Hi Everybody,
I'm a long time observer on this site, and today I wanna share one of my works with you.
This is a stop-motion movie with legos. I received some funds to create it, this movie's a pilot for what could be an upcoming mini-series on the net.
Why I am coming on a game music forum to post the movie link? Because the score composer and myself are both nostalgic of the 8bits video games era, and you'll notice the use of NES sample instruments in the soundtrack. Those oldschool samples sounded right in this movie. Even the ending chase sequence is scored like an oldschool "boss battle".
Check it here :

The movie's in french, but don't worry, I added english subtitles ! ;)

That was really well done. All the tiny details like him spinning his hands when he was nervous were great.
I would watch a series of this if you made more :D.

Wow....
That was amazing! The animation was just beautiful. Add that with the great voice acting it had and you have yourself a perfect animation here.
Really looking forward to the series. Please do keep us posted!

That was amazing. I loved the humor, I loved the voices. Everything was perfect. I had to make a youtube account and subscribe. By the way just how long did it take to do make it?

Yeah I agree with everyone here, that was pretty awesome!
with alot of sub-par stop-motion movies using legos, I was expecting something of poor to mediocre quality when I saw the legos but was I proven wrong!!! Holy Crap! :)
Great animation, great voice work, and awesome humor. I'll be looking for more great stuff from you in the future!

Nice work. I would be pleased if you made this in to a semi-regular series..
Loved the voice overs.
I can see this becoming one of those internet phenomenons.

Thanks for the support guys !
Anthonium, this movie took more than 4 months to create (not talking about the script writing or the animation learning)... It was not an "all-day-long" work since I had other projets, but I'd say it was 3 to 4 hours of work every day from November to March.
I'm sorry, I was not able to translate Henri's last quote (the one that makes Clara laugh). It's a pretty dumb joke, something you'd never say to a girl you've just met. :)
Any other question ? :P
If I am able to find a producer, I'll do more episodes...
Thanks again !

Yeah, very good work. Camera & lights I too thought were excellent, and everything seemed very professional. I could imagine seeing this on TV. I subscribed, too.

I can't even wrap my mind around shooting it too... it must be really intricate. Things like the spinning axe sinking into the wall must take a lot of precision and planning.
At the risk of repeating sentiments above: excellent work.

That was awesome. Everything flowed really well to the point where really difficult things to pull off like the axe swinging through the air didn't seem unnatural to me.

Nice work! All the little details like the sound effects and lighting were really indicative of the level of care that went into the project. The voice acting, too, was exceptional.
Hope to see more from you in the future.

How exactly do you achieve things like the axe spinning in the air or an item falling in stop motion anyway? I'm completely clueless in this area.

Amazing. "The cat ends up as a slavic stew". Great humor and storyline.

About the spinning axe : I really launched it and followed it with my camera.
lol
In fact, I was holding the axe myself in the right direction for each position, fingers off screen. I added motion blur in post-production... That was pretty easy to do.
In fact, "noticeable shots" were mostly done quickly and easily, while some "regular shots" were sometimes horribly long to create.

tobmaps, "Clara Sterling" is of course a reference to Thomas harris' Hannibal. I was surprised nobody noticed it before !
Die hard fans will also notice some references to Ridley Scott's movie Hannibal, especially the "Henri's face/off" shot. I'd say Clara has a superficial resemblance to Julianne Moore, but this is only my opinion. :P
Vladimir's line "Me would like you be main course" was written on Lecter's "I'm giving very serious thoughts to eating your wife".

ah, I never did get the chance to watch Hannibal. :) Clara just really reminded me of the Clarice from the old Silence of the Lambs movie, particularly in this Wikipedia image of Jodie (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clarice_Starling).
Glad to know I wasn't imagining things, though!
You do realize that Silence of the Lambs is one of the Hannibal novels/movies right? Anyways, great film, I love how it's so fluid that it doesn't seem like legos, it seems life like (movement wise and considering they are legos of course.)
EDIT: I reread what both of you had said about Hannibal so just ignore me, I didn't even pay attention to the fact that you were both naming specific actresses.

Very good filming and detail. I loved the cars moving in back/foreground, and the legos walking (and turning around at 2:33 ), the lego gun SFX, not to mention a funny storyline.
Nice work!

That was amazing. How long did it take you over all to make it? I did a series of short scenes once out of Homer's "The Odyssey" using Legos in stop-motion and it wasn't nearly that nice. Hope to see more from you.

Nice! That was great, that looked way smoother than a lot of CGI I've seen, you can go somewhere with this, nice quirky plot too, I loved the little lines thrown in there ("Does the FBI often leave bodies like that?") How long did this take you?

It took me about 4 months to get everything right.
I am really glad to see that many people appreciate this short. I'm planning to do a "sequel" (not really a sequel, but a new adventure for Henri & Edmond), which will be bigger, but I really need money and time to do such a thing !
And of course, as I'm a great fan of ocremix.org, I will probably come back here to ask OCremixers to write some songs or remixes for the next episode ! :D
:nicework: nice work/many lulz
