Ha! I DLed this song off of MP3.com months ago (along with every other piece of music by Symphonic Chronicles I could find). I loved it then and love it now. I highly recommend people go to MP3.com and find the numerous pieces by this artist and enjoy them as well.

I think it's a great mix. It doesn't ever get repetitive to me.

Not usually a big trance fan, but I really enjoyed this mixed. It wasn't real repetitive like alot of trance music tends to be.

I've had this great, varied piece on loop for the last two hours. And still, it's both a superb background piece that's easy on the ears, and a great entry into OCRemix. Good job.
EDIT: I'm up to 5 hours of constant loopage now, and finally sick of it. Good stuff!

I think you've just missed the point of trance music.

Couldn't say it's super, but for being trance i believe it's ok.

i lioke the mix over all but i'd have to say the intro is way too long - over a min of nothing - that part of the mix is anying and too repetitive to get me to listen to the mix without having to skip the first minute too actually get somewhere to recognize the theme or even get any music playing at all.
well other than the long intro i'd say it's a solid mix. 8)

gay remix
Well, if this is a gay remix, then I'm glad to be homosexual, because this is great. I will agree that the first minute or so seems pretty dull, but once the actual remix kicked in, I couldn't stop listening to it. I don't know if I'd necessarily classify it as trance, though...but it is really damn good. A bit long, maybe, and that boring first minute ruin it a little bit.
But it appeals to my tastes. Gay remix, indeed. Pfft. :P

I agree the intro is way too long. It really is a minute of nothing.

"This is the way to do trance"
Quite! My only complaint would be for more! Another go around 5:00-ish, get /really/ heavy on the beat? C'mon! :D
I did have to do a bit of EQ foolin' to get the low end to a satisfactory level though.
If this is gay, consider me homosexual as well. 8)

I see what he's saying though. :-P Too much techno/trance tends to be.. boring? Dull? Cliche? Uninteresting? This doesn't fall into those traps. Very nice!

I downloaded this some time ago in the WiP forum, and now it's a mix...
I'll download this version tomorrow, and post my comment of it then.
btw, the version I have is GREAT...it's one of my favorite tracks. Can't wait to try this. :)

The one in the WIP version was the same as this one, as I recall. =\ Well I didn't notice anythang diffrnt.

As I recall, not much has been changed. However, I too remember this mix being in the WIP forum (his first Video game mix, if I remembered correctly,) and I absolutely loved it, mainly because it's not filled with super-happy-fun candy-raving synths that blow your eardrums, or singing at such a key it makes glass shatters on the first pizicatto note.
I say, congrats, and hopefully I'll hear more from you soon!

This is pretty nice. though can you beleive that we sit through the same loop for over a minute! The opening had me half expecting the tune "popcorn" to come in! Hmmm...that would be an interesting amalgam: Flash man and popcorn...

I agree - the intro takes too long to build. I can see where you're coming from, but a little more variety earlier on (i.e. building chords in synth strings/pad) may have lent it strength.
Beyond that, this is excellent trance. It's mellow, and I like the use of piano in electronica. It isn't as powerful as it could have been, but this certainly isn't a bad thing. The piece's only real fault is repitition.

ok, ok, constructive criticism...
as others have pointed out, the intro is too repetitve and gets boring since it's so long... should have been maybe 30 seconds or less rather than a full minute
the song was too quiet, too unsensational... usually just a mellow tune with minor hints at a Flash Man theme in the background... the remixer needed to bring the theme into the front...
it felt like most of the song was building up the real part (much like how in the original flash man theme it builds up in the beginning) however this real part never came... the only times when the theme were really shown, it was just too dull and didn't have the beat or sounds to make it stand out
basically, it was like a 6-minute intro that never was
OK there's your constructive criticism, I didn't even make one reference to homosexuality
btw this is the 6th or so Flashman peice, with all the others being vastly better, so if you want a Flashman remix I suggest you check the others out, especially Flashfire and Wily Haunts Flashman

Long time listener, first time poster.
People's criticisms that this piece "does nothing" at the outset would be a lot more valid if the trance genre, by definition, didn't always take its sweet time to get things hopping.
You could consider SC's remix an attempt at staying true to trance's form and function :D
Just an observation. Quality work, SC, good luck on your sophomore submission.

Hey thanks everybody for your comments. It wasn't my intention to offend any of you with my remix. Honestly I didn't think this would even be posted. It was just a sequence made on my keyboard. Anyway, thanks again for all your thoughts.

Actually, I think the intro is just fine.
The overall track is great, but unfortunately it's so great that I can't pay attention to it...it sort of purges you of any care in the world.
I've had this track for several months, and still like it. 92.5%.

This is one of the better remixes I've heard in a long time. I downloaded it a couple days ago and have listened to it probably 10 - 20 times.
I'm not sure why people say the intro is too long, I like it like that. It slowly works itself into the song and almost makes you forget that it's playing. Then before you know it, it jumps seamlessly into the heart of the song. Excellently done.
On another note, right around 3:35 is my favorite part of the song. It's that deep atmospheric music that moves you.
I love it.

I think he did all this on purpose. When I got to the point when the flash theme came in... I said "it's about time" hey.. wait... NICE TITLE.. I like this remix, it's how to do things, still groovin to it

A lot of people are complaining about the intro. Am I the only one who thinks that's the best part of the song? That and the change up from 3:35 to 4:44. Beautiful!
I thought the intro was too long, but overall a very good song. It's perfect to play while running Unreal Tournament.

Hi.
The first time I listen to the remix I didn't like it, but after hearing it twice it was nice. The fifth time listening made it one of my favorites.
When I was playing the game Megaman 2 I didn't like the Flash theme very much. When Gecko Yamori made a mix (Flash C64) I like it more, but now, it's one of my favorite themes. Too bad this song is going to be overmixed
The intro is long, but very good. It's walking to the theme very slow, but on a nice way.
Finally the theme. YES, this is very nice. Nice sound effects, it's being PERFECT. First you used 'page 1' of the song, very used well.
Than the other 'page'. You used the correct sound effects. This things goes on a couple of minutes.
Then 'page 2' again, nice way to come back to this theme.
Oh no, the song is ending, the end is good as well.
Overal:
GOOD remix, long intro but good. Good remixing and a good end. 9.5 (95%)

I've never heard the original tune this is for, I confess, I've never played Mega Man...but this tune sounds a lot like Chicago - I'm a Man
Like many others have already said: the intro is way too long and boring. It almost made me skip this song, however, when it finally changed, it was well worth it.
This is a very great trance remix; very mellow and smooth. Definitely recommended if you like trance.

This is my favorite Flash remix, without a doubt. The long intro is okay, it may be boring for them without headphones, since you actually can hear something build up itself in the quiet back of this mix.
I don´t really know what the title stands for, is it It´s about time someone made a great Flashremix, because we have those in multiplies y´know. But for the whole arrangement, very nice done. I actually like that synth doing its own thing in the beginning, which later gets company consisted by a two awesome synths. I mean it, those trance synths are incredible, they´re both echoing and fading away continiously, I like that.
But it take some time for this remix to show its real self, 2:32 to be exact. I´m just gonna cut to the case. The piano was beautiful, and the walkover to a more calm and drummier part was magnificent!
There, I´m done, where´s the rest of your hits?

It's been a while since I checked this thread out. Thanks for the great comments everyone.
As far as the name of the song is concerned, It's About Time is named because Flashman's weapon is the time stopper. Everyone recognizes the long intro so of course it's about time when it actually leads into the main theme. I wanted to construct the song so that whenever I finish another megaman 2 mix it'll lead into the flashman mix smoothly.
Anyway, i simply wanted to test out my synth's capabilties when i first got it and this remix is what came about.
I've never heard the original tune this is for, I confess, I've never played Mega Man...but this tune sounds a lot like Chicago - I'm a Man

Excellent management throughout this six minute ambient yet fast paced track. All of these great MegaMan remixes have actually make me whip out the snes/nes and play. *drool*

Thanks Subz and Adun for your words. They are very much appreciated
I picture Quick Man's stage instead of Flash Man's whenever I listen to this because of how persistently reverb-laden the soundscape is. The volume lapses hint at instant-death beams and the need for heightened agility in those red/orange/blue corridors.
Maybe it's just me, but I have a habit of counting the quarter-note beats of the starting bass while the fluctuating synths roll in. Makes me feel like I'm riding a horse or something. I also like how the first four quips of Flash Man's theme use one lead synth, then another that echoes/fades into obscurity (which, like so much else in this mix, fuels the long-corridor imagery). 3:47 - 4:42 offers some pleasing note-timing variations when bridging the 2nd and 3rd measures. And all the while, it takes care never to alter the mood too jarringly.
Overall, this is beaterrific and enticing. As djp says more than once in his writeup, this goes places, man.

I enjoyed (enjoy? since I still do?) this remix. It's a little slow at first, but... it's like a sort of climax (here I go with the sexual innuendo), when you finally get somewhere and things happen.
A longish build, that has a pretty good payoff, i've been working on the flashman theme on my own a little bit recently, so I'm definitely familiar. The twinkly piano added to synths and a standard beat certainly isn't anything new, but it's balanced sounding, and nothing seems out of place.
Combined with a solid source, and you've got a recipe for a pretty nice mix. :-)

Bonus points! Quick story 'bout this ReMix - the very first night I ever lived away from my parents (like, not in the same city or anywhere close), I was doin' the ambient music whilst trying to repair some frayed nerves (mine). And this song was there. I remember this and Boards of Canada's 1969. I remember 3-4 teapots worth of tea, and I remember beating Mega Man 2 - twice. So, that was an awesome night, made all the more awesome by this song. Thanks, SymphoChro! Good memories.
In a technical sense, this is a really solid mix. I'm not getting a totally ambient feel (which is fine), but there's definitely a solid build. The intro may be a titch long, but I know why it's there. Now get to work on that mix which is supposed to lead into this one!
