--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(Wow, this stuff below is pretty old...)

This is primarily for the fans that I have so far for my college radio show, which I've recently retitled to "VG Frequency". Frankly, I still need my financial aid to pan out, but I'm hoping for the best so I can stay in Atlanta and continue my time on the air. I'm trying to be optomistic. I'm coming back on the air every Saturday night from 10 PM to midnight EST (that's Saturdays 7 - 9 PM for you Pacific peeps), with September 6th as my first show. Lemme get down to business on what I hope to do with it.

I'm certainly eager to get OCR/IMC mixers to come onto the show and give interviews, so anyone who'd like to do so should certainly lemme know of their intent. Reply to the thread or IM/PM me. For the moment, I'm not really pressing for interviews or phone calls from mixers. That's because I'd first like to able to have a reliable way of recording the shows and being able to offer fans and potential listeners the opportunity to listen to an interview or phone call they may have missed. Rest assured though, if you're down for an interview, I'll do my best to make it happen. I'm also willing to do webpage-posted interviews through AIM/IRC as well for people that can't necessarily do an interview on the air or over the phone. Not like anyone is obligated to do an interview, but I'm just throwing out the names of some remixer fans of the show in the past.

I'd be more than happy to have any of you on the air with me if you're familiar with the show (analoq, bLiNd, Dan Baranowsky, DarkeSword, Digital Coma, EgM, Endblink, Juverna, Ko Miho Leifo, KyleJCRB, Rayza, Red Omen, Science vs. Nature, SeattleOverCoat, SuperGreenX, [praying I didn't forget anyone]). I'm also hoping to get people who only contributed original work in the past to tune into the show and be down with coming on the air (Ailsean, Disco Dan, Injury, Jared Hudson, K. Praslowicz, kLuTz, Last Unicron, Maniac #9, Mazedude, McVaffe, MP, Omniverse, Protricity, Raven8t8, Russell Cox, Star Salzman, Steve Pordon, Suzumebachi, Trance-Canada, Wave Theory [AE, J:/Drive, Digimatic, Sir Cut], Wintermute, etc.). Anyone else involved with OCR who wants to do something? Lemme know. Just let me shoot for late September to early October to start interviews, so I can have the ability to record and archive though. :-)

Now the real fun part. Who wants to make radio bumpers?!? I'm looking for egotists who want to hear their own voices on the radio...[ahem]...I'm looking for artists who'd like to help pimp my show to do station and show identification recordings within the coming weeks. I'm not sure of the file format, but MP3 or definitely WAV is gonna be fine, I'm sure. No one has to make anything at all now, but for those who wanna do something anyway, here's what essentially needs to be mentioned: "Hey, this is (XYZ) of OverClocked ReMix and you're listening to Larry & 'VG Frequency' on WMRE. Pssst...this show sucks." Of course, you should go free form on it and say whatever funny stuff you want, or add in some BGM with your voice, but the example basically shows some/most of the points you wanna hit. Once I get a fair amount of idents, I'll get 'em set up and you'll be pimpin' tru on the air.

Some kickers: A) We're still using RealPayer/RealOne only for the audio/video webstream right now. Some people honestly don't mind. And some l33t hax0rs treat it like a fart in church. Look, I hate RealPlayer. With that said, I'm pushing the station to expand our webstream to include Windows Media Player so that more people can check out the show. But RealPlayer's the current option for listening to and watching the radio show. If you wanna treat it like a virus, that's not my problem. B) If you wanna submit tracks for the show, I'd prefer not to get any OGG files. Don't get me wrong. I love Ogg Vorbis, but for some reason they don't come out sounding right when they're put through the soundboard. I couldn't tell you why. C) For the moment, the only places to chat with me and the listeners during the show and make requests is on AIM through the private chat room "VG Frequency". KyleJCRB, remixer and host of the VGM streaming radio show "Nitro Game Injection", is thinking of proposing an IRC chat that would serve as a collective hangout for all radio shows like ours (e.g. "SuperRadioX", "V.A.G.O.", "The Kyle Clemens Video Game Music Show", etc.). Consider that a potential WIP. D) I'll be doing another "OCRtists All-Originals" show in a few months, so if you're looking to for a place to pimp your non-remix works (including original game compositions [e.g. Flash Flash Revolution, Psyscapes, ReVamped, Vector Mirage, etc.]), we'll be doing that in the coming months. Don't forget the "Double Deuce", which'll spotlight original VGM tracks back-to-back with their respective remixes. IMC & BEER spotlights may also happen, so keep an eye and an ear out. E) Larry's the man. Bump the thread if needed.

See you Saturday.

Bumpers/show idents can be done in MP3 form, BTW. I want 'em NOW...or later. How about later? It'll be a bit before I can put them in the Instant Replay machine we use, so there's no hurry. Meanwhile, the station computer had the Blaster Worm on it; hopefully someone fixes it tonight or this show's gonna suck!

Some revised show identification notes:

You have to include who you are (this is XYZ from OverClocked ReMix) and some combination of

a. you're listening to either Larry Oji (sounds like "O.G.") or "VG Frequency"...

b. on WMRE/Atlanta, GA or Emory University Student Radio/Atlanta, GA...

c. anything else you want to add ("this show is the shizzle"; "you've never heard crap quite this bad since Bad Tuna", "NICE WORK!", etc.)

Have fun with it!

Mike Chapman e-mailed me last night to confirm the Brothers Chaps interview, which I'm planning on doing in mid-October. I'm gonna be giving Mike & Matt a call this weekend to iron out the details and see how they'd like to conduct the interview. Meanwhile, I still gotta hassle the station about our ability to record shows. When analoq eventually comes on the air and gives my show a big fat judges [b]NO (Larry is teh LOSE!!11shift+1), I wanna be able to archive that for future listeners to check out down the line.

Meanwhile, my first show is TONIGHT, you pathetic letches. Stop drinking and tune in. [shakes fist] You like video game music? Well, I know you do.

WHAA-HA!!! :D :D :D

If you're gonna play something by me, please do so before 11 (10 Central). That's when I gotta shut it down.

Do I need a fast connection for this? I've got 56k.

I might toss together a bumper.

I've never actually had that many people try to peep it with 56K, but I know some regular listeners have before. You should just try it, and I'll make sure to play something off Omen Rising.

I'll be putting up the playlist tomorrow afternoon sometime. Without the internet available on the station computer, I couldn't put it up now.

I may release a copy of my archive of the show once I get it fixed up tomorow afternoon.

Thanks a hell of a lot for doing that. I'm very interested in listening to how it turned out.

And thanks a lot for the bumper, RO. The only request I have for it is that the music's volume obscures your voice, so you don't seem loud enough yourself. You should revise the bumper if you can, but seriously, thanks a lot for helping me out, plus being the first contribution. I'll be playing Global Control next week, BTW. I would have played it this week, but with the internet crapped out, I didn't want to throw the track out there, but not really be able to talk to the listeners on AIM for the full pimpage.

I'll also be playing SGX's "Thinking Different" one more time as well.

Hey, Walan, I'd love to have you the show to pimp BEER's uh..."goodness"??? Seriously, I'd definitely down with having you on the show to explain why you're so masochistic. :)

Thanks to everyone who tuned in and saw me go crazy over the lack of internet access I was stuck with, and many thanks to KyleJCRB for being my first OCR call-in of the semester!

I'm definitely glad you had a good time on the air, Kyle! I'm lookin' forward to having you on again. And I know you can't do it every time, but thanks a lot for using your Winamp stream to provide an extra feed format for the show tonight. Excellent work!

Liontamer: you see Red Omen's bumper?
Juverna: Nope.
Liontamer: pretty good; I just want him to change his voice level to make himself stand out more, but it's a great bumper
Juverna: Does it have like, music in the background and everything? :D
Liontamer: http://www.angelfire.com/falcon/fireadept/wmrebump.mp3
Juverna: Or those annoying radio whooshing noises?
Liontamer: see for yourself
Juverna: LOL!!!
Juverna: Wow.
Liontamer: High standard, to be sure
Juverna: Wow, I can't beat that.
Liontamer: ha
Liontamer: It's not a contest!

But if it was... Like I said, Red Omen has set a high standard, but don't feel pressured to do "Can you top this?!?" If you'd like to do a bumper, do whatever kind of style you want. It's gonna kick ass anyway.

But here's the nice thing. Someone wrote "Media Player Classic" (spiteware?). It looks identical to version 6 of Windows Media Player (keep it simple), and it includes codecs for RealAudio and RealVideo formats. But why stop there? There's also a QuickTime codec (!). Away, begone, buggy Apple QuickTime Player (hopefully for good).

