I'm going to cheap out on you shariq and just paste what I said at vgm. ^_^
Very emotional from the beginning. Thanks to the harp playing.
Enter the beautiful choir and string passages. Nice brass, sounds like it's muted. It works perfectly with this mix by delivering a powerful yet serene sense of grandness. At around the early 2 minute mark I would have liked the harp louder.
The latter half of the mix is mostly, the theme which everyone recognizes. I love the drumwork and choice of drum and percussion. Excellent usage and choice.
Great ending also. I think the reverb here is just a little too much. I know you like reverb, as do I. ^_^ But I think slightly less would have worked better since I don't view this orchestral set up as a huge one.
All in all, amazing work shariq. It has a very grand, yet intimate and serene style that's highlighted by emotionally charged harp sequencing. Excellent orchestral display in terms of understanding and instruments used. Great work!

Ohhh, this is different and longer than the last WIP version I heard. And I thought that version was perfect enough, heh. This is beautiful!

excellence. sheer excellence.
from the beginning it was excellent, with the harp, and the progression to the classical zelda theme was really pleasing to hear. this is just great, i'm glad you chose orchestral as well, good use of choral elements, everything seemed appropriate about it and nothnig out of place, you did it justice. even when it picks up (which is where some fall apart) it upheld. this is easily one of the nicest remixes on the site in my opinion.

I just started playing this game yesterday actually. GREAT WORK MAN. this is sheer perfection, so much better quality than the actual in game music. I love the buildups and the samples are subtle and superb. Really diggin this mix, highly recommended 90/100 etc

There are too many things I love about this mix. The original songs ("The Legendary Hero" and "Sage Laruto") were starving for mixage, and you delivered. I can't contribute much else that others haven't already stated, but I'll add that you do orchestral arrangements like no one else. I am humbled every time I start up one of your tunes. Keep it up.
Are you planning to do any more Wind Waker tunes? I'd love to see what you do with pieces like "Wind Temple", "Illusionary Room", or "Arryl's Theme" (tracks 35, 46, and 59 on disc 2 of the soundtrack).

A Wind Waker remix, cool. I just bought this soundtrack off of Ebay the other day, still waiting for it in the mail. Anyway, on to the song itself...
I thought about writing the standard critque for this by saying what I thought about each seperate part of it, but I decided against it. Suffice to say the word "beautiful" would have been included numerous times. To me both themes remixed are instantly recognizable (and I don't even own the game) and you worked them in together very well. Highly Recommended.

Wow. I must say, I love this remix. Starting with the clear plucked harp, and then entering strings and a seemingly muted brass, not to mention the choir sample and the snare drum that comes in...it all has a sort of quietly epic feel to it that seems to suit the songs perfectly. I loved the Sage Raruto theme, and to hear it remixed so beautifully is a real treat. Great mix, I listened to it on repeat for at least an hour, if not more.

Man. Thank you so much for this remix. I just returned home from a three day vacation to find that my house had been broken into and my gamecube had been stolen. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
It was very sad. Luckily my computer was still here (or I think I woulda committed suicide) and I decided to check out what was new on this site. H00rAy! A remix from Wind Waker. It cheered me up a great deal. Also it reminded me that when my gamecube was stolen they did not get my windwaker game because I loaned it to a friend who still hasn't given it back. Whew. So anyway, I'm gonna hafta get me a new gamecube now. I'm hoping to get one soon before that 4 game Zelda disc deal is gone. So once again. thank you for this song!

Lemme just say WOW! I love how the "zelda theme" is minored here! I've never heard done that way before. The tambourine work fits beautifully here. Very ...medieval sounding. I like the harp in the beginnig and revisited in the end. And the modulation in the background is very choral. What a way to open up Wind Waker! This would've been an excellent piece for the game!

This is an amazing remix, very stirring and quite the moving piece. If this had been done for the start of Wind Waker instead of what it was normally, I would have enjoyed starting the game a lot more. Great work, this is what a Zelda track should be, moving, powerful and stirring. Excellent work.

Darkesword needs a lollipop. First Party in the Snowland, and now THIS!!! WOOHOO! For being only the second person in the history of OCR to remix a Gamecube game, (The first was DJ Carbunk1e with 'That Balcony Thing' From Luigi's Mansion) This is some awesome stuff. An absolutely epic piece that I think surpasses the original in every way. Excellent stuff. Now if you could only remix Dragon's Roost Island... Anyhoo, Good job, Darkesword!

