I liked it but I didn't like it as much as the FF4 peice he did (of whome I have forgotten the name of :( )
But yeah, I did enjoy it all in all. :)

This is very good! I love the 600 AD song, and this dude just takes it up a notch. Nothing bad to say about this one...Just that I love how he adds plenty of emotion into this song.

This is frankly beautiful, and anyone who says differently is wrong. I don't care if it's an opinion or not, they are wrong. Not that anyone has made that claim here, but I'm just getting that little fact out of the way before I continue.
On a technical level, I think this is about equivelent, or maybe a little more complex than his "Tale in Piano" for FFIV. However, I think that the source material for this peice is more emotional and powerful than Tale in Lute (which Tale in Piano was based off of) which gives a direct advantage to this peice.
As far as comparing this to "Town Life in Piano", another chrono trigger work, this is worlds away in terms of quality. Quite frankly... I found Town Life to be a little... bland. Dull. Technically high quality, but without much soul.
This has soul. This has PLENTY of soul. If I were to have a complaint about it, that complaint would be that it's only three minutes long. I mean, other piano works (not by klutz) have been eight minutes long! This could have been extended that far, and I'll bet still maintained the beauty, but... heck. How can I complain? This is three minutes of bliss!
I congratulate you man. This is awesome work. Good job.

So, I thought Klutz was capable of far better than this. This song, though as good as usual, could have been much better. 3 minutes is rather lazy, and the song lacked in arrangement. It was basically a 'standard piano remix' of the CT theme and it could have been more.

I loved it and my ears as well!!!
I love my ears too!!! And this remix as well!!! Actually no, I don't love this remix. It's good, but it sounds too much like something I'd hear in church.
I like Israfel's comment from the juding forum:
I may have grown tired of right hand-melody/ left hand-arpeggio type piano pieces
ME TOO!!! This technique makes every piano song sound the same for some reason.

Wow, more good stuff from Klutz. I have a soft spot for piano arrangements, and this really hits the spot. Not long or drawn out, it's to the point and flows quite nicely. I give it a 7/10.

Nooooooooooooo!I was the frist one to dl this song but i had to go to some class'es so i missed out on posting a review. Ack!!! I could have been the frist one on this review list!!! Oh well. This song is pretty good although i have to loop it like it never ends to get my fix. Longer!!!Also with respect to the song being a all out piano remix, it could of used some strings. There was soooo meny spots that would have been beautiful with strings. Here's an exsample of what i'm talking about.http://www.ocremix.org/detailmix.php?mixid=OCR00130That would have made it a 15 out of 10 if it did did something like that.http://www.geocities.com/shido_lohart/NightwalkerTwlightlogo.txt

I don't get why length is an issue here. I find that if a song goes on for too long, you stop listening to it after a while. This is particularly true of Spekkosaurus's wonderful "Trial in Concert". It's a beautiful piece of music, yes, but the sheer length of the piece means that it often gets pushed aside for other songs.
I love everything about this song - good length, very beautiful. It's good stuff to relax to, and is a little bit better overall then "Town Life in Piano", due to it holding the interest more. I've actually had this song on my computer for a while, I'm not sure where I got the old one that I had :?:
Still, always great to see high quality stuff getting posted :)

Very true, Out-Trigger.
I've had this song downloaded since probably almost a year ago, from Klutz' site. I knew it would show up here eventually, as it's another fantastic arrangement by Klutz. :)
Personally, I prefer some of his other works, like his FFVII Overworld arrangement and his original composition "The Quest," but this song shows some different styles from Klutz, and is definitely a welcome addition to OC Remix.
Excellent stuff. :)

oddly enough, i am sort of in agreement with prot here.
this is the 4th piano song klutz has done that follows the exact same structure/format. it sounds great, yes, but i'd like to see more variety. experiment around with different ways of playing the piano besides arpeggio-based playing like this. also, i think i remember hearing some piano+orchestra pieces by him a while back and it would be nice to get a remix like that instead of just more solo piano that follows the same format every time.

Have to say, I'm going to disagree with quite a few posts here... while this is a good sounding arrangement overall, it's very much lacking. It.. sounds like it's half improv, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it also means in this case that the harmony is very bland, as well as the accompaniment structure. It's just more of the same, to the point where one wonders whether Klutz is capable of doing much more than this. The short length does beg the question... did Klutz simply run out of ideas?
There was also this... uneasiness about the introduction that I didn't like, like he was having trouble controlling the notes, and resulting in a few oddly accented notes. That said, I do like CT arrangements because it's excellent music to begin with, and this is better than a lot of stuff out there. The overall performance and recording quality is very good, but I guess you'd expect that from an electric piano. I also appreciate that this recording is very old... Klutz has most likely improved since.