Procedure:

1) Download the "Real Alternative" package, which includes the tiny executable for Media Player Classic (MPC) and the required codecs.

http://www.k-lite.tk/

(See downloads to the left.)

2) Install it (it won't fiddle with file associations, that's for you to do in step 3, which is optional (you can open the file directly)).

3) In Media Player Classic; View|Options... (O). Under Player|Formats, check/tick the RealMedia types.

..and then just open the link; File|Open... (Ctrl+O).

You could for instance try this one (copy/paste link)..

http://www.woi.org/stream/woi-fm.ram

BURP - Boycott Use of Real Player (http://unk.fi/~manni/burp/)

It's basically the same procedure for the "QuickTime Alternative" package, which also includes MPC. Animatrix (.mov) played fine, and now in full screen, not "fill screen".

Not a problem. I enjoyed doing it.

I noticed a problem with the voice stuff as well. See, when I recorded my voice into the mike, my parents were in the house, and I had to keep kinda quiet, ya know. I'll record it again, more rambunctiously, and see if I can reproduce the background music.

I'm glad Juverna liked it. I trust you recognized the bit at the end?

Thank you very much. I would definitely have preferred you do it next week, as I will probably have my website more or less prepared by then and maybe even be in the AIM room myself. I have to download the thing first. Geez, I have so many messenger programs...

Also, were you still considering doing remixer originals? I have some suggestions (i.e., Beatdrop's Cherry Blossom Whirlwind and Jared Hudson's Colliding Worlds and Final Showdown, among other things).

I'm definitely going to be doing remixer originals at some point in time. I have Colliding Worlds, which Jared offered, and I had the opportunity to play on the first All-Originals show in April. Definitely remind me of Dain's "Cherry Blossom Whirlwind" and Jared's "Final Showdown" when I do another original works show!

Hiroki Kikuta is the Secret of Mana composer, but Masato Nakamura composed the music for Sonic 1 & 2. He's also got tons of JPop under his belt with Dreams Come True. I did recognize the riffage at the end of the bumper as a tiny section from the song "Chrono Trigger". Sorry if I missed anything else, RO. :)

Please do not play Global Control this Saturday. I'd prefer that you wait until the next time, for two reasons:

a) I have a football game, and I'd miss it.

b) It's going to take some time before the people at Snake Inc are ready to give me an account. Then I'd have to upload everything.

So, please wait till the 20th. (I'd also prefer that you do it within the first hour, as that's all I can listen to.) Thanks.

I never played RPGs at all, so I routinely (but playfully) rag on one of my roomies for playing Final Fantasy VI (he insists I call it FFIII) and Chrono Trigger. I remember, I was playing some of DarkeSword's music from ReVamped, and one of my roomates popped in and basically said "A-ha! That's Chrono Trigger kicking your ass!" I said, "No way, that's original game music for an original game, beyotch!" I then started shouting "You want some Chrono Trigger? I'll give you some Chrono Trigger!" and I blasted Frog's Theme, which is honestly too shrill. The next day, I sent him "Enter The Frog" and it pwned him down with its rearrangement quality. So no need to be so modest, Jon. And Xenogears "Live From the Yggdrasil" will make its way on the show regardless of whether it's posted or still in the submission process. Probably this Saturday; perhaps on the 20th.

I'll also be taking care of Adhesive_Boy's Grandaddy request as well, so help me God. I'm f'n sorry my internet in the studio cut out just as I was about to get the damn file, Jack. Weak as hell. Thanks again for listening to my test run Saturday afternoon, BTW.

It's up earlier in the page, but don't forget. If you hate RealPlayer, but still would like to tune in without Real's invasive crap, download the installer for Real Alternative from my webspace. It's honestly very good: https://webdrive.service.emory.edu/users/loji/realalt104.exe

Thanks again sincerely to Red Omen, Star Salzman & Rayza for creating bumpers so far! And to everyone who's down with interviews/call-ins, remeber, there's no need to do anything now until I can get the proper recording/archiving setup for you. In the meantime, Species will be providing an archive of the debut show of VG Frequency in the near future. Thanks again for the help there as well!

So people get an opportunity to check out the show this coming Saturday, without bullshitting around with RealPlayer & RealOne, I'm reminding any RealPlayer haters that they can download the bundle for the non-invasive movie player "Media Player Classic". It's basically setup like Windows Media Player 6. Feel free to download the "Real Alternative" installer, which includes Media Player Classic: https://webdrive.service.emory.edu/users/loji/realalt104.exe

Also, if you hate QuickTime or simply find no use for having it alone, you can also download the QuickTime Alternative bundle from me: https://webdrive.service.emory.edu/users/loji/quicktimealt111.exe

With both sets installed, you can uninstall RealPlayer & QuickTime and play regular movie files, MOVs and RAMs within a simple, no-frills pr0g. Thanks a lot to Tricklozen once again for pointing these out to me.

As for the upcoming show, bLiNd's got something special to offer for this Saturday, and I'll be replaying SuperGreenX's recent original work "Thinking Different". Red Omen & JigginJonT's recent OCR submissions are tentatively set for the week after (the 20th). And remember, you can always post up, PM or IM me requests as long as a) I have the track, b) you can send it to me, c) you can provide me with a link. I'll be happy to play whatever VGM you wanna hear. Any music with a VGM-type file format, I'll need to know about in advance (e.g. NSF, SPC, GYM, PSF, VGM, GBS).

Also, thanks to everyone again who really enjoyed the first show last Saturday, especially xXoDiAx. Leaving the studio, I of course liked the music I played and having Kyle on the air, but without internet access I felt like the show was spiraling into a clusterfuck since I couldn't interact with the chat room. Thank God I made you peeps laugh.

Pick up Media Player Classic featuring Real Alternative and don't bother messing around with RealPlayer in order to listen to my show. Real Alternative is a smaller, all-purpose, higher-quality pr0g.

I'll be doing a fill-in this afternoon from 2-4 PM EST, but it'll be regular music only. If you like my sappy English bands (Coldplay, Travis, Starsailor) you'll be down. Most likely you won't. Nonetheless, make sure to tune in tonight from 10 PM - 12 AM EST. Hit me up on AIM tonight and join the listeners in the unofficial chat room. Someone should record archive this show too. I'm really liking what I've got this week.

For tonight's features, we've got a replay of SuperGreenX's newest techno original "Thinking Different", some ambient flavor with SeattleOverCoat's original "Gainsay", Adhesive_B0y's request for Grandaddy "Yeah is What We Had", an "entrancing" surprise offering from bLiNd :!:, GrayLightning's impressive new version of the new age Phantasy Star II mix "Dezoris Winter", as well as the spacesynth stylings of Rayza's pending Gaiares submission "Credits Theme (ZZ Badnusty Mix)". All that shizzle and more-izzle... :x  ...Tonight on "VG Frequency"!

Gray's currently having trouble getting a comp with Win95 on it to run a RealMedia stream. He's working on it, but it looks like he's prepared to install Real Alternative on his WinXP PC and make the ultimate sacrifice for God & Country in order to tune in to the show and hear the radio debut of Dezoris Winter. That's dedication. That's 100% heart, baby! :nicework:

My mom came in and interupted me and the stream just happened to kill at this time and I missed 2 and a half minutes at the end of the show, so I have the song fading out early and fadeing in on talking about how you should be in bed.

Ha! I have no idea who those first ladies were, though altogether I talked to three of them (Jessica, Johanna & Mallory). One of them, I forget who, wanted to know my age. Once I said 21 and she found out I was legal, she made sure to blatantly indicate that she was an 18-year-old freshman in a um..."enticing" tone. They were all pretty drunk/horny, and I do have to agree that them being drunk made 'em sound ditzy. :-) Nevertheless, if they're genuine female gamers, we'll hang out eventually. Might as well see if they're complete wierdos. If they became show regulars and look good, I could use 'em as my "Frequency Fly Girls" a la the SuperRadioX babes.

OMG PAIGE STFU!! If she sees this. Jk. I mean...yeah

The chat room felt she overstayed her welcome. She wondered why everyone in there wanted her to bounce, but I pointed out that she wasn't drunk, horny or talking about video games. Those were some key differences!

Thanks for j00r suppr0t, Vig! Oh yeah, if anyone wants to call into the show, please feel free to do it and make an ass out of yourself. Thanks to KyleJCRB, Vigilante & Star Salzman for doing just that in the past few weeks! Also, I'm definitely interested in receiving more radio bumpers. If you're down, just lemme know your intent. No hurry on getting anything to me.