For a good remix of Dragon Roost Isle, search around for Pirates of Dragon Roost Isle by Unknown. Its either on the WIP board or at VGMix somewhere.
Thanks everyone for the feedback on my mix. I also posted this to VGMix earlier this week, and as of this post, it's recieved over a thousand downloads. ^_^ Yay Zelda, I suppose.
I really fell in love with the melody when I heard Laruto play it on her harp; such a beautiful theme. I actually started a techno mix of it, but I put that away for a while upon getting the WW OST. I listened to Laruto's theme and tried to emulate it using my harp and choir samples. This is the first time I've nailed the strums in a harp.
After that, I just sort of developed it from there, adding strings and stuff, as well as the main theme.
Thanks to everyone for giving this song a listen; I think that its an excellent homage to Koji Kondo, who's really, in my opinion, the father of VG music, and a big influence on me. Sure, Nobuo and Mitsuda are geniuses, but Kondo started it all off with his SMB soundtrack, and I don't think he gets the credit he deserves in an endless sea of RPG OST's. The man writes like no one's business.
As for the aforementioned techno piece, here it is, made a bit more generic for your listening pleasure. Personally, I prefer this to Ancient Hero. ;)

I've heard the Zelda theme so many times already. While there's been some brilliant interpretations, particularly some of the jazz pieces, I didn't think I could particularly enjoy another orchestral mix of the main theme. This, however, exceeded all possible expectations.
This is an absolutely awesome mix. The best new orchestral mix on this site in awhile I think, and one of the best mixes period to be posted on the site recently. And there have been some good ones. I must tip my hat to you sir.

Hey that techno mix was pretty fun to but not as good as the beautiful orchestral remix.
If this were to be in an actual Zelda game I'd buy it even if the main character was Tingle!!
(ok maybe im overreacting on that one  , but hey, just tryin' to express my feelings for the song :D )

Excellent. One of the few mixes I can listen to on repeat, especially while working on backstory for my D&D campaign.
Still, I think it coulda used more of the Zelda theme, instead of repeating the "Legendary Hero" theme over and over, but otherwise its a near-perfect piece. Two thumbs up. :D

This remix rocks. When I listened to it, I could see myself playing the game. Even though I am a big LOZelda fan, I will judge this using my opinions of remix music. I liked the mix of quiet and loud. Playing musical instuments seems to be a big part of the Zelda games now, and the song makes good use of the instumental music. Great remix.

Oh, man...this piece is really good. I usually don't care for orchestra pieces, but the uses of the different sounds and melody just really got to me. I like this song so much. It's classic, and if you told me it was from the game itself, i probably would've smiled and said "Hell, why not?" Man, this is definetly going to be one of my favorites. I'm downloading this one, that's for sure! :o

No video game theme has ever stuck with me harder than The Legend of Zelda. This piece is absolutely incredible. It moves me like no other Zelda theme remix I've ever heard. A masterpiece deserving of high praise.
Like Brinnswf said, I only hope there is more to come for Wind Waker.

I loved it! It is truly magnificiant! I listen to it every day! I find it great for playing FF X. The harp goes so smothly into all of the other instraments...sipmly a piece of musical genius. I love it! Truly a piece of art! The begenning is so soothing, it makes me tired, then the middle it wakes me up. Then, the end makes me sleepy again. It is simply and utterly ideal!

I absolutely love the intro to this piece... It sounds like the start of some epic tale... heh. Very dreamy, flowing sound to start off with. I love the horns used, as well - very filling sound. Great stuff - captured the perfect feel for this genre. Definitely did the original justice - an overall fitting initial submission for a great game!

When I heard this on the OCR radio, it really stood out from all the other tracks. This is like movie soundtrack quality, and it really captures the essence of the epic tale that is The Legend of Zelda.
This is just beyond praise. I'll be spreading the word to any and every person I know who has (and even doesn't have) an appreciation for the potential of game music. I think this will turn heads and change minds.
Thank you so much for this emotionally powerful remix!

