UPDATE - 11.5.09
Well i suppose it was inevitable. Things we're just going too good. It looks like some unfortunate circumstances have lead to Sixto Sounds & Nekofrog leaving the project. Sixto had a hard drive crash which is always a big pain to deal with, from what I gather he lost quite a bit, including all the project details he was working on. This also means I need to do a bit more recruitment. A few really good songs have opened up so I'll be trying to get a hold of some new mixers. This means if you want one of the new open tracks you should get in touch with me!

All of these are *amazing* tracks and I'd really like to have them covered, so if you were looking for a track but didn't see anything you liked before, please give these a listen and let me know if you'd like to take a stab at covering them.

Additionally, this also means our December release date probably isn't going to happen. I'll keep you guys posted and we'll see who i can get to take the tracks. Honestly I'd really like to have 1 more awesome guitar track on the project, but I'm willing to try anything!

UPDATE - 9.1.09
So guys.. Sup? Lets play a game of good news & bad news. Which one you want first? ..good news? okay.

The good news.. is that I set a September 1st Due date, its here, and the mixers have delivered. Oh man, they have definitely delivered. Not everyone is finished, but i definitely have some killer tracks. It gets even better though, I teased a bit that I might be dropping a second preview teaser.. and it looks like im going to come through for you all.

Now the bad news, sorry.

I'm at the point in the project where i need to figure out when to release, and basing that on my mixers progress and how the projects are going and on some sage wisdom from Pretzel himself, it looks like we're setting a release month of December. Probably about December 15th. I know it seems far away, but remember.. it's already September.

For the mixers, expect 1 more serious WIP deadline, followed by a release deadline, anyone who doesn't have something for me by the next deadline will *probably* be kicked off the project, unless they can commit to the final deadline and have a great excuse. The next deadline will be around Halloween.

UPDATE - 5.30.09
Alright everyone. Now that we have our mixers setup, most have started at the very least working on the tracks, it's time for another due date. This one is going to be a bit more serious then the last one. We're looking to have most tracks finalized by September 1st. Thats a good 3 months away at this point in time, so it gives everyone plenty of time to get stuff together and get something to me.

Assuming all goes according to plan, we will be looking at releasing the project some time shortly after that, If we do fall behind again, expect something like a December release, but it is definitely my goal to have things finished by the end of the year. Thanks for all the support guys ^_^

Hey everyone, just wanted to let you guys know that so far i have a few WIPS and things are going smoothly. I'm still hunting for artists to do some of the artwork, but other then that we are pretty much solid. To the mixers, please get me your WIPS before the 15th if you want your song to be featured somehow in the teaser, the sooner the better. I'll be handing out some PMs just to make sure everyone is aware of whats going on.

Also, I'm planning on switching to this thread for the official forums of the website, as the current forums had a lot of problems and don't see much activity, plus everyone is already registered here, so it should just be easier in general. We got one week left until the teaser comes out, so assuming i get a few more tracks, i'll see you all then.

Hey all - I don't make a lot of posts these days and I honestly haven't been active in the community for quite awhile, but that's about to change in a big way.

I come today to announce my 2nd official project.

Thats right, It's Megaman 9. I've already started recruiting mixers and artists with the hopes of having the project completed at the very latest by the end of the year. I'm making this post to give you guys a heads up and invite you all to come check out the website and the project. We plan on covering about 27 tracks or so and maybe even some bonus tracks if this gets as big as i think it will get. In addition to the music, i also plan on offering a large artwork section with a few of my favorite artists from the community already contributing. Much like my previous project, there are no style requirements, Any musical style goes.

That being said, we still need some more help - Another purpose of this post is to officially start open recruitment for mixers and artists to help contribute to the project. I'm pretty open and if you would like to help then please drop me a line - There are no upfront requirements for being considered, I only want 1 track of your work to be considered for the project. You can contact me via PM, or on the projects official forums.

If mixing isn't your thing and you still want to contribute, im still looking for artists of all styles. I'd like to see at least 1 piece of work before i allow you to contribute to the project.

If you want to see who is already involved or who is covering what tracks, then please check out the website! everything is there! Thanks for reading guys and i'll be posting teasers in the coming weeks so be prepared :) This game is awesome and I'm thrilled to have a shot to pay tribute to the game that dared to be 2d with an industry so focused on the graphics. Agreed on the most part:

Wily Machine had so much fucking potential, and then they just drop the ball. So many times you think it will pick up and be all guitar kickass and it fades back to boring.

Well, i started a splash woman remix recently, but i see that's already taken...

I do have interest in Galaxy Man's stage, however; i see nothing about deadlines anywhere. If you could give me a better idea about timelines/deadlines i might be inclined to join.

After the project fills up, i will be setting the first general deadline in about 2 months time, A lot of the mixers are busy and unlike my cave story project, i don't intend on rushing things along.

My first major goal is to get a good solid group of mixers committed and set working on a track - I'd be content when we have about 18+ of the tracks covered, though I would love to see 25. Once that goal is met, i will set up a basic WIP deadline in about 2-3 months time. Think like March or something.

Beyond that, if the project continues to gain steam and tracks DO fill up - and I have more mixers that want to take on tracks that are already covered, im open to that as well.

Good, HARD game... bought it more for the music than with the intention of spending enough time to beat it, but hey.