[thumbs up] :!:

Once you get them out, Species, I believe I can eventually upload them to our radio station's webspace, so you wouldn't have to bear the burden of hosting the files. If my understanding is right, Emory College organizations get 1 gig of space to use, so we should be using it, especially for show archives. I'm also going to keep pressing my station on the issue of show recording, because while I definitely appreciate Species going out of his way for the hookup, it should be the station's responsibility to make show recording/archiving readily available for the DJs, especially the ones who are serious about their shows. I've seen much more bootleg stations possess those capabilities, so WMRE needs to step up in those respects.

Liontamer
09-16-2003, 09:32 AM
Major, major thanks to Species, who sent me the archive of show #2 earlier tonight. Episode #1 should eventually be available as well. After updating the tracklist on page 4 of the thread and updating the ID3v2 tag, "VG Frequency: Episode #2" is available for download at my college webspace (https://webdrive.service.emory.edu/users/loji/Larry%20Oji%20(Liontamer)%20-%20VG%20Frequency%20%232.mp3)! (23.6 MB)

Check out what all the hub-bubbery is about! The tracklist (including call-ins & bumpers) is included within the comments section of the ID3 tag so you can follow along with the show. Some notes for the uninitiated:

1) My radio station has a video camera in it, so if I refer to people seeing what I'm doing, it's a reference to what they're seeing on the live webcast (http://www.emory.edu/WMRE/wmre.ram).

2) Every week, I host a chat room on AIM ("VG Frequency"), so whenever I throw seemingly non-sequitur comments out of nowhere, I'm responding to something being said within the chat room.

3) 8O No, I'm not high when I'm doing the show, DarkeSword. :) I'm also going to hell for saying the Lord's name in vain about 87 times.

4) The bitrate has been downsampled to 24kbps/22mHz in order to make the MP3 file as small as possible (thanks, Species!). (Remember, the quality's been downsampled, so don't judge a track you're unfamiliar with simply based on how you hear it here. The live feed is an 80kbps/44mHz transmission, which would sound much, much better.) If you're familiar with a song, feel free to seek your way past it and see what's next. If you're not familiar with a certain song, but like what you heard, the tracklist within the show archive MP3 should give you enough info to obtain the track for yourself. If all else fails, contact me and I'll see what I can do for you.

5) Use headphones if you can. If you liked the show, pimp this thread or tell a friend who'd be interested in the show. Enjoy, and I'll see you next Saturday!

K, I just finished scanning through and listening to segments of the show. Man......all I can say is that I have every reason to believe that obscene amounts of alcohol were involved in the production process, on all ends. If you scan through the archived show randomly, it's more than likely that you'll pick up right in the middle of either Larry yelling something, or some psycho drunk chick doing what psycho drunk chicks do. So, in other words, it's fantas-great. If you haven't already, check it out. You might even hear some video game music if you listen long enough.

Now that's a quality testimonial if I've ever heard one! What are you people waiting for? Christmas? You can still check out show #2 of VG Frequency before I head into episode #3 this coming Saturday. Beyond the traditional VGM and OCR tracks, the current preview is as follows:

We've got JigginJonT's pianistic talents on display with Xenogears "Live From the Yggdrasil", McNoods pops his remixing cherry with The Secret of Mana "Beyond Comprehension", DCT lays down some relaxing rythms with Super Street Fighter II "Jamaican Soul", SeattleOverCoat's tryin' to fade you (or should I say "phase" you) with Super Metroid "Norfidia", and Red Omen tackles the best of both Enix & Squaresoft's worlds with Terranigma & Chrono Cross "Global Control (endblink Mix)". It won't be long now folks. Tune into "VG Frequency" tonight at 10 PM EST by clicking my sig link and listening to the webstream, if you want to listen, don't have RealPlayer, but would like to use Real Alternative to watch the feed, let me know, and I'll put the installation package for Real Alternative back up onto my webspace. In the meantime I'm hosting some quality dating advice articles this weekend for the sad, love-lorn chilluns' of OCR.

The show is looking stacked so far, with 5 non-OCR mixes looking to prove themselves tonight. Will you like what you hear???

GrayLightning's quickly been establishing himself as the new hotness of OCR, with 3 postings in rapid succession. That's why we're following up the radio debut of the revamped Dezoris Winter with Gray's recently posted "Asian Twilight".

Not to be outdone by the less-than-a-day-old freshness, DarkeSword's Millennial Fair IMC16 remix "Blue Skies Over Guardia" will also be making it's radio debut less than 12 hours after being released to the unwashed masses of General Discussion.

Be sure to check out Red Omen's "Global Control (endblink Mix)" around 10:45 EST and stay later into the night to hear what else is in store (see further above).

For all we know, TimberWolf may call in to yell the word "cocks" in context. Will some drunk females call in again? Will TimberWolf yell "cocks" at THEM??? The AIM chat room will be going as usual, so hit me up at Liontamer87 to join in. See you tonight...

I'm trying to figure out how to resolve the snubbing of GrayLightning, SeattleOverCoat & SuperGreenX, due to the webstream feed crapping out last night. I could do a show tonight, but I won't, only because some people won't be there, and it really wouldn't be fair to do it that way.

What I'm going to do instead is give all 3 of these mixers more airtime for next week's show. I will be playing an additional track from each mixer, and they have the choice of what work of theirs they want played. SGX's latest release "Tell Me A Story" will be one song, SeattleOverCoat's Super Metroid mix "Norfidia" will be another song, and GrayLightning's Legend of the Mystical Ninja mix "Asian Twilight" rounds out the 3 that didn't make it on the air. I felt like crap for them missing out on their airplay, and I'll be in touch will all of them on what else they want played. For some reason, I'm forgetting if I did end up playing SOC's stuff, but I'll give him the double shot anyway. He's been with the show from the very beginning!

Sorry that the webcast cut out in the middle of the show. The lesson could be said that I should stick more hardline to my 2 hour schedule, but that's bullshit. The Emory network went down for maitenence, and it doesn't happen too often, so this was essentially a fluke occurence. Thanks a lot to everyone who chilled in the chat and called in, and hopefully the phone won't be a pain in the ass next week. Species, I hope you do go forward with archiving this week's show. If you'd like to get creative and insert your voice into the part after it cuts out, that'd be hilarious. "Um, yeah, this is where it cut out and we all cried..." The tracklist will be put up sometime tomorrow when I get a chance to go back to the studio and get a hold of it. It was a great show this week until it cut out!

Here's the playlist. The many, many call-ins will be noted once I get the show archive from Species...:

Even if the phone is a pain in the ass, it'll:

A.) be hilarious

and

B.) make people, like Star Salzman, who don't want to hear jack shit from anyone, happy.

Next week is good, I can't make it tonight anyway. Don't worry about the network downage, shit happens when technology is involved. :D Two SGX and GrayLightning tunez next week...that's gonna be hot! You can play Dezoris Winter again like last week as my additional track. :)

Last night was a wierd situation indeed. :) On one hand, I had prank callers. On the other hand, I have remixers & fans who are equally as likely to do prank-style calls (i.e. Vig & the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders). Half the time I don't know if it's anyone from OCR or not. Basically, when you're a legit caller, make sure that the first thing you do is tell me who you are so I know that I can keep you on the phone. I'll don't wanna give off the vibe that I'm going to be squashing calls, since they're fun as hell, but yeah, any bullshit ones shouldn't interfere with the show.

After chatting with several peeps, I've decided to make next week's show a Double Deuce special. There will be two back-to-back tracks from every mixer I decide to play. Some people will get shut out, so I apologize in advance. For now, the following mixers will get 2 tracks next week: SuperGreenX, SeattleOverCoat, GrayLightning, Rayza, Juverna & JigginJonT.

There's room for more peeps on a first-come-first served basis by replying directly to this thread (see how I indirectly force you to bump it; I'm so sneaky). Simply tell me what two tracks of yours you'd like played. It's your choice, but please keep the requests/suggestion at only two and lemme know where I can get 'em. Updates'll follow as I get more contributions. Thanks in advance guys!

Hey man, some DarkeSword music is always nice, right?

I've got an original track I finished recently, and also my Ancient Hero mix could do with some playtime. ^_^

Bother me on AIM about the original track though; I need to give you the full skinny on that.

For anyone I mentioned it to, my financial aid panned out and I was given the additional assitance I needed this morning. :D That means the show will go as planned beyond this Saturday. I finally get to put on the bedsheets I bought, hang up the comic book posters I have, and unpack my luggage.

My sincere thanks for all your support so far for "VG Frequency." Keep the Double Deuce requests coming...

Thanks a lot for the bump, Blake, and thanks to everyone who tuned in or joined the chat at some point during my 3 1/2-hour show at WMRE tonight. Even Protricity. Thanks again to DarkeSword for calling in and providing a very excellent impromptu, yet insightful, interview. My apologies if there's no archive of it, but I don't necessarlity expect there to be one. I'm looking forward to having Shariq on the air again for the ReVamped listening party edition of VG Frequency sometime later this year. I'll definitely hash that out a little further down the line.