This is a very nice remake of the 600 A.D
I think it would have to be one of my favorite songs on the Chrono Trigger OST, and this was a great remake.
I love the length (3:00), and open and end, nice job.

Real, beautiful, passionate. I haven't heard klutz's other stuff, so I can't speak to the whole "it's the same as the other ones" argument. All I know is that he's given this theme a wonderful pair of hands to flow through.
I've listened to the original recently -- this adds in a nice, sad touch to it. Almost like nostalgia for 600 AD. I listened to this on loop for a good half hour: this is my new brooding song.
There's immense talent here. Generic style or not, this guy has IMMENSE talent. Hope he keeps it up.
I'd like to take this moment to agree with Rayagon and review this remix without comparing it to anything else. The moment I pressed the play button in Winamp and heard the first few notes, I knew this would great. And I was right. I may just be a sucker for piano, but this made me feel like I died and went to Heaven. I don't think it's fair to compare this to the other works of kLuTz and say they're the same, or whatever other criticism. On its own, this is an excellent piece of work. While some might call it short, I personally don't think of three minutes as short. Not every remix can be an eight minute masterpiece.

09-18-2003, 03:21 PM
the question comes through, would we want 8 minutes of this?
What this song does, it does well. It is a short, concise, deliberate, straightforward rendition of the world map theme (a type of theme, that in videogames isnt always known for the best compostion or emotion). What this song lacks in imagination and time, it makes up for in strength. This is a strong peice that uses the existing material in a manner that needs no additions. Klutz could have gone crazy and done a solo, or mixed in a second theme, or even added more instruments or some other gimmick all together. Instead we see this one song, without any frills or tricks, stripped to the bones, and built back up in a simple and beautiful manner. Props to klutz for this one. it is a remix to remember.
kLuTz I love all of your remixes, but I have a question.
The FFVII song- A World of Piano that you did was by far my favorite and i was wondering if you have a copy of the sheet music, i dont know how you do your remixes if you write the sheet music down or just remember it but if you do have the sheet music for a world of piano, could i please have a copy of it. Im doing a project in my music class in college and i would love to play your piece.
Thank you

:sobbing:
...:sniff:....Oh, kLuTz....
:joyous wailing ensues:
:floor drenched in tears:
...You've made me such a happy man. Ever so blissfully happy.
You see, this is my favorite song from the game, and I have practiced my own version of it on the piano. So hearing this is like hearing a tribute to my life's works and efforts. I've always wanted to hear the song this way, kLuTz, ever since I first heard it. After hearing this, my body and mind have melded into one keenly observed air of flutteryness or some such. It's like you're living my dream. But I enjoy it, because I could never do it anywhere near this well. And because I can't submit ReMixes in the first place.
kLuTz, you have given me new MEANING by submitting this. This is the greatest thing to ever touch my ears. I'm lost in a trance of bliss, and I don't want it to end. I AM *HIGH* on this song.
Alright, now I'll try to get over my happiness of body and mind for just a few minutes to comment on your arrangement.
This arrangment is so good, I think I'd like to have my ears arrange it all over again, or some such. You know what I mean. I love how well it follows the original tune while still being great. I'm not exactly sure how you pulled that off, because there were serious flaws in the original. But anyway, I enjoy particularly the extra notes and chords you threw in. They add so much without adding too much. Do you know what I mean?
Coming form another perspective, the ending is great too. I very much enjoy how it goes so high and clean. It makes an incredibly fitting end to the song. My only problem is that it's so short, but I suppose this was incredibly hard to do, and it's no issue when the song is 'en loop. I suppose I'll just be positive. So, instead of thinking of it as "three minutes short" I'll think of it as "three minutes long". It works much better. Besides, the length is no real issue.
To sum up all I've said, your arrangment, performance, and ability are unequaled except maybe by Beethoven himself. And since he is dead, that puts you in first place. You are the greatest piano-man alive, and I admire you so much for what you have done. kLuTz, you are my hero.
With undying passion for music, art, and anything from kLuTz, esp. this,

Okay. First off if you want to flame me do it in email.
This song, is mediocre. If this was Klutz's only piano arrangement on here then I would rave and beat people into downloading it.
But, this is the fourth. And really, the structure doesn't change much, his left hand lines are still just about the same as his other songs. (The waltz bit is a nice saving grace, props for that bit) And the performance is fantastic as usual. But the arrangement...it just doesn't feel like he brought anything new to the table. Seems like a one trick pony to me. Sound quality is good as usual...
My major gripe with this is just that...it...doesn't seem that klutz is really progressing much in terms of style. But this is still a good song. Download if you enjoy relatively simple piano pieces.
One Word ReView - Disappointing.

