This is definitely one of those ReMixes where all the pieces fit together to make a nice, thoughtful and cohesive whole.

Good job, Nutritious! Keep up the good work!

Thanks for that submission, Nutritious! It's a wonderful piece. For the time you had, making a combination of 5 tracks is epic. Amazing job and work! Congrats! I hope some other tracks on that get well album are submitted as well.

Using the Item Acquisition theme as a the dramatic swell around 1:00 is freaking ridiculous. You've mixed the sources together like an art. The whole song is very good, but I'm just left stunned after the first minute, the weaving of the prologue into other themes in a way that hides the fact they're totally different fanfares.

A+ for arrangement.

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

*gasps*

ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

It was too short :'(

But it feels so damn epic. Like the galaxy really does await, and you're about to start your journey/quest/road("space"?)trip through it. You actually sent shivers down my spine in the first minute: the act of simply playing this piece of music through my speakers made me somehow feel cosmically significant (well, then the piece ended lol). Nice.

Part of it reminds me of Avien's remix from the original Metroid OST (To Brinstar), probably somewhat due to the instrumentation and stuff (oh and let's not forget, the same/similar melody).

And I like the usage of that (bass, I suppose) drum at 1:14 - 1:20ish. I too really want to hear this live, and let it rattle my bones and senses into a state of shock.

Mewonders why I didn't notice this earlier... well, I did now, and I'm glad I did. I'll bet bLiNd sure did like this, and I'm sure many others do/will (er, funky grammatical construction).

I love how you used so many themes successfully! Transitions are simply delicious. I would love to hear this performed live. Great job!

This is excellent in almost every aspect, however, this piece so liberal that if you were to tell me it's an original piece, I would have believed you. Albeit, it's still an excellent compo and far beyond the skill level of many-a-composer here. Good work Nutritious, I look forward to hearing new stuff from you(but please make them a tad more conservative :D:D)

You really don't know the source music well. It's basically Metroid series music until 2:30 of a 3:25-long track. Just putting that out there, because this wasn't too liberal.

Not what I was expecting, but very dramatic! The sources blend together seamlessly. Felt like it went by too quickly, oddly enough.

however, this piece so liberal that if you were to tell me it's an original piece, I would have believed you.

...really? I found the original melodies pretty obvious...

its ironic - I love the game and know every track, yet I can't really hear the melodies too well here. Man no wonder I have trouble composing lmao.

EDIT
After several listens, I've finally discerned the melodies :D sorry about that Nutricious. Disregard my mindless babbling :)

Very nice, a classy, well-composed piece. I really dug the fancy stringwork in the last quarter. It does have a very LotR-ish feel to it--Samus goes to Middle-Earth! (Just kidding. If anyone from Nintendo is reading this, I did not mean that as a suggestion for the next Metroid game to be some sort of hideous cross-license marketing ploy.)

I usually reserve the following statement for deviantART, seeing as that is seems to fit better there…
…but I feel this needs to be said about this arrangement:

I actually agree with Hoboka. This remix reminds me of the original music, but I can't really hear it in there (except the item room and acquisition fanfare in the beginning).

it's there...just well hidden - you need to hear it a lot of times >_<
I'd never want to compose like that myself though, because I'd like my listeners to hear the source nice and clearly. But this mix IS impressive regardless of any of our gripes :<

The inverse was true for me, on first listen.

wow, what a great mix! Added a very epic sound the the original song. I like how he went off course with the trumpet notes. I would like to hear more from Nutritous.

What, you too? And I thought _I_ was source-deaf. Then again, this is one soundtrack I know real well, and I love what you've done with it, Nutri.

I really feel the scope of the remix, the word epic certainly describes it well. The name describes it well, too. The arrangement is pwnsome. It's all pwnsome.

The inverse? You mean you recognized all of the source tunes but the remix did not remind you of them? :|

whoa. this is epic song!

Edit:

I cannot stop the music player! it must continue!

Edit:

You know whose work this reminds me of? Gustav Holst's.

Lol let me clarify: inverse what was in the parenthesis. On first listen, I didn't hear the item room and acquisition fanfare, but I knew i was supposed to hear them from the writeup and stuff... so i sort of heard them. kind of. But I heard the Brinstar (ok, I'm not too familiar with the super metroid OST, but it was Brinstar in Metroid) section at the end very clearly. I had to listen to it a couple times to really hear the fanfare and item room.

And in some ways, i guess, this piece doesn't remind me too much of the original. It's way more grandiose... and cool.

Definitely a song that needs to be played loud, since it loses all its appeal when just playing in the background. The transitions were handled very well and don't make this feel like a medley at all.

I think this track has a very soundtrack esque to it. It's done well and it makes me wish there was a Metroid blockbuster.

Excellent transitions and some great texture changes. I'm super impressed you were able to rock this out in 2 days, considering how much thought was put into it.

Nice work dude, this is excellent.

I love the seamless transition at 2:00 and the ending transition/cadence. Beautiful work. Now you just need to hire an orchestra to make lots money or whatever it is arrangers do 8O

This is a Very nice orchestral piece. Ambience is set from the get go.

Nutritious piece transports you to an epic journey full of space jumping & metroid busting...
But don't forget to freeze 'em with the ice beam before you shoot missiles! ;-)

Transition at 1:02 is smooth, with the overwhelming sense of menace.
At 1:50 the classic melody rolls in and the heroic feeling takes over.
The rest is simply beautiful to hear.
Overall, great direction & ace composition skills.

I know little about technique, so I'll abstain from commenting on that.
But in terms of production, Galaxy Awaits sounds way better than any recent official Metroid soundtrack.

Very well done, nice orchestration!

...what makes you think it's not Vienna Instruments? I thought the sound was great.

It's really tough to sound original when doing an orchestral take on Metroid, it seems. No matter what I hear, it seems that as soon as orchestral elements get infused into the awesome scores of these games, it all comes out sounding very much the same.

I think a lot of this comes down to the emotions of the people who write these arrangements. They have in their heads the grandiose adventures of a butt-kicking superchick who can totally destroy you in more ways than are comfortable, and that's before she puts on her gear. Add in the fact that people who write orchestral arrangements tend to gravitate towards the more well-known tracks, and it's a recipe for samey-ness.

As far as individual efforts go, this is a good one. Fantastic merger of themes, all of it is well done with an ear for detail and is subtle and nuanced with just enough love to make it enjoyable, and not be overbearing.

The problem is, it doesn't really push any boundaries, or take any chances. There's nothing here that I haven't heard. Granted, this isn't a case where I have heard a lot that was also better, but it's still not the most original concept.

Still, I give it a passing grade, if I handed out grades that is. As a tribute, it works, as a ReMix when compared to the source, it works. Everything else is subjective, I guess.

Nice hints of the old film 'Zulu' at 1:08, ha. The whole thing trails off into blandness after about 2:14 I think, but until then it's a strong piece.

I love the way this opens up at 1:59, definitely reminds me of playing through Tallon Overworld in Metroid Prime. Also pretty decent work with the time signature, keeps it interesting.
