A non-update update:

We have final cuts for about 2/3 of the project.
We haven't started on the album art or website; we'll probably save those for the very end.
Things have slowed down a bit on my end, largely due to my being extremely busy with gym-related stuff (mostly training in preparation to try to qualify for the national gymnastics championships), however progress has certainly not stopped, and we're still working to get this done.

You know guys, i happenned to listen to your demo of donkey kong 2 and found one of the songs to sound really familiar.I went through my playlist of music and found that I actually already own that song by tepid that was in the demo. I dont know where i found it first, or what site i got it from, it was a while ago. Anyway the name of it is crystal swamp and is 4:22 long on my playlist. I didnt see the name of the remix song on your remix list but isint that the same song thats on your project. The name of the artist on my playlist sais its tepid. Have you guys released some of the songs on your project early on alternative sites purposelly?

Yep theres no mistaking it. The part of the preview that comes in at the 1:55 and ends at the 2:30 mark. The actuall song is 4:22 long on my computer. The part that plays in the preview is near the end of the completed song at around the 2:50 mark. The,what sounds like, an electric guitar is played only from 2:58 to 3:43 so the electric guitar is really a treat for near the end of the actuall song. A, i guess its, a string guitar is played throughout the piece starting at around 0:44 and etc. Its a really nice song in my opinion. Its called crystal swamp, but i didint see the name of the remix posted here on the remix list. Are you saying I might be the only non project-er with this song at this point?

This is pretty tight. I'm not sure if I liked the section in the middle with all the tempo shifting though, but the rest of it was pretty sweet. The first half left me wanting way more acoustic guitar though. Great ending.

Yeah I agree with emunattor. As i said, I've had this song in my playlist long before this project even got started. I figured I couldnt be the only one, as it sounded very familiar. Its a pretty piece of music. I too loved the guitar work. Anywho just curios. Good luck with the project and stuf.

The project started back in October or November of' 07. I seem to remember there being unfinished WIPs up until April '08 or so, maybe longer.

Things have also been a bit slow on my end because for the past 3 months I've dealt with a REALLY shitty personal situation, but now I'm ready to get on people's cases again and keep this project moving.

The only thing I promise as regards to the project release date is that it will come out this year. The FF4 project will come out first, and as to when that will come out, I am going to keep my lips shut on that one.

There are some special things that might happen for this project though that I absolutely will not spoil until close to release.

So I bought DKC 2 on the VC a week or two ago, and am up to the Lava place. I had forgotten how veiled some of the secrets were in the game, but so far up to the point I'm at, I have a perfect for bonuses & DK coins. One thing I've noticed though is that the game doesn't look terribly great on HDTVs :sad: . Such a shame, since I have a 50" 1080p DLP.

Haha, I actually just made some money off of DKC2 the other day. I bet my brother that I could beat the game 102% in one day, without getting any game overs, and beating my previous personal best time (5 hours and 3 minutes.) I ended up beating it in 4:30 :D

'course, it was only 5 bucks and I got paid in spare change, but still... money for playing videogames is always good!


There were some levels that just sucked in terms of repeatedly dying... I can't remember any aside from the obvious Animal Antics, but it did remind me just how hard this game could be at times!

I plan on rerunning the game again right before this album releases, too. I'd like to get some other people from this site to do the same thing and we'll compete for bragging rights :P

I think it would be polite to give the projects, and remixes in them, some respect; because they've been working for some time to create these quality albums that varioius people would be looking more foward to than this project. After all, everyone's tastes differs.

Fishy's track really reeled me back in just when I thought it was winding down... twice! Man, those strings caught me off guard. The piano coming in at the end was a great touch. And thankfully, it doesn't get too over-indulgent during the guitar solos :P Very solid progressive rock tribute. I loved it.

Audix also did an amazing job with his track! The pacing and energy is spot-on... "really fantastic" is all I can muster.

Also... the minute and a half portion... is that part of Audix's song, or is that part of another song? I ask only because the melody doesn't jog my memory.

Yes, that minute and a half section is still my track. If you listen closely to that section, the background synths and bass are playing the original lines. The string melody in the original is really just straight staccato hits, so I embellished it a bit. :)

It was long as in time to make it. I started production on the song in late 2007, but the initial demo was soon scrapped, except for a few ideas. The final arrangement is about four and a half minutes long.

Looks like we've run into a complication with my track, and I'll have to redo a bunch of it.

Shouldn't take me too long when I get down to it, though.

Sat down to do the final mixing on my track and ran into some issues. First, the mix and my audio software is stored on two hard drives from my desktop computer in California, I brought them out to Indiana and threw them into Ash's desktop and everything worked fine until I actually tried to do some mixing. The audio stuttered so bad that I couldn't do anything.

Seeing as how the actual music has all been finished, I exported a high quality wav of that and will throw in onto my laptop when I get home tomorrow or friday, mix the vocals on that, and voila, it will be done.

Meh, we're content with how the project ended up - not everything they've heard is the final version though, as some people changed their songs greatly, and there's some that haven't been previewed at all.


And I spoke to Neko when I first heard the track posted at DoD...I guess I shouldn't be too surprised someone decided to leak their track for Rareware Month, but yeah, advance notice would be great...thankfully there's still big surprises yet to be heard by everyone.

This is a trend I've noticed with a lot of diehard fans of a certain series - anything that deviates too much from the original source melody or genre is not usually well-received. I saw this happen a lot with Project Chaos, too. It's unfortunate, but in the end it's their own taste so there's not much point worrying about it :\
