You need to slow down when you talk, Rexy. I still can't understand a word you're saying. You start off all right and then sort of trail off into gibberish.

Am I the only one who can understand Rexy? Bloody Yanks.

I'm not a god damn yank. You're an Aussie and you've never heard of Perth, West Australia?

He's probably just pointing at the audience in general, Lee ;)
And given the change of title to the Earthbound project in recent times, I presume the topic title will also be edited when appropriate?

So what time will this start GMT?

2am or 3am?

I'm on it, will take a while, but I'm on it. Guess it doesn't go without the "timetable" after all. God I hate messed up DST times. We need a unified timesystem... like... StarDate or... internet time... maybe I should read myself into that. *hm...*

Okay Ladies and Gentlemen, I have the "adjusted" timetable for you. Chances are that you're in the middle of a "DST change" and might miss the show of about 1 hour. So sorry about that. Tonight is also (theoretically) a halloween show. So I hope you play the "Halloween Bumper" this time, Larry. Back to the usual jibba-jabba.

VG FREQUENCY Show #68 - SATURDAY, 10pm EST

Soory but the torrents of VGF won't be running till the show is over. Due to reasons I don't understand (with a DSL 3MBit line) the WMRE stream craps out for me if a torrent is running.

I'll resume as soon as the show is over. If I sleep in, as soon as I get up again.

Sorry.

Rexy
10-30-2005, 02:52 AM
That's understandable. Still, I got the MP3s anyway to check out.
And I thought Larry said that he will also be playing some halloween stuff this week? The playlist is all Earthbound, as far as I know :?

Sorry to ask a stupid question, but when can we download the Bound Together episode? I never really looked at this topic until now, and I'm not sure how it works. I can't find any of the episodes past 54. Thanks.

Compyfox
10-30-2005, 05:15 PM
Due to massive amount of editing and time issues, it's not possible to keep up every week for Larry. He did a couple of "backup shows" in one night. Leveling out the volume and writing down what was in the interviews takes time.

Another examples:
VGF56 - VGF60.99 was a 24h marathon at WMRE, VGF60 is still patially lost *god I swear Larry, I'll get it to you!*, since the relaunch of VGF the shows were over 4hours running time (up to 8hours!), etc.

That's why the showes come out that late. All that stuff takes time and Larry is a one man army. And I only release "official" shows as torrents, no bootlegs. Even though I have a couple of bootlegs on my HDD (VGF60.99 for example, I released the ending and the aftershow one time though).

Actually, when I called in off-air last night, Larry told me that he will release the Duck Hunt RoFL and Bound Together episodes (55+68 ) at the same time; the former being for the next to be released, and the latter for its release to coincide with the project.

Then again, Larry better not change his mind again :P

don't you love us??? :P

Cause on a horizontal line:

UK (GMT-0) - France - Norway (timezone sometimes a bit different) - Germany - Finland (GMT+2)

France, Norway and Germany have the same timezone. Why adding Spain and Italy too if it's the exact one as Germany and France (vertical on the same line)?

I can add it ... but tell me if that's really efficient. If every american would say "OMG you forgot our country", that list won't be a "small overview" anymore - that's what worldclocks are for (and what I post every time too). I only give a "small" insight, nothing more.

Check out my Ormgas.com VG Frequency forum (http://oc.ormgas.com/links.php?18) to see playlists for every one of the shows. The episodes with complete details at least point out what transpired during the calls from ReMixers and other personalities. I'm sure other people have their highlights, but doing something like that isn't a bad idea. I should do a clip show at some point, but it would take forever and a day.

And a way to get realplayer without signing up for gay.

Download RealAlternative from the Edskes mirror (http://home.hccnet.nl/h.edskes/mirror.htm) instead. That give you all the necessary RealPlayer codecs and the Media Player Classic application with which to listen to that stuff with. Free, and no bloatware included. (Get QuickTime Alternative too.) Thanks for your interest.

As soon as it is released, it will be available via link here, or if a pack-of-5 is full, then a torrent will be available. You also have to realise that this is a special bonus on a volunteerial base.

Shows are mostly released in a chronological order (with exceptions, of course). Shows starting from #60 till now (with exception of VGF#68) aren't released yet. Guess you have to wait.

You should have said so in the chat yesterday, I would have recorded it myself, then... when I wanted to do that, you just said it will be available to download afterwards, so I didn't record it back then :(

Compyfox
11-14-2005, 04:20 AM
Oh sorry that I didn't mention "that". It should have been obvious (especially after what Larry said at the end of the show about the torrents). If you would have listened to another show, would you have expected it to be available as "download" after that too? What about TV Shows? DVD available as soon as the episode was running or does it come out after (let's say) season 3 or season 4 is out?