Sorry to seem neglectful of putting up my playlists. Show #3's list is now up on page 4. Show #3.5's is below.

The mixes of Fresh Baked Remix Challenge 2 will all be played the week after next, and of course, Saturday is the Double Deuce special. Want double the pimpage? Throw me your requests. Like the show? Cool show last night Larry. I didn't get to hear the last 45 or so minutes cuz my internet went down. :( To everybody who wasn't listening last night, you missed the sad guitar stylings of DCT on Baby Quin's "Done Dem (Rayza Mix)".....man I sure feel sorry for you. The initial tracklisting for the fateful show #3 is now on page 6, while last Wednesday's tracklist for #3.5 is up a few posts above. The archive for show #3.5 is available on my webspace here (https://webdrive.service.emory.edu/users/loji/Larry%20Oji%20(Liontamer)%20-%20VG%20Frequency%20%233.5.rar).

No requests needed for this one, because tonight, we've got double deuce action from Rayza, GrayLightning, Red Omen, mutagene, The Wingless, SeattleOverCoat, Juverna, SuperGreenX, JigginJonT & DarkeSword. Enjoy back-to-back tracks from all of your favorite starving artists!

Going way beyond the call of duty, Ignis has hooked me up with a copy of Final Fantasy: The Black Mages. To go along with tonight's theme, we'll be doing a double shot of Uematsu-produced FF battle theme remixes from the early 2003 DigiCube release. Thanks again to Drew for the serious hookup.

Also, as a very special bonus, Juverna will be calling into the show to make with the talky. Be sure not to miss Candy representing on the air for the West Coast!

Do you like video game music? Do you enjoy original tracks from OCR's remixers? Sure you do. VG Frequency is kicking you in the mouth at 10 PM EST tonight! The info's in the sig. Be sure to check it out!

Thanks a lot to everyone who tuned in, especially to Ignis for the FF: Black Mages CD, Juverna & bLiNd for providing the double deuce of dope interviews, and for all of the new listeners who joined the AIM chat room for the first time tonight. It was a pleasure to have so many new peeps get a taste of the show. Even though I ran way over, the show was phenomenal and the double deuce is a very strong gimmick for a show format in my opinion. Species was able to archive the whole show, though I nearly ran over his 3 hour recording time (just 3 minutes left), so look for the show archive soon. Thanks again to everyone, and make sure to keep tuning in every Saturday night when you can. VG Frequency won't be lettin' ya down.

Next week, we'll have all of the entries from Jeff's Fresh Baked Remix Challenge 2, plus much, much more. BTW, the girls that called in for the Super Mario World & Donkey Kong requests weren't the ones who called two weeks ago. One of the original gamer girls actually called after the show was over, while Bubb Rubb was playing.

Things I learned tonight:
1) I may be a pimp, per se, but we all know DCT's got that truly covered.
2) Juverna loves all of you about as much as she'd love a colonoscopy. Frankly, everyone was way too hard on her in the chat. That's not gonna happen the next time she's on the air.
3) JigginJonT earned at least 15 more fans tonight. He may also kill me when he sees the URL for him in the tracklist, but humility is a virtue.
4) Even guys think Rayza's voice is sexy. (Liontamer: "He had me at 'Hi there...". SeattleOverCoat: "He had me at 'H'.")
5) The Wingless is a widely considered a remixing god among men.

Without further ado, here's your playlist to have...to hold...to cherish:

Larry.....you're dead.

If anyone chooses to go to the website that Larry listed after my name, just be warned that you're going to hit an archive of old MIDIs that I made before I was good, or had even HEARD of OCR (i.e. none of my new stuff is there).

So yeah, thanks Mr. Oji. I think I might take a little trip down to Georgia so I can pat you on the head with a sock full of quarters.

Oh It's true...it's DAMN true.

2) Juverna loves all of you about as much as she'd love a colonoscopy. Frankly, everyone was way too hard on her in the chat. That's not gonna happen the next time she's on the air.
What happened?? I was in the chat room but away from my computer during her call-in....don't tell me they bad-mouthed the poor girl.

Yes, and if it's not too much to ask, if you're connected to the site (not really referring to xXoDiAx here, just using his quote to bring up the incident) could you at least use a fake name in the chatroom- you know, claim you're from GameFAQs or something. There's something rather distasteful about acting so childish at the same time that the site and the remixers are being promoted. *sigh* But anyway... :P

Just wanted to chime in to tell Y2J that this is great program you've got going. I've tuned in a few times and it's really alot of fun. Highly recommend that everyone check it out.

Yes. Darke, Succubus and I tried to get you all to shut up, but you never listened.

What the fuck. What. The. Fuck. It was not a bad interview. I enjoyed her music as well. The show was designed for remixers to be able to call in and be interviewed. The way you assaulted her was pointless and sickening.

The format's gonna be loose next week. Aside from the Fresh Baked 2 submissions, I'll be looking over the chat for show #4 to refresh myself on what requests were made. Off the top of my head, there's gonna be stuff from Unknown, dhsu, Digital Coma & The Coop as well as Dancing Mad from FF: The Black Mages. Species will have the show archive for #4 soon, I believe. Just keep an eye out for it.

I better give my two cents on last Saturday to clear up what's been said. I'm not good at being diplomatic, but I don't want any listeners being resentful with each other. I'd rather my radio thread got bumped with more posts proclaiming the quality of the show, like Israfel's. Or at least startling revelations of a profitable phone sex career (straight), like Rayza's.

As for what happened in the AIM chat during Juverna's interview, it's pretty stupid to treat it like some E! True Hollywood Story scandal. I thought some peeps were kind of rough on Candy while her songs played and while she called in, and could have restrained themselves from the usual bashing everyone gets. Although it's not an issue of Juverna simply being female, some chivalristic courtesy would have been appreciated by me, although if it were Mae or Injury, who knows if they would have gotten the tomato-in-the-face treatment too. On the other side of the coin, however, Candy got too distracted by the joking and felt somewhat insulted, and in retrospect she knows it wasn't a big deal. She's actually a pretty good sport.

I'll hopefully be having Candy back on the show to do a more focused interview, and it's gonna be pretty interesting, so I hope everyone will be more involved in checking out what she has to say next time around. Peep the link, for anyone that needs a little background on Juverna's OCR stuff (http://www.ocremix.org/detailremixer.php?mixerid=89) (and as she said on Saturday, she's working on a revision for her Dragon Seeds mix. Though it's grandfathered, she'll readily admit that she hates it now). I do have the transcript of the AIM chat on my webspace here (https://webdrive.service.emory.edu/users/loji/VG%20Frequency%20%234%20Chat%20Transcript.htm) for anyone that honestly feels the need to check it out. The whole thing is actually pretty funny overall, though of course it's easier to figure out if you were there when the show was playing.

While I appreciate others in the AIM chat trying to keep things more civil, like for Juvy's call-in, keep in mind that, no matter what, we're all pretty much immature males in the 17-22 range. Shit's gonna be wild in there, and it's not indicative of how anyone really acts. To put things in genuine perspective compared to Juvy's call-in, here (https://webdrive.service.emory.edu/users/loji/VG%20Frequency%20%233%20Chat%20Transcript.htm)'s the transcipt of the chat room from last week's infamous show that ended up cutting out. As you'll notice, everyone who called in got ragged on: Star, Vig, DCT, SGX, McNoods, DK, and especially Beatdrop. Dain and Star took some huge potshots in the chat, way worse than anything Candy got. Even my friend Ann put up with Star's um..."tasteful Penthouse Forums beastiality tales" I'll call them.

Honestly, as a listener or guest, don't be surprised if you get ragged on in the chat room, but everyone in the chat room, you've gotta accept that some people aren't gonna be down with getting heckled. A number of you listeners may not think either statement is fair and argue that "some people are too immature; don't be an asshole" or "some people are too thick-skinned; don't get all offended". As your host, neither one holds any weight with me, so I don't care either way. Besides, if all else fails, just rag on me. You know you want to anyway. It's just a video game music radio show. Have fun while you're listening to it. - LT

I'm definitely interested in doing that idea as long as AIM doesn't regularly crap out on me during the show. Ah, memories...

Oh yeah, now that my financial aid is squared away, I'm also gonna be asking for more bumper/ident contributions. If you're interested, please check out the info a few posts down on page 1 for what needs to be covered in a potential bumper. Give back to the hostess with the mostess. Except that I'm male...and not a hostess. Please gimme gimme gimme anyway.