A note/inquiry - there were some projects in 2008 that were started/released that were never brought to my attention as "Official OverClocked ReMix Projects". What does said status mean? Besides a subdomain, free pimpage on OCR, etc., not much, so there's no real disincentive. I'd just appreciate a heads-up that this is indeed going to be an OCR album and then when the deadline draws closer, I'd want to coordinate the release with the powers-that-be, as we're doing now for SoS and will be fairly soon for FF4/DKC2.

In other words, lemme know what's up.

I agree with what people said about the arrangement official capcom OST. That thing was horrible and I had high hopes of it being good but I was really disapointed and I love to see you guys bring it to shame and show capcom that they should hire you guys to do the arrangement ost next time...lol

I feel sorry for whoever picks the state select music. The most horribles of horrible of stage music. That's the only music I hated in Megaman 9 hopefully a remixer can actually do some good and make it actually listenable its... so horrible. Please don't fail me!

Other than that i'm pretty stoke about this project and seeing the mixer listed on the project, I know i'm going to end up happy. :)

I have the chiptune, and it does not sound goofy in the least bit. In fact, MM5 has a decent soundtrack. You should listen to it again.

I meant that the style of the music was "goofier" in general. I didn't mean the composition itself was goofy, the music just had a goofy, cartoony feel to it, if you ask me. It's not a bad soundtrack, but it's my least favorite out of the Mega Man series.

I don't understand what goofy is supposed to mean. It's not cartoony in anyway, it can't really be cartoony, it's a CHIPTUNE. Kinda hard to be cartoony. Anyways, it's still a good soundtrack.

It's generally more laid back than the rest of the NES Mega Mans, making it more interesting IMO. It also pulls some technical tricks that weren't really utilized in the others like the triangle bassdrum.

Thanks Kyle! So, A little status update, At this point im not quite ready to post the teaser clip, I'll just post the update i made on the official website as it sums it up perfectly:

So yea, sorry about this guys, but the teaser is going to have to wait just a FEW more days before It's ready to be unvieled to everyone. This is mainly due to the Easter holidays and I just want to be sure that we get as much of the good stuff as we can packed into the teaser.

I promise to make it up to you guys, how about some project artwork? I'll see what I can come up with on the 20th. Thanks for your patience and support everyone!

Interesting teaser. It'll take more to get me excited, though...'cause I don't see a lot of rock going on thus far. There's only one rock track in there that sounds pretty sweet. I'm not too excited for the techno/house stuff. Mega Man 9's soundtrack begs to be rocked out more than anything else...that's my personal bias. Still, I'm being unfair, these are still Work in Progress after all...and in the spirit of OCR genres have to be mixed up. It's just when I see Mega Man 9 plus the word remix, I always associate the picture with this awesome medley remix:

Just had a listen to the teaser, and I'm really impressed by what's been done so far! There was a fair bit more house/techno than I expected, considering the amount of guitarists that are on, but i digress.

The album as the whole is looking really, really promising, and i can't to hear it when it's out.

I'd contribute if I could... but, I've got next to no gear and I absolutely suck, so I'll just cheer everyone on from the sidelines!

Hey man, I got an idea. Instead of giving us a new teaser, how about giving us a single? I noticed "We are the Robots" is finished and I think it would be a great way to kick the album off. Then if you need even more time past December, you can release another track as a second single.

I'd have taken more than one track, but I'm too busy working on 3 other albums not including this one >_< The other ones aren't for OCR though. Wily Machine was definitely one of the my top choices under Strange World, though.

Just wanted to let everyone know that we met our September 1st deadline for the most part, and have a new teaser posted with all new tracks. The 2nd from last song is a *bonus* song and not part of the original mm9 tracklist, but rather, megaman ZX.

Wow, are you guys seriously almost done? Damn, I think you'll hold the title of "shortest time to finish a project" around here. But with Humans + Gears and Serious Monkey Business set for release, can we expect an early 2010 release from you guys?

Something close to that is certainly what we're aiming for, but.. as always with remix projects delays are almost inevitable, that's one of the reasons why I set the date so early, so if we do get some bad news with mixers, then it's not such a big thing when we have to delay the project. People are busy, myself included. We'll see how it goes, i guess. :)

I would like to take this opportunity to thank CAPCOM.

I applaud CAPCOM for giving olde-tyme Mega Man fans what they wanted, even when the franchise was at risk from the bad reception of most 3D Mega Man games.

Have you all had any luck coming up with a name for this album? And when you're done with this album, I bet fans would clamor for a Mega Man 2 album.

I may infact just stick with 'Megaman 9 Remix Project' .. but I guess to fit in with all the other OCR projects, it should have something... a bit more inspired? I'll work on it. :) Also we may have a secret track or two from mm2.. ^_^

Being a mega man mega fanboy, I'd love to do Flash in the Dark, but it would REALLY depend on when you want to hear anything from me or when you would want it done. I really like taking my time with things. That and I'm on far too many projects as is...

I wish K-Wix was online more often, I just almost finished the "Flash In The Dark" track that he didn't even know I was doing! It was supposed to be a WIP to show what I could do and he'd decide if he liked or not and then I would continue if he did, but I just couldn't stop working on it and now it's pretty much done. And I'm not even on the project yet. :P

If he doesn't, I can still sub to OCR after the project's released. :P
