Yeah, dawg!

So, protagonistrecords.net (http://www.protagonistrecords.net) is my little record label. If you've bought my own music through my cart system in the last 7 months or so, you may have seen the cart labeled as such. Now, I've finally got the main page rolling and have a group of artists participating. Check it out. I'll post my introduction I just recently posted on the page to let you know what it's all about:

Welcome! I'm pleased to finally launch protagonistrecords.net! I've been planning, scheming, developing, and designing my little record label for white a while and it is finally up and running!

I've been selling my own music through my artist website sgxmusic.com for a while now, and its been a good experience. I'm now excited to bring a group of talented musicians together in one spot to provide you with a lot of free tracks for download and albums to purchase.

The goal of this website is to provide a place where listeners can go to find the latest news, free mp3's, or album releases by awesome independent electronic artists and hopefully get exposed to another awesome artist they haven't checked out yet. Hopefully users and artists will participate in the forums and comment on news and mp3 releases.

Protagonist Records isn't a normal record label - it acts more as a retailer. We do not own the artists' music or have any exclusivity deals: we just sell it and provide the artists with what will hopefully be extra exposure through this site. Artists get a very heavy majority of the profits made on sales, so you can be sure that you are directly supporting the person who made the music you love.

The website is up and running, free of major issues, but it is still a work in progress. Expect style changes here and there, upgrades, additions, and minor bugs.

We hope you take a look around, check out some music, maybe buy some stuff, help us get the community started, tell your friends, and come back another time! We aim to have new music content being added constantly, so stay tuned. Subscribe to our RSS feeds, or become a fan on facebook. Most of all, enjoy the music!

Audix's physical album will be hot looking. If you've ever purchased one of my CD's in the cool cases (Chroma 1st edition, SGXRMX2, Outmoded, Hero of the Grey Area) you'll know what I'm talking about. There are some images of the SGXRMX2 cases at the bottom of this page: www.sgxmusic.com/sgxrmx2.htm. These cases are cool as nuts! Orders should ship out within 10 days, but you get the download with a purchase of the physical disc right away.

One Day Millennium is a pretty kickass way to get things started. The album is consistently good throughout with a focus on intelligent melodies and catchy grooves. Sounds yummy!

Awesome! Purchased.. err, pre-ordered(?) physical copy. =]

Can't wait to get my hands on this.

And I must join the others in saying, damn that's really slick album art. Really sweetens up the whole awesome musical package.

If I had the cash, I'd pick this up, but with no income it'll have to be up on that list of "Do Wants" until I get the cash.

I will pick it up when I can though. :<

Awwww shucks, I've listened to the awesome samples and I already want to get the CD, except I don't carry credit cards on me (And I'm generally very ignorant on how to buy stuff online). If anyone has anyway alternative ways or place i could by it, that would be most appreciated.

Great stuff Audix, and I love the art.

Hm, short of sending a check to sgx, I'm not sure how else we could swing that. Wish I could just tell you that you could just run over to Wal-Mart and pick it up. :( Thoughts Danny?

Heh, if you can't find a way, it's no biggie. In fact, now that I'm thinking about it, I can probably bug my sister to get it for me for next Christmas, assuming it will still be around then.

If only I was a little earlier... I ended up getting the flac d/l instead of the physical because the extra 2.50 would have went over my prepaid visa.

Also, the album is friggin awesome! I like White Rain the most at the moment. Awesome Work Audix!

If it were for one of my albums, I'd take cash in the mail (don't want to deal with checks). But its not, and I have to keep very accurate records so I can pay the artists accurately...accepting stuff not through my cart system will make things extremely more complex in the record-keeping dept. Sorry. Paypal only.

Audix will be getting a batch of CDs when they are ready; maybe you can work something out personally through him.

This is great stuff. I especially recommend this album to anyone who's a fan of any of Alexander Brandon's work (Unreal Tournament, Jazz Jackrabbit, Deus Ex). Recommended!

This is a lot more dance and a lot less trance. All while remaining very melodic.

If I find anything suitable for club play, I'll bug you about it later. :P

I'm interested in comments on the website (protagonistrecords.net) and the purchasing process...was any of it weird or unclear? Glitches? Suggestions?

I'm hard at work on physical copies. I'm hoping to mail out a group on Friday. I'm sorry it is a bit later than promised - I ran into some delays due to some unforseen personal bizniss, but am working hard to get this out the door. The packaging art is looking awesome. Definitely my best album design I've done! I'll post the images somewhere when it is all 100% final and I have time to do so.

You'll get an email when your physical copy has shipped.

Everything was fine for me in the order process. Just the .rar file was a little glitchy on the Mac I was using. I'm not well versed in file archiving, but I do prefer .zip files. I'm sure there are pros and cons of both, but just my two cents!

Cheers

I was never sure which people would prefer myself. I've set up a poll - please let me know which you prefer and I'll keep that in mind for the future. This would be good info for me to have. Poll: http://www.protagonistrecords.net/?q=node/58

I've shipped about half the preorders today, the second half should go out tomorrow. I've got some pictures of the discs and whatnot which I'll put up as soon as I can. They look super hot!

All those who have ordered One Day Millennium - your CDs are in the mail!

I'm pretty proud of the design I did for this album. I spent way more time on it than I meant to, but it was looking hot. Check out how it came out below. More photos on my flickr stream (http://www.flickr.com/photos/25310157@N08/sets/72157606774001653).

This is a really impressive first album from Audix, with some very slick production and a healthy absence of generic trance. Definitely sounds better than my first couple of albums  Plus, the physical CD looks hott as well.

Protagonist Records ate all my downloads. Every time I hit download it would either "fail to connect" and count it as a download, or the download would fail at some point. My connection to the internet is fine..

:(

I suppose I'll be waiting for the physical copy.

Thanks a lot sgx! It just downloaded flawlessly.

I'm not quite sure what was going on since I tried downloading it both at work and at home. Both were failing.

I'll be listening to this at work today. I already know that Visions is fantastic, I'm stoked for the longer version.

This stuff is great! I've been listening to it this morning at work.

My favorite tracks are Visions, Lockdown Breach, and Vintage Metropolis so far. I've loved Visions since the day I first heard it on Ourstage. Lockdown Breach has an incredibly catchy melody that I just can't get enough of. And Vintage Metropolis has a great groove and a fantastic bassline.

Thanks again Danny for resetting my downloads. You are great customer support! :D