I also just edited page 8 to show to interviews and call-ins for show #4. I'll be listening to show #3 later tonight, revising the show #3 tracklist on page 6, and make both episodes available for download so you can listen to the Beatdrop & DCT (#3) and Juverna & bLiNd (#4) interviews. Thanks to everyone who tuned in this week, including a host of new listeners. I'm always glad to expand the listenership every week, so be sure to keep telling people about it. Just to clarify, like for CaySpekko who joined in late, the VG Frequency chat room is available every week during the show on AIM. Be sure to IM me at Liontamer87 to get in or just join the chat room "VG Frequency". There may not be a show next week, because I'll be on Fall Break, but I'll let you know.

For anyone that would like to listen in, but hate the fact that you need RealPlayer, be sure to pick up the spyware-free, non-invasive program Media Player Classic with Real Alternative. The latest version of the Real Alternative installation pack (https://webdrive.service.emory.edu/users/loji/realalt105.exe) is available from me to download. Pick up the latest QuickTime Alternative pack (https://webdrive.service.emory.edu/users/loji/quicktimealt114.exe) as well if you hate QuickTime Player. [EDIT: These links are down for the moment while I host up episode #5. I'll let you know when they're back up.]

Yeah, in my opinion the interview was great. A little scattershot to be sure, but informative and fun like they all should be, plus it leaves the window wide open for AB to come on the air again. I think any mixer could honestly be able to pull off two 20 minute interviews over the course of the year, since there's so much that you could potentially talk about. Be sure to pick up show #5 here (https://webdrive.service.emory.edu/users/loji/Larry%20Oji%20(Liontamer)%20-%20VG%20Frequency%20%235.zip), so you can check Jack out in all his glory. So far, I've got DCT, Star Salzman, Instant Remedy, Beatdrop, Aaron Ackerson, and the Wingless coming up. This is gonna be a nice, random show! I may have a friend in the studio for the second half, so we'll see how that turns out.

I felt inclined to post the tracklist from VG Frequency #5.5: Late Night Snack. No MP3 archive, just lots of OC ReMixes, and 4 chatting insomniacs: Liontamer, DCT, SuperGreenX & FFmusic Dj. Even though I have the chat transcript, no one will ever truly know what transpired, but I'll give you a hint: SuperGreenX was drunk and easy...:P

VG Frequency #6 has come and gone. Thanks to everyone for the huge turnout. We're always looking to have more and more people come by the AIM chat ("VG Frequency") so please tell a friend to check the show out, keep an eye out next week for the chat and come in. What's the room limit anyway? 36? We can eventually get that, dammit!

Stuff I couldn't get to like analoq's BEER10 submission and EgM's new Ys ReMix will be coming up next week, and there'll be fresh stuff from SeattleOverCoat, DarkeSword & the Wingless as well. We'll also be doing another track from Final Fantasy: The Black Mages, courtesy of Ignis, as well as a Mario tribute track by Jellyfish, courtesy of KyleJCRB. Thanks to KyleJCRB & Beatdrop for this week's call-ins, and hopefully we'll be having DCT on the air next week as well. Thanks again this week to the Coop for providing us with tonight's AIM transcript (https://webdrive.service.emory.edu/users/loji/VG%20Frequency%20%236%20Chat%20Transcript.htm) at a highly suspicious 666K. Why do I have the feeling you people won't be proud to show your kids this stuff one day...? I'm taking suggestions on the subtitle of this week's show. Keep it clean, but keep it funny too.

Without further ado, here's the meaty tracklist:

Larry Oji - WMRE (Emory University Student Radio; Atlanta, GA)
"VG Frequency" - Saturday, October 11, 2003 - 10:10 PM - 12:45 AM EST

1. Satoshi Ise - "Ending 2" [Capcom vs. SNK OST]
2. Rayza f/Liontamer - VG Frequency "Number One Host" Bumper
3. Yasunori Mitsuda - "Chrono Trigger" [Chrono Trigger OST]
4. Aaron Ackerson - Final Fantasy 4 "Chocobo (Strings and Winds)" [OC ReMix #1051 (removed)]
5. "Macho Man" Randy Savage - "Be a Man" [Be a Man]
6. Blak Omen - VG Frequency "Best In Chinatown" Bumper

11. Richard Jacques - "Rusty Ruin (Act 2)" [Sonic 3D Blast OSV]
12. Nobuo Uematsu - "Auron's Theme" [Final Fantasy X OST]
13. KyleJCRB calls in (after Larry reads from the morally subversive chat) and brings the show to a new level of "e-penis"-related debauchery; aside from various chat room insults, we also conversate about Jellyfish's "Ignorance is Bliss", BEER10, a plug for SuperGreenX & FFmusic Dj's Shining Force 3 mix "Force of Light", Kyle potentially becoming an OC ReMix judge, and the "lack of white judges" on the judges' panel (The Wingless: "Boo Whitey!") [http://kngi.tripod.com]
14. The Wingless - Super Metroid "One Girl in All the World" [OC ReMix #1048]
15. Matt Wilson - Sonic the Hedgehog "Green Hill Man" [Mega Man FM]
16. Beatdrop - Jackal "Mounted-Machine Gun Funk" [OC ReMix #677]
17. Junya Nakano - "Luca" [Final Fantasy X OST]
18. Beatdrop calls in to talk about his Jackal remix, his unawareness of The Wingless's brand new OCR judge status, his relative inactivity on the panel, other mixers who are qualified to join the judges' panel, KyleJCRB as a judge, SuperGreenX's approved ICO submission "Save Me", the impetus to actively judge, the fact that the majority of judges' panel submissions are denied, judge-hate threads on the OCR forums, the Star Fox & Sonic the Hedgehog 2 Ultimate Collaboration Projects, Operations, weird and annoying fans including one guy from Chile who he dumped onto K. Praslowicz, Kill Bill: Volume One, and VG Frequency's now legendary chat room abuse (DJ Flip Side: "Soapdrop") [http://rks.no-ip.com/~beatdrop]
19. Star Salzman - VG Frequency "Star Egotism" Bumper
20. Star Salzman - "Treatise" [http://www.starblast.org]

You should play my (http://gorpower.reallyrules.com/gorveg-shoulddaltontakepower.mp3) BEERmix  Shread some eardrums! :D

Seriously though, I look forward to listenin to a few shows, but my 56k doesn't see it that way

Definitely go ahead and try and peep the show, even if you're on 56K. There may be buffering issues, but people have managed to tune in before like that.

As for BEER10, we'll see if any entries are worth it... :)

It's not dial-up friendly, just to mention. I decided this could interest a few people when they're bored, so I quickly made an MP3.com station today. Check out the focus of it. If you know of more OC ReMixers with original material hosted on MP3.com, please let me know.

Thanks, Dan. Yeah, I thought it'd be a good idea, and I was in a good position to do it, since I've tried to find out the homepages and MP3.com pages of pretty much every remixer on the site during my two years here. If you scroll down and check everything out, you'll see quite a few different names on there. I'm sure I've definitely overlooked a few people, whether it be because they're infrequent OCR contributors or have MP3.com pages under another handle, so please keep pointing stuff out for me.

I've already got your stuff on there Mike, although I have to go through the tedious process of listing everyone in alphabetical order, so everything's a little easier to find. I thought it would be a lot easier to organize than the way MP3.com sets it up. If you're feeling brave enough to weather the depravity and insanity of the VG Frequency chat room on AIM, definitely IM me on Saturday night and come see how it is if you're checking the show.

DJ Abjurator (http://www.ocremix.org/detailremixer.php?mixerid=235) (who made the very popular Rockman & Forte "Hyperrock Fortissimo") was nice enough to PM his info, so hopefully, we'll have Galen come on the air for in interview sometime soon, not to mention check out the AIM chat.

There's an hour and change left until we're underway with OCR on the radio. "New" is the word of choice tonight. We've got fresh stuff from EgM, SeattleOverCoat, MC, Beatdrop, DarkeSword, Vigilante, GrayLightning & Freemind, analoq, and The Wingless.

Last week we had what amounts to controversy in our isolated video game remix community the removal of the FF4 Piano Collections mix from Aaron Ackerson, "Chocobo (Strings and Winds)". After playing that last week, this week Final Fantasy 4 leads us to the recently rejected remix by Kevin Stephens & Russell Cox, "Four Fantasies". Do Final Fantasy IV, pianos, and OverClocked ReMix seemingly not go together?

The Wingless wants to share two tracks that make him tick. Take a cryptic journey into the musical mind of the J. A. Burnett and don't forget to bring a sick bag as we let both Kalliope and the Big Tymers loose on an unsuspecting world. KyleJCRB pimps out a favorite track of his radio show, Nitro Game Injection, with Jellyfish's King Koopa inspired "Ignorance is Bliss". Ignis brings you the Final Fantasy V remix from FF: The Black Mages, "Clash on the Big Bridge". Also, Gorveg won't rest till your ears bleed with his Chrono Trigger/Zeal theme BEER10 submission "Should Dalton Take Power", while Eulogic wants to take you on "A Ride Through the Ghetto".

