What did you think? Post your opinion of this ReMix.
I've got the Reason project file here if anyone wants to look at it: http://www.supergreenx.com/rns/Frame%20of%20Mind.rps
Vocals, some EQing and compression were done outside of reason, so this file is not totally complete.

I rarely comment on the songs here, but this one just grabbed me from the moment I heard it. I've got to say, the strings in this song were some of the best I've heard in a long time, and the sequencing of the song is so well planned, which is more difficult to do in collaborations in my opinion.
As for the vocals, Aurora did a great job with them, regardless of whether her equipment was poor. I believe there was one moment in the song where it was an issue for me, and even that was so miniscule that I wouldn't have noticed it, had the volume not been blasting.
The piano was alo incredible in this piece. I'm definetly going to find the source pieces and give them a listen too, because they were just incredible. Great job to the remixers, this is without a doubt one of my favorite mixes on the site. And I hope Aurora lends her voice to some more songs, because I really enjoyed it.

Beyond Good & Evil is definately a game that has a great soundtrack. I like this rather extended version of it, if not remarkably enhanced. I like how it transitions from 2:55. When the guitars kick in at 3:00, that's where the sweetness begins. From then on, it begins to sound like a New Age type of music. Also accurate representations of the piano pieces, as well a subtle takes, and transitions, overlapping pieces of the song together at it's most melodious parts. Gorgeous. And how it all slows down to an end, leaving the last note untouched, much like the game's open end.

Wow... these are live vocals? I'm very impressed.. Very nicely sung, I hope I hear her voice in more songs :) The song finally got some beat to it somewhere in the middle (too lazy to find exact time). Very nice arrangment, what a collab :) A keeper.

Quite a bit different than SGX's usual styles, but since this is a collaboration, that's to be expected. Still, I knew, with SGX's name on this song, it would be a must-have download, and I was not disappointed. I've been digging GrayLightning's songs for quite some time now, so a combination of SGX's skillful audio manipulation, and a new age style, not unlike GL, and you've got a killer awesome remix.
The melodic tones, the vocals, though non-lyrical, add a simple, melodious undertone that will would be enhanced by the guitars later on.
Lastly, some of the pizzicato and piano at around 1:30 seems to mimic the simple style of one Chrono Trigger map song that I still love for it's simplicity of arrangement. It appears for a few seconds at most, and it only serves, it enhances the music more than anything. Overall, it's an excellent piece of work, I give it 10/10. :D

Sheer joy from listening to this song over and over again: PRICELESS

Oh yea, I forgot I stuck that in there. I was working on putting the BGaE melody in there and I started hearing that Chrono Trigger melody in my head (even though I haven't played CT much at all), so I just stuck it in there for one phrase.
If you want to specifically know who did what, here is the rundown on the arranging:
SGX: 0:00-1:40
destructo: 1:40 - 3:42
SGX: 3:42 - 4:30
destructo: 4:30 - 5:34
SGX: 5:34 - end
and then I did some general mixing/mastering, and arranged for the vocal parts.
and Aurora sang :).
We're glad you're all enjoying this!

Remind me again why I'm an SGX fan? Oh yeah... this mix does that quite well. I may not have heard of Destructo or Aurora before (well, outside of Sleeping Beauty) but already they've shot up quite a bit in my estimation.
This is an awesome game, which had awesome music, and you did it justice. Loved the piano, the vocals were SUPERB and I hope to hear more of Aurora in other mixes just like the others around here... sub par equipment? This sounds fully professional. Well done! Very much well done!
I always get nervous when drums are mentioned in a mix, because my personal tastes lend towards a little more subtlety than drums usually offer, but I was pleasantly surprised. This didn't have a breakneck beat like so many mixers seem to enjoy adding without need, and it fit the peice perfectly. Good work there too.
I'm amazed at how... cohesive this mix turned out. I can't hear any "seams" between where SGX leaves off and Destructo picks up, and vice versa. I can hear, a little bit, the difference in style between you two, but if someone had told me that this was done by just one guy, I'd find no reason to disbelieve it.
Love it, love it, love it!

Damn! This piece is amazing. I agree with DJP in that it sounds very fitting for a film soundtrack. I've never played or even heard of this game, but you did it justice for sure. I especially loved when the drums came in, that actually caught me by surprise since i just woke up and got on the site. Excellent work...Badass stuff from all 3 of you remixers.

