will be the last Saturday show and should be on schedule featuring whatever regular community music comes out followed by Crono Symphonic along with some bonus material from the upcoming Special Edition. Calls will be limited to Crono Symphonic members only in order to not bloat the show too badly. I don't mean to not let people get their calls in, but it's not a funeral so I'm not gonna play it up as one.

Provided I'm still going strong after VGF84, I may try to do the VGF84.99 finale immediately after VGF84, but otherwise may do it on the night of 3/27 sometime shortly before I leave Atlanta for good. Details will be forthcoming and all that jazz. And after the show's over, the thread will continue to have informal plugs for stuff, as well as updates when I finally release more stuff from the MP3 backlog.

Home stretch, people.

Hahaha! It is absolutely thundering and lightning...ing all over Atlanta tonight, so poor lil' ole me without an umbrella for myself or my computer is shifting the show over to tomorrow night at 2AM EST, which is the same time of week I did my last make-up show, so I know the spot is free. Hopefully the weather will actually be accomodating then, and whoever's there will be able to enjoy the show. I added a few more tracks to the VGF83 playlist that you're going to enjoy, so tune in if you can.

Weather.com says:

8pm: Rain / Thunder
9pm: Rain / Thunder

I'll buy you some candy to make up for it. Feel free to try and get in before I start playing CS stuff, but that's about it.

Not to be a douche, but I figure everyone's had a lot of opportunities to call during past shows since #61. I'm about ready to wrap the show up my way, and that way is with rather minimal talkies.

Since Verizon's been a bitch, Sunday would've been the first chance I would've had to call in since about October. I don't have a cellphone, and I rarely had dialtones on Saturday nights. I was going to have someone else call in about what I wanted to talk about on this show, but it's too late for them as well.

EDIT: Actually, I wouldn't've been able to call in anyway. Rama lost my phonecard at MAGFest so I can only make local calls.

Depends if Larry ends up taking any calls for 84.99. For the end of the first year I saw on the shownotes that he didn't take any calls. The end of the second year had him taking calls off air, but Paige soon came into the studio talking with him about partway through, then a blooper while introducing OverCoat's "Paper Jam" left him to force Mustin onto the air through a few bits of the playlist selection, followed by me calling (second time in VGF history) through another batch, and resulting with Compyfox showing his gratitude for the end.

If all else fails, we can flirt off-air ;)

I was gonna call in more for PTSC and SotW, as well as something secret that may be in the works, than for you (though obviously speaking to you is a bonus). But I'll try my hardest to call in before the CS stuff starts.

Anyway, I'll see about talking to you about the show format and scheduling an exact time for calling in.

Damn. I've seriously been considering bringing back NGI after it's very long hiatus, but part of the problem is that I never had a decent time slot for the show (along with many other issues that brought the show to an untimely halt, but I won't divulge those here). Would you mind, Larry, if I stole...*ahem* "used" your Saturday night time slot? :P

And of course, since this weekend is pretty much the last show, I'll have to at least listen.

Home stretch, y'all. Now if for SOME REASON, I'm too out of it to do the finale show right after VGF84, I will come back the following night in order to do it, though it'll probably be very late like 2AM. Obviously not a preferable time there, but I'll have to make due with it.

But the plan is to do the first show, MP3 it really quickly and then record the finale which is not open to any calls. This is so I can keep things done in a reasonable time and because the best of shows are about music rather than calls. Plus I'm sure VGF84 will have too many calls. Please don't be offended if I don't take your call. I hope you understand that it doesn't mean I don't appreciate your company or your support of the show.

I hate to seem like I DON'T want to talk to people and talk about the show ending and all that, but my time is really limited in that I'm essentially screwed in terms of handling everything I need to do before I move if I spend more time at the station than I need to. Doing both shows will likely be in excess of 8 hours, and I'd really like to not push that amount as I have a lot of editing to so as well.

Aight, we'll see you there, no? (NO!)

Now that I think about it, I've been not looking forward to trying to do two decidedly long shows back-to-back like this at all, and that's definitely not the way I ever planned to go out. It'll be completely unenjoyable if I can't take calls tonight AND try and cram the finale in there when I'm already gonna be dog tired.

So I'll just do the finale tomorrow night. Sorry if that makes it an impossibility for people that have work/school the following Monday, but I'll be doing right by me in order to keep myself sane and be able to relax a little more. I believe it'll have to to be Sunday late-night at 2AM EST, and it should be about a 4 hour show covering this final season's best-of-the-best. If I can swing midnight EST instead, I will, but I dunno about the availability.

There. I feel better already.

man, if only i wasnt phone jacked yesterday

Phone jacked? There were enough blocks to call, some couldn't either due to the fact that their phone didn't work.