I know a lot of radio host who don't record their stuff. Larry is an exception. You can see it from a positive side though. No shows were released in the time from May (last shows of Season 4) and October - with exception of a bootleg of VGF#60.99 (which was kinda the end of an era).

Larry is backing up quickly since Show #53 or so. He's only human himself. It takes time to edit the material, balancing the volume, listening to the interviews again and write down what was the main content, ID tagging, etc. And after his graduation he had more important things to do than cutting and releasing radio shows on his packed full laptop and a crappy 56k line, which put him a bit "behind schedule".

Like I said... patience. Others waited ages for the "Duck Hunt: RofL" show. Guess you have to wait for your particular show too.

Too bad I won't be able to listen in to this one. Larry's getting to be an old man. I mean, VGF 71? Don't be suprised if Larry complains about his incontinence, bad back, and lumbego. 8O

Just the other day he was grumbling about "those punk kids today."

I think I'll discreetly leave out the fact that I am three months older than he.

Keep your eye out for December. I'm trying to lobby Larry to let me host a show of the good remixes in honor of my birthday. Of course that might include some he's already played as well, particularly BlackPerson.

Hm... I guess in December will be the Chrono Symphonic special too. Heh... 2 Special shows around x-mas. Nice.

Will VGF go on X-Mas vacation this time too, or will Larry air every weekend no matter what, Paige?

It must be some reference to the RAPE interview in episode 65 (which is up for the taking on Paige's webspace BTW). I finally heard it earlier this week, and man, did I enjoy it :)

Thanks for the clarification, as I haven't been able to tune into the show for a while now. Larry really should move the show out of weekends. Many of us have lives and things to do on weekend nights. :(

A replacement poll on larry's mold would be more interesting, regardless.

[22:02] 04(GrayLightning04): that's why he's not playing fowl jive

[22:02] 04(GrayLightning04): keep asking

As Larry's signficant other, I think I need to finally speak out about the alleged pubefro.

While I refuse to answer definitively whether or not these accusations are correct, as I am a lady and wouldn't know the first thing about Larry's netherparts, I can say that I am quite sure that Larry has the utmost standards of hygiene.

I mean, as far as I'm aware, he bathes every week, and shaves every other week. I also know that he uses deoderant on special occassions and lysol+cologne when he's interested in some kissy face.

Some might say, "why, paige, is a beautiful sexy lady like you with someone who only feeds you campbells soup?"

how should i respond??....i'm hot for DJs. ;)

I know how you feel - I use Winamp for just about everything as well. It should be noted that a Winamp plugin does exist, called Tara, to play realmedia files... but it's not the most reliable. It hasn't worked for streaming vgf in ages. So I have RealAlternative for that, which actually works quite well, and unlike RealPlayer, doesn't adware up your system.

First off, there will be no show this coming Saturday, December 17th. Winter break is here and I don't plan to be on a regular schedule at the station until January 15th. Anything we have until then should, frankly, be considered a bonus.

The date of VGF75 depends on my own schedule alongside that of Chrono Symphonic. We are possibly shooting for Thursday, December 29th at 10PM, as I may be away until then. Things are relatively up in the air at this point, but I'll let you know what I can as soon as possible.

Nah, Larry's on Winter Break until Wednesday (I think). I think there's a normal schedule coming in from next Saturday onwards.

While this topic is up, I remember on some show people in the chat were looking for when G.I. Joe jumped the shark. I know it's some point after episode 50, but I can't seem to remember; that thought's been bugging me for the last few days :P

Forgive the slow downstream speed; that's the tradeoff for the metric fuckton of total bandwidth I have. But now everyone can hear about the lurid secrets of Larry and Paige's love life again and again in the comfort of their own home! Find out:

* what Larry serves Paige when he's in the mood,
* why Larry punched a Frosted Flakes box,
* what movie disturbed Larry so much that Paige had to hold him,
* what Paige's impression of Larry orgasming while defecating sounds like,
* and so much more!

You owe it to yourself and your family to download this aftershow immediately.

I'll give that a listen to be sure to be sure. Nice catch :)

Seriously though, the one thing that would have made it cooler is if she messed around with even more sound effects floating around the studio or something, like before the show started when she used all these SFX to describe their relationship.

Eh, when she next comes on the air I will make sure she does that ;)

[EDIT: And... oh snap, VGF69 is out? Nice, sounds appropriate considering my cousins are going to visit me today (as I said on the phone). I'll be sure to dive into it.]