DarkeSword...you're a genius, man. I don't know where you got all that from, but it's beautiful. A little ditty at the beginning of Wind Waker was taken, crafted, and then perfected all in one fell swoop. You've literally made something out of nothing, and it's a beautiful something. I especially like the harp for the touching beginning and then the triumphant horns come i playing everyone's favorite Zelda theme. Just brilliant. The one thing I'd even come remotely close to getting negative about is at about 3:55 the song resorts back to the harp. This is cool and gives it a sort of faded out ending, but I think it could have been uber-triumphant and ended at 3:54. But hey, the mellow ending is cool too. Yet another kick-ass Zelda remix for the fans. Good jeorb!
Darkesword this is the greatest Zelda song I have ever heard reMixed, amazing to no extent the beginning is very peaceful, and the rest is on a grand epic scale I have never seen before
amazing is the word that comes to mind

Really, this piece left me staring into an abyss between dimensions...I saw all sorts of different feelings and emotions come out of this piece...there is both sadness, peace, and an inspiring aspect that allows one to keep faith strong...Indeed, this was a great outlook on the Zelda music, as this piece describes the more serious side of Zelda, as well as its true legend...

If there ever was some kind of epic Zelda movie made, this would definitely have to be in it. Every time I hear it, I think of a quiet, peaceful Hyrule until you get to 0:48, when it suddenly seems to be a darker scene. 1:23 brings around this kind of chaos of war... and then it fluctuates throughout, going from peaceful to war-like in a great transitive way. Not a song I even thought would get mixed specifically, but it sure did get mixed well! 'Course, I like anything Zelda and orchestrated; what better combination is there? 10 outta 10!
One of the best on OCR. Applaud this man.

I LOVE THIS ARRANGEMENT!
One of the best arrangement I've heard musically!
First the harp-ish variation of the folk-ish opening story theme from Zelda: WW, it is really a good work and when the strings starts you feel there's no stopping DarkeSword from making something epic!
And then the horns and timpani drums. Epic was the word.
The most awesome is when the snare starts pumping the millitary beat and the harp comes in once again to assist the choral-voices and the word epic is no longer enough for anyone who played through this game.
Although here's a small weakness. The tams. They seem malplaced but ofcourse they serve their purpose to give some more cruch to the track.
still, maybe they could've been exchanged?
And then the wonderful zelda theme cloured by the most beautiful chords and played (okay not played) on a nice flute sound. Then more horns. This is just to much.
Well, I'be realized I'm just saying exactly what the song is.. sorry.
But it's so good I can't do anything else ;)
Anyways, Download this NOW!
That's how good it is

Beautiful remix! I downloaded this a long time ago but never gave it much appreciation because I'd never played the game, but after getting to the part where Medli and Laruto played the harp I rediscovered it when I looked through the Wind Waker mixes. I like the wonderful epic feel to it :) I love Wind Waker! I just beat it yesterday and this mix reminds me pleasantly of it.

Now that I've finally bitten the bullet, gotten a GameCube and Wind Waker, I can honestly say that the original of this sounded a bit .... thin. As though it wasn't all there. It didn't have the epic feel I'd associate with music defining a legend.
This, on the other hand, most certainly does have that epic feel. There's a certain urgency in it after the Legend of Zelda theme section, the sort I'd associate with the showdown that's being described in the game about this time.
In general, this track feels more full than the original, and that's not a bad thing. Now, if only Darkesword would turn his attentions to that awesomely-Celtic opening theme for Wind Waker :)

In defense of the original, it's more of a minstrel's ballad, which is why it doesn't sound as epic. Its suppose to sound more like a fairy tale than an epic legend.

There are those who fail to appreciate this kind of music, those whose souls are so tainted by the world and the dark mists of egotism and sensationalism that they have lost the capacity to sense true grandeur. Let them first find the light within themselves, then the wonders that abound shall be manifest.

No words can truly describe the grandeur that is this song - it touches parts of my soul long-dormant. The artist is to be commended for his/her ingenuity! This receives an 11/10 in my book - I listen to it at least two or three times a day. Great job, and keep 'em coming!
I agree with everyone about Wind Waker - I was rigidly opposed to the game because the cell-shading made it look cartoony and stupid. I was outraged at Nintendo for ruining my favorite gaming series. Then, I broke down and got it, and loved every minute of it! Epic, lengthy, and full of memories that will last a lifetime! Great game!
Man, this song absolutly rules.
It really evokes the feeling of uncovering a new Zelda game, which was present in the Wind Waker intro.
Very nice, and overall, lives up to it's original.
Darkesword, its' da shizzle!

