Really held on to my attention, even though there are a lot of quiet spots. I liked the overlaying melody at 1:40, and, well, it changes too much to point much else out, but it's all good. Everything feels very intentional.

Glad to finally have someone accompany my Tetris Attack mix! Also, considering my TA remix was ALSO my debut mix on OCR, this one is a little extra special.

Love how mellow it is despite the craziness of the beat.

Congrats mate!

This is a cute little remix.
I haven't really played Tetris Attack, yet, but hearing this has certainly made my Monday a Hell of a lot brighter than it was before!
Excellent work here, halcyon.

This is an unusual little mix, but in a very good way. Its very imaginative, and has some very creative ideas. I also enjoyed the lead sequencing :D

Some of the sounds are a little simple (this mix certainly has an 8-bit feel to it) but it works great :)
Nice work :nicework:

I am going to say that for me, the best part is the first transition from the fish's stage music to Poochie the dog's stage music. The way the chords started at 1:24, moving into the dancing single notes at 1:32 to whole hog at 1:40. I almost didn't realize it had switched it was so beautifully subtle! Great work!

Love the chiptune aesthetic! The source tunes are nice to begin with, but you did some nifty things to expand upon them and make them your own. Your mix is light and fun, but what really grabs me is how it also sounds hopeful and uplifting, especially the bits after 0:54 and 2:56... you put some heart in here and it shows.

I dig all your remixes. Please keep mixing and submitting! And everyone else, do yourself a favor and check out halcyon's other works that haven't made it here (yet?); they don't disappoint.

Great textures and attention to detail! Great panning and sound selection, and the source sounds pretty great with the adjustments you've made. Excellent and varied sections, and a good flow throughout.
Really playful leads and counterpoint ideas and percussion that is a bit reminiscent of Ziwtra. Definitely a good thing, as far as i'm concerned.

I was *really* hoping for a pad-supported breakdown with maybe a gated synth to keep the momentum up, but I can wait until next time to hear it. Keep it in mind though, I think it'd be beautiful.

One of my favorite mixes I've heard in awhile. :-)

Your arrangement skills are solid in my honest opinion - everything you've done with this song fits like a glove, a cute, fuzzy glove. I thoroughly enjoyed it - definitely looking forward to more from you.

I'm glad to see another Tetris Attack submission! I think this remix does a great job of adding new character to the source while maintaining the general theme of the source material (IE happy and light). Tetris Attack was/is an awesome game and your mix brings justice to that fact :) .

I've always loved the soundtrack to this game, and I've always wondered why it didn't receive more attention. I really, really love this mix. I could listen to it all day! I love the variety, the way it just *fits* while being so different and shiny and new...!

Definitely a tune that makes me smile every time I hear it!

Really interesting chiptune work, I must say. It's almost aspiring to resemble dance music, even though it's held back a fair margin, which I think was a wise thing to resist.
There is something very alluring about mixes that take the road less travelled and opt out of giving a certain source edge, rawness or a melancholy element. This is pure fun, with no attachments or hidden agendas.
The variety is the clear winner here. The only way anyone could get bored of this mix is if they absolutely loathed chiptune music. The prowess of arrangement is interest grasping of the strongest sort. It's a job really well done, in that regard. The only thing that suffers from the amount of variety is that the melodies aren't as resonant and there are no major hooks to speak of. Not that it really needs it, but generally with this bubbly sort of music there is an infectious quality that isn't as strong in this.
Despite that, I can't fault this. It's ambition is simple; I can appreciate that. And it's execution is detailed, dynamic and always interesting; I can appreciate that even more. This is a huge success with me.

Alright, screw it. I've never listened to this song up to this point - I have absolutely no idea why, but for my 200th review I figured I'd do something special and check it out.

Hey, I've been missing out! The lead synths are cute as all hell (I never thought I'd use that word to describe an instrument, but dammit it's appropriate here!) and the non-8-bit instruments like the drums, piano, and strings all make this feel like a Halc mix :-) You can tell his ability with creative processing and extra effects has improved since this mix was posted, but even his debut mix is still chock-full of all the awesomeness that makes me love his new mixes so much!

Happy 200th December review to me :-D And halc, keep being smexy like this! :nicework:
