Wow.. I'm lovin the bass in this, can't recall if that's from the original, or Mazedude's own working, but whatever it is.. nice.. Really groovy mix from a classic game.

Real nice mix! Feels like summer already! Nice beat, although I haven't played the game it sounds kinda familiar... hummm... anyway!

As far as I can tell, the bassline is Mazedude's own work.

Man... I must've played this game through about 50 times when I was a wee lad. One thing that never got old was the music. This does the original justice. Well done, Mazedude. Well worth the download.

More Mazedude like this!

I mainly came here to say....WHERE HAVE I HEARD THIS BEFORE????? I know I have heard this melody before, and I'm pretty sure I've never played the game, and it feels like I've known this song for a long time. Is this song anywhere else in the world? Perhaps another mix I might have heard?

Holy shit, this sounds just like Jazz Jackrabbit 2.

wow. that NES stuff was before my time, but it just sounds as bouncy and awesome as the turtles in time soundtrack. must be the same composer?
anyway, truly great synths used here.

I loved playing this game as a child. I think you did a great job taking the original and making it your own :)

Whoa Jazz Jackrabbit was the shit... Anyway, this remix definitely makes me want to wear a colorful, holey bandana and dance. Too bad I can't dance... The bass in this is hot, and the brass shots attack you(in a good way). And I must say that the constant modulation of the melody and chords are superbly done.

doode, this sounds like Ninja turts to the end. Sooooooo cool. I like the waving synth, goes really well with the picture hahaha. Coool stuff. The drums get really technical and cool 1 05 after an amazing sequence of instruments. Coolio

' sounds like a masterpiece to me.
-Excellent slapped bass
-Excellent synth solo @1'20
-The arpeggios do the "game style" (reminds me my good-old-C64-games)
-various excellent breaks
-The entire tune is soooooooooo groovy
that I can't prevent myself to dance, move my body,
clap my hands and disturb my neighb'rs shouting more than singing!

Let me say "excellent stuff !".

It kinda reminds me of "Angel Island Zone" from Sonic 3. The first level btw.

maybe you lived next to me and heard it because when I was a kid, this and megaman were all I played.

I dont know if my weakness for nostalgia has anything to do with it, but I love this remix. 10/10 as far as Im concernced

I know where I've heard it before, at least alot of the samples and the overall groove in the tune: Nine One One by Jeroen Tel (http://www.modarchive.com/cgi-bin/download.cgi/J/jt_911.xm)

But this was not at all meant to dis  I really liked the tune! Brought me back to the happy FastTracker II days, obviously because it reminded of the tune mentioned above. Nice work![/url]

Take a sec a read the description on www.mazedude.com guys - this track is supposed to be a direct mimic and homage to Jeroen Tel, aka "Wave". Why do ya think I called it Turtle "Wave", hmm?

Tight. Tight like... I can't think of an analogy suitable for describint it.

This game actually frustrated me to no end when I was a kid, but I too give this one top-notch ratings.

Just love your work Mazedude. This is no different, in fact, I put it as your best remix on this site (Which is saying a lot considering how good your other mixes are.)

This song is so good that it kicked me in the balls so hard that it turned my balls into a vagina.

Mazedude, would you ever marry a man with a vagina?

This is indeed an unique stuff, like Mazedude's music. He captured the essence of a slap bass. Those elements proposed are pure fun. The brass did a too satisfactory justice.

Very good instrumentation. Very cool ideas. Great and nice stuff.

My sentiments exactly. Only...is there a higher bitrate version of this? I think a couple of my friends would be like ARGH THIS IS TOO HARSH 128KBPS LOL. Please thanks. Dunno if it would actually sound better. I never really get higher bit rate versions from OCRemixers so I'm just assuming it could be a lot more enjoyable when it might sound a lot the same.

Mazedude, would you ever marry a man with a vagina?
I wonder if people who say such things as this realize how freaking weird it sounds.

Sometimes, remixers will skirt the file-size limit on OCR by posting their songs on VGMix.com (http://vgmix.com/), which is unfortunately down right now.

The other option is to go to the remixer's home page (http://mazedude.com/). which you will frequently find at their profile page (http://www.ocremix.org/remixer/mazedude/).

In this case, there is no higher bitrate version of this song. The one at Mazedude's site is also 128kbps. You could probably ask him to make a higher bitrate encoding of the song, but don't expect him to give that request a high priority.

Now, this song is quite energetic and smooth. The lead synth works really well, and all those vocal shouts really get the body moving.

Edit: I just listened to Jeroen Tel's NineOneOne that Mazedude has on the download page for this song on his website. There are definitely elements of Tel's style in Turtle Wave.

Classic stuff, I've always been a big fan of this one. Chris's stuff is always unique, and the sound choices really gave it a retro-style while moving away from the actual sound of the NES. I really liked the pacing and energy here, and this mix introduced me to this soundtrack. I grew up on Turtles in Time, but never played Turtles 2 or 3 on the NES (and I hated 1!), so I'm always glad when a mix is intriguing enough to make me take notice of new game music. Mission accomplished.

Wow, another side of Mazedude revealed. This guy seems to have more sides than a cluster of zonohedrons. Which is to say, a lot. And every side offers an askew stamp and oftentimes a personal take on a certain influence. I like that a lot of Mazedude's repotoire represents varied chunks of his own psyche, with this one being one of the best.
It's very spirited and rollicks along at pretty kickass pace, until the end where it draws back into a fitting close. It pulls a lot of hefty punches in the bass department, and I loved the detailing with the vocal samples. It's clear that the entire track is aware that it has a nice, strong melody under its belt, and it doesnt care to flaunt it as much as possible, which is awesome.
It never actually transcends the sound of game music, but that's not a problem if that was the intention. There's not much at fault with this at all, which shouldn't surprise anyone who has been following OCR's finest alumni. Top notch, even by previous Mazedude standards.

Really interesting progression of the source, and a lot of great details that made it fun and eventful throughout. Cool beats and great supporting parts round out this shelltacular mix. Be sure to pay close attention to the bass, as it rocks out some pretty gnarly solos. :-)

Very fun and tight mix.

This mix remains very fun and upbeat throughout the song, which is always a plus, and the details just make it all the more delicious.

A shelltacular mix from the 'Dude

I really like how some of the synths have a dulled feel to them while others are are sharp/electronic. :3
This strike really nice balances between fast & slow and being conservative & going flat out crazy. In a Goldilocks-esque manor, this is juuuuuuuuust right.
All in all, this is just a funkily fun, "get yo groove on", "have a good day" mix.

listened to this (for the first time in quite a long while) in the car with Souliarc on the way to VGL.. though it's one of those mixes I listened to all the time back in the day, regardless of having not played the game nor heard it's music; I just thought it was an all-around bitchin' track (and it still is!).
