The People's Remix Competition 132
PRCv6-02

Hello everyone and welcome to the People's Remix Competition! (www.doulifee.com/prc/PrcSong/PRCcommercial.wmv)

The start has passed for me, it's time for my second round. In the last round, OneUp won with a very nice song, without voting he took the round. I became second, Evktalo was the third participant in the E Scrolls Arena-Sneaking round.

OneUp send me the source very quick and he did a very good choice. He decided to take a game which isn't overmixed, here we go with an undermixed NES Game:

http://bambombim.googlepages.com/PRC132-DarkwingDuck.JPG

Darkwing Duck (NES) - Floating Fortress - Steelbeaks Hideout
MIDI (http://compo.thasauce.net/files/materials/PRC132_f-o-w-l-s-floating-fortress-steelbeak-s-hideout-.mid)
MP3 (http://compo.thasauce.net/files/materials/PRC132_Darkwing_Duck_-_FOWLS_Floating_Fortress_-_Steelbeaks_Hideout.mp3)

I played Darkwing Duck in my childtime and I remembered this song as one of my favorites. This game absolutely needs love and it's good to see it in a PRC. I hope to see a lot of good song coming in, the source and the game are really worth it.

GOOD LUCK!

The source sounds like it'd be fun to work with, but this is an awful week for me. :C

At any rate, I'm on time with the sig...

Whoa, Darkwing Duck - nice choice, OneUp! :D
You know, when we see a great NES Capcom Disney game here, we know that we're in for a good compo. I know that the Duck Tales one from last December didn't get much credit for itself though, but seriously, this compo will rock :)

Maybe this is the time to return to this compo with my electro stuff :)

Less than a day and a half left and still no entries.

Wha, that time already?! I'll try and finish something to submit tonight =D

Now there's only 16 hours left. It looks like you might win by default. Unless Bundeslang gives the contest an extension.

Bundeslang

I'll give this an extension if we have one (or none) songs. I hope I don't need to do that. I won't be able to submit something myself.

Isn't it funny? You've only been running PRC for two contests, and you're already giving extensions.

Really short ninja entry! Oh ho ho ho, didn't see that coming, now, did you?

Yes, I just made it in the last hour or so.

Still two entries....

But I decided to give this an extension. You have 1 day and 9 hours extra to finish the song. After that, voting will start for sure. Three entries is always better as two (and four is better as three etc.....)

Less than 2 hours left.

It's looking like it'll be a two-entry contest. But I suppose that's better than a one-entry contest, which really isn't a contest at all.

After the extension, it's time to start the next phase of the contest.

Here's the voting stage

Two entries before the first deadline... and three after (Txai was too late, but I could add his song as well. The extension worked after all).

The mixing stage is over. The voting stage has begun!. To vote, you should do the following:
- Visit the stated ThaSauce Page (http://compo.thasauce.net/rounds/view/PRC132) and listen to all the entries
- Scroll to the form at the bottom of the screen
- Fill in the rank of the entries from first to third.
- State a reasoning for it.

Contestants can vote, but not for themself. They receive an added first place if they do. The winner of PRC131 (OneUp) has a vote that counts twice. You have until NEXT WEDNESDAY, November 5th at 4:59 am Eastern US Time to cast your vote.

The winner will get to choose the source tune for PRC133!

The songs:
Hylian Lemon - Winging It (http://compo.thasauce.net/files/Hylian_Lemon_-_Winging_It(PRC132).mp3)
Just64helpin - Let's Get Dangerous (http://compo.thasauce.net/files/just64helpin_-_Let_s_Get_Dangerous(PRC132).mp3)
Txai - My name is Darkwing Duck (http://compo.thasauce.net/files/Txai_-_My_name_is_Darkwing_Duck(PRC132).mp3)

Noooooooooooo...

I was submitting mine in the last minute but it didn't got to be there.

Is there a way I can post mine? I can host it here if necessary.