So pretty, so pro... jealousy rising.
In close competition with Prot's Forest Birdcussion for my #1 favourite OC Remix.
Belongs in the credits of a modern asian movie... like Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon 2.
Maybe I'll just shut up.
I don't want to touch commenting on the specifics of this one, I'm still far too in awe of it.
SGX, Destructo, Aurora:
THANK YOU!

I'll have to reiterate the fact that this shies away from SGX's normal pattern of techno/breakbeat, but anybody that can enjoy an intense piece is sure to be able to enjoy a softer one. That certainly holds true for me.
Since I don't know much (really, anything at all) about remixing techniques, instruments, or the like, I'll just say that this is a freaking SUPERB remix. The emotionally-controlled equivalent of the beat-controlled 'More Than a Weapon' and perhaps even 'Kick Your A'. Incredible work.
Oh, and Aurora...KEEP SINGING. You're making me tear up.
~.C.S.~
I'm a huge fan of the game, and the games music, so when i first saw this posted on SGX's official site i grabbed it.
Beautiful remix, I like it quite a bit more than the majority of the original beat of the game. (I believe thats partly in fact that the MP3's of the game i have are just plain captures and have some really annoying overlays)
Anyway, keep remixing, I absolutely the sound to this, I'm not a fan of lyrics in music, but vocal's like that can't be underestimated for the amount of beauty they have.
I think i've said beautiful far too many times already, but its just the best way to describe this piece.

Right at the beginning of the song I hear a little jingle that reminds me of Crono Trigger.
The mix over all is great...and I'm more of a fast beat techno kinda guy. I'm alittle harder to impress with the slower more gentle mixes. But this one is great.
And I couldn't agree with Dj more. The vocals and the piano work is unparalleled.
This one will definitely homestead a few Meg on my mp3 player.
Great work.

While I didn't care for the soundtrack as a whole, the songs chosen for this remix are are great (definately the best ones from the game). The game was also great; I bought it for GameCube about two months ago. Anyway, this remix has a lot to offer. Good work SGX and friends! :)

This great remix floods my mind with images from a very memorable game. I don't really have the understanding to appreciate all of the work or talent that goes into making remixes like this or others, but thanks for doing justice to a beautiful game.

And finally, someone finally remixes BG&E. I can't believe no one has remixed it before. Heck of a remix. It gives you a type of chill, makes ya feel all tingly & crap. Yeah, I know, thats not really much of a review. Well here I gets serious.
I absolutely luf this whole mix. Really captures the feel of BG&E. With some intrigue, paranoia, & a little heroism thrown in. This song really encompasses the whole scope of the game. I really loves me some SGX break beat. The orchestra, the vocals, & of course Supergreens superb tech skills make for a truely unique & wonderful take on BG&E's great soundtrack. Bravo.

I registered this account so I could comment on this ReMix. That's how much I liked it. Of course, I undoubtedly would have gotten an account sooner or later, but saying that adds emphasis.
As djpretzel commented, this song sounds like it should be in a movie.
It sounds very professional; the piano is incredible, and the strings are up there as well. The singing is amazing. Aurora, keep singing. Please. This is definitely going on my top five list. Thank you - SGX, Destructo and Aurora.

Yeah, I caught that too. Most evident from 1:28 - 1:38. It's definitely a chunk from the 600 AD overworld music.

It might just be that I'm really tired right now, but I found this remix beautiful and inspiring. It's calm enough that I think I might listen to this next time I decide to write. Heck, I almost let a tear fall, it was that wonderful (or maybe that's the sleep factor kicking in again).

A very good tribute to an exceptional game. Bravo indeed!
For those of you who haven't experienced BG&E: as a long time gamer, and as an amateur game developer, I consider it to be one of the best games of the past fifteen years. I strongly recomend it to any gamer, and many non-gamers.
For those of you who have played the game; if you haven't already, go to the official Ubisoft forum http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/6/ubb.x?a=frm&s=400102&f=908103432 for Beyond Good & Evil, and help support the game. There may not be many of us who bought it, so we need to be LOUD to get the sequel it deserves.
I'm going to go off and enjoy this great remix, which is telling me to go play the game for a third time.

Wow. I mean wow. Unfortunately, this is a game I've never had the opportunity to play--but damn if this isn't a stellar remix. Amazing vocals, nice piano work, great electronic snippits...I could work overtime trying to think about negative things to say about this piece, but it would be a futile effort. Download this and experience it for yourselves!
This is a testament to the greatness that are Ocremixes, and the people that put them together. Keep up the great work!

Excellent remix of an excellent game! Although I prefer the quiet part of the song it's still well done overall. Have to play Beyond again now :-) (one of the best PC games IMHO - sad it didn't sell that good)

This remix is brilliant. The whole thing flows together so beautifully, and the vocals are magnificent. I cannot really find the words to describe the sheer excellence of this contribution.
And as for Beyond Good and Evil itself, it is tragic that it suffered poor sales. It is quite honestly one of the greatest games that I have experienced in many years - and I've played a lot of games. In my eyes, it even manages to outshine Zelda: The Wind Waker.
Whilst Zelda wins with regards to its sheer epic size and interaction, Beyond Good and Evil has an epic atmosphere, storyline, characters and soundtrack which you can't forget after playing it. It may not be the longest of games (I finished it in 17 hours, although I didn't collect all of the many items and participate in a lot of the sub quests/games), but the consistent polished quality of the game more than makes up for it (not that a 15-20 hour game is considered short by many people's standards).
Honestly, if you haven't played this game guys, do so. You won't regret it. I cannot stress this enough - Ubisoft really shot themselves in the foot by allowing this title to fail by not marketing it properly. It's like Grim Fandango all over again - an unbelievable game, but due to bad marketing from LucasArts it suffered terrible sales.
It took a few years for people to finally try it out and realise just how amazing it was - by which time it's too late for the developers to consider a sequel. It looks like Beyond Good and Evil is on the same path.

I can only confirm what you said. BG&E is a pearl of quality between dozens of games (but they sold better.. it's a shame). It's truly the atmosphere what makes this game unique, also there are many details and a good story, well I can only repeat what's already said. If you liked Zelda play this game, it's worth!
Yhoko
Btw: Ubisoft is yet unsure whether to make a sequel of BG&E or not. In germany we're collecting subscriptions to change their mind into the right direction. Personally I guess it was the bad marketing why it sold so bad but maybe people just don't want good games anymore (but brainless shooters like UT instead).

I've been playing BGE since it came out in the US (even tho I live in switzerland, I hade to buy a freeloader just for that game), and so far it's my absolute favorite solo game. I like to just let myself float on the water in my hovercraft, or sit down just to listen to the music of it...this...this is Zelda-level, man! Beautiful tunes that this mix takes up and adds some beat and vocals to. Truly great. 6:32 of pleasure :D

I was on the beach a couple days ago on a full moon night, and was listening to this song on an mp3 player as I stared out at the moon's reflection on the sea. It was one of those moments of pure beauty where I fell in love with everything around me. The moment Aurora's vocals came in, I cried. It was the most non-sexual orgasmic moment of my life, I'm not sure if I cried because of the sadness of the song, or just the pure beauty of it coupled with my surroundings. Whatever the reason is, this song has achieved a feeling inside of me that has never been evoked before.
I thank everyone who worked on this song.

I cannot explain how amazing this group effort is; this mix is without a single doubt one of the best mixes on OCR. The entire length captures the pure essence of the incredible game it is based on. SGX, I'm guessing your part is right at 3:46, and it is incredible. All the mixers added a distinct layer to this amazing mix. Everything balances nicely. The first time through, I thought the timing and tempo was a bit random, but after a second go-around, I tossed that thought out. Great work. KUDOS +1000.

I wish that these three would collab again, because this this mix is full of really great elements, and it would be interesting to see what else they could come up with together. The mood of this remix is very well established in the beginning with the swirling background. Vocals and strings are done well, the only thing I don't like about the strings is that on parts like 2:20-2:44 the strings crescendo on every note and then back off again. It just sounds a little strange. At the 2:44 it builds into desctructo's major section. I really enjoy how the percussion has been employed here, it has a unique sound. Then, the switch at 3:40 into SGX's adaptation of the previous section is very cool. The work on the new sound of the percussion in this part is quite nice, and the synths that come in have wonderful textures. The low bass sweep thing at 4:34 is a nice transitioning sound and very satisfying to my ears atleast. Piano arpeggios are nice, everything fits well together. The filtered piano ending is very peaceful. One word to sum it up: Atmospheric.