Feh.
How you look at this song depends on how you look at kLuTz. I personally enjoy his work IN that its not overly complicated, and all his pieces so far have appealed to me a good deal.
So, when I saw a 600 AD one by him, I leapt in joy. And I was given just what I expected: a piano piece, plain and simple. I wasn't looking for growth, just kLuTz's adaptation of 600 AD in the style I knew and loved so well. And no doubt, this is the best 600 AD remix ON the site. I wasn't really looking for variety, per se, I was looking for kLuTz.
If you like 600 AD, download this. If you like kLuTz's other pieces, download this.
And on a personal note, it's hard to do a review of this while listening to the Hogan's Heroes theme.

This is a bit better than standard-fare kLutZ. It sounds great, and it's a step above basic arrangement. Nonetheless, it's not *incredible*, like Trial in Concert, due to the arrangement. As I said, he DOES do some things in the latter half that sound pretty cool, but on the whole, it's not all that special. I would say 7/10.

I loved this remix of Chrono Trigger. I have been a fan of kLutZ since accidentally stumbling across his website while searching for mp3s of Chrono Cross. (He has two, by the way, which are excellent remixes of Another World theme and People Imprisoned by Destiny), and had no idea until now that he was on OCRemix... I'm gonna go get the other songs now! (and send in the non-piano remixes too klutz!)
This song was awesome. kLutZ is an awesome remixer.

10/10 hands down. great remix.
Originally caught this over @ VGMix's WIP forum. Wonderful arrangement but the lack of oomph or another layer doesn't do much for me. Nevertheless, it's really good stuff, really good chill music.

Thanks for taking the time to listen and comment! =)
Glad you guys enjoyed it (for those of you who did).
Yeah, it is true that this song is pretty old..improved since then..I don't know? About the sheet music some of you may be wondering about, I've never made any sheet music out of any of my songs before, but there is someone who has transcribed this piece for me, and it's in overture file format. Should I leave it in that format? Not sure of any other way to release it, anyways, I'll post it up at my site after I go back home from school and proofread it.
I certainly don't think I'm an awesome pianist or anything, heh..I usually just try to create or arrange easy listening music. You guys do have an interesting point of the music growing a bit repetitive, hehe. While it is true that these pieces may be improvised, I'm trying to change my style of playing these days too, we'll see how that goes, I guess, heh..
Well, thanks again guys!

Thanks to all your comments again! For those of you looking for sheet music, someone has transcribed this song for me. As of now, it is available in Overture (*.ove) format. Also, pertaining to the left and right hand positions, it may not be exactly how I played it, but play the piece
how it would most be comfortable to you =).

I know I bashed "Town Life in Piano" for butchering "Peaceful Days", but this is where I make up for it. I'm highly critical of piano arrangements, and I have to say that this one goes across well with me. Now, it doesn't "rock my socks" or anything, but it's well done. It keeps a good feel of the original AND adds that level of quality arrangement that I look for in piano renditions. So, I admit this was pretty good. Keep it up. If your next mix is even better then this, I will be looking forward to it.

I absolutely love this Mix. I never really cared too much for the original song, but this rendition is just beautiful in a really simple way.
I love how the tempo changes at 1:45 and you just kind of toy around with the notes, not changing too much, yet just enough to make a marked improvement.
Overall a great piano piece.

Judging from the clearness of the piece, I can only say that this is being performed by a professional pianist with an equally fine piano. The difficulty of the piece is great and Klutz handles it well. Well thought of, clean and simple. Matrix'D! (gr10 pianist here)

this is the first song on the site I really really liked. It alone was probably worth my computer being on for three days downloading those Bit Torrent files in early june.
It is a really great mix, I can't really think of a a way that series of notes could be any better. Simple piano solo is perfect.
On a scale of 1 to 10, 7 being the highest, I'd give it a... a 6.5. It does get a little boring if you are thirsty, strangely enough. If I were in a cool swimming pool, or lake, it would be a perfect 7. But I can't type a review in the water.
edit: I would also like to say I don't think that kLuTz's other work is that great. Then again, I don't like the original songs that much for the others. But, come to think of it, I did not really appreciate the song from 600 AD very much. But the piano mix is great.

This song is an amazing piano rendition of a tune any avid gamer should know. In fact, I even went and learned two verses from this song on the piano! now all my friends are impressed
reminds me of something in the Sims soundtrack. classic.
Klutz is the master of the solo piano. There may not be much in terms of innovation from him, but what he does, he does extremely well.
Next to DJP's "Love Hurts" Sonic remix, this is my favorite remix on this site.

kLuTz... I must say, you are a master of the piano, whether with a technoish backup, or simply by itself... it is amazing the things you pull off... keep up the good work, and make some more, dammit!
I particularly like the innovated variations you put in the parts at 2'27" and 2'41"... That's a Mozart-type technique, correct?
Anyways, keep up the good work *attempts to force all of his divine inspiration (not much) into kLuTz*

This is a stunning piano arrangement which beautifully retains and adds to the emotion of the original piece. One of the best piano arrangements of video game songs I've heard including the Final Fantasy Piano Collections. Um, can I get the sheet music anywhere?