Wow.. just wow..
I actually came out of dormancy to come comment on this song. I haven't posted in this place for years but this song is just so good that I can't help but comment on it.
It is moving, it truly is. I actually downloaded it a while back, and today was searching through some of the fine songs here at OCR when I noticed it sounded .. painlessly familiar. Yes, it does fill the listener with emotion and I (some noob) am here to verify that.
I am one of those people who believe Windwaker was one of the most underrated Zelda games (Just next to Majora's Mask). Once you get past the cell shading, the music is great, and the game is overall great. In all honestly this song doesn't much remind me of it, in fact it has it's own personal relevance.
Very well done.. 10/10 easily. I would say 50/10, but the scale doesn't go that high =P.

Completely awesome. It perfectly captures the mood of beginning a new Zelda adventure.

Wow - this is a really amazing ReMix. It gets especially good around 00:48.9... Definately worth a listen (or in my case, 5+ listens), especially if you've played and enjoyed Wind Waker.
This is a great song! It stands among the best of all the Zelda remixes on the site. It reminds me both of starting a new Zelda adventure and Pirates of the Cartibbean, oddly enough. It works great and I don't imagine I'll stop listening to this piece for a long time to come. The build up, the transitions...the everything. This sounds like it's coming right out of a symphony orchestra. Having the main theme show through for only that little bit is really a highlight to me, as well.

this remix really makes me feel like im in love with wind waker all over again. other times it has me imagine an ocarina of time animeish music video that summarizes the entire game.
haha im such a nerd :p
very epic. who wouldn't want to give this piece a try?

Amazing. This piece is THE best Zelda remix I ever heard. Maybe the best game remix I ever heard. Wow.

There are those who fail to appreciate this kind of music, those whose souls are so tainted by the world and the dark mists of egotism and sensationalism that they have lost the capacity to sense true grandeur. Let them first find the light within themselves, then the wonders that abound shall be manifest.
Amazing the power of music to inspire such poetry.

This is great, it's a brilliant remix.
It would be great placed as a theme in its own game.
Good work :D

Epic and stirring, this piece could easily be the framing for any Zelda game. Beautiful orchestration

That excellent harp hooks me from the beginning. The dynamics throughout are fantastic; all over the place in the best way possible. Great orchestral arrangement, like everyone here has already said.

Mein Gott!
That is..
Wow...
Words...
they fail me.
My mind is blown. One of the most amazing things in quite a while.
Aside from the fact that I will forever have WindWaker and Team Fortress 2 forever linked in my mind, this is an amazing piece; its so melody driven. It definitely feels like the theme to some ancient forgotten lore, highly grandiose, equal parts orchestral and medieval, with a great sense of destiny. This is a really beautiful piece.
p.s. Bonk! :3

Wow.
To get chills not even a minute into a piece... it's incredible. DS really knows his way around the orchestra, and I absolutely LOVE his work. He always seems to have a remix of something from every game that i love, and this piece does not disappoint.
Great reverb on the opening harp, gotta let me know what you are using there, dude!
For presumably all free samples, this all sounds pretty nice, even the choir. :-)
The arrangement is classy and nuanced, with tasteful additions, and everything done here has a distinct place in the mix. The pacing is strong, and everything is melodically interesting, with good dynamics.
Good stuff Shariq, now about hooking me up with that reverb... ;-)

I believe it's just Fruity Reverb.
I believe it's just Fruity Reverb.
That is not a reverb I can use. ;_;
Could you maybe just lie and say it is some random reverb I can get as a free AU plugin? :-D
Just link to any reverb and i'll probably believe you.

Epic adventures on the high seas! This remix takes me places I haven't been since I was young and dreaming of...well, you know. Adventure.

I'd've said set sail for high adventure, but a poster before me beat me to it, still this mix is awesome enough that it bears repeating.

This is a nice mix of Legendary Hero. It builds up towards the end , like a slow sustained unveiling of a legend. Something sounds off about the orchestra to me - perhaps humanization or samples is an issue? The track is quite old though so I can forgive that. The arrangement is solid and still enjoyable regardless.
I have nothing to say. the treatment of this song is absoulutely stunning.