Oh dear Lord.. You people have got to be kidding me. I thought I'd just try downloading a random song because they usually turn out to be pretty good. I clicked on this one, started reading the posts and found nothing but praise. Of course, I quickly download the song, I mean come on, listen to these people:
"Hitchhiker42: I registered just so I could comment on this song. This is amazing. I've had it on repeat on Winamp for almost an hour now."
Oh this is going to be awesome!...
What a disappointment. This song is boring and annoyingly random, not to mention totally out of harmony. That voice certainly isn't helping!
Around 2:44, after being declared dead from boredom, you wake up again. What's this? A piano? Nice :D And a nice beat--no wait.. you just screwed that up. Sounds like someone's constantly stumbling over his big feet. And the scratch-noise, oh the pain.. And more random strings.. I'm trying to see the big picture here, I swear... strangling the cat a little more.. what? Oh it's a woman singing, I'm sorry.
Yes, finally. It's over.

I thought I'd commented on this mix a long time ago. But I still don't have the words. This song deeply inspired me from the first moment I heard it (when it was on the front page!), and I just started seeing an intensely beautiful story act out inside my head. I started typing and found the story flowing out easily and quickly, each new layer of the song adding to the mood, atmosphere, and emotion in the story. It's not a particularly great piece of fiction, but it's one of the few stories permanently burned into my brain--every time I listen to that mix, I watch it act out in my head all over again. Not many pieces of music 'synch' with my own creative process like that, but I'm glad for this to be one of them.

I swear I replied in here. Guess not. This song actually convinced me to buy the game about two years ago. I am deeply grateful as this game is perfect. Beautiful looking, awesome story, kick-ass main character. Shame we may never see the two sequels they originally planned to make.
This game needs more remixes. Only one is not enough. Frame of Mind is a moving piece.

I swear I replied in here. Guess not. This song actually convinced me to buy the game about two years ago.
You too, huh?
Maybe I have the words now. And maybe not. Maybe I'll keep trying to find them, and maybe this is the kind of art that lacks words entirely; it is one thing to describe an emotion, and another to feel it. To live it. And some things burn so strongly you can neither ever forget them, nor ultimately, explain them. All this time since I heard the mix for the first time, and playing it now still evokes the same emotion--deeply rooted melancholia. The feeling of having lost not only a battle, but a war. Having to face your final enemy, and knowing with all your heart, and in spite of all your might that you cannot win. Your final battle will end with your death, and your name shall forever be remembered as a fool, a charlatan who dared challenge a well established reality. But also knowing that you must face this battle. That you must die, without honor, and face this dishonorable memory. Because you know that this well established reality is wrong. It is sapping the world of justice, and freedom, and it is crippling and destroying your people. You can't win, but maybe your battle will provoke someone to realize what you have, and to at last take down this injustice and liberate a people long since abused, wrecked, and shattered in the name of "saving" them.
That faint hope that someone, some day, may see this, and act, and stand tall against this enemy that had killed you so long ago, is enough to justify your death, and your dishonor.
And, even though I can barely type right now (this isn't my PC), that is how this mix has always made me feel, and most likely always will make me feel, until I have returned to dust.
Maybe these words can convey how deeply this mix has affected me. How beautiful, and melancholy, I have always felt it to be.

I just finished Beyond Good and Evil, and I was hoping to see a remix for the excellent music in that game. This was exactly what I wanted! It is a beautiful tune, and it captures all the elements of the game magnificently. It is really disappointing to know that the story of Beyond Good and Evil may not continue on. The end was so amazing and emotional, and then abruptly over... *tear* Ancel is a genius, this game proves it. Heral's music is genius too, and these three artists have made a wonderful tribute to it!

I just beat this game last night. I've loved this song ever since I listened to it a while ago, it was instantly a favorite of mine. After I finally got around to playing this (amazing) game, I've come to appreciate it even more. Definitely one of my all time favorites. It flawlessly combines several themes from the game into one beautiful song. Excellent.

If they ever get around to making a sequel, this should be the main title song

This is by far the best musical experience I have encountered in a long time. Its hard to get any better than what you did. Great job.

I loved this game so much; I'm surprised I never thought to seek out any remixes here. BG&E was a great game with a superb soundtrack, and this song is a goregous tribute to it. The strings moved me the most here, and as many have noted before me, the transitions between the artists' different segments are seamless, making this track flow well. I love the segment of the song that starts around 2:55 -- the drums and bassline accompany the strings and piano well. The vocals are beautiful to boot, and add so much to this great mix. This is a fantastic joint, and a BG&E movie or sequel would be blessed to have this as a lead track.

So why haven't we gotten anymore BG&E remixes yet? So sad the game is awesome with kick ass music yet only has one remix.