I personally felt this piece lacked the feeling and conviction of Town Life in Piano. But otherwise, a fine piano solo piece.

stuck pretty close to the original. Which is exactly what I expect from a remix of a song like this. This has always been one of my fav. CT STs :) Great remix!

I believe he has the full thing on his own site: http://klutz.vgmidi.com/portal.php .I'm definately going to practice this masterpiece sometime.
Great piano piece by kLuTz as usually. The only downside is that it sounds like most of his other ones, but it is still very good.

Though I said a lot of bad things (http://www.ocremix.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=1607595#1607595) about his 'A World in Piano' (http://www.ocremix.org/detailmix.php?mixid=OCR00811) mix, all of that still stands, but I'd like to say some different things about this mix.
This is probably my favorite of kLuTz's work, and there's something about the 600 A.D. theme that just clicks with his style. Though it includes a lot of what I didn't like in 'A World in Piano', like I said, his methods just seemed to go better with this track. Where the generic styles of his other songs seem to lead them to failure in my eyes, there's something about this that just.. works. It's probably the first of his mixes that I feel go beyond the source material, and maybe even the first to really be emotional. Though it doesn't do much to go progress from the original song, everything added in that used to just be put in there for further arrangement seems to emanate a better vibe for the song, whereas all that improv just led the other mixes to become too generic.
Though it is a great mix, kLuTz has yet to really take his talent a step further. He uses the same styles in every mix that he has on this site, and though it worked for this one, I'd like to see some new ground covered by this talented pianist.

First post, but I've played Chrono Trigger avidly since it's release....I just find the fluidness of the music in parallel to the emotion as perfect...But as far as this piano piece is concerned, it offered what it said and way much more. I could tell he was totally feeling this as he played it, it's so innocent but resonant.

Thanks guys! Feel free to check out http://klutz.vgmidi.com/music.php for more recent stuff! I'm not sure exactly how much I've progressed since this piece, maybe a little..

Yeah, this is one of my favorite piano mixes. I loved how it stuck fairly closely to the original, while still making expansions on it. Kudos, kLuTz.

I'd like to say that I think kLuTz is the reason that solo piano does so well on this site as a whole, but in the innovation field, all his pieces are exactly the same. The only thing this one does that is different is the scherzo part that shows up early in the piece. Enjoyable to hear (very clear sample and production), but predictable if you've listened to any other kLuTz pieces.

I always loved this song. Now, you have created an amazing rendition of it. I think that makes me love you now. I wish I was a woman just so that I could have your children, and you could teach them how to play piano.

This song was done very well. You stuck with the original and added some extra depth to it. Good Job.

When it comes to piano remixes, you
always admire the work of a kLuTz.
The piano flows through the whole song,
and increases in speed when it needs to.
Beautiful!

A good piano solo does the soul good. When I hear piano done right, it makes my skin crawl, in a very good way. I am a huge fan of piano mixes, and therefore collect many of them, but this one ranks very high on my list. Indeed, very beautiful.

Dear Klutz:
Your piano skills are inhuman. I have all of your mixes from this site, as well as many from your personal site. They are all amazing, and a testament to your mad skills.
Rock on, brother.

Ooh...this is one piece that gives me the chills every time I listen to it. kLuTz is another one of my big favorite piano arrangers here on this site.

There are people who make Chrono Trigger sound boring, archaic and stale. And then there are people who make Chrono Trigger sound interesting, surprising and downright fine. A piano mix that doesn't disappear up its own behind is how I would describe '600 A.D. in Piano'. While there is a time and a place for insane piano hammering and avante-garde improvisation, I really appreciate the simplicity and attention to serving the source directly that kLuTz submitted here.
I personally prefer this over 'Town Life in Piano', mainly due to my personal preference of source melody, but needless to say I have a fondness for piano pieces that remake, redefine and recollect gaming memories without letting off creative fireworks to obstruct it all. There is a time and a place for all walks of music; simple, faithful piano pieces deserve their time in the spotlight once in a while. This mix is one of the best to start with.

Maybe it's just because my musical taste is crap, but I was hoping to hear something over than the 'kLuTz Formula'. Very nice, soft, simple piano at the beginning that progresses to more complicated very quickly. Obviously not a lot of people are going to be fans of this, but it might be interesting to hear a mix from you that ditches this formula. As it is, I usually just listen to your otherwise amazing songs for the first 30 seconds or however long it takes to ditch the calmer parts.
And, I haven't heard your other songs so what I just said might be worth my musical taste: crap.
Perfectly named remix title. No false advertising here. :-)
Beautiful work, and a very accessible arrangement.