Haha, well it took a while considering it's been nearly nine months since your graduation. :D

Nonetheless, considering you're a webdrive short, I'll burn vgfs 63 and 64 to disc, take them with me to the labs tomorrow afternoon (apparantly my dorm computer is blocked from FTPs >.>) and host them (or at least one depending on how much space I'm allotted) there for ravon and Compyfox. I said I could do that when calling off the air prior to VGF75.

My one little complaint was that Larry didn't play

THE SYMPHONY OF ELEMEN (http://songoftheweek.info/music/week0047/Arcana%20%28Game%20Rip%29%20-%20The%20Symphony%20of%20Elemen.mp3), THE WINNER OF WEEK 47 AT SONG OF THE WEEK, AND THE FIRST FIRST PLACE WINNER SINCE WEEK 36 NOT TO BE PLAYED ON AIR BECAUSE LARRY HAS A SAMPLE BIAS AND DOESN'T GIVE HIS LISTENERS ENOUGH CREDIT TO BE ABLE TO APPRECIATE TRACKS FROM THE SNES OR BEFORE BECAUSE THEY'RE TOO BORING OR DON'T HAVE FOUR ON THE FLOOR TECHNO SHIT OR SOME OTHER BULLSHIT >=O

Actually, it's probably just because he hates me and my music, especially since it beat his nomination in the same week by 12 points. I tried to extend an olive branch by giving his pick a point, but naturally he didn't reciprocate because he's a bitter judge without a soul (redundant, I know).

Haven't heard from Senor Mustin all day, as I asked him to send me a track to play alongside tonight's planned interview, so he may not be there or it may be too short notice to do the interview this week. Does the MOTD hang before you get disconnected or is it instant during the MOTD? My timestamps have seconds so I can tell what's happening better. Does this happen on every server? I meant the other ETG servers, but that last message pretty much means you're banned until March 10th, unless you go to ETG's forums and complain (which will probably be just about as quick as waiting until 3/10), or try to go through a proxy of some kind (probably not a good idea unless you can get permission from someone on ETG, but once again this can take months).

A two hour show? Lies!
It was a crowning achievement, believe me. I didn't know I was capable of doing 2 hours shows anymore.

As for the Valentine's Day poll, ThatPaige is interested in what the boys and girls of OCR plan to do for their sig-Os this year.

So vote or die. Preferably vote. (But I don't mind die.)

Just bought it, like 3 seconds before I came over to OCR and saw this thread :). I wouldn't say 16 bucks is really expensive, but it's 15 bucks plus making sure she reads a couple books that she will almost certainly love as much as I do, but which she'd probably forget to buy on her own, no matter how much I talk about their awesomeness.

Also, believe me - it amazes me just as much as anyone that I got to vote for anything other than "I smell, and no girls will have me". Nice timing, too - it wasn't at all intentional that I asked her out right before Valentine's, it just worked out that way.

And turning into a werewolf was this weekend. No, seriously, I was a werewolf on Saturday - I got the most awesome werewolf bite evar. Specifically, I bit someone in the back of a group of people who were stuck together, and then they all had to hang on as the guy in the middle went insane and started stabbing people.
Yes, I am talking about a game, just in case you were getting confused and/or scared.

I find Valentine's Day to be tough. In the past, most males that I've fallen for either didn't have interest in me or like me but would rather prefer someone else. At least it's the season to provide yellow roses - or something close - to your closest friends.

Apparantly my dorm neighbour told me that I might have a secret admirer; now where did she get that idea from? :dstrbd:

When I skimmed through the choices, I thought that the McDonald's one was about taking her out to McDonald's, a fine Larry tradition.

Finally Larry is able to make a good/decent poll in years! I suspect Paige helped save it.

Paige feel free to dump that scrub. I bet Larry's getting Paige McDonalds shit, and Campbell's poison soup. :vomit:

I voted on "Valentine's Day is for capitalist oil-mongerers; we must shuck their oppression" just to bump up the numbers on that one, but in reality for my case it was actually "Give them a meaningful gift" and to a lesser degree this "Give them an expensive gift."

Actually Gray, I did help Liontamer write that poll. Pretty much any of the funny options were my idea and Liontamer just coalesced, he's rather complacent that way..after all, he wanted some lovin' so I had him hostage to whatever I wanted...so this time, I got Progresso instead of Campbell's. :D

Here is what I gave Liontamer for Valentine's Day:

A hand-painted water-color valentine and strawberries dipped in dark chocolate (which I also did myself).

An hour to go to see what I get in return...I'm hoping it's an oil change for my car, as opposed to last year's gift of a passion fruit-scented air freshener. Liontamer said it was the deluxe version because it's the kind you hide under your seat so no one knows where the smell is coming from.

So for all those wondering what it was that I got for Valentine's Day. Here is how it all happened.