And DCT will be joining the show as our special guest to talk about his latest tracks, "Paul" which we had last week, and his DarkeSword inspired remix of 50 Cent's In Da Club, "In Da Club (Dark Sword Mix)", which will be featured tonight.

What else will happen? Who the hell knows? You think I plan this out? Join the madness tonight at 10 PM EST. The sig has the link. The details below have my AIM. Hang out with the listeners at the AIM chat "VG Frequency". See you there, unless you don't like fun...

Great, my throat is killing me now after that damn interview.

You people want rhymes?

I keep coming back like an incurable rash
And smack you kids like rowdy children in mass
You really want it? Come and spit it to me next
Make you bite the curb like American History X
I'm so bright that if you could see what's on my mind right?
It makes you squint like you opened the fridge late at night
Boys wanna be men and so they try beefin' with lines
But face to face they silent like a meeting of mimes
Who told you could rhyme? Why do you even try?
Myself? I aint stopping till my watch is as blue as the sky
I been nice since 8-6 bringing Hip-Hop back to basics
Cuz my flow is out of this world like a UFO space ship
I walk through the desert in a North Face I can take the heat
You need beats to hype your rhymes, but my rhymes make the beat
I don't touch cats like a thug with 2 glocks on
I touch the masses more like a 2Pac poem
You're welcome.

Thanks a lot to everyone who tuned into show #7 this past Saturday. It was definitely an eventful, and LONG show! We had quite a few new people this week which is always good, so thanks for all the new faces. Thanks to DCT, Succubus & Vigilante for providing excellent call-ins/interviews. Details on those will be provided once Species (thank you!) releases the show archive. Sorry to Species for running over, since he sets the recording time to 3 hours, and I know it's frustrating every time I go "Yeah, it's over...oh wait/ah shit...let's do something else" when we're seemingly going to wrap up. I'll definitely try and stay within our timeframe no matter how close I may end up getting.

Thanks to Jared Hudson for another new bumper introing the show. You can check it out here (http://www.ocremix.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=26685) if you wanna comment in the thread Jared made for it. This is his first foray into doing a radio spot, so drop comment if you can. I'm definitely glad to give people like Rayza, Star Salzman & Jared (who have told me that they're glad to do an idea like this) an avenue to do radio spots and just play around with ideas for them.

Also, for those of you who weren't available to stick around after the main show wrapped up, I stayed on the air for another 3 1/2 hours beyond 1 AM. There was a lot of good stuff involved, to say the least. Minus all the dumb callers (though they were funny as hell), thanks to all the people who called in: Juverna, bLiNd, Succubus, The Wingless & Dj Abjurator, as well as all the ironmen & ironwomen who hung in there for most of the extra stuff. Though we won't have an MP3 archive of any of the hijinx from the 3 1/2 overrun, if you really wanna know some of what I played and wanna catch a glimpse of what we all taked about, have fun looking around within this week's chat transcript (https://webdrive.service.emory.edu/users/loji/VG%20Frequency%20%2307%20Chat%20Transcript.htm). I gotta say, The Wingless is one of the funniest fucks on this earth. Funny. Funny. Funny. You haven't lived till you've talked to the Wingless for 20 minutes, let alone 2 minutes.

I still have yet to set a date on having the Brothers Chaps on the air for the Homestar Runner interview, so I'm still unsure of when they'll be free to be on, but if Mike & Matt aren't on next Saturday, we'll be having interviews for show #8 from Dj Abjurator & The Wingless, as well as new tracks from FFmusic Dj, SeattleOverCoat & Daniel Baranowsky, so make sure to check it out nonetheless.

The archive for show #6 (https://webdrive.service.emory.edu/users/loji/Larry%20Oji%20(Liontamer)%20-%20VG%20Frequency%20%2306.rar) is still available for a little longer, and don't forget to check out the slew of OCRtists original works available for listening at the VG Frequency MP3.com Station (http://www.mp3.com/stations/vgfrequency).

Enough chatter, here's you tracklist:

DCT calls in for an interview on the first day of regaining his voice to discuss "In Da Club (Dark Sword Mix)", how he originally thought up of the concept and the possible upcoming distribution of the mix, his Sonic 3 remix "Welcome to Hydro City", a desire to do more rap a capella remixes, a project brewing with himself and his friends to rap over some OC ReMixes, the potential of his Super Street Fighter 2 remix "Jamaican Soul" getting posted to OCR, the inspiration from McVaffe & Rayza to remix video game music, feelings on his late friends, Paul Miller & Unishun Mollete, and the creation of the memoriam track "Paul", joining Joshua Morse's Dash Studio and original material he hopes to put out for the group, SoundTempest.net and undue criticisms received there about the Jamaican-ness of "Jamaican Soul", updating and pimping his homepage, who he'd want to collab with, his parent's resturant Delval's in Peekskill, New York, and his roommate's party getting busted last week [http://www.thebigshot.com]
22. Succubus calls in at a mere 10¢ a minute from the not-yet-frosty locale of Winnipeg, Manitoba and banters about the chat room's concern of Larry's overusage of the word "yo", the mystery of who she's calling in the States (she could be a double agent!), when she first discovered OCR and her fandom of Rayza, the intricacies of the standard and metric systems, the improvements of VG Frequency and her hand in spreading the word on the show, and the poor readers of the UnMod sex education thread
23. The Wingless - StarFox "Retro Thrust" [http://www.thewingless.com]
24. Vigilante calls in for an interview before watching the Family Guy: Season 1 DVD with Vixen and gives his thoughts on his hectic schedule this week including the production of "Desire" & "Optimism" as sample tracks for Harvard, the composition work he's looking to do in college, potential ideas for new OC ReMixes, including a collab with The Wingless, a waltz/swing remix of "Song of Storms" from The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time and a latin jazz remix of "Shademan's Theme" from Mega Man 7, the new Super Metroid combination track of "So It Begins..." & "Zebesian Midnight", his remixes and how he was selected as an OCR judge, interesting yet androgynous fanmail, VGMix2, the high quality of the latest posted OC ReMixes, the controversy on the rejected submission "Four Fantasies" and why he chose to vote NO on it, if the luster of being a judge potentially wears off, Vixen & MIT radio, the lengthy nature of the OCR submission process, his friendship with Protricity, and a friendly exiting potshot at Star Salzman [http://www.geocities.com/jesse_taub]
25. Andre, approvingly nicknamed "Vice City" by the chat room, calls in asking where Larry's bitches are and to tell us an important story about fish ("Have fun but watch it, watch it but have fun")

28. Nobuo Uematsu - "Conversation with Culex" [Super Mario RPG OST]

OMG, yeah. I read through it this morning and was just amazed at how often you kept pimping it and I kept missing it, like an idiot. ("Hey, when are you gonna do Dream Pipe? ... DREAM PIPE!!!!!") Really sorry, Shariq. I know it's not too big a deal, and it doesn't happen often, but I do feel bad when I forget to do things. There's always so much going on, because I have to file track information in our station's tracklist database for everything I play, that I can miss things like requests and suggestions. And I know you asked me earlier to play Dream Pipe and I forgot to put it on the damn playlist. If anyone has to ask for format changes ("Bump my song up, cuz I have to go!"), remind me that I need to play your stuff ("Larry, you douchebag, you forgot song X"), or just tell me something in general, definitely send me an IM directly, so I'll definitely see it. I know The Wingless & Jared Hudson managed to flag me down mid-show when I didn't notice what they were saying. If you just comment in the chat, you could be throwing your words down a black hole! :) My apologies again yo, though I will be playing Dream Pipe again next week, just in case the full playing of the mix didn't make it onto Species' archive.

No problem, Dain. Not everyone can be there every week; I'd never get mad at anyone for missing the show. For example, Star Salzman's been MIA for the last few weeks, and hasn't been accepting the chat invites, so I hope everything's OK with him. Why be miffed at that? No need to offer anything exclusive (though that's always good!). You've already done me a huge service by hooking me up with a quality bumper. I snagged Final Energy since it was very, very fresh, and I know you'd want people to check it out early. It definitely fit a theme with the show, since pretty much everything was material released in the past week or so. As you continue work on the album as a whole, just make sure to remind me when you issue out new tracks, and I'll make sure to play 'em. No worries on El Wango either. If the Homestar Runner interview isn't next week, which it probably won't be, John'll be calling in again next week!