Not to mention that Larry gave a lot of opportiunities in the last shows - if nobody calls... sure is not a fault for the phone being jacked or something.

Well duh... 7am here and I wanted to sleep through, guess I'll call it a night.

*Nostaliga goes here*

Really though, I've listened on and off to VGF since Kong in Concert (though I was obligated to grab VGF 24). Many songs played I've downloaded since and enjoyed. A shame to see it go, you did a good job Larry.

And a best of show? It'll be interesting to see what ends up on there, and to see if the bad taste truly does filter onto the playlist..

Okay... for those who missed yesteday's show, don't want to wait for the official release and don't want to listen to the Regular Edition of Chrono Symphonic either, but want to go straight to the point (Special Footage), I've got a bootleg recording for you. Can also be a filler if Larry postpones the final show. ;)

You can find more informations about Chrono Symphonic and the "bootleg recordings" in the corresponding project thread (http://www.ocremix.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=2330064#2330064). The files can be directly downloaded from my server.

Sorry, no interviews from Rexy and Kevin "Lorenzo" Sisk as my Wavelab decided to stop the recording after a filesize of 2GB, so I guess you have to wait for the official release by Larry.

Please enjoy.

Well, I ended up getting about an hour and a half of sleep before work, but I think it was worth it to hear the show to the end. Hopefully I can keep working and not fall asleep.

As for me never singing again Dhsu, don't count on it. My voice is one of my tools. Just needs to be crafted more. Plus, I made the mix pretty fast and didn't even have reference music to base it off of. It was just for fun. I'm sure it was the harmonizing as I got a lot of crap about that. Whatever I guess. Got the point across...

Anyway, good run Larry. It'll suck not having VGF to look forward to, but no one could have expected the show to go on forever. Maybe someday you'll do something similar to it again, but for now best of luck on your move and getting into a decent job!

Keep in touch.

Hey, I'm not saying that it was unintelligible. But it was fun for me when you mixed up "or" and "oder" and used "hold out" instead of all the other possibilities the english language gives you (sustain, withstand, endure etc pp). I guess you had "aushalten" on your mind, didn't you?

So, which episodes would people say are LEGENDARY? I can host them. 300gigs transfer every month. Dunno how many people would download them. Maybe they could be lowered in quality a little bit more. There can't be THAT much exciting about the quality of a radio show mp3 can there?

Compyfox
06-12-2006, 06:00 AM
VGF was (and is still) released in the mp3pro Format. You can't get any lower than this anymore. Legendary... well every show is legendary I'd say.

Larry just needs to hook me up with more stuff, then I can release everything I have. Inlcuding a couple of shows prior VGF#21. But... keep in mind, Larry moved to Washington, needed to get used to his new home, and he doesn't have access to WMRE anymore. Things got delyed a bit, especially in the last season of VG Frequency.

BTW:
The Torrents are still available (and won't finish that soon either), just ask at #ocremix or in here for some seeder. Atm 2 seeder per VGF are available. Even the 'Backup Show' "Crimson Moon" with a load of german accent and more than just remixes.

Oh yeah, you can find the torrents here:

The really good ones? Everyone will say VGF 24, the April Fools one. 31, Kong in Concert's premiere, and 32, the Mustin interview, were pretty good. 48 to 50 were a good string of shows, capping it off with djp on the air for way too long.

Jim Holland's first appearance was probably a good one, but I don't have it.

Cool, Roland was probably able to hook you up. Once I delete my collection of OC ReMixes (since the new torrents are finally out), I can seed more stuff. Still wish I could upload the backlog of old episodes.

I know you're without a way to host on the Emory servers unless you pass them to Paige (does she have email btw?), though odds are Herograw would somehow come in here and give you a hand on that. Or if not, you can call him.

Looks like the Emory gods are working in my favor tonight. Tried to upload VGF84 for quite a while now. Snag it.

OMGcut/paste dat URLz 4 teh win!

The show features all of OCR's most popular Site Project to date, Chrono Symphonic, including Compyfox's rough versions of all of Chrono Symphonic: Special Edition. WILL IT EVER ACTUALLY BE FINISHED (so we can post Chrono Trigger 'The Final Battle')? Who knows, but you'll be able to check out most of mixes exclusive to the (potentially) upcoming addendum if you snag this ep. Check out the beginning for several tracks for Shonen Samurai's "lovey album to his lady", Bolt of Blue featuring Ailsean, Kaijin, and Diggi Dis.

Apparently, Compyfox is under the impression that as long as he's banned he can't do squat. I would suggest that you try to get in contact with him about it. I've tried numerous attempts but he can't stop talking about his problems with OCR.

Either way, let me snag the MP3. It's been a while :)

Wasn't that already released? (Maybe I'm thinking of the wrong one, #69 was)