5:00pm: Larry shows up at my house, with an air freshener ("because you liked it so much last year"), this time kiwi scented. "Not the most romantic thing, I know, but very practical." Ever the debonaire gentleman, Larry installs the freshener himself, handing me a Coke bottle that had rolled under the seat.

6:00pm Arrive at grocery store for dinner. "Instead of Campbells, I thought we could try something different for a change. I was thinking....Hungry Man, since, you know, I'm a Hungry Man for you!"

6:32pm: Hungry Man Salisbury Steak (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00032ER40/102-2250405-6524959?v=glance) with mashed potatoes and green beans and Hungry Man Classic Fried Chicken Dinner (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00032ER4K/102-2250405-6524959?v=glance) with corn and mashed potatoes with Franzia's White Zinfandel (jhttp://products.peapod.com/8038.html).

6:50pm. With dinner completed, Larry had yet another suprise for me: Under Seige 2: Dark Territory (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0114781/). He asked if I would have preferred Freddie Got Fingered, as he almost chose that one at Blockbuster, but I assured him, US2 was a better, ahem, choice.

8:29pm. With US2 over, Larry informs me that he has to update the Currently in the Judging Process (http://www.ocremix.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=56560)announcement.

9:05pm. Larry is still looking for gamer-oriented sprites to put on the announcement. I eat some of the chocolate I got him and go to bed.

10:55pm. With Larry finally done searching for Valentine's Day oriented sprites, he wakes me up and wants to show me his cute Final Fantasy icons. I tell him he can go play with his icons on his own.

10:58pm. Larry wakes me up again, because Red Sonja (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/079284078X/102-2250405-6524959?v=glance) is on tv. I throw him a piece of my lingerie and say "here pretend i'm with you, i'm going back to sleep."

12:02am. Larry arrives in bed with his laptop, playing Lunar Singing Pretzel OC ReMix (http://www.google.com/url?sa=D&q=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ocremix.org%2Fremix%2FOCR00214% 2F). Obviously this means the male lion is in heat. Needless to say, I pretended I was asleep through Lunar Singing Pretzel, Larry's Toyota Disco-Gran Turismo OL ReMix, Vigilante's "Funky Monkey Love-Valentine's Day Edit," and Daknit's Bard of Tarot-"Final Fantasy 7 CoolCatSithe OC ReMix".

So I'm dead tired and going on very little sleep. I'll be pushing back the show to Monday night in order to have some time to recover and be able to get the studio easily. This should hopefully be the last push-back of VGF79.

I let Mustin know what the status was, so he'll hopefully be available for either tomorrow night, or simply next Saturday for VGF80. Either way, be sure to tune in. Good day, y'all. [/Jim Holland]

03-04-2006, 04:21 AM
First things first, VGF81 is postponed until a new fan for my laptop is purchased. The old one's equilibrium got F'ed up (no, it wasn't dust) and only spins half as fast as it should, so it buzzes loudly and doesn't keep the CPU cool enough. New one should arrive sometime next week, and there will be a make-up show mix week, before hopefully returning to Saturdays the following Saturday, 3/11.

In other news, I'll be moving in April and the show as we know it will be over. As in completely over. Ironically enough, April 1st is a Saturday, which looks like a perfect April Fool's joke, but in all likelihood the show will be finished by then and there's no need for a joke. Rather poor timing, as I'd prefer not to have anyone think this is some sort of setup (especially one that'll have no payoff, frankly). If I won't be leaving by 4/1, then I'll maybe do a show. Depending on how soon I move, there will be anywhere from 2 to 4 shows remaining, hopefully including time for me to do a final episode including a favorite track from each episode since #61.

I would have liked to have ended the show on a fanicer number like 85, or even my arbitrary favorite 87, but that's most likely not going to be a possibility. In any case, I thank everyone for their support, their listenership, their music, and all that good stuff. As much as I would have liked to continue the show ad infinitum, I have other priorites I'll be moving on to, but I hope no makes a big deal out of the show ending. We'll get to that stage when we need to get there.

Stick around for a date on VGF81 for sometime in the next week, and of course more info in the coming weeks on how we're going to ultimately conclude the show.

Even though we understand that time has to move on, it's shows like this that help make people much more aware of the sites that they currently reside. We can easily do with things that have felt more like a community thing, and it's that that I feel has been done right. Thanks once again, and... sure I'll wait patiently for VGF81 :)

Talk about pot calling the kettle black; you were on the edge of crying in two scenarios this past couple of months, being struggling to get the webstream working for VGF75 (I wonder when that would be put up for all to see though), and the end of Toyota Disco's reign on the OLR Top 11. That said, if you can do that, then Arek can cry all he wants :)