To lovers of this song (should be all of you) and fans of Beyond Good and Evil, Jericho, a member of the game's community has made a music video using this song (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0kg44rCkNcU). Thankfully this goes goes against the grain of most fan videos in terms of quality- extremely talented editor. Does great work, and this is no exception.
I also highly recommend his other videos of the game- The Great Gaming Escape (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qA9vHpYHzTo&NR), usings BT's The Great Escape, and Trip Like We Do (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eg7ym0n-SQo), with Filter and The Crystal Method's (Can't You) Trip Like I Do (also includes the ever awesome Psychonauts).

Thanks watkinzez.
But honestly though, there has got to be another collaboration for another remix for this game.
If Aurora, Destructo, and SGX can come together and do some other work, get those inspiration juices flowing again...
I might just create another MV :D .
Thank you fellas for that wonderful song and work you did. Brought tears to eyes and touched the hearts and souls of alot of folks across the globe.
I did another track with Aurora (an original): http://www.sgxmusic.com/music/SGX%20-%20Me%20Semper%20Maneas%20%5BShort%20Edit%5D.mp3
I'm sure I'll do something with Destructo again sometime.

That's another classic to add to the list SGX. Thank you!
Frame of Mind, an instant classic and a necessary addition to the music art collection.
This is JerichoWilks by the way and I got a private message but somehow, I'm unable to get to it because of the forum update thing.
If you or someone else sent me a PM, please send again to this account please.

I've got the Reason project file here if anyone wants to look at it: http://www.supergreenx.com/rns/Frame%20of%20Mind.rps
Vocals, some EQing and compression were done outside of reason, so this file is not totally complete.
Man oh man this song is real good. BTW I've baught two of your albums so far in your site for electronica music. There really good :D. Maybe you should try to get the attention of a recording company and make some big bucks. Well, unless you don't like to sell yourself out, which I respect if you feel that way. Any hoo, well done with the song :)

Easily one of the more impressive collaborations on the site. I passed this one by for a long time because I'd never played the game (despite owning a Gamecube), only to discover how wrong that was. A must have.
I don't know about you all, but I hear a bit of Chrono Trigger in here, I always did. When I first listened to this, I could have sworn after hearing that one part which starts at 5:04 in the song and goes about till 4:53, I thought it was a Chrono Trigger remix. Checking the title again, I found out it wasn't.
Besides that small piece, the remix itself is okay.

Chrono Trigger songs are great, Pillar of Salt was a great song. but with that aside whenever I hear Frame of Mind it always cheers me up when I'm depressed, I just have to find away to get this song on my Ipod.

I listen to this song whenever I see it on the cpu or ipod (^haha) and I love it. The atmosphere throughout the whole song is so...so...I have no words to describe it. I'm thinking of renting this one to try it out. I already have the soundtrack, which is beautiful. This song is, as well, beautiful. I loved the tracks being emulated here, and I think it was very professionally done, putting them together. Also, Aurora's voice added a hauntingly beautiful effect here.
I just beat BG&E today and now I just found this gem of a remix.Seriously, great work guys.

Every so often I'll replay BG&E and realize that I've COMPLETELY forgotten the entire game! Which is great because then its a new experience all over again (score one for a bad memory).
One thing I always remember though is the soundtrack. The songs were well composed, and titled with a sense of humor.
This song could EASILY fit in with the soundtrack for the game, and then some! Im making sure this ends up on my music list for all time. Thanks for a great listen!
This evokes an interesting atmosphere. The first part is reminiscent of some arid, "the world has moved on" type place, not quite a Sahara-esque place with unbearable heat, but just some dry dusty depot and this is how daily life runs. The atmosphere feels more desolate than strictly dark, but most of all this mix feels honest, telling realty as it is.
Oh yeaaaaaaaaaaah.... this now jogged my memory of nighttime in Hyrule field in Twilight Princess except a little more industrial.
Needless to say, this is an awesome track.
This remix is incredibly deep- between the textures, reverbs, and delays, it creates a enveloping sound that is very compelling. The overal lack of percussion makes this whole piece feel very timeless, and the vocals are absolutely stunning.
Some of the samples are slightly weaker, specifically some of the more exposed strings, but, taken as a whole, the whole track is very serene, and still feels 'right'. I'd love to hear this performed with a live ensemble, as I think it would feel even more emotional, but I certainly won't turn my nose up to this mix. Fantastic work.