I gotta say, The Wingless is one of the funniest fucks on this earth. Funny. Funny. Funny. You haven't lived till you've talked to the Wingless for 20 minutes, let alone 2 minutes.

Why Lawerence... is that an E*Penis™ in your pocket or are you just happy to interview me?

Clearly, I'm very, very happy to interview the Wingless. I would draw an E-penis, but I almost regret even creating that word!

Ironically enough, we go from a 6 1/2 show last Saturday to my announcement that it looks as if WMRE has hired some new DJs to take over the empty slots including two n00bs for the 12 - 2 AM spot, which means that it looks like I'll be sticking tight to a 2-hour format. Will these noob DJs actually come in for their timeslot unlike the last losers? Well, if they don't, they'll be the 3rd set of peeps to never come in. We'll see though.

Sweet! Some Ben Folds style. This is tight. Did you sample a track or do something yourself? Let me know, cuz I'm definitely interested in the specifics. It's not amateurish at all, Jon. You artists, always downplaying  the talent. This'll definitely be leading into your track for next Saturday. The only question is, what track do you want me to play, Jon? It's your choice yo.

BTW, Jon, Ben Folds is coming to play at Emory on November 4th. Check out the article (http://www.emorywheel.com/vnews/display.v/ART/2003/10/21/3f960cdc1f449) from this past Tuesday.

Man, I wish I did that myself. That was just a clip from the end of "Uncle Walter" by Ben Folds Five, my favorite track off their self-titled album (if you haven't heard that album yet, GET IT. NOW.)

The only question is, what track do you want me to play, Jon? It's your choice yo.

How about you play Anthem? I've been thinking of re-titling it to "Sabin Departs the Realm," in case you were still wondering if I'd ever get around to changing the name. Oh yeah, and I have a cross country meet up in Fresno on Saturday, so I don't know if I'll be back in time for the broadcast. Yo.

Dope dope. "Anthem" will be on this coming Saturday, along with the new bumper. I'll try and hold off on it as long as I can, to give you the best chance to possibly get back and hear everything over the air. You might be too spent from the meet in Fresno, so I'd personally just get boozed up and pass out, but if you wanna try and catch the tail end of the show, go for it!

Me and the Wingless were debating last week as pimps over the practicality and validity of flying hoes across the country with priceline.com. That doesn't really have to do with anything directly, but if you ponied up the dough, Jon, and flew to ATL, I could get you a ticket to Ben Folds and provide you with quality housing. Too bad time and money don't grow on trees. I'm sure Ben Folds would be very impressed with Live from the Yggdrasil.

For those among you that don't have/want RealPlayer, download the lastest version of RealAlternative (https://webdrive.service.emory.edu/users/loji/realalt110.exe), which features inprovements to Media Player Classic, and allows you to check out all Real filetypes, including VG Frequency's webstream. Don't forget to snag the latest version of QuickTime Alternative (https://webdrive.service.emory.edu/users/loji/quicktimealt121.exe) as well from me if you don't like QuickTime Player.

We've got a great show this week with new stuff from FFmusic Dj, Beatdrop, The Wingless, Mark Vera, DarkeSword, Daniel Baranowsky & Dj Abjurator, along with SeattleOverCoat, JigginJonT & Wave Theory (if I have time there). Unknown's newly posted Dragon Warrior remix, "Kingdom Come" is also gonna be featured. (Nice work, Ty!) Dj Abjurator & The Wingless will be calling in this week for interviews, so be sure to check 'em out. What j00 waiting for? If you haven't been listening to this show, ya need to start. :P

For those of you who haven't been following it, reelmojo's started The People's Remix Competition. For the first contest, the contestants remixed Doom's theme for E1M9, "Hiding the Secrets", with some very impressive results. Once we have a winner, we'll be spotlighting the PRC1 submissions next week, though we will have Dj Abjurator's entry "DbD (Death by Distortion)" tonight. I'd love to do them this week, but we're already full, and besides, we have no winner yet. Check the thread out (http://www.ocremix.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=26630), listen to all the entries, and PM reelmojo with your choice as the winner. It's for the people.

I don't even know if I have time for everything, because I will be cutting it very close to 2 hours. Aside from the interviews, there's not gonna be much time for talk, so I'll be gabbing a lot less tonight. See you at 10.

Thanks to everyone who tuned in this past weekend, and thanks again to Dj Abjurator & The Wingless for providing quality interviews. The show was hectic as hell for me, since I was (and will be from now on) crammed into a two-hour time limit and didn't have as much freedom to just waste time and blab around like usual. Plus, we're now implementing lame commercials at WMRE to pay the bills. It was still a quality show, but I had to cut a few things from this week's show in order to fit within my 2 hours. Thus, we'll be having Mark Vera's latest original, JigginJonT's new bumper and his recent FF6 remix, as well as Wave Theory & FF: The Black Mages all reserved for next week's show. I know Jon T. was at a track meet on Saturday, so holding his stuff until next week will at least give him a chance to hear it over the air. In addition to the tracks being held over until next week, we'll be featuring the entries of first edition of the reelmojo-created People's Remix Competition, and Jared Hudson's track for the Siggraph 2003 convention, "Kromm the Headhunter".

As it relates to the chat room on AIM, I gotta point out that it's not hard to find it. Just invite yourself to the chat room name "VG Frequency" and that's all you need to do. It's the same room name every week, and it'll never be any different. I'll invite you myself if I see you, but it's not a 100% guarantee I'll see you if you sign on late while I'm underway with the show. Also, I encourage you to bookmark the show's webstream URL (which is in my sig) in your media player of choice to save yourself the hassle of asking me/the chat for it every week. And get RealAlternative while you can if you hate RealPlayer. It's still at my webspace: https://webdrive.service.emory.edu/users/loji

Pick up the AIM chat transcript (https://webdrive.service.emory.edu/users/loji/VG%20Frequency%20%2308%20Chat%20Transcript.htm) for this week's show and see what all the listeners were yakking about. Probably something adult in nature.

Delaying no further, here's this week's tracklist:

23. Dj Abjurator - "The River Speaks" [Abjurator: Electronica]
24. Dj Abjurator - "Embrace the World" [Abjurator: Electronica]

Hahaha. The mysteries that arise when you leave in the middle of the show! :P Out of the 5 songs I played from Dj Abjurator, his 3 originals were playing in the background while I conducted my interview with him. Galen's Rockman & Forte mix was before the interview and his new Doom mix was after it. "Empath" was looping non-stop from The Wingless's site while I interviewed him.

Don't worry about Wingless, Species. He's not uppity. The sarcasm's just dripping out of his urethra! :D

Thanks to Species, the collection of episodes for VG Frequency is complete :!: with episodes #1, #7 & #8 now available for download, including his pure genius  in providing episode #7 with the full version of DarkeSword's Dream Pipe and saving it from cutting off. As usual, big, big thanks to everyone who tuned in, and Species for hooking us up with the MP3 archive, which turned out very well tonight. Look for it fairly soon, perhaps even tomorrow. Thanks to OverCoat (sans Seattle), The Coop & The Wingless for hooking me up with the fresh cuts this week as well. Come in early, Blak_Omen, so you don't miss anything! I'll definitely take your chat transcript tomorrow, Coop, to see if I need to add anything to the one I snagged. I miss "the whistles go WHOO" too. :) Thanks also to JigginJonT & Jared Hudson for providing some high quality interviews. The time I spent prepping for 'em, despite me feeling very beat today, was definitely well worth it, and I appreciate you guys calling in and making bumpers!

Since I knew I'd just have 2 hours tonight, I was able to prepare a lot better for the time limit, and had zero problems whatsoever, despite me not really having time to chill around in the chat room. I'm gonna have to read it over it later and see what was goin' on. The MP3 archive is up and ready for download at my webspace courtesy of Species 8472. Check out the tracklist at the bottom of page 14, and get show #9, as well as other episodes, at my webspace: https://webdrive.service.emory.edu/users/loji/.

For those who want to get right to the interviews, you can listen in to JigginJonT's interview at 17 minutes & Jared Hudson's interview at 76 minutes. Thanks again to everyone who check it out. Questions & comments are appreciated. Keep it with VG Frequency next Saturday, peeps.

Are you going to do a cd set archive of shows like SRX did?
Hmmm...I dunno, Edge. The archives are all done in 24kbps/22khz/mono format to go for a smaller file size with the download, so I'm not sure if anyone would be interested in getting a CD of the shows if the bitrate isn't high. If you would be interested nonetheless, I may seriously do something like that. For the upcoming Homestarrunner.com interview, I'm definitely going to see what we can do at WMRE (and with any listeners, as well) with recording that show in at least a 128kbps bitrate. Thanks for the interest, Edge. You should hang out in the AIM chat room if you wanna check out the show live next week.

Well, I was never one for streaming audio on the net, but Im big on donating to anything that is vg music related (except some exceptions *cough cough*) so I would be open to buying a set for whatever you would charge, cost of production wise or whatever.

Size has little to do with it actually. But you knew that, unless you forgot about it. In which case you just found out about it... again.

Ah yes. Let's not forget that the WMRE webstream is too spotty to record the show at a higher bitrate. RealPlayer....

Waking up this evening/early morning has been very productive. I got to check out the second half of KyleJCrb's radio show "Nitro Game Injection (http://kngi.tripod.com)", and two OCR submissions that I've been anticipating very, very highly finally made it up in "Dezoris Winter" & "Belmont Lounge".

To celebrate these quality tracks finally receiving the Pretzel seal of approval, they'll be featured next Saturday on VG Frequency, along with the other side of the coin in GrayLightning's & Dan Baranowsky's first VGMix submissions "Schala: Memories Lost in Time 2" and "The Galaxy is at Peace". Along with Dan's Super Metroid mix being on OCR as well, Gray's Chrono Trigger mix is a revisitation of his older OC mix "Memories Lost in Time".

Not to be outdone, bLiNd has just completed his latest track for the upcoming album from KFSS Studios, Project Majestic Mix Trance, and you'll be getting the exclusive hookup this Saturday in this 3rd part of the PMM Trance preview. For those of you who've been following bLiNd's progress intently, get ready to revist an old favorite.

To allow more time for music, I'll be sticking to only one interview from now on, but if you have any requests (Larry, play my st00f!) or wanna come on the air for an interview (Larry, I like the sound of my own voice!), feel free to lemme know, with a bias towards anyone who hasn't had the opportunity to give an interview yet.

More stuff will be previewed later in the week, but for now, be sure to pick up the available episodes up from my webspace (https://webdrive.service.emory.edu/users/loji/) featuring interviews with KyleJCrb [#1], DCT/Succubus/Vigilante [#7], The Wingless/Dj Abjurator [#8] & JigginJonT/Jared Hudson [#9]. There's also the very excellent MP3.com station available at http://www.mp3.com/stations/vgfrequency that focuses on remixer originals, so be sure to bookmark that.

Panzer Dragoon Azel & Orta requests DENIED!

For now, there's no scheduled interview tonight. If you want your 15 minutes though, feel free to leave me a message sometime before 5 PM EST while I'm asleep. No interview's just as well, because there's tons of st00f in store and it's gotta fit within 2 hours. Along with the already featured tracks from Dan Baranowsky, GrayLightning and bLiNd (it's a secret!), we've got remixes from Shadow, SuperGreenX & MC, a MegaMan II submission from the aspiring BliziHiZaKe, old school flavor from Mellogear, Nate Cloud, SkyHigh, Spram & Injury, and fresh cuts with the lastest two OC ReMixes from Trace Kyshad & silent. OverCoat also adds a little extra "sabor" to the mix with a brand new bumper debuting tonight!

You should already know the drill: http://www.emory.edu/WMRE/wmre.ram is the link for the webstream, and you need RealPlayer [thumbs down] or RealAlternative [thumbs up] to check it out.
The AIM chat room is "VG Frequency" as always. Invite yourself in, or hit me up with an IM at Liontamer87, to hang out with us OC remixers & fans while we all act strangely! 10 PM EST...that's soon.

First off, I wanna thank Species for his recording as usual. It'll be out whenever he has a chance to look over the recording and master it, but big props to Species for hooking me up every week. Be on the lookout for it. Thanks of course to everyone who contributed mixes & requests. This was a very diverse mix of tracks. Last week's show went absolutely great, but this one went even smoother, and I really had a good time again. I really appreciated everyone tuning in, and thanks a lot to all the peeps who pimped the hell out of the show to get a whole bunch of new people this week. Not everyone decided to stay the whole time, but I'll be looking for the new people over the next few days to thank them for stopping by and checking my lil' radio show out. We're bigger & better every week, so keep tuning in!

To check out what the peeps were saying about all the stuff on this week's episode, check out this week's chat transcript (https://webdrive.service.emory.edu/users/loji/VG%20Frequency%20%2310%20Chat%20Transcript.htm) courtesy of OverCoat (¡Olé!). Because I'm the man, I managed to pick up this month's WMRE Show Spotlight. Check it out here (http://www.emory.edu/WMRE/submenus/other/spotlight/vgf.html). The links at the bottom need to be fixed to actually work, but the webmaster just forgot to make them not add to the root of the WMRE URL. But they're there anyway, and they'll be fixed up soon. Roam around the site to check out some of the other shows as well. Don't know why we have a purple/pink site scheme when our school colors are blue & gold, but no one said life ever made sense. With the show spotlight up now, I hope some of the people/lurkers here on the OCR boards will finally feel enough incentive to check the show out.

I'm also gonna be joining the tech department in an effort with our tech director to get something done about changing our stream. Apparently, it's more difficult than it sounds. Nothing will happen immediately, but we'll see what we can do.

Make sure to pimp VG Frequency at the WMRE website guestbook (http://htmlgear.tripod.com/guest/control.guest?u=stsulli&i=1&a=view), and be sure to pimp your own URL as well.

I can't host all my shows at once (though I don't have a problem with that right now), but I will have some text interviews up fairly soon depending on who I get permission from. Although more stuff will be coming soon, feedback on what else I can add to my show's webpage is appreciated.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So it's gonna be a 3 hour show this Saturday. I have no problem playing whatever I have, but I'm definitely looking for requests to fill this 3 hours show. Keep your suggestion to only 1 song, to maximize how many peeps can get their requests in, and get your choice to me on the thread (WITH linkage) by Saturday early afternoon. If you PM me or IM me, that's fine, but I may get that stuff lost in the shuffle.

MP3.com is dumping all of its current content December 2nd, which is why it's very important to check out VG Frequency's MP3.com station, "VG Frequency: Originals" (http://www.mp3.com/stations/vgfrequency) to check out the largest selection of original tracks by OC ReMixers before the station's gone forever. Be sure to bookmark it and use the 2 weeks to sample as much music as you can, before the chance is gone.

Tracks that are confirmed for Saturday are
1) rundll's Judge Dredd VGMix "Megacity Megasound" at Rayza's request
2) A jazz/big band original by Jaroban of Interdit and SMB Medley fame, "Shades of Change"
3) Jared Hudson's recently complete menu music for the Half-Life mod G.H.O.S.T. Ops, "G.H.O.S.T. Ops Theme"
4) Beatdrop's newest track from his forthcoming album Final Energy, "danger/poison"
5) The newest VGMix from Dan Baranowsky, "Awakened Fears of the Gerudo"
6) A unique take on SMW's Overworld BGM on VGMix, B1itz Lunar's "Donut Grooves"
7) The lastest OC ReMix by the hugely popular Billy Christiansen, i.e. Symphonic Chronicles, "It's About Time"
8) Wave Theory's 14-minute "Breakbeat Demo Mix" from earlier this year
9) A classic original track by The Black Lodge, "Summer '99"
10) We'll also be sneaking in Star Salzman's creative original "Fat Dong", and trust me, that song's playling at some ludicrously late time after the show recording is over

The show goes from 10 PM - 1 AM EST for the recording of about 3 hours, then I'm staying until at least 2 AM to hang out with whoever else is around in the VG Frequency AIM chat room and play extra tracks. This is definitely the best time to pimp the show out to other people you know, so please encourage others to check it out this week. See everybody tomorrow.

Hey, thanks for playing Blak and me's stuffs, Larry. :D Sucks that the show cut out early, though...maybe you can do an all nighter.

And I'm serious, Larry. You gotta sing a VG theme every week. The listeners'll love it, trust me. Doesn't even have to have lyrics...just your standard generic "doo doo" or "dum dum" stuff. Try it out, man. It's gonna be all the rage, I just know it...

First things first, thanks to Species for the show recording. The Wingless, I know, is very intent on hearing Hindu Bob again, and everyone enjoyed the hijinx while it lasted, so be out the lookout for the archive in the near future. Thanks to the peeps who called and listened. I gotta apologize for the show cutting out for everyone at Midnight when there were supposed to be another 2 hours, but Emory decided that Midnight would be a good time to reset the network. When they do that, someone has to manually reset WMRE's webstream feed, and they don't do that until the weekday. I'm working on changing stuff now that I've gotten pissed enough to join the tech department.

To get the second half's stuff played like it was supposed to be, I'm doing another show tonight/late-night from 12 - 2 AM. I know that's not convenient for a lot of people, so apologies, but I'd like to get everything done on the air as I promised so I can have a clean slate for next week.
