Somehow I picked up Mustafa. (along with Asmodeus and Diablos...)

THIS HERE IS THE SHIT. Right here in electronic music form, this is THE SHIT. I'm sorry, I normally don't do this but this song deserves it. It's THAT GOOD. analoq keeps getting better and better, and I thought this work deserved to be highlighted. With a fantastically killer bassline, deadly synths and evil names, put together with professional, uh, professionalism, you can't go wrong. THIS IS THE SHIT. DOWNLOAD IT. NOW.

Wow, I am impressed. This brand of 'elektronica' not being something I'd go and seek out, I'm none-the-less incapable of denying the professional slickness of the entire piece. And being it a Doom mix, there's just an inherent backbone to the music that stands up on its own merit. Certainly Rammstein-esque, at least, Rammstein on one of their more quiet tangents. I thought the vocals a perfect fit to the ambience of the piece. They also serve to establish analoq as being one of those Remixers definately pushing the edges of this hobby into something definitely professional-grade. Definitely worth a download. Definitely worth multiple listenings. Good freaking job.

Damn, this is badass. I was just waiting for a huge beat to bust in, and what I got was somewhat tame. The whole thing kinda feels like a huge build up for something that never comes. But it is still freakin awesome. Superb synths.

Pretty cool. I didn't like how it became 8-bit sounding just after 2:00, but that went away. I didn't want the drums to go loud, to be honest, because that would have ruined the song (in my opinion). This is a very cool piece.

The tune is excessively cool. The 'lyric' part of it would work if they were just a TAD more audible, I think, but it's still very cool.

Very nice. It's sounds really clean, which is cool - but I gotta admit, I like mixes that are sort of dirty sounding a little more... as they seem to have more lower frequency content that can draw some more - i don't know the word - heh. The intruments and sequencing is really good, they are! THEY ARE!!! Ok, I just wanted to make sure I got that point across - lol. I really dig the synth bass that comes on at 0:13 (and how it shifts and slides as it's going through the different sections), as with alot of the other effects like the choirs, xylophes at 1:47, rammstein style talking, new bass at 0:54, and those pads that are really hiding in the background at 3:26 (with the slices of left panned guitarish-ness).

Man, about the section Hax was talking about - I like it too, but for an entirely different reason. This may sound VERY strange, but you might find this as fascinating as I did. There is a interesting connection with the 2:08+ section and Mazedude's "Norfair Deathmarch" mix; which is close to impossible to notice, because they are both on opposite ends of the spectrum of a 4 generation family of remixes. The second one of the string is doomed.mid... which can be found here (http://www.angelfire.com/id/choksta/music/zipped/20track.zip); and the third is Braving the Flames.mp3 (http://adhesiveboy.no-ip.com/music/ab-bravingtheflames(originalvers).mp3). Try them out and see for yourself! Isn't that fuckin' hilarious? I certainly thought so... :)

For anyone deciding whether to download -- check this one out, it's quite excellent.

There are some things about VG remixers I may never understand. Among them are an underground but persistent fixation with lounge jazz, the frequent posting of signatures too disgusting for words, and the desire to remix music from Doom games. My impression of the game's music is that it was repetitious, annoying, and forgettable. I normally jump at a new Mazedude remix, but if it's from Doom I kinda cringe.

I have to admit, this mix makes me understand a little better :P I actually DO recognize that groove, and while it's not a terribly fond recognition, analoq did a great job with it. The voice-overs are superb and incredibly appropriate. The mixing is deliciously clean. Despite being from a repetitious original, it doesn't get boring.

This is great stuff. Considering most people don't have the same issue with the Doom soundtrack I do, I'm sure everyone will love it even more than I did. Which is to say I loved it quite a good bit.

What? No cruel carnivorous distortion of banging drums? I'm lost.

Nah, just kiddin'.

Still a great piece that oozes out a tight groove.. which ain't all that satanical to me personally.

When expecting any Doom remix on OCR, I only expect the very best.

This has not failed me.

This mix sounds very Rammstein-ish to me. The voices are totally bitchin', added in well. Great great song analoq.

This has a very distinct German Techno sound to it. It's wonderful. Very clear.

The synth after 2:20 is great. The only problem I have with this is it's just not very heavy, needs something more in the background, that's how I love my doom mixes.

But that's just personal preference, excellent work this is.

Edit: KICK ASS ENDING. KICK! ASS! ENDING!!

Dammit analoq, I love you.

Er, review, yeaaaah...

This fucking rocks my socks off. It's like a big Doom crossover of Frontline Assembly with Crystal Method. The drums aren't BIG, but they're groovy, choppy, and excellent. The synths are humongous, well chosen/programmed, and all around kick butt. The pitch-shifted ride (at least, that's what it SOUNDS like) adds a crapload rhythmically, and all of the other percussive odds and ends were sweet. Ending was... well... awesome.

