Genso Suikoden 2 'Reminiscence (Deep Sleep)'
Nice soft mix from Hazama. This is my personal favorite of his stuff, (I'm not overly fond of the Pop-Up mix). If you like pianos you'll love this mix. A very underwatery sounding mix also. It's a pretty tune.

This is probably my favorate mix peroid.
I've never understood the underwater feel that several have described, but it's just a beautful, relaxing, remix. The best replacement for "sleepy time tea" at the cost of zero dollars

This is by far my favorite ocremix... and the only one that's ever made me cry because it's so beautiful. One of the reasons i stalked hazama until he dissapeared one day. ... but hey, he came back and now i'm like whee. :D
On another note, there's another version of the pop-up remix with ultra bass.
It may not be techno, people.. it may not be happy, even. But it is truly a work of art... that should not be ignored. Thank you, Hazama, for making this wonderfully touching piece a remix to love and cherish forever. :D

I'm new to this site, and this was the first remix I came across. I must truly say that I'm blown away. This is one of the best remixxes I've ever heard, period! The song is beautiful and serene, I just can't help but float away. This is ambience at its best.

This is most definately one of my favorite mixes. It's soft, soothing, and relaxing. The bass gives sort of a slow, mellow flow to the song. Very nice job, Hazama.
Hazama you rule man, this is by far my favorite remix out of 125 I have saved on my hd. I don't really know jack shit about remixing, but I know what sounds good and this is it. So if your looking for a laid back sad piano tune, this is right up your alley. Hazaman please create more piano remixes!

You know, I don't know why I've never posted on this one.. cause it's
really one of my favorites. Totally gorgeous. The emotional feeling
in the music is really stirring. It would be a grave injustice to us all
if we were never treated to Haz at the keyboard again.
Perfectly beautiful.

Other people have said it before me, and other people will say it after me, but in my opinion, this is hands down the best mix on this site. Hazama's remix as a straightforward interpretation is actually better than the original AND the string version tracks from Genso II. I agree with the "underwater"/ambient piano feel to this mix, and I could leave it on loop all day and not get tired of it. There are certainly other "tier 1" mixes on OCR, but nothing's touching "Reminiscence (Deep Sleep)" for a very long time.

Woooo! ...alrighty, time for me to continue my short spree of putting down mixes and generally just pissing people off :? .
I once heard this on one of "Injury's" web radio thingies, but I had to leave in the middle of it. So, finally, I decided to download it... and discovered it was probably good that I left when I did.
The song starts out quite nicely, and is quite impressive and could be described as beautiful. Oddly enough, I found after about a minute or two of the same plinking of the piano, I wanted it to end, but had to endure several minutes of the exact same thing. At least, that's what it sounded like. It was very hard to tell as none of it is all that memorable. I'm absolutely sure some people would love this sort of thing, just not me.
Final verdict: Emotional, but boring, even for a piano piece.

This was the second remix I ever downloaded from the site. It is still my favorite. This is pure excellence in .mp3 format.

The fact that it made my nephew cry is a testament to its absolute beauty. It was an interesting scene. He was sitting eating oatmeal and the song started playing. He started crying and I cried along with him.

A conservative approach to a stunning piece. Although I think the impact of this piece has more to do with the great original, you do a great job in adding your own style to it. The way the piano sound is processed is really unique, and it really does makes this mix. Great work.

Only my second Review, and I'm getting directed around. And I'm being pointed in the right direction too! This is a quiet, ambient-type mix, the type of which I love to listen to. The whole piece is based around the piano, which hangs in the fore and background. Once or twice there's a few chimes thrown in, to give it a little sparkle. I've never played the game, but it's seeming more worthwhile.

I love this song so much.
It's always been of great service to me.
Big thanks to Hazama for making one of my top five favourite pieces from this site.
It's really, really good.
My first review, and I couldn't have reviewed a better mix.
When I first heard the original tune in Suikoden 2, I cried. Last time a piece of game music made me cry was the ending/credits music to Lufia 2.
Oddly with this mix, as pretzel stated, when I close my eyes and listen..I imagine an underwater scene. It brings me peace, but also takes hold of my emotions. It's a beautiful piece indeed, filled with emotion.
I believe that if the composer of the original could hear this, they'd be astonished and moved to tears.
So thank you Hazama, for creating a piece that's made me cry even more than the original has.

All I have to say is "Ahhhhhhhh".... This mix was one of the most peaceful mixes I have heard. The Piano was beautiful and the strings were wonderful.
Very nice soothing Re-mix, it almost put me to sleep.
Thanks for the remix

This remix of reminiscence has to be one of the most beutiful piano scores I have ever heard. I love the way they put the music together, it is perfect. Now I know the reason why they called it a deep sleep remix, I almost fell asleep!

I really love these soft mixes, and if you ever played this game you'd realize why it was so sad. Whenever I get a mix, if I had played the game, I have to remember exactly where it came from in the game. And as I listen to it, it takes me back to that part of the game. This song did a very brilliant job at doing just that. Very nice remix ;).

10 or so seconds into this mix and I had one of those real relaxing "Whoooooa..." feelings go over me. Maybe it was just coincidence, or maybe it was the mix, I don't know. But either way, I like this. Perfect ambient-like stuff.

Wow, this is the second rather old (02) mix that my playlist has shuffled to.. and I am blown away. It doesn't make me feel sad, except that it reminds me of when I was little, and I'd play the piano at my grandmother's before she died.

This mix reminds me a lot of the Gundam SEED Soundtrack. They were huge fans of the distortion technique (hope that's the correct way to describe how it sounds) used on the piano in this song. I love it!

This one's always been a favorite of mine. The ethereal piano processing is absolutely perfect and though the composition itself may lack complexity, it is an emotionally impacting performance.

The pads and piano approach, especially with as dark and creamy a piano as this, lends itself to beautiful reflective music. You've executed that idea wonderfully. Very nice Hazama.

So let it be known I have an abnormal hearing range. It's not Dog like, but there is a high pitch whine throughout this entire song. I hope this isn't the watery sound you people were talking about. I was wondering why I got a headache every time I listened to it. Fix this whine and you've got me sold.
I guess that's the downside of having a nice soundcard and phones. It is just this song and it's not a hardware/software issue. I get it in winamp, WMP, itunes, and my nano (but not my old mini because I don't think it could play that. Also it's not my headphones because I got it on my earbuds and my full headphones.
As for the review of the song, it needs more variation. besides just adding violin harmony. It has tension and resolve but no dynamics to flow it with the exception of the bridge around 1:50. I'm only really critical because of the pitch though. I like the song and what the artist developed-- melody and variations and all.
There is a high pitched drone going on here, but this source song is one of my all time favorites. This remix is just an extended version of the original though, with no new additions, and a very slightly slowed tempo.
I love the song and this mix a ton, but you can hear almost this exact same version on the original soundtrack.

Very peaceful. Reminds me of my electronic piano, the way the intro sounds. I heart the strings.
I am a bit disappointed by the abrupt ending however. It seems to be the kind of melody that needs a fade out. Great composition nonetheless.

I almost never post to the boards, but my iTunes hit this song on shuffle today, and I loved it enough to put it on infinite repeat while I study. Straight forward arrangement or not, this moves me.
The first time I heard this, I cried so hard I accidentally tasted my own runny snot. Then I promptly burned this onto a CD as many times as it could fit (as the only song on it). No other ReMix has had that kind of effect on me - that's how powerful a tearjerker this is.
This track came up on NGI 125 and reminded me of the debates I had with GrayLightning during the lockdown. OA's review basically echoes the sentiment we had about this arrangement, and honestly I'm not sure how it survived the purge.
That said, OCR is certainly not any worse off for having this in its in catalog. The fact that it almost didn't make it actually kind of makes me appreciate that it did. There's little, if any, else like it.