You have until NEXT WEDNESDAY, October 5th at 11:59 am Eastern US Time at 5:59AM EDT

Luckily I have my DeLorean handy.

It was not my fault if my track wasn't hosted there within the last minute. I will post it here anyway.

http://www.fileupyours.com/view/149382/Txai_-_My_name_is_Darkwing_Duck%28PRC132%29.mp3

You wanted more people on it, didn't you? So hopefully my song will be in this contest as well.

I received no votes so far, so I decided to add your song. Voting will start in 27 minutes from now (to make it possible to add the song) and I'm not changing the voting deadline.

I hope Just64helpin and Hylian Lemon are able to vote as well (because they first didn't have to do that). In a case of a tie between Just64helpin or Hylian Lemon and Txai, Txai loses.

But yes, Txai is in the contest and I'm happy with that. (Next time, make sure you uploaded the song before the deadline).

Next time, I try to check the thread 30 minutes after I start voting as well, it happened before in PRC130. Just to prevent these situations.

I'm not changing the voting deadline.

So the deadline is still October 5? Intriguing...

I was still editing the post and I'm tired, but thanks for pointing it out.
Everything should be good now. I'll check the thread in 15 minutes to make it sure. Check my signature and you know the exact time and the time you still have.

What a mess. Remove the entry posted by yourself. It was removed because I did it.

Bundeslang

OK... How funny. You removed the song, then I reupload it under my name and then there where two songs.
I think everyting is fixed except one thing.
Hylian Lemon already has one point before someone voted. I think I fix that after the voting.

OK... How funny. You removed the song, then I reupload it under my name and then there where two songs.

You should host my track under your name in the first place, instead of toying with my account.

Not because it was a bad action... you were trying to help, but quoting me was not my opinion of the song and it looked quite a mess. No mess is good at all. So I removed it.

Bundeslang

I'm happy you made it on time. I didn't toy with your account (I can't use it, because I don't know your password). What I did was uploading the track under my name, then change the user name with my admin powers to yours.
(I can change it to any name, even to DJ Tiësto or something like that).

I had to write a comment so I decided to copy paste your reply. It was confusing, but you and I want the song to be in the contest and it is now.
Extending the contest wasn't an option so I decided to upload the song myself.

It's results time.

The Darkwing Duck round first didn't get any interest, but in the last phase of the first session, two entries where posted. After an extension, Txai missed the deadline with a few minutes and I saw it later. Nobody did vote, so I could still add that song and I was happy with that (it was a big chaos, but after all the song was posted).
In the voting stage, every song received a first place, but only one could win.

Total number of mixes - 3
Total number of votes - 8

Highest possible score - 24

Txai is a winner for having his song added to the contest, but he didn't receive enough votes to not take the last place wooden spoon, with 14 points.

Hylian Lemon was good, but the length of his song was the reason for users to give it points which makes it a second place, worth 15 points.

And PRC132's winner is Just64helpin with 20 points!

Congratulations Just64helpin, you're the winner. It's your task to submit the new source for PRC133. Remember to not submit a song that has been covered on OCR before. You can take a popular game (Like Mega Man 1 Wily Stage 2) or a less popular game (like Godzilla for the NES). Songs from site Projects are also available.

I'm waiting for the source tune which should be submitted in two days (before November 7th (not October) at 11:59 am Eastern US Time). You should send your source submission (with a MID file) to me by PM. Don't forget it.

it's fun to hear something so rough from HL. :)
You're welcome :3

Congrats to just64helpin! You people had better enter the next round so I don't have to make another last-minute submission.

Of course, if 64's choice is awesome enough, I'll be forced to enter anyway...

You should send your source submission (with a MID file)

Just for clarification here, there have been some PRCs in the past that have started without a MIDI file but have used other formats. A MIDI file is actually something that would help those with the weaker musical ears amongst us, just not a fully essential component.