God dammit, this is the kind of thing I hate. The song is too good for me to be able to review it all long and drawn out and crap, so all I can say is "DOWNLOAD IT NOW or meet your demise..."

EDIT: 1:35 totally kicks it into high gear as far as the synths go. The big churning pad that comes in is just so sweet...

Two updates in two days, one from Quinn Fox and one from analoq - what a treat!

analoq's 'Thin Glow' and 'Wanda Phanta' are two of my favourite remixes from the site, and I'm always eager to hear anything new from him. I'm not familiar with the music from Doom, but this has such a superb sound. Absolutely well worth the download :D

Great ReMix, though I'm not that big on electronica, definitely worth the download.

And from looking up stuff, this is what I can pick up on the lyrics...

I think that's the list.

This has excellent musical production. The ending is well done, but I don't know what the big deal is, as that's what any good ending should sound like anyways. The source material ("Donna to the Rescue") isn't exactly one of my favorite Doom songs either. Overall, I still don't understand why this is getting such hype. The overall sound is good, but nothing grabbed my attention to makes this song special in any way. Worth a listen, but don't hold your breath expecting something momentus. Just another remix that lives up to the analoq quality standard.

Yeah, I do wish it had some sort of rock kicking in, however, the way it stands makes it sound more like Doom and less like Rammstein. Probably for the better. :)

Any other ReMixes like this (other than River City Rammstein) that you guys know of?

Man I agree totally. I was just waiting for all hell to break loose. The song mostly chugs along at about the same level of excitement... a simple thing like dynamic change at the end when all the building starts to come together would make it that much cooler.

And overall, amazingly good work.

That IS the kind of bass lines and bass sounds we LOVE !
(on the contrary, I would probably prefer without the effect at the very
beginning...).
The gapped guitar and the voice make me think of the german band "FRONT 242" (< this is a compliment).

Nothing to add about the pad chords ending: the shivers on my arms speak for themselves.

The whole thing just feels like one of those scenes in an action movie when all the guys are preparing for battle, and are gearing up in a badass warehouse, or tunnel, or cave or something with a theme like this pumping in the background, psyching you out. The fade-in also lends it to be more cinematic (popcorn-cinematic, mind) in this way, making feel more like a calm-before-the-bloodbath type theme. The kind I love.
This feeling is echoed when the demons are introduced. It feels like this could be incorporated in a movie, as the theme is playing, the guys are walking in slow motion with all the kickass guns and bazookas and such, then the demons are introduced, left to right.

I do believe I've watched too much Blade lately.

Anyway, kickass song, and I hope to see more from analoq in this fashion.

Very good work Analoq, I love how you put in the "roll call" as you call it, it gives the piece a more demonic feel.

Analoq, good work I say. Does anyone else think the whole song has a Nine Inch Nails feel to it? Maybe a bit more pop-ish, but still the dark, pulsating feel Trent Reznor has to most of his music. I dig the opening bassline, very similar to the opening bassline to More Human Than Human (and I loved that too).

of course you dig that bassline, it's the business and you're the biz. you are somewhat related, no? (:

but yes, that bassline is directly influenced by the white zombie song. i'm surprised it wasn't pointed out earlier. NIN was an influence also. decent ear, you've got.

Thanks for the compliment, analoq. I have a very decent but very untrained ear...a situation I am very soon going to remedy. One of the many genres I enjoy is the industrial/electronic sound, kinda like NIN but not as fucked up :) If anyone has any good suggestions for good bands here, drop me a line. Again, good stuff, very professional.

Mmm, White Zombie and Nine Inch Nails connections! I'm pretty sure I also felt a short "woah, this remindes me of More Human than Human" experience the first time I plugged it in (from that funky synth bass at 0:13)... but I figured that was this just a common style or something; and didn't want to insult your creativity - lol.

That buildup at 0:50 definately sounds to me like has some NIN roots. I'm verging towards either something from Quake or the song "the wretched" - but my instinct tells me that it was influenced (somewhat) by Driver Down; which is track 22 on the Lost Highway soundtrack. Interesingly enough, that soundtrack also features a few tracks by Rammstein (as some have already mentioned as a questionable influence). I don't know, maybe I'm just crazy. :)

Oh man. I've been playing this nonstop after I rediscovered it. Creezus this is awesome. One thing, though. How the heck did you get that awesome sound that it starts out with? There are few words to describe how awesome the intro sound is, and *then* the music starts.

Like mentioned before, that bass is *The* business.

it's been a while so i don't know how accurate this recollection is, but:
i think i started out with a triangle wave patch (maybe with ringmod?), played a very dissonant chord and filter sweeped it with lots of resonance.
from there i put it through a thick analogue distortion and a short delay with a whole lotta feedback.

it is much fun to make such offensive sounds!

cheers.

Definately my favorite DOOM and DOOM 2 mix on the site, which is saying something, because I love nearly every one of them dearly. This one just brings something darker, more oppressing to the table that I need sometimes, and the addition of the infernal names just raised it to another level.

Though I must confess that I went out of my way to learn them. Oh well.

Good work, man.

I arrived at this site yesterday by word of John Romero. I listened to this remix and I knew I was gonna hang out for a while.
I really liked this remix, I think it's a little slow for fragfests and like someone else said it's a little too clean. Nevertheless the groove is very hypnotic and the basslines has got to be one of the juiciest basslines I've heard (right next to "Synapse" ).

Congratulations again for a work well done.

The Eight Infernal Names! ALL RIGHT! Now I can open that portal to Hell!

But seriously. I'm sure I'm not the only one, but ever since The Dark Side of Phobos (http://doom.ocremix.org/) launched, I've been checking out the other DOOM remixes on the site. So far I've only listened to N-JekteD's Purgatory (http://www.ocremix.org/remix/OCR01385/) and this. And I am far from dissapointed. This is awesome stuff. I will agree with the collective. The "incantation", as I like to call it, is reminiscent of something out of German goth metal. Which fits in perfectly with the musical style as well as compliments the piece's hellish inspirer. It creates an ideal atmosphere. Great job.

You know, it's a well known fact that we Omega men stick pretty close. And though I generally find TO's comments spiking the nail in the face, I have to roll with NeOmega on this one.

Rammstein remixed by NIN into a swirly dark chocolate.

Well composed and executed, as usual...so I'll save the praise...you know it's great.

I think the track knows it's purpose, but there were a few things that I think (in my humble un-remixing opinion) that could have upped the stakes on this one.
Namely, dropping the cute tickles and maybe adding some haunting choruses (deep demonic basses or shrill siren-esque sopranos)...that, or some face-busting orchestral strings...that, or actually finding a way to infuse the listed demons into the track...

...now wouldn't that be keen...

I've been going to this site for a long time and this has always been my favorite remix, and now that I've finally gotten around to stop being lazy I knew that this would have to be the first remix I commented on because it's that good. This remix has inspired me to listen to Rammstien because someone commented on it and mentioned that it sounded like Rammstien so i fugure there was a whole band that did music like this remix that I loved so much. It's even inspired me to write an epic novel of tolkienesque proportions. I believe that if OCR ever makes some kind of hall of awsomeitude this should be the very first remix to grace it's golden pixels.

Well I am a huge fan of industrial music, (like enough to name off a bunch of obscure bands no-one has heard of as my favorites.... Hocico, Wumpscut, Kevorkian Death Cycle...) so um, I know what Rammstein sounds like, I always wanted to get back and say, "yuh-huh, it does too sound like Rammstein, anyone who has heard alot of Rammstein knows it does!!!"

Thanks for backing me up.

Anyways... yeah, everytime I hear it, I still think Rammstein, and I still think it plays really well, and still sounds great, and everytime I hear it I get an itch to get back to these forums and post "yuh huh!!"... now that itch has been scratched... :P

sounds like an old nine inch nails sound study with added spoken demon evocations. Do not expect something that in any way resembles Rammstein, as has been stated before. The whole thing is bland, at times feels detached through pointlessness. Still, a good example of that the judges do not mess with taste, because otherwise this could not have passed: technically there is nothing wrong with it, but I also see no reason besides nostalgia why one would want to hear this.

There's no way this would have been passed just because it's "competent." Just because you personally didn't enjoy it, don't extrapolate that to how djpretzel or the staff viewed the mix. You'd be absolutely wrong.

A lot of synths sound like acids going through chemical reactions: fizzy, bubbly, and carbonated, releasing gaseous by-products in the interim. It's like I'm witnessing a chemistry experiment in hell/on Mars, where Marine flesh gets devoured by the poisonous waters not unlike sugar getting raped by sulfuric acid. Other effects are equally curious, like the tone-and-volume-guided gatings starting at 0:31 or the hyper RPMs during the 8-bit break. And for some reason - I don't know why - some of the muted synths make me picture black wings or a black cape flapping ominously, particularly during the demonic roll calls and after the brief silence halfway through.

It's definitely sly, intimidating, and darkly transmogrifying like an incubus.

Super oldschool Nine Inch Nails feel to this, which i'm certain has been mentioned about 9001 times already in this very review thread. Very cool sounds, and i'd totally fight some demons named kumbaya and rastaman.

It does indeed sound very much like NIN. I mention this because this song just came up on shuffle on my mp3 player today, and now it's on my "I should make a mashup out of this song" list. Watch this space! ;)

(Also, yes, it is in fact quite a great remix. But you already knew that.)
